I just discovered that 14 of the 16 teams are guaranteed a place in the round of 16, that could be a reason why Coach Negedu gambled with benching her best players in the first half 😂

Nonetheless, if the Junior D’Tigress finish 1st or 2nd in the group, they would likely face Hungary or South Korea in the round of 16; and if they advance, will likely face Spain or Japan in the quarterfinals…

It won’t be easy for any of those Ex-Super Falcons Internationals who are Coaches to get the job except External Body with more power gets involved..

We have
1• Florence Omagbemi a born winner at any level🏆 🇺🇸
2• Mercy Akide Udoh 🇺🇸
3• Nkiru Okosieme 🇺🇸
4• Ayisat Yusuf Aromire 🇫🇮
5• Rachael Ayegba 🇫🇮/🇬🇧 (Goalkeeper Coach)

This ladies played at the highest level and have worked as head Coaches, Assistant coaches with the National team, U20, Top Clubs, College teams and Academics..

They can pick the best 3 to work together just as they did back in 2016 with Florence, Ann and Nkwocha.
Given the NFF’s history of not rehiring previous coaches who caused them “wahala”, I would go with 2-5 as the coaching crew.

Junior D’Tigress will take on Canada, tomorrow, at 1:30pm Nigerian time.

It will be another tough test for the Nigerian girls, after the Canadians had defeated Portugal by a whopping 39 points 🤯🤯

Then she's not a serious person. Those players weren't exactly good. They just played a poorer opponent in Mali. They literally shot 30% from the field in that final and averaged about the same the entire tournament.

The world cup means the level of competition is different and way better than what they faced in Afrobasket. The talent level is way better and many of these girls are either enrolled in top colleges in the US or are already playing professionally in Europe. Our girls who are attached to clubs in Nigeria do not even have a functional league. Let's be serious please.
Agreed with your points. During the Afrobasket, I noticed that the girls had horrible spacing in their offensive play, and instead passing to the open player in and around the paint, the ball handler would rather try to make difficult shots.

Although our FG% was 35%, it would have been around 48% if that first half didn’t happen. Definitely, need all the best players from the start in the next game against Canada

Fun Fact

Stanford is the D1 program with the most Nigerian by far. (I stand corrected)

Currently have 4 Nigerian in their roster for next season.

1. Nunu Agata
2. Shay Ijiwoye
3. Kennedy Umeh
4. Nora Ezike
Wow. Nigeria’s future in women’s basketball is brighter then

Well, the comeback wouldn't have been necessary had the coach just played the best players from the beginning.
I guess, as the commentator alluded to, that the coach may have decided to stick with the core of the side that competed at the last junior Afrobasket, for cohesion purposes.

But she shouldn’t try that again in the next game lol

Impeccable5248:
🎙I for one fail to understand what is going on in the head of this Super Falcons coach Justin Madugu:

[1] Rinsola Babajide is our most creative attacking player but he keeps yanking her off at half time

[2] In the run-up to the tournament, Francesco Ordega was our most potent attacking threat. She was devastating against Portugal but so far has not seen one minute of action

[3] Madugu keeps playing Asisat Oshoala as a target woman. She is the most ill-suited forward we have for that role but only he fails to see it

[4] When Botswana decided to park the bus, why did he not push Michelle Alozie and Ashleigh Plumtree forward, effectively making them wingers? We needed width badly in that game

[5] For me, this man is clearly out of his depth. If we win the tournament it will be in spite of him, not because of him

[6] All he ever does is make three substitutions at half time. Is he aware that this limits his ability to respond to any changes later on in the game like injuries or conceding a goal?

[7] I for one would bring Randy Waldrum back tomorrow. His team put your mind at rest

[8] So far, only individual talent, favourable officiating decisions and good fortune has won us both games. Such good luck will not continue forever

[9] If you want to know how limited this coach is, ask yourselves if his team has any set piece variation routine. Have you seen any creativity on corners or free kicks?

[10] We actually have the talent to win the World Cup but need a good coach. Maybe the NFF should go for Hope Powell

Just me thinking aloud! -

✍️ Ayo Akinfe
Eloquently said. I wouldn’t mind Mercy Akide or even Austin Eguavoen coaching the team.

With regard to Akide, I know people will say you cannot really compare mens with women’s football; but we could borrow a leaf from Barcelona who hired Guardiola despite not having managed a senior side at the time. His only coaching experience was as coach of the Barcelona academy team.
Yet, we all saw how he succeeded with Barca. Heck Akide can’t be worse than Madugu

Do u think Tinubu's failure to appoint ambassadors till date may be a factor responsible for this foreign policy somersault?
Yes. In this day and age, we need ambassadors to effectively advocate for our national interests abroad.

I saw a guy making an argument that Nigeria has terrible diplomats, hence why we are getting all these bashing from different countries. He's arguing that some of our immigration guidelines/protocols do not favor foreigners so they are only adjusting their immigration rules to match ours.

He said we don't give foreigners long term visas so most of those countries are only reciprocating by tightening the noose around our necks abroad too.

I don't know how true his assertions are tho
His assertions, especially as it relates to reciprocity, are correct. It was fool’ish for Nigerian Immigration policy makers to cut the prior 5-yr multiple entry visa policy to a single-entry visa policy of 3 months validity.

What were they expecting other countries to do? To ignore our policy somersault and blindly continue being relatively generous with multiple entry visas for Nigerians? Nah. Diplomacy doesn’t work that way.

Yoruba man wins election as mayor of New Jersey, you rejoice and say Naijerians are dominating abroad.

Igbo man expresses intention to contest election in Lagos, you say "it can never happen, Igbos like to dominate".

It's okay for Nigerians to dominate abroad, but not okay for an Igbo man to "dominate" Lagos.

Oyibo man says you can't get automatic citizenship by birth in his country anymore, you say he is rącıst and ėvıI.

Then from that abroad that you are, you make a post telling an Igbo man that was born and raised in Lagos to go back to his state.

You want oyibo man to accept you despite the obvious difference in skin color, culture, mental superiority, geographical divide spanning thousands of miles, language and accent.

But you cannot accept a fellow country man just a few kilometers away, who looks exactly just like you, just because he speaks a different language or dialect.

Even an Igbo man from Anambra will feel superior to an Igbo man from Abakaliki just because he thinks he is more Igbo than the latter.

But if he goes to China he wants to be treated with dignity, like the royalty that he is not.

The Black man doesn't hate racism, he just hates the fact that he is the victim.

Even a Black man is nicer to an oyibo man than he is to his fellow Black man, not because he is naturally hospitable, but because he wants acceptance by the oyibo man.

This why I don't really join protests, because the people protesting are usually no better than the people they're protesting against.

When they get the opportunity, they usually do worse harm than they complained about.

The Black man may have a beautiful Black skin tone, but an ugly black mind.

On the same day, the UAE restricted Nigerians who are between 18-45 to flying with a family member/friend in order to gain a tourist visa. And also requires Nigerians who are 45 or older to provide bank statements for the preceding 6 months showing a minimum balance of $10,000, to qualify for a tourist visa..

Now, Canada has also mandated Nigerians, interested in their Express-Entry visa, to show a minimum proof of funds of N17 million..

It’s like all these countries jointly held a meeting on our matter 😂😂
