bro please talk what you know....that department is one of the strongest department in that school in terms of bookwise.
the students read to stupor... I was in the faculty of social science... had my 2.1 above 4 points without blocking any lecturer.....even when I gift my project supervisor a wine he refused it...I got sharp A on my project....he was so impressed with my work.

ecostat is one department in uniben I know if you're good you're good....

you can easily get a first class in that department without stress....

all my courses...I always know my score prior the results is released

Anyone with brain should try somewhere else not uniben. University of Ibadan is even better than you so called uniben. Uniben derive joy in seeing their students fail,they don't care. Their hostels except for keystone is dirty. Hall 4 and 5 looks like where pigs live. Imagine chocking 8 students in a room meant for 4 persons. Once you enter hall 4, what welcomes you is beans and poo. Is their auditorium that can't even accommodate a faculty. A good student should seek somewhere not uniben.

I know uniben more than you. I have seen students that sort from 100 level to final year in engineering especially production engineering. Ask anyone in production engineering if they don't sort there. Go to Eco stat and ask if they don't sort there too or is accounting that they don't. Don't let you friend deceive you. She was too dull to see the hand writing on the wall. Her father doesn't want to join the sorting team because he may soil his name. One of the few department that don't sort is Mathematics.

300level Mathematics is not impossible. Mathematics education in Nigeria here is even below par compared to what is obtainable in Asia, especially China.
Writing Mathematical proofs remains the most difficult thing to learn in Mathematics. If you learn how to construct proofs and follow Mathematical arguments, you're good to go. I actually learnt how to write proofs from studying Number Theory. There's a book dedicated to that, I can send it you via email if you're interested.

My own take is that you don't give up on Mathematics and please don't even bring up blocking, if you're really interested in this field then share your email let me send you good books. However, you must dedicate a minimum of 16 hours on daily basis of your time to master the contents in these books, University Mathematics is not impossible, you can keep up if you work hard enough.

I'm a UNIBEN student too. Although in Mathematics department like you, my moniker clearly spells out my course in that Department.
I just concluded my 100level and approaching 200level.
Judging from your statement above, it seems you do not have(or have lost) your passion for Mathematics.
It's almost impossible do well in this field if you're not passionate towards Mathematics.
Abstract topics such as Group Theory, Topology, Differential Geometry, Real Analysis, Lebesgue Measures and Abstract Algebra are replete with theorems and proofs and trying to memorize them for exams is almost hopeless and useless.

My Suggestion.

Try to fall in love with this discipline, Mathematics is a wonderful subject, if you don't, you'll only end up feeling Mathematics is not for you and that you're probably wasting your time in school.

it's not a matter of passion anymore. I had d passion and I know I put in so much effort in my academics. this 300l was d toughest for me, I read n read, attended different tutorials, meet up with people I thought I would never talk to just to learn from them. getting to the exam hall u just wonder where they got the questions from. the major thing is your money. if u have your money to block u will graduate with any grade u want.

everything about school is so difficult. exam questions are always different from what we do in class. only uniben will be joining 2 or 3 maths courses to become just one course. imagine writing an exam but u don't even know what u are writing. sometimes I just don't wanna read anymore but my conscience won't all me to. have already started learning a skill o, I cannot kill myself because of school

u can only improve your maths skill when u are still in secondary school. come to the University and see maths that makes no meaning. I am studying maths and am in 300l. I can't wait to graduate with my 2.1 though but secondary school maths is totally different and cheap. imagine having to learn a proof n theorems that is about 3 pages

this does not only apply to a job employee o. I remember when I carried my self to learn how to make bags. I enrolled for a year with 40k but I ended up staying for just 3months. and one would think I wasn't able to learn anything. I learnt everything and was even more perfect than my madam. but the 3 months was hell for me. I don't know if she was jealous I was a fast learner or I offended her in d past of which I don't know, but d way she treats me ehn is unbearable. we are both 3 trainee under her but from Monday to Saturday am d only one she sends on errands. I will pick her children from school and she expects me to trekk it because the school is very far, she will send me to do market without transport fare. i remember calling her I was sick and won't be able to come to work and she said I should stop coming if I know I will be giving filmsy excuses and that was my first time of taking permission from her that I won't be coming. thank God I finally quitted. after I stopped coming she called me one day and ask why I stopped work, I just replied her nothing and that was the end. I even have different bag contracts now.

Met a guy April this year, we seem to have a lot in common and I really like this guy. we started dating and things have been going fine until last week. is it that am depressed or what? am a 20 years old girl and I totally lost interest in everything especially my academics. am an introvert but I think it just got worse because now I get irritated at the sight of crowd around me. I just hate crowd.....and it's not helping me at all. I can't make friends and don't have any friend. I am a very pretty girl but no guy is ready for a serious relationship with me that I want and this has made me exclude my self totally from guys. should I even say am scared of my own self? and recently I observed I get angry at any slightest provocation unlike me that don't talk even when insulted. infact I just get angry at nothing. do I need an advice?
