Nigeria v Portugal dunks off at 10:45am today, with the winner most likely ending up as group runners-up… |
Our quarterfinal match vs Zambia kicks off, on Friday, at 6pm Nigerian time |
Change the name of this thread to “World Champions 2025” 😁 |
The girls surely can’t take this form into round of 16.. |
Truth be told, their ball handling and offensive spacing has been poor |
Halftime Canada 62-16 Nigeria |
End of 1st quarter Canada 23-5 Nigeria |
I just discovered that 14 of the 16 teams are guaranteed a place in the round of 16, that could be a reason why Coach Negedu gambled with benching her best players in the first half 😂 Nonetheless, if the Junior D’Tigress finish 1st or 2nd in the group, they would likely face Hungary or South Korea in the round of 16; and if they advance, will likely face Spain or Japan in the quarterfinals… |
Deltamani:Given the NFF’s history of not rehiring previous coaches who caused them “wahala”, I would go with 2-5 as the coaching crew. |
Junior D’Tigress will take on Canada, tomorrow, at 1:30pm Nigerian time. It will be another tough test for the Nigerian girls, after the Canadians had defeated Portugal by a whopping 39 points 🤯🤯 |
lovewins:Agreed with your points. During the Afrobasket, I noticed that the girls had horrible spacing in their offensive play, and instead passing to the open player in and around the paint, the ball handler would rather try to make difficult shots. Although our FG% was 35%, it would have been around 48% if that first half didn’t happen. Definitely, need all the best players from the start in the next game against Canada |
lovewins:Wow. Nigeria’s future in women’s basketball is brighter then |
lovewins:I guess, as the commentator alluded to, that the coach may have decided to stick with the core of the side that competed at the last junior Afrobasket, for cohesion purposes. But she shouldn’t try that again in the next game lol |
Nora Ezike, who is headed to Stanford, was Nigeria Player Of The Match 🤩 25 PTS | 6 REB | 2 STL | 1 BLK | 8-8 FG |
Full time Nigeria 93-88 China What a turnaround from the Junior D’Tigress in that second half!! |
End of 3rd quarter Nigeria 61-60 China |
Impeccable5248:Eloquently said. I wouldn’t mind Mercy Akide or even Austin Eguavoen coaching the team. With regard to Akide, I know people will say you cannot really compare mens with women’s football; but we could borrow a leaf from Barcelona who hired Guardiola despite not having managed a senior side at the time. His only coaching experience was as coach of the Barcelona academy team. Yet, we all saw how he succeeded with Barca. Heck Akide can’t be worse than Madugu |
The Junior D’Tigress will take on 🇨🇳 at the FIBA U-19 World Cup, tomorrow, at 1pm… |
Fun fact: The Super Falcons have kept cleansheets in their opening 2 games at a WAFCON, for the first time, since the inaugural 1998 edition 🤯 |
For Sunday’s game vs Algeria, this line up won’t be bad ————————-Oluehi——————— —-Alozie——-S.Oladipo—Ohale——-Plumptre—- ——————-Ayinde——Ucheibe————- ————————-Echegini——————- ———Ajibade——-Ihezuo——Babajide—— The likes of Chioma, Okoronkwo and Onumonu can come in in the 2nd half |
Maresca be like “you know what, imma gonna deploy a 6-3-1 formation against these guys on Sunday” 🤣😂 |
BlueRayDick:Yes. In this day and age, we need ambassadors to effectively advocate for our national interests abroad. |
Samueltemi337:The key to us beating them is implementing a quick-passing game to ruthlessly exploit the massive holes they always leave in their defensive third |
BascoVanVeli:😂😂 |
This Netherlands keeper na proper basket 🤣 |
BlueRayDick:His assertions, especially as it relates to reciprocity, are correct. It was fool’ish for Nigerian Immigration policy makers to cut the prior 5-yr multiple entry visa policy to a single-entry visa policy of 3 months validity. What were they expecting other countries to do? To ignore our policy somersault and blindly continue being relatively generous with multiple entry visas for Nigerians? Nah. Diplomacy doesn’t work that way. |

Yoruba man wins election as mayor of New Jersey, you rejoice and say Naijerians are dominating abroad. Igbo man expresses intention to contest election in Lagos, you say "it can never happen, Igbos like to dominate". It's okay for Nigerians to dominate abroad, but not okay for an Igbo man to "dominate" Lagos. Oyibo man says you can't get automatic citizenship by birth in his country anymore, you say he is rącıst and ėvıI. Then from that abroad that you are, you make a post telling an Igbo man that was born and raised in Lagos to go back to his state. You want oyibo man to accept you despite the obvious difference in skin color, culture, mental superiority, geographical divide spanning thousands of miles, language and accent. But you cannot accept a fellow country man just a few kilometers away, who looks exactly just like you, just because he speaks a different language or dialect. Even an Igbo man from Anambra will feel superior to an Igbo man from Abakaliki just because he thinks he is more Igbo than the latter. But if he goes to China he wants to be treated with dignity, like the royalty that he is not. The Black man doesn't hate racism, he just hates the fact that he is the victim. Even a Black man is nicer to an oyibo man than he is to his fellow Black man, not because he is naturally hospitable, but because he wants acceptance by the oyibo man. This why I don't really join protests, because the people protesting are usually no better than the people they're protesting against. When they get the opportunity, they usually do worse harm than they complained about. The Black man may have a beautiful Black skin tone, but an ugly black mind. |
cococandy:They should keep playing politics |
On the same day, the UAE restricted Nigerians who are between 18-45 to flying with a family member/friend in order to gain a tourist visa. And also requires Nigerians who are 45 or older to provide bank statements for the preceding 6 months showing a minimum balance of $10,000, to qualify for a tourist visa.. Now, Canada has also mandated Nigerians, interested in their Express-Entry visa, to show a minimum proof of funds of N17 million.. It’s like all these countries jointly held a meeting on our matter 😂😂 |
Fun fact: The SF 3-0 win over Tunisia was their 62nd WAFCON match, and 46th victory in the competition… |
Chelsea have earned £80 million on qualifying for Sunday’s final! We will earn an extra £40 million if we win the trophy |
