The free kick goal at 2:08 was absolutely fantastic! It’s reminiscent of Ronaldinho’s goal vs England at the 2002 WC. But the open-net miss at the 0:54s mark was minus in their overall performance. You need to put those glit edge chances away, especially against much better teams than Congo, otherwise it could come back to bite you
objpmb: In addition to more lightings, I still believe a decorative hanging ceilings (with cultural motifs like ATILIOGWU DANCERS) would befit the airport and make it a compact boutique airport. Check out the new but ongoing Kumasi International Airport in Ghana. From what I have seen so far, the airport development will be an ongoing thing. The next should be hotels WITHIN the Airport ground for those who want to plan best way to get into town considering security. Then Cargo terminal and when International flights commence, we start building an International terminal. Regarding International terminal, if we can't lay hand on world class design on a small scale, we can meet Amaechi (Transport Minister) to help us with a design. Amaechi did well with train terminals which beat any of our airports so he will have a better Airport designs.
I think the future international terminal can also be used for some domestic flights. Such a terminal should be capable of handling a minimum of 2 million passengers/year. Also, the I’ll prefer it be either designed like the upcoming permanent terminal in Uyo, or the new Beijing airport terminal (obviously on a much smaller scale).
Thank goodness that the airport is not yet fully built up, so as you said, there should be space for a combined 500 hotel rooms within the airport, a proper cargo terminal, and Air Peace’s proposed MRO.
I hope an airport hotel is built on the grounds of the airport. Such an airport would be especially useful for passengers on international flights, who wouldn’t want to go into town immediately after a long journey.
In the future, Air Peace, in addition to setting up an MRO at the airport, could launch international flights to destinations such as Dubai, Shanghai, Jo’burg, or seasonal flights to Houston (which has a sizable Igbo population).
Hadi Sirika, minister of aviation, says the federal government will issue Requests-for-Proposal for the establishment of Nigeria Air next week.
A request for proposal is the process of requesting the bids to evaluate the feasibility, financial health and bidders’ abilities to undertake a specific project.
Sirika disclosed this to journalists on Wednesday in Abuja.
Sirika said the government would issue requests for proposals to intending investors on March 8, 2022.
“The transaction adviser is going to request for proposal next week Monday. The government will own five percent, Nigerians will own 46 percent, and the international partners’ airlines will take 49 percent shares,” he said.
“We will give them some weeks to respond to the request, then we will announce the winning bidder.
“However, in the interim, because the government intends to own only five percent of the airline shares, we are going to go ahead with the AOC (Air Operator Certificate), which has commenced since.
I believe that by April, we should be able to have our AOC ready, which means, we are ready to start. And once the AOC is in our hands, the offices are secured, the interim board is being constituted, and when they finish signing the contract, we will announce who they are.”
Sirika further added that the bidders are temporarily called interim board members and should take over latest by July.
“Currently, they are called interim because they will hold the airline on an interim basis up to the time the investors will come and take over.”
“They are noble people, some are Nigerians, some are not. I think there are about nine of them running the airline and they will begin operations between now and July.
“Within the period, Nigeria Air would run Lagos and Abuja, and as the situation demands, they may extend to Port Harcourt and other parts of the country.”
The minister added that the concession of four major international airport terminals would be completed in the second quarter.
Chairman of United Nigeria Airlines, Dr. Obiora Okonkwo, has hinted that the two airlines would revolutionize the aviation sector and usher in a new era of collaboration for better travel experience. He said the new deal would be unveiled in the “next few days”.
Speaking during a Gala and Award Night held at The Dome in Abuja to mark the first anniversary celebration of United Nigeria Airlines, Dr. Okonkwo said the aviation industry in Nigeria was long overdue for such collaboration.
According to him, such partnerships enhance business and improve capacity of airlines to overcome certain issues that lead to flight delays.
“In the next few days, we are going to sign an agreement with Air Peace of collaborations that will improve travel experiences in the country and also help address certain problems that arise in the course of flight operations”, he said.
Amoto94: "Havertz will become a world class false 9. His movement in the box is superb. His link play with his teammates is superb. His ability to glide with the ball across the pitch is superb. He also has the bonus of being an aerial threat. It looks like Tuchel has now realised it too." Source: @PremierLeaguePanel Ibime got it spot on Havertz's role, he will be deadly if we build the team around him.
And it looks like the board panicked in chasing and buying Lukaku
This squad is good enough to book the WC ticket. I’m particularly excited that Amoo is part of the group cos I can’t wait to see how he is gonna mesmerize the Ghanaians
Maximilan: Anybody who thinks another party is going to wrestle in off power from APC/PDP this next election is should wake up from their grand delusions, if Tinubu or Atiku wins their primaries one of them would be inaugurated come June 12
D'Tigress have scored 744 points, and conceded 889 points in world cup play (over 2 tournaments in 2006 and 2018)... The team should record their 1000th ever WC point by their 4th group game.
SlyCharlie: i dunno why fiba reintroduced this their opd format of two groups. the last format used in spain 2018 was waay better imho... well, while watching the draws i made up my mind that there wasn't gonna be any easy drawz for naijas tigress and what do u know... we fac Australia France and Canada again in group b. coach otis and his crew have a whole lot to do b4 September.
on a side note, i wonder who fiba is gonna pick to replace Russia
My cynical mind says it’s probably the NBBF that influenced FIBA to use this format in order to guarantee extra days of earning estacode, as compared to the 4-team per group format.
