The Nigeria system offers no one nothing. I regretted not going to eastern Europe with my friends for my university education when the opportunity came. Now they've graduated and are doing great in Canada and American. Although I got to study a course pharmacy to be precise from GSU which is many people's dream here but the Nigerian system is just rubbish right from the classroom down to practice.
I'm now trying to make my way to Australia though finance is a major challenge. I'm even looking for someone to send me invitation letter then I can find my way once I'm there.
Nothing is working in this ssh it hole especially under Buhari. My advice to anyone is to forget about this patriotic thing... Nigeria don't know anything like that. Ours is a nation where competence and hard work have no reward but slaughtered or sacrificed on the table of tribalism, nepotism, favouritism and so many other things... A nation of double standards. I've been a victim of it and so my dad.
For the future of your unborn kids if you can raise that money to migrate do it and jand.
My worries over the past few months is the fact that the people making their way out of Nigeria now are good working class people earning between 700k to 1M per month. My boss earns nothing less than 2M in a month but he's also on his way out of the pupu hole. This goes further to tell you the type of country we're leaving in.
RIP ENGLISH....sorry bro

My advice, and I will go straight to the points, no psyches:

Make your health your number 1 priority at this time.

If your girlfriend is adding to your stress with your health condition then she's not the one for you.

Focus your effort on getting your life together - health and job. You didn't say your age or qualification so it's difficult to advise in that regard.

Stay in your mother's house as you can't afford your own place yet - I don't think your Mum wants you out.

The girl is a liability, drop her like she's hot. Now! If as a girlfriend she's giving you this level of pressure, believe me, you won't enjoy being married to her.

My candid advice.
Nna small boys full diz Nairaland. This ur advice is not for 28 years old nigga

The fact that a man is the head of the home is strange to you ?
Are you married ? If my prospective wife cannot respect me enough to trust my judgement and accept the consequence with contentment when they go bad then then marriage will be a battle field.

If the wife wants to make herself heard she has to do it with wisdom because the fact that the husband is making an error of judgement does not stop him from being the husband and the head.

It doesnt give the woman the right to berate and lampoon him.

Even if a man is a cleaner at work he must be the chairman of his own local government(his home).

By the way my fiancee is abroad
and yes I have broken up the relationship once but we found a way to mend issues. I broke it up as a result of these same fears of subtle lack of respect but she came back and because I truely love her I took her back and made efforts to work it out.

I have made her understand the type of man that I am. I assured her I will work hard to protect her and also fight for the best for our family and even if I ere sometimes she needs wisdom to manage things then.

She is the best woman but it seems she still doesnt understand or cant comprehend these intricate husband-wife concept and I might have to count my teeth with my tongue sooner.

To the objective critiques I appreciate your time and effort.
Well technically the wedding is up to us, I just kind of made that statement to see if she would give any kind of reference to my preference on how I wanted the wedding to be which obviously it appears she couldnt be bothered what I wanted of preferred.

The concern for me now is , is this lack of concern for my preference one off or pervasive? Is it a manifestation of a deep character flaw?
I grew up with the understanding that wives should pander to their husbands preferences. You know in this situation, a compromise of some sort would have been very pacifying but the apparent volte face and lack of concern or even regard for my preference looks like a sign of a deep character flaw.

In addition, I am not really a fan of women who are vocal. I always believed as africans our wives must learn to stay in thier place and value the uniqueness of that position. Its a very delicate and tricky concept to understand so I am not surprised by the vitriol I am getting from a few ignorant posters.

I do hope someone can comprehend the deep things I am not sure I have been able to properly communicate ...
Bro, besides the fact that you are a Christian, you also practice African traditional religion(bolded). If you want a woman who isn't vocal, go to where you are more likely to find one (village), African traditional religion is still very much alive in that location. (Genesis 1) God made women to be our help mate, meaning they are created to help us on an equal level. If she isn't allowed to say her mind regarding issues and u are not ready accept her opinion because she's a woman, how will she perform her God given role of helping you bro?

Second issue bro, calling people ignorant because we don't share your opinion on this issue makes you seem inflexible and intolerant. That's not a good sign for a husband bro.

Have you all seen what a country looks like?

Not all those rubbish gardens you find around Lagos which no one is allowed to enter,.

This is a cemetery in Canada where people visit daily , it is maintained and cleaned daily

You don't have to force people not to take a shot in the gutters or on the lawns

Drive around oshodi apapa express way in the morning and see humans beings taking a shìt with no care in the world
Would you like to be buried in an open field like that? This is why people pay to bring their love ones back home. If you watch the video you will not see any other grave tomb there. Don't pray for such, it's a real shame

If you want to enjoy Lagos, live close to where you work. Honestly, you will enjoy it at a cheap rate. There are beaches everywhere and you can organize weekend trips. Cheap hotels for weekend relaxation, markets and shopping malls de plenty, food joints, and so on. Enter hotel, pay little and swim throughout. Booming businesses and thriving night life. Uber, taxify and local cabs are plenty

For Abuja, green trees, good road network but can be boring. Ajebutters are plenty here with too much forming. Cheap food but expensive accomodaton.

You can compare the two, if you like a cosmopolitan city, chose Lagos but if you like a cool place, with aesthetics chose Abuja.

Lagos can survive without govt fund, Abuja can't.

I'm still wondering about this OP, is it possible that she's depressed or what? Because something happens in your cousin's house means all Nigerians are guilty, and this is someone that claims to be a master degree holder who graduated in US grin
My own 2nd cousin has seven boys. They keep trying for a girl without success. So what if your cousin wants a boy because she's insecure, dont you have enough issues in your own life to focus on? I'm not usually harsh with ladies but this is getting ridiculous. As an educated person, tell your cousin to start acquiring assets in her kid's name. That's all, secure their future. Any man can leave you if he wants whether you sacrifice for him or not, you can't hold a man down for any reason except he wants it or you go supernatural.

He never thought it necessary to revamp the Warri seaport, Port Harcourt seaport.

Even his native Bayelsa deserve an international seaport. But Jonathan forgot himself.
He was Nigerian president, not president of Bayelsa state or south south. As a head of state, he should not be partial or sentimental in handling our affairs

Kai....I just read from page 1 to this page in a few minutes and cant help but realise that the average Nigerian has been condemned to a life of hopelessness, a complex life of uncertainty, fear and insecurity. The quality of his life is at the mercy of the mistakes and excesses, actions and inactions of the political class.

The truth is that Nigeria has never really been a country, there has never been that necessary national cohesive force that would normally birth patriotic tendencies of any sought, be it ethnic, religious, political, a common history or ideology. Sometimes I wonder what Nigerians mean when they say they are patriotic citizens! with all the hate, bitterness, ethic and class profiling in this country! wait first, what is usually on the minds of the Nigerian soldiers when they breath their last breath in ultimate sacrifice for the country? Is it thoughts of pride and confidence in a system that guarantees the livelihoods of their kids and loved ones?

Bros, walahi we have been blinded both by hunger and a dead educational system. I GIVE UP ON NIGERIA!! to think that me, a graduate of four years can not identify the north on the compass of my life or guarantee the welfare or safety of my unborn kids sickens me, and some hypocritical elements probably above 25 in their fathers house or squatting with a friend comes online( with his free 10mb MTN bundle bonus) to defend a system that failed even before their fathers were born! While offline, they grumble and whine why NPOWER stipends have not been paid...or hope and pray there BET9JA tickets don't "cut" but won't mind borrowing credit from MTN to preach the gospel of hope!!

Me am tired,I hold a first degree in geology and would appreciate recommendations for a cheap school for MSC in the USA Have about 10k dollars at the moment, and honestly would not mind doing dishes or driving for uber to supplement while at this.
Thanks

And that’s the reason i said if we have a good system that is working and they strictly enforce it, then at the end citizens won’t have any other choice than to abide. Nepotism is the common practice in our government owned business, so why will it grow when they keep giving job to people who do not deserve it. They should create a working system, enforce it and then see what happens. Rwanda, despite their political crisis 20 years ago, she is now taking the picture of how a working-system country should be. The Dubai we re even talking about was changed by a man which his name can never be forgotten in the history of UAE. I pray we find a man like that in our dear country
Well said bro, but Nepotism is everywhere, if not two Bushes would not rule America. That man can be me or you but since you are not on ground, I have a better chance than you.

Get your facts straight, I ain’t doing menial job here and moreover if I’m doing menial job here it is much more better doing nothing back at home because the country is driving with no positivity on sight, you are here talking bad about people outside the shores of Nigeria where as they re trying to be a betterment of their self not to constitute nuisance to the country that is failing us. On the part of you saying we the citizens should contribute towards the growth of the country; if there is a working system in Nigeria I bet it, it might take time but everyone will blend the system at the later end. A good example is Dubai where they put every rules and regulations in place such as bypass walking route, where you must wait for the light to turn to green before you cross the road, same for the traffic light and do you want to tell me they don’t have Africans or Nigerians driving or walking on these roads, it is because they have a working system and everyone of us is abiding by that. Lastly, I was in your shoes last year but when I left the country that’s when I realized we still have a long way to go. God Bless Nigeria.

NOTE: when you are talking about we citizens are also spoiling the country, please can you please answer this question; our Nigerian airways that have gone down the rail, are we the citizens the cause of that also?
Bro, the attitude of citizens towards government owned establishment is not good. We don't treat government owned business like we will treat our own. Hence there will be mismanagement. This cuts across all sectors not just aviation. There's no present leader who wasn't part of the citizen before he or she got elected into political position. If a leader spends time in office and doesn't embezzle money, it's still his people that will mock him for being foolish. No one expects you to hold political position and remain the same.

Cant believe someone is defending his country blindly, I’m proud of my country anywhere but let’s face the reality; nothing is working in this country, youare talking about banana island having constant light, in which the fraction of banana island to Nigeria community as whole is negligible. I’m residing in United Arab Emirates and I can say they have gone far ahead of us in so many areas, I wonder the country that was nothing 30 years ago is now the center of attractions for most tourist. Everything is working here; security; you are free to stroll around at any hours of the day and nobody will be targeting your purse or bag or the fear of being shot, infrastructures; good roads and modern schools, big government hospitals e.t.c, TRANSPORTATION; I find it so hard to believe that during the year 1984, Nigerian airways had like 15 or more airplanes while Emirates airline had just two but you can see what the situation is right now. My base point is Nigeria keep getting worse everyday with our leaders doing nothing other than embezzling our money and resources. I just pray Nigeria should be great again
Bro, as a Nigerian(which you claim) you are in Dubai, doing menial work and developing their country while leaving in bed space under terrible conditions. Bro, is that life? What have you done on your part to contribute towards Nigeria's development or you think it's to complain online that will solve our problem? If I drink water and throw the bottle out of the window of my car, am I not adding to the waste problem in my community? If I see refuge on the road, pick it and dispose it properly, am I not helping to solve the problem? One of our problems which you failed to remember is that we contribute little or nothing towards making our country great, yet we are part of the problem.
