People look at results of slows causalities and term them accidental in that way connoting sudden causality or at least using a tone that insufficiently represents the effect in question.

Johannes Kepler a brilliant astronomer was observing the surface of the moon with his telescope, he could see moon craters which are perfect circles on the surface of the moon, he was moved with excitement and he concluded.

"The moon craters are depressions rather than mounds, Such perfect geometrical formations as such accurate circles cannot be an accidental effect of uncharted nature rather is a trade mark of intelligence"

In this conclusion for the cause of moon craters kepler arrived at a closure that Moon craters must have being made by intelligent being on the moon, it cannot be natural, it is too a geometrical perfection to be natural.

Now we have realised that Kepler is wrong, Moon craters are perfect geometrical depressions correct but they are not results of intelligence but rather chaotic natural agents.

A rock of great speed colliding with the surface of the moon would create a local explosion perfectly symmetrical in every direction thus birthing perfect circles on the moon.

So inability to deduct natural process only betrays the persons inability, it does not in any way limit the said process to be outside the confines of natural process, inability to comprehend the natural process behind sexual reproduction does not in anyway just like Kepler mean this is not utterly natural it means you are unable to comprehend this process.

For the fact that Johannes Kepler's submission on what actually caused moon craters, was discredited and proven to be wrong does not in any way serve as a justifiable reason to subject every other phenomenon that exists on earth or in the cosmos, to be explained only as products of natural processes, as that would be an irrational generalization, however you are At liberty to explain or prove Why you think every thing must exist in the confines of natural processes.

Sexual reproduction started long before we came into the picture. All creatures that reproduce sexually such as humans, monkeys, rats, insects, and maybe even plants, inherited the ability to reproduce sexually from a very primitive common ancestor. Prior to that, our ancestors reproduced by cloning themselves,

I don't think the problem is about whether sexual reproduction is confined to humans alone or not , rather it is why the need for reproduction is necessary in the first place, considering the fact that we exist in a world with an impersonal origin?
why should evolution make things better from stage to stage and not the other way round.

And talking about this common primitive ancestor that living things came from, did it appear out of nowhere, if not how did it come to be?

Maybe there's a possibility that some of their stage fights are prearranged but definitely not all, people sustain injuries because of these fights, some have to undergo surgery, it's as serious as that, not to talk about the rigorous training, I agree that some things are staged for entertainment sake but not all.

The only thing fake there is their back stage drama. However just like boxing, the fights, the back slams, and the injuries are as real as life.

Religious people have been described by atheists, as bigoted, myopic, insincere and all that, but on a second thought who has these qualities? a major arguments that
will prove the genuineness of theism is the proof of the existence of the supernatural, and many atheists have tried to ridicule this claim by writing it off as fallacious.

Let us for once assume the atheist to be correct, and imagine that paranormal events do not really occur in this world, for someone who is not myopic or one sided in reasoning, this means that all the miracles prophecies we see in churches were prearranged. So from this perspective how do you..

explain how prophecies occur in churches today..... taking Nigeria as a case study thousands of people flock these mega churches every Sunday and the pastors or (prophets specifically), are expected to walk to any random person in the building and tell him/her what they wouldn't on a normal day share with anyone, if we were to go by your logic that it was STAGED!, circumstantial things happen, people do call on the pastors attention, and still get ministered to, my question is how do these men get away with this constantly....without getting caught, even if they have the greatest photographic memory, what about uncontrollable events.

Before you call the belief in the supernatural an African ideology, know that mega churches have also thrived outside this continent, neither is it because of Christianity, because Africans have always believed in the existence of the supernatural.

So atheists as open minded individuals, who unlike religious people subject their beliefs to thorough scrutiny before adopting them, I would like to know how you came to arrive at the conclusion that the supernatural does not exist.

Again , wrong on many counts.

Firstly, it very presumptive and arrogant of you to say or imply that atheist don't understand religion. 99 to 100% of atheists on Nairaland were once religious, and deal with religious people all their lives. I am confident that I, and most Nairaland atheists know and understand more about religion, the psychology of religion, the history of most religions than you and perhaps the far majority of Nigerian Christians.

Wrong again.
An anonymous forum gives a voice to everyone, especially those who don't have a voice in a lunacy bin almost 100% filled with religious nuts of very shade.
To prove your hypocrisy here, just take a look at the front page of the religious section , and tell us how many atheist threads you count compared to the number of Christian threads.
I mean, 100,000 pastors (my estimate) mount to pulpits, the airwaves, street banners, on buses, on the road every single day in Nigeria berating non-believers, those that don't buy their Middle East stone- age bullshytes. We hardly complain publicly because we are outnumbered 1 million to 1.
We find our voices online to rebut the bullshytes that you poison our society with.
And here you are, sulking, crying victim. undecided
That's is called hypocrisy.

For some reasons I I've tried confining my argument to belief in God or the existence of God as a concept and not the different methods devised by men to worship Him, which sometimes, people take undue advantage of, to perpetuate mischief
What I said about ignorance was referring to your inability to explain the cause of material existence yet being so sure it is not God, you can't explain the origin of life yet you're so sure there's no brain behind it.

shocked shocked shocked

Like, are you serious ?

What planet do you live in ?

Are you so ignorant of history ?

I live on earth and I'm not ignorant of history, however our focus was on present day Nigeria, have the gospel ever been preached to you at gun point? or has there ever being a time in your life when Christians broke into your home to preach the gospel without your permission if there is, pray tell.

My point exactly..... I would be surprised if you knew, now that you have agreed that you don't, why mock other people's beliefs and viewpoint on the universal origin, when you have no knowledge of how life came to be? what makes you so sure that you are right and every other opposing view is wrong, why are you so confident about the fallibility of the theistic stance even in ignorance.

Correction Sir.
It behoves everyone to scoff at irrational thinking and irrational acts.
There is plenty to mock about religion and the behaviors of religious nuts.

Secondly, I don't remember, and I very sure that no religious person can say that they have accosted in their homes, offices, on the Streets, the trains or buses by evangelical atheists.
The opposite is the case. Christians award themselves the sole prerogative of harassing and telling other people that whatever they believe, other than Jesus and the Christian god, are wrong and condemnable.

Why would you call something you don't understand irrational? before now, it would have sounded logical to believe in a geocentric universe, if we were to base our thinking on just what we see, because to the layman the earth physically, does not seem to be carrying out active motion. does it really mean the earth is static? would it be wise to mock those that belief In a moving earth?

The only reason Why that seem to be the case, is because they are in the minority, try and imagine Nigeria being populated with the kind of atheists you see here on nairaland, the situation will be far worse.

and lastly Christians do not force their doctrines down anyone's throat, you are always at liberty to accept or reject their message, when they come to you, saying that people get accosted In their homes and work place, like they have no will power, is pure exaggeration.

true, but despite the fact that the atheist is uncertain, most of the ones on nairaland do not act like are, they look down on religious people and scoff at their beliefs. Surely, that shouldn't be the way someone searching for answers should act. One would expect that they will respect other people's views, because they themselves do not know how we came to be, but the reverse is always the case.

What is God? I'm sure you'd be unable to provide a definite reply. God morphs, through traditions, time and cultures. As far as I can tell, God is a human idea, a pretend solution to the problem of where we come from and who we are.

wow so God is nothing but a pretend solution to the problem of where we come from and who we are.

This is really interesting, I would really want to know how you came to be so sure that the concept of God is just an idea and there's no chance at all that He exists, was any concrete research carried out by you, or you just brought it up your sleeves.

I would take your assertion serious, if you could at least brief me on how the world came into existence as well as the origin of life, and with the certainty with which you speak of God's inexistence I expect that the mode of research you adopted is 100% full proof.

Hi Learners,

In Spanish, we have masculine and feminine words. For examples :

Chico (m) - Boy
Chica (f) - Girl
Elefante (m) - Elephant
Universidad (f) - University

A student of mine once asked how she can differentiate between masculine words from feminine words?

Good question. You can differentiate them by mastering the following codes.

For Masculine words : for every word that ends with any of the following letter is a masculine word (L-O-R-E-N-S)

For Feminine words : for every word that ends with any of the following letter is a feminine word (D-A-Z- cion-tud-dad-tad-umbre)

LITTLE TEST FOR YOU

From the 5 list of words below, please tell us the masculine and/or feminine words by using (M) - Masculine and (F) for Feminine words.

1. La mesa - Table (m or f)
2. El perro - Dog (m or f)
3. El autobus - Bus (m or f)
4. La iglesia - Church (m or f)
5. Mano - Hand (m or f)

Thank you for learning.

Atheists. Oh such idiots. Who born dem talk that thing? Dem dey mad.. Something dey worry dem for head.

So wait first, who create them? Hahaha. Na dem create dem self? It is in the Bible... The book God wrote and handed to Moses.... Go and see. It even says You are a fool. Pakam. End of story.

How can you look at everything in the world and say there is no God? Ah you must be under the control of the devil. The devil has blinded you to the realities of this world.

Maybe it is you who sees things where none exists. Maybe faith is a thin veneer covering the mind's eye, subtly coloring your perspective and reality.
Maybe it isn't I who is blinded. Maybe it is your eyes that needs opening.

if I were to ask you to why you are certain of the inexistence of God, I'm sure your reply will say that you're not certain of it, if that is the case, I don't think you're in the position to talk about enlightenment to theists, from what I've noticed, atheism is a belief system founded in uncertainty and heavy confusion, hence the job of opening our eyes with all due respect shouldn't be done by you guys.

Belief in God is logical, That's why trying to explain the origin of life and the universe while sidelining the God concept always ends in confusion.

We may bask in the temporary euphoria that atheistic ideologies have to offer, because they tell you that you alone dictates what happens in your life and can do whatever you want with it., that you are a byproduct of a biochemical accident, and have nothing but coincidence to thank for your Existence.

But truth be told, all that atheism has to offer is hopelessness, dejection, profound emptiness and a life where your perception of the universe and life in general becomes rooted in meaninglessness, Until you accept that there's a reason for life and acknowledge the existence of the brain behind creation who is no one else but
God.

The atheist only reject the existence of God, they however do not know the origin of the universe, neither can they claim certainty in God's inexistence(because they're not certain). I don't think an ideology like that deserves to be spread, evangelism is done by people who are confident in what They believe not the confused.
