With the recent approval from the Federal Executive Council, I am pleased to announce that Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) will undergo major upgrades to transform it into a world-class facility. The upcoming developments include:
1. Rehabilitation and Expansion of Terminal 1 (T1): As our busiest terminal nationwide, T1 will undergo extensive rehabilitation. This includes upgrading the exterior façade, interior finishes, plumbing systems, and mechanical and electrical installations to meet international standards.
2. Expansion of Terminal 2 (T2): T2 will be expanded to accommodate more wide-body aircraft. This includes the extension of both the finger (boarding bridge area) and apron to enhance aircraft handling capacity. And existing hangars in the expansion zone will be relocated to allow for seamless execution of this project.
3. New Road Network: A modern, well-organised, and efficient road network will be developed to improve access to the airport, easing congestion and enhancing the overall travelling experience.

If there's anyone who identifies with her root and very pro Nigeria, it's Nneka. I really do hope she gets the opportunity to wear the green and white at the next Olympics even if it's a mere symbolic gesture.

I hope so too. It’s a shame that FIBA’s nationality-switching process is largely subjective - it boils down to the judgement and decision of the General Secretary.

I really do believe that the GS - being Greek - is afraid that if he approves Nneka’s switch of allegiance, the doors would be open for Naija to also persuade the Antetokoumbo brothers to play for D’Tigers. (Yes, I know Nneka’s case wasn’t helped by the fact that she had played in 2 world cups, donning the red, white and blue).

Similarly, the French basketball authorities may also be fearful that Cameroon would likely persuade Joel Embiid to switch to Cameroon, if Nneka’s application is approved.

These European countries obviously wouldn’t want to easily lose such talented players, so they’re gonna use every word in the FIBA statutes to at least frustrate the switch of allegiance process

Nneka Ogwumike is still keen on playing for Nigeria. Despite the setback of being denied the chance to rep Nigeria at the 2020 Olympics by FIBA, I admire her tenacity in continuing to push for the nationality switch

Hopefully, we will get to see the D’Tigress prospects in the WNBA, who have been mentioned on this thread, suit up for the team at the World Cup qualifying tournament in March, because the WNBA season begins in May..

Fun fact: Since her appointment as D’Tigress Coach in 2023, Rena Wakama is 12-4 in competitive matches.
