Justice Amy Coney Barrett is the better choice in my personal point of view. Many (not all) of the Miami Cubans exhibit the same greed and racist behavior of their Spanish forefathers when they decimated native tribes in the new world.
I'm always proud of Haitian revolution history. They kicked the sh*t out of colonial master France and racist azz Napoleon Bonaparte. Haiti is still paying for it and hated by western nations today.

Kudos to this prolific thread and congrats to your political party's victory in Edo state yesterday. A very clean, non-violent election. wink

(This is to enable governments to collect tax from their citizens that are based abroad). I don't really understand what's going on in this country. They are running out of idea thereby putting immense pressure on people based abroad. These people are paying tax in their respective country and is it a sin to save money in ur own country. This is a bad precedence on the part of the government calling themselves progressive. For how long will the masses continue to bear the burden of this government. No direction, no way forward. Everything is just upsidedown.
The purpose of the self-certification exercise is to enable the US IRS to collect tax from Nigerians who hold dual (American and Nigerian) citizenship. The FG ain’t collecting any additional tax from those people.

American coaches are mostly all about using athleticism to compete in matches.

Bottom line: If at least 53 million voters vote by mail, as being estimated by some sources, Biden will win.

Democrats have always performed extremely well among mail-in voters. Back in 2012, Obama carried mail-in voters by 7% points, while he only won votes cast in-person on Election Day by 1%.

Already, according to a poll, 34% of Wisconsin voters would vote by mail. That figure is huge and could be a pointer (if it’s actualized) to who could carry the swing state.

GOVERNOR EMMANUEL COMMITTED TO WORLD CLASS AIRPORT TERMINAL

Despite growing concerns over the economic challenges associated with the global pandemic, Governor Udom Emmanuel is committed to the completion of major projects embarked upon for the well being of Akwa Ibom people.

One of these is the completion of a world class international terminal building and other innovations geared at repositioning Akwa Ibom as an aviation hub in Africa.

The Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Special Duties, Rt. Hon. Okpolupm Etteh gave the assurrances, during an inspection visit on work around the project site over the weekend.

He explained that the new international terminal building is designed to meet the highest level of intelligence and smart building standard, and will match any of the internationally ranked airport terminals when completed.

He stated that ,"The security architecture is very high, there would be finger print digital pass or card pass, whether you are a passenger or staff.

"The facility will have four methods of fire prevention - fire extinguishers, fire water sprinkler system, fire detectors (heat, smoke and temperature detectors), FM 200 ie automated fire suppression system," he said.

Hon Etteh commended Governor Emmanuel's foresightedness and sincerity, which accounted for the rapid progress of the project despite the pandemic, assuring that the facility would be ready on schedule.

Also speaking, the Project Manager, Onur Uzel, said the terminal building project has three floors and is designed to accommodate over one million passengers per year with a total area of construction of about 30,000 square meters.

He explained that there will be a digital self check-in by a robot pre-planned before Covid-19 and counter check-in as well with five bridges, staircases, seven lifts and four escalators, which are pressure sensitive and only move when a passenger is detected on it.

He also explained that a special roof that can last up to 200 years without changing its colour, was conceptualized for the project.

Uzel further said the facility comes with an automated system to check bag contents while the departure area will have outlets of an International Airport runway and would also have a sick bay and staff lodge.

The project manager maintained that the facility was designed by experts from Nigeria, United Kingdom, United States and Turkey.

Foreign AffairsTwitter Censors Another Trump Tweet! by PDPGuy(op): 5:55am On Sep 13, 2020
Twitter has censored another tweet from President Donald Trump instructing voters in North Carolina on avoiding losing their votes to fraud.

In a tweet posted earlier today, the President told voters in North Carolina the steps they need to take to make sure their vote is counted.

“NORTH CAROLINA: To make sure your Ballot COUNTS, sign & send it in EARLY,” said President Trump.

“When Polls open, go to your Polling Place to see if it was COUNTED. IF NOT, VOTE! Your signed Ballot will not count because your vote has been posted. Don’t let them illegally take your vote away from you!”

The tweet is now hidden behind a warning message informing Twitter users that “This Tweet violated the Twitter Rules about civic and election integrity.”

This is the latest incident in an intensifying campaign of censorship against the President’s account by Twitter, and the second time the platform has censored the President’s tweets regarding voting.

In August, Twitter censored a tweet from the President warning of a “voter security disaster” due to Democrats championing mail drop boxes for voting.

“So now the Democrats are using Mail Drop Boxes, which are a voter security disaster,” said President Trump.

“Among other things, they make it possible for a person to vote multiple times. Also, who controls them, are they placed in Republican or Democrat areas? They are not Covid sanitized. A big fraud!.

Twitter has also censored Trump’s tweets warning rioters that they can expect to be met with force if they continue engaging in lawless behavior.

And last week, the platform announced that it would censor anyone who claimed an “early victory” on election night — a warning shot against Republican voters, who are expected to vote in person in large numbers (in contrast to Democrats, large numbers of whom are voting by mail).

TravelCOVID Hasn’t Stopped Ethiopian’s $5 Billion Mega-hub by PDPGuy(op): 12:13am On Sep 11, 2020
Ethiopian Airlines’ agility has allowed it to grow to become one of the biggest airlines in the world. Its focus on hub and spoke operations has driven it to target the building of a $5 billion mega airport by 2035. But has the coronavirus crisis changed its ambition and outlook? Acting CCO, Esayas WoldeMariam, says not.

Over the course of 2019, Ethiopian Airlines generated $4 billion of revenue. This came from shuttling 12 million passengers around the world, as well as shifting over 400,000 tons of freight. 2020 has played out a different way.

Back in April, CEO of Ethiopian Tewolde GebreMariam said that, between January and March, the COVID crisis had caused the airline to lose $550 million of its anticipated revenue, due to the downturn in travel demand. A rapid pivot to cargo saw Ethiopian clawing back some of those losses, helping it survive the crisis with no bailout.

Regardless of how Ethiopian’s agility has helped it get through COVID, it would be remiss to assume that there hasn’t been an impact. Airlines all over the world have been struggling, finding themselves forced to lay off workers and downsize their fleets, putting big projects on the back burner.

Ethiopian Airlines’ big projects revolve around its Vision 2035 strategy. Having completed its Vision 2025 goals no less than seven years early, the airline realigned its future ambitions for growth. But has the impact of COVID made Ethiopian rethink its objectives?

Stay informed: Sign up for our daily aviation news digest.

The $5 billion airport city
Back in January, when Ethiopian was laying out its plans under Vision 2035, the aggressive expansion it desired was clear to see. Based on the projected growth of Africa’s population and rising propensity to travel, the airline was now targeting revenue growth to $25 billion and adding aircraft to bring its fleet to more than 200.

One of the most ambitious parts of this strategy was the building of a mega airport, capable of handling 100 million passengers a year. The plans were for something more akin to a city than just an airport, boasting shopping malls, training centers and hotels. CEO GebreMariam said,

“We have identified 35sqkm land to be developed as an airport and it is about a $5bn project – larger than the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD). It is going to accommodate 100m passengers; larger than Dubai and more or less equal to the new Istanbul airport.”

But, of course, that was before COVID hit.

No change
Nobody would bat an eyelid if Ethiopian were to scale down its Vision 2035 targets. Given that it just opened a brand new terminal at Addis Ababa Bole to scale up its hub capacity, pulling back from the huge investment of the new airport would be completely understandable.

Simple Flying asked Acting Chief Commercial Officer Esayas WoldeMariam whether the project would be put on the back burner, given the state of the industry. He was quick to say that it’s still firmly on the cards. He told us,

“We will definitely continue with the project. Ethiopia is one of the fastest growing economies on the continent. The population is growing, demand is growing. It’s in our long term strategy, Vision 2035, so definitely, we’re going to go for that.”

Foreign AffairsJudges: Trump Order To Exclude People Violates The Law by PDPGuy(op): 11:04pm On Sep 10, 2020
A panel of three federal judges said Thursday that Presidential Trump’s order to exclude people in the country illegally when redrawing congressional districts violates the law.

The federal judges in New York granted an injunction stopping the order, saying the harm caused by it would last for a decade. The judges prohibited Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross, whose agency oversees the Census Bureau, from excluding people in the country illegally when turning over figures used to calculate how many congressional seats each state gets

PoliticsAustin Ogannanah On Air Peace: Arewa Youths React To Fresh Fraud Allegations by PDPGuy(op): 7:30am On Sep 08, 2020
The Arewa Youths Consultative Forum, AYCF, has cautioned Nigerians against blackmailing successful businessmen and women who are contributing to the economy of Nigeria through job creation.

AYCF National President, Yerima Shettima gave the caution while reacting to a report of blackmail against the Chairman of Air Peace, Allen Onyema.

Reports had it that one Austin Ogannanah had alleged that Onyema fraudulently acquired a loan used as his startup capital for Air Peace.

However, Shettima described Ogannanah’s claim as false and cheap blackmail for failing to provide adequate details to back his allegations.

Shettima, in a statement he forwarded to DAILY POST, cautioned Nigerians against falsehood aimed at tarnishing the image of private investors.

The AYCF National President expressed the belief that the Air Peace boss started his business on a legitimate ground, stressing that no bank would give out loans without proper documentation.

He further described the allegations against Onyema as ridiculous.

According to Shettima, the main aim of the blackmailer was to bring down Onyema and his airline.

He said: “The blackmailer used an old news report about alleged financial mismanagement by a former chairman of the Presidential Amnesty Program, Mr. Kingsley Kuku and mixed up facts while trying in vain, to insert the Air Peace CEO’s name in the tirade.

“This blackmailer who is based in the United States is well-known for this dirty game and he is no other than Mr. Austin Ogannanah.

Our independent checks as a CSO has revealed that the Air Peace CEO, Chief Allen Onyema got his startup capital for the business through legitimate bank loans. And no Nigerian bank gives out loans without thorough paperwork. This also means that if Mr. Ogannanah was not out for cheap blackmail, he would have confronted Mr. Onyema with questions on how he got startup capital.

“We have also established that the unsubstantiated claims in the news story targeted at the Air Peace CEO, Chief Allen Onyema was entirely false, as our independent investigations have now confirmed.

“We condemn this cheap and dirty means of extortion through painting innocent compatriots in black by mixing up wrong information and tying it to an individual investor and his investment.

“They said the CEO struggled for money as a startup for Peace Air and gave the year he started the purported struggle as 2015, but admitted elsewhere that the company started operation in 2013. This is quite ridiculous and it exposed the underbelly of the blackmailer and his media associates in this easy money-spinning venture.”

The AYCF National President warned that picking on “big-time investors” could dent the image of investors.

Shettima urged all Nigerians to stand up against such acts of blackmailing indigent investors.

“The AYCF says enough of this band of professional blackmailers picking on big-time investors as targets for fake online media campaigns of intimidation and harassment.
