I said Comey wasn't leading the investigation Rod Rosenstein (Obama appointee) was. Appointing a prosecutor is up to him. He had bipartisan support when he was appointed and the same guy recommended that Comey should be fired.

This country desperately needs that special prosecutor. But how are we sure that Trump won't fire Rosenstein if he (Trump) gets wind of any attempt by the the Deputy AG to appoint a special prosecutor?

The timing was just so wrong. The president could have waited until the conclusion of the Russia investigation before moving against Comey. It all looks like a cover-up attempt.
