lovewins: I don't think we need the Ogumike sisters in the team moving forward. They would have been necessary for the Olympics, bur including them at this point doesn't really make sense.
Nneka is 31, Chiney is almost 30, we need to focus on building a team for the future not including those close to retirement. As it is right now, almost half the team on the current roaster Is over 30, we need younger and fresher blood in the team. We should focus on Arike and Oyenwere in the WNBA and players of Nigerian decent in the NCAA Completely agree. However, I’m not sure if Arike would ever suit up for D’Tigress cos she seems adamant on playing for the US. Maybe some financial incentive from either the NBBF or the team’s sponsors or Naija billionaires may induce the likes of Arike, Onyenwere and some other talented Nigerian-Americans to don the GWG |

lovewins: Wow. Had to read up on her. She seemed to have an impressive collegiate career. Sad to have been cut short by a genetic disease.
Like you reaffirmed, we really need size in the team. It was really really sad. In addition to height, our ladies need to bulk a bit, because that’s another area where the top 3 or 4 teams have an advantage over D’Tigress. I watched the game vs the USA at the last Olympics, and most of our ladies looked like teens - physique wise- compared to the Americans. I will say a 7-10 lb gain in muscle won’t be bad, especially when D’Tigress come up against teams that are both technically and physically dominant |

Griffon: It all boils down to how much you have. Mercy Johnson has three kids already but still possesses an inflammable body. Ini Edo, Jackie Appiah, Monalisa Chinda etc are still rocking their slamming bodies and curves. They have a routine that is working for them, and it requires cash.
An average African man no send your tummy or even sagged boobs. He's more concerned with having a firm grip of your swaying boobs, while he rims your big bakassi hard the doggy way.
I'll be foolish to avoid Destiny Etiko or even Moyo Lawal for Jessica Biel. That juju no fit work on me brother.

lovewins: Convincing her won't be difficult, she's appears to be very pro-Nigeria. She only needs to be approached.
I also think we need size in the team. We should intentionally scout for tall players. That's what gives teams like the USA an advantage Yes, we absolutely need size. How I wish Felicia Aiyeotan’s career wasn’t cut short due to a chronic illness, because standing at 6’7”, she would have been a massive asset against a player like Brittney Griner or Liz Cambage. If there is a decent 6’5” or 6’6” Naija player in the NCAA or even in Europe, she should be checked out by the coaching crew |

Sports › Re: Nigeria Basketball Thread! by PDPGuy(op): 1:28pm On Feb 13, 2022 |
Danielnino00: We are attempting very few 3 pointers today...Driving more to the paint and drawing lots of fouls..The strategy has worked... Right! Coach Hughley probably realized the Malians aren’t as skillful as his players, so the more fouls the Malians commit, the more pensive they’re key players would be. |

Queenslander: Ugh, that Hughley is seriously mad,. Why wouldn't we lose the first quarter? When he keeps putting Amy on the bench, in the second quarter now,. He'd throw her in. By that time we'd be chasing the game,. Only for her to help us steady the ship.. Amy is strong fighter and a warrior,. Why Atonye is just there wasting space for us.. it's so annoying!! I agree. I don’t see the logic of starting Atonye over Okonkwo. Aside from Macaulay, Okonkwo has been our stand out player in this tournament |
Sports › Re: Nigeria Basketball Thread! by PDPGuy(op): 12:23pm On Feb 13, 2022 |
Queenslander: Hmmm, why is Amy Okonkwo always starting from the bench though? I for one think Atonye Nyingifa is really below average,. I mean she played 20:42 in the previous game. and had only 2pts. While Amy that played 16:56 had 8pts.. it has to be said that none of these ladies made a single 3 point attempt!! As for 2 pointers Nyingifa had 5 attempts making only one 1/5. Amy had 4 attempts making only a single one too 1/4..
The yeye coach also wasted a spot on Ify Ibekwe,. If you know she ain't fit to play while bring her all the way to Serbia? Is there no other player to replace her? The coach should have as well brought Ezinne Kalu!! Smh!! Hughley was hoping Ibekwe would be fit for today’s game, but unfortunately she wasn’t certified so |

Sports › Re: Nigeria Basketball Thread! by PDPGuy(op): 8:23pm On Feb 11, 2022 |
For the Sunday game vs Mali, the Malian’s will most likely try to gain most of their points in the paint, or through drives to earn free-throws.
Their 3-pt FG shooting % (18%) is too poor. So, I wouldn’t expect D’Tigress to be guarding the 3-point shooters as much as they did today. |
