Asisat don retire from the Super Falcons. This AFCON is her last appearance for the team. She listened to her body and read the room so I applaud her decision and wish her well in her future endeavours.

Go well our goat of African football.
Wow. I had been thinking she would retire from the Super Falcons, maybe, next year. I thank her for her valuable contributions to our national teams. I wish her all the best in her future endeavors, and I wouldn’t mind if she gets a coaching license and becomes part of the coaching crew of any of our national teams.

Air Peace launching Abuja - London Heathrow, and Gatwick flights, in October, may challenge BA’s dominance on the route, especially when you consider that Air Peace’s return fares start at N1 million…

Impressively, they flew 107,000 passengers on their Lagos - London Gatwick route last year. Bear in mind that they only launched that route in March last year

The Nation newspaper is reporting that Osimhen will earn no less than €18 million/year in his new contract with Galatasaray!

That is 32 billion Naira oh 😁 I don’t want to think about the 1000s of his people that will be billing him 🙆🏽‍♂️

🇳🇬 v 🇿🇦 will be the Super Falcons’ 66th ever WAFCON match, the most for any team

🇳🇬 Chiamaka Nnadozie has played in 10 WAFCON matches, keeping 7 clean sheets! Excluding the own goal she conceded in the bronze medal game three years ago, she has shut out opposition players in 8 out of 10 WAFCON matches 🤩

If D’Tigress win this year’s Afrobasket, they will automatically qualify for next year’s World Cup. However, the team would still be required to participate in one of the 4 World Cup qualification tournaments, scheduled for March next year…

📈 Since 2023, Nigeria has only failed to keep a clean sheet once in 7 competitive matches Ashleigh Plumptre has featured, and the Super Falcons have not lost in regular time.

And the 5-0 win over Zambia was the Super Falcons’ 48th WAFCON victory (excluding penalty shoot outs )…

I feel bad for the new invitees, because you do not have soo much time to prove yourself, if by Saturday or Sunday you still are not convincing, you might be on the flight back, as the camp is basically one week now as against 3/4 weeks that it should be, or that other countries are doing..
Such a big shame!

IFAB - football’s rule-making body - are proposing some rule changes that may come into effect in June next year.

Penalty kicks during regulation time: Under the proposed rule amendment, if a goalkeeper saves a penalty and the ball goes back into play or out of play, or the ball hits the frame of the post and comes back into play, a goal kick will be awarded to the defending team.

Expanded VAR use on corner kicks and second yellow cards: Under this proposal, the VAR team would advise the on-field referee as to whether a corner kick had been incorrectly awarded to the attacking team.
With regard to second yellow cards shown to a player, the proposal would permit the VAR team to review and decide whether the on-field referee made an error in issuing a player a second yellow in a match.

Meanwhile, Arsene Wenger’s proposed “daylight” offside rule change, where an attacking player would only be deemed to be offside if their entire body is ahead of the 2nd to last player of the defending team, may also be tabled at IFAB’s next AGM in March.

....So sad for Hungary..lol...to be honest, i have followed the games, i watched all their 3 games, i must say, as much as i wanted more, i will be easy on the girls for the singular reason called the NIGERIAN FACTOR. It obvious that the team is not cohesive enough, which could be due to late preparation, no one knows how long they were in camp, also were the girl well taking care off, all of these factor contribute alot especially at that age and when you are trying to blend some new players with the old ones. Just saw some tweets this morning saying that the Nigerian Sport Commission is yet to release funds for the dtigress, Money that should have been released since May, so travel arrangements and all can be made...#thenigerian factor......Every other team except Nigeria are already in camp, from Senegal,Uganda..e.t.c..So if you see a Nigeria athlete ,just hail them, e no easy....The almighty Super falcons still have their training kits enroute Morocco, when competition is about to finish, Remember what they did to Favour Ofili too....#its well.
I tell you, it’s an extreme sport representing Nigeria in any competition. I can only think of 2-3 instances where our athletes were successful based on proper planning and preparations

The Junior D’Tigress will square up against Hungary in the round of 16, after finishing in third place in group B.. But we have to spare a thought for the Chinese team that will face the USA in the same round, after losing all 3 group games 😂😂

Meanwhile, the team are only the 2nd Nigerian basketball team to advance to the knockout stage of a FIBA competition 😎
