[quote author=skillful01 post=62785227]Here lies the problem... Majority of graduates with the First Class grade here in Nigeria, have absolutely nothing to show which can benefit the society. Please it will be better, if you showed statistics to prove this point? So that it wouldn't seem like you arrived at a Hasty conclusion without bases. |
A croacoach can not be innocent in a gathering of fowls, That's what happens when you announce to a group of Embittered third class graduates or those whose results weren't up to that grade , That you have a First Class, some of them try as much as possible to make you realize that your academic achievement Is worthless, since they couldn't get it, they will as well make those who got it feel like they've wasted their precious time. (Operation pull him down). That aside, it's really baffling that Nigerians celebrate Entertainment over education. No one is passionate again about achieving much academically, when you look at most Nigerian youths all you see is a potential wizkid, davido, lil Kesh and the likes, where are our Einsteins and Teslas! Even among the Nigerian students in school, you will see that their only passionate about money e. g when you ask an average Nigerian structural engineer and an American, why they Chose their course, it is very likely that you will come across the below.... . American Structural Engineer: well, from my teenage years till now I've always been interested in structures, how an object could serve an aesthetic purpose and yet functionally serve a different one, how can something be useful as a work of art and still do other things... what is behind this multi diversity? these are the questions I seek to answer, and also why I took up this course. Nigerian structural Engineer: Heh! Structural Engineering! no go near that course oh, money dey na, once you graduate na shell straight, infact top ten best courses in Nigeria na structural engineering be no 3 or 2, nai make me pick the course oh. Smh. |
This is a welcome development. But these frequent shows that revolve around Entertainment alone, make it seem like Africans are only good at singing and dancing, it portrays the Average African as an Entertainer no more no less. Entertainment shows, and competitions have the most attractive prizes both in the secular world.... and now even in the church. When will prizes that encourage innovative thinking be made to be as attractive or rather more attractive than those for entertainers. I read a book where a person suggested that proponents of Negritude would have us believe that Africans are blessed with a soul and not reason they can sing, feel and dance but not think. Recent occurrences support the above claim. The Use of the mind should be Provoked by organising things Like this, with even more mouth watering prizes. peace# |

greencard:spot on bro.... this is exactly my point. |
macof:Please show me where I "hailed" Davido. |
ANDJMBOY:I think there's a difference between, you don't "look" your age, and you don't "act" your age. |
ruggedadventure:he doesn't need to, he should maintain his style of music just like when he started....But if he wants to, he can. |
Sharplakezy:Music is more than the language it was written in bro, it is a universal language. That explains why phyno has fans in Ghana and western Nigerian, that explains why Sarkodie have fans in Nigeria. That explains why some Nigerians love Indian music... However my point actually was not solely about language, it was more about the artist being himself and not changing his style of music to become international, because when you're good at what you do, everyone(no matter where they are in the world) will appreciate it. |
Sharplakezy:Rihanna is a better musician, because she makes better music, which only culminated in making her an international star, One begets the other. You mean singing in languages other than English makes an artist low? Then how about shakira that sings some of her songs in Spanish and still record Millions of views on YouTube. does it make her low? The most popular song on YouTube ( more than a billion views) despacito, was not sung in English, does it make the artist low. Fela performed most of his songs in pidgin, even when he went outside the country did it make him low? An artist goes international when he's good at what he does and "remains himself" not by becoming a copycat. |
Sharplakezy:So since Rihanna is an international star, bigger than wizkid by every standard, and her consumers scatter across wider regions. Do you see her singing in Ibo, Hausa, or French to cater for foreign consumers? did fela ever change his style to become the international musician he became? Does a musician necessarily need to loose his personality, deny his ethnicity, or change his style of singing to become international? |
[quote author=NwaAmaikpe post=62608530] She is defacing our prestigious National Jersey with her deformed body. Just for likes, a full grown man will act like a retarded infant, just for likes. what a mystery.... |
He's not as young as he looks |
WotzupNG:With the way he's wearing glasses nowadays , I think he's fast become the New Rick Ross. |
sweetveek:I'll recommend Vasudevan for Biochemistry And Guyton's physiology for physiology, Still try out other books to know which ones work best for you, the above remains my personal opinion. |

You're welcome bro. Good textbooks in Anatomy include *Clinically Oriented anatomy by Keith Moore. *Gray's anatomy *Last anatomy *Frank Netters atlas.(use it alongside any of the above textbooks) I will personally recommend Keith Moore because of its depth, and if you are studying anatomy as a course. cc Nabeeltnabs |

Questions 1.What is the function of the supraspinatus. 2.Which muscle is known as the most important arm flexor 3.Why is dislocation common in the glenohumeral joint 4.where is the sternocleidomastodeus located and under what classification, is it placed. |
Adduction itself is a function of muscular action, to achieve 10 degrees adduction(ie, to move the arm 10 degrees away from the body) the Supraspinatus plays that role. However to achieve beyond that, the much stronger fibres of the Deltoid takes over, till 90 degrees, but to achieve a full range of 180 degrees, the arm must be medially rotated and the scapula must be made to rotate about itself to direct the glenoid cavity upwards. Muscles of this joint includes *The Supraspinatus *The Infraspinatus *The deltodieus *The latissimus dorsi *The subscapularis *Teres minor The anterior muscle *The coracobrachialis *The pectoralis major.
|
THE SHOULDER JOINT The Glenohumeral joint, is the meeting point between the glenoid cavity of the scapula and the head of the humerus, as the name suggests. It is actively stabilized by a band of muscles, that stretch from the humerus to the scapula, they're know as the Rotator cuff muscles. inferior support in this joint is minimal so dislocation is common in this region, The pectoralis major, which is the most important arm flexor, and the latissimus dorsi, the most important arm extensor, have an antagonistic effect on each others action, when they act simultaneously they cancel each others action leaving a combined medial rotation component. In other to achieve complete flexion or extension the Supraspinatus and the deltoid must cancel the Adduction component, while the infraspinatus(The supraspinatus Twin,) must cancel the medial rotation component of the pectoralis major. |

hazan041:Your First year in the University will be an initiation into an entirely different world, where you will have a first hand experience of what freedom truly is, where you call the shots!, where the decision and choices you make stands and no one, not your parents except you will be there to guide you. In class most lecturers will teach you with all sense of "I Dont care", so be wise... you will not be getting advice like you were in secondary school. There will be a whole lot of Extracurricular activities, like Freshers Welcome, Matriculation afterparty don't get carried away, because exams will always come faster than you imagine, There're many other things you will experience when you eventually get into school, but I'll leave that for you to discover yourself, above all be close to God, Happy Admission! |
hazan041:Your welcome, Your presence is graciously appreciated. |
CLASSIFICATION OF MUSCLES IN THE SHOULDER GIRDLE. *Muscles that migrate from the head Trapezius, Sternocleidomastodeus, Omohyoideus. Anterior muscles Subclavius muscles(which acts as a dynamic ligament to the sternoclavicular joint) serratus anterior, The pectoralis major,(the most important arm flexor). Posterior muscles Rhombodieus Major, Rhombodieus Minor, Levator Scapulae. |
Mystic216:You're welcome. |
Mystic216:Congratulations bro, You're welcome. Well for now in 100 level, all your courses will still be basic science courses, however with some modifications.. it will be a little more advanced. When you register for your courses, the necessary books will be given to you in the various departments. |
hazan041:Congratulations bro, welcome to da club! I wish you success in your academic pursuit. |
I'll start with the anatomy THE SHOULDER GIRDLE The shoulder girdle is constituted by the scapula(shouder blade)and clavicle (collar bone) , it plays a principal function of connecting the upper limb to the axial skeleton through a fragile but important link... THE sternoclavicular joint. this joint have a direct connection with the the trunk(it is important to know that the sternoclavicular joint is the only joint in the upper limb that directly articulates with the trunk). The Acromioclavicular joint (the joint between the acromion process and the clavicle) acts as an adhesion between the clavicle and scapula, it is supported by the coracoclavicular joint, which helps to prevent excessive medial and lateral movement in this region. Due to the fact that the only joint acting as an intercessor between the axial skeleton and upper limb is the sternoclavicular joint, (any other constituent is just muscle), It allows a wide range of movement for the shoulder girdle, unlike what is observable in the pelvic girdle.
