aswani: I am happy to discuss GRV but I didn't want to conflate it with Jimmy Agbaje.
I really don't understand how Ndi Yoruba can be considered tribalists when President Tinubu lost Osun and Lagos states. In other states Tinubu won, I am certain he didn't poll more than 65%, I actually remember he won a higher percentage in some Northern states than in his own region, he also had more Northern votes in total than Ndi Yoruba ones.
Are you confusing Ndi Yoruba with Ndigbo by any chance because those were voting their own son over 85%?
I honestly don't think Pa Awo will ever consider that President Tinubu is one of his disciples but that's my personal opinion sha.
Awolowo bloc or not, the fact still stands that Ndi Yoruba are no longer on the outside looking in when it comes to National politics and that would not have happened if they are tribalistic.
Per that WhatsApp group, I thank God no one has been foolish enough to invite me becos dem go hear wen if dem try am. I say Awo group because Obasanjo was in power as close as 1999-2007 but (some) Yoruba people still claim Yoruba has not been in power. But we know that it’s Awo group that has been sponsoring that rhetorics. Now they are finally in power and Nigerians have seen that they are just running the country with that Awolowo template of “Yoruba first” while propagating lies and propaganda through the press. Awolowo used his Tribune Newspaper then to sell lies against every other Nigerian tribe but his own. Tinubu has picked up from where he stopped by buying up the traditional media to dish out lies. |

Umahi has a chance in the sense that he was originally in anpp before joining pdp and supported tinubu butr oshiomhole is ahead....
Aligning with apc is not just individuals coming to APC,your region must start voting them well Oh! So your party has no plans of addressing the marginalization cry of the southeast abi? What matters is who is loyal to Tinubu. We are waiting. |

Before the results were purportedly uploaded in the irev, didn't their agents have their own copies? Why didn't they prove they won? Why are you so deceptively bitter?
The sultan, buhari and emirs are those that truly represent the north and until they speak, you cannot ascribe anything from a nobody to the north.these nobodies have been speaking yet the north always does the opposite yet you say they are relaying the feelings of the north.how? So bode George, joe odumakin, davido, obj etc views represent Yoruba views? Does umahi or ikpeazu views represent Igbo views? Does ayade speak for SS?
The north will always complain but will still follow religion I asked a question…. When has Sultan ever spoken against a sitting president? |

garfield1: When you say the north, you amaze me.so you equate the views of view people in the north with no political capital as the views of the north of about 100 mil people? Have you heard the sultan, emirs or buhari speak against tinubu,at least most northerners respect them? Oga,you don't know the north more than me.2023 clearly showed that I know the north more than anyone here.i consistently told you that they will divide votes in the absence of buhari on the ballot and that they don't rate atiku.by 2027,you will accept new realities when it is late Tinubu didnt just pose as friend of the north sir,he simply did what the love which is religion.the north loves Islam and he flew the ticket to stand a chance.besides,he had made friends across the north for many years long before obi became governor... The north doesn't care about performance but their interests and tinubu hasn't hurt their interests.most of tinubu's appointments are either SW or north so there is no marginalization here.all this FAAN ,CBN matter are just raised by a few selfish northern people with no capital.
The north didn't vote giants like awo, zik, incumbents like gej or obj,obi stands no chance.if atiku contests, votes will divide and obi will collect.if obi comes alone, same thing Show me any instance of the Sultan speaking against a sitting president. I’m waiting. And talking about last election, there’s nobody that didn’t know that in the absence of Buhari, the north will divide their votes. The question is how many of it genuinely went to Tinubu before the IREV was shut down to write results for him? And when you accuse those criticizing Tinubu for relocating CBN of lacking political capital and speaking of their selfish interest alone, it’s like saying Ohaneze is speaking of their own interest and has no political capital. My point is, while you might think those that are speaking have no political capital, they are simply relaying the feelings the generality of the northern people about a particular issue. That’s why they are called opinion molders. |

I always ask, How did Obi rig the election in the south-east?
This is someone without a single councilor from his party, LP.
Are you saying that the governors of the APC, PDP, and APGA, whose parties were front-runners in the presidential election, abandoned their party candidates to rig for Peter Obi? You don’t even know where my own laughter usually comes from…. I always ask myself, “see what they are saying when people like Uzodimma and Umahi had to conjure figures in their states for Tinubu, what would they have said had Obi’s votes truly counted which would have been like 99.9% of votes cast in the Southeast?” Those guys don’t know how we roll. aswani: Ndi Anioma (thanks for the correction of my phones auto-correction) are west of the Niger and are currently located in delta state in the South South. I believe they were also in the Mid Western region (then Bendel state) rather than the Eastern region. I am also very aware they are not considered "core Igbos" as a result, that is why I identified them separately.
I am only taking about Jimmy Agbaje, set aside GRV and 2023 for now.
Ndi Yoruba voted Peter Obi over President Tinubu in Lagos state, yet you are here talking about their tribalism.
Jimmy Agbaje shot his shot and failed. You cannot run a divisive campaign in Lagos state and win. There are too many Lagosians of different ancestry that will shut you down and they did.
Even President Tinubu that you people claim owns Lagos dare not do it never mind Jimmy Agbaje. You want to tell a Lagosian Ekiti girl that has knelt down to greet the mother of her Lagosian Igbusa friend that she has known from birth that she is evil, àbi.
Per the Awolowo thing which is an excellent point, the only reason Ndi Yoruba are doing so well now in National politics and have done since Abiola is they all learnt from Awo's mistakes. Something for Ndigbo politicians to think about as well avd learn from Peter Obi's mistakes. You can’t ask me to leave anything out. Your attitude during each election cycle needs to be considered holistically so that we can be able to extract the pattern that you all have always followed in each election cycle. Or maybe I shouldn’t be generalizing it for all Yorubas because I know that rubbish is usually carried out by a selected few coordinated in one WhatsApp group. And about your claim of ‘Yorubas doing well in national politics’, need I remind you that you the Awolowo bloc only succeeded in 2015 when they aligned with Buhari (something that might change in 2027 by the way). Before then, you have been in opposition since 1960. Unfortunately, now you finally have the chance, you are showing the rest of Nigerians that you lots have been the architects of tribalism in Nigeria with your tribalistic utterances and lopsided appointments. I hope that takes Tinubu far. |
Politics › Nearly 24hrs Later, Why Has Elrufai Not Refuted The Rumour Of Working With Obi? by Penguin2(op): 10:32am On Apr 07, 2024 |
The rumour of the likely coming together of Peter Obi and Nasir Elrufai under one ticket to contest the 2027 presidential election has been flying around since yesterday and, as expected, has caused apprehension in the camp of supporters of Aso Rock occupiers because they know such a ticket would be the dealbreaker.
Now, because of this apprehension, some people have constituted themselves into the mouthpiece and spokespersons of Elrufai. So, I was not surprised to read some rhetorics like, “Elrufai will never align with Obi”, “Elrufai is too big to be Vice to Obi”[/b], and other silly comments.
But we know the Elrufais - both the senior Elrufai and his sons. We know how erratic they can be. We know how quickly they respond to issues or anything that concerns them or their family. We saw it when Bello quickly fired back at Uba Sani after he accused his father of leaving Kaduna in debt.
But with this rumour they’ve been uncharacteristically quiet. Why? It’s nearly 24hrs that the rumor has been going on and neither the father nor the children has said a word.
Could it be that while self-appointed Elrufai spokespersons are online talking trash, that the man is truly seeking an alliance with Peter Obi having seen how far the Obi went in the last election that it took the shutting down of IREV to stop him? |

garfield1: There is nothing that will shift that phobia in the next four years sir.the north will never consider a Christian above a muslim. aligning with kwankwaso or El rufai is useless, didn't kwankwaso already mentioned this? If you add kwankwaso votes to El rufai last year,it still fell short so them pairing is a waste until obi flies a Muslim Muslim ticket or under apc Tinubu is in absolute control of the polity,I don't know where you are seeing your imaginary discontent.if the north wanted to deal with him, that was last year not now that he's in power.tinubu has everything under control.ofcourse you won't see this till it is too late as usual.obi will never rule Nigeria except maybe a strong Yoruba candidate emerges or he picks APC ticket.the calculations are very simple. I like the fact that you didn’t deny that Tinubu is banking on Igbophobia to win re-election which is why you lots are doing anything possible to fuel the phobia but una go fail las las. Meanwhile, why would the north have dealt with Tinubu in last election when he has always posed as ‘friend of the north’ especially since he supported Buhari to power? But now Tinubu has gotten into power and the north has seen that he simply has been pretending all this while just to get to power. The north feels used! They feel deceived with Muslim Muslim ticket. They’ve seen Tinubu’s lopsided appointments which has favoured mostly his Lagos boys. They’ve seen Tinubu’s policies which they have mostly considered anti-North. Like relocating some department of CBN and FAAN to Lagos and others. Nothing Tinubu has done since he was sworn shows he has the interest of the north at heart. Add the fact that his subsidy removal policy and the haphazard unification of exchange rate seems to have dealt the greatest blow to northern Talakawas which has reduced them to mass looters. And you they are happy with Tinubu? You don’t really rate the north. |

Jimmy Agbaje rán on a very divisive platform and shame on him.
Lagos is full of Ndi Everywhere, I myself know non Ńdi Yoruba like Tàpá, Benin, Itsekiri, Urhobo, Hausa, Afemai and Aniocha to name but a few people that are born and bred Lagosians. Why didn't Jimmy Agbaje go and talk to them like he did Ndigbo Lagosians?
Another one, like Obidients did for Peter Obi, who destroyed what could have been a decent political career on the altar of dirty tribalism. You would always come up with silly excuses for your tribalism, won’t you? But just a point of correction, Aniocha (I know you meant to say Anioma) is not different from Igbos. They are Igbos. Now that’s settled, nobody insulted the Yorubas nor their custom in 2023. You lots just played the kind of politics handed down by Awolowo which is tribalism and all of its corollary. GRV did not go out of his way seeking Igbo voters. He never made any anti-Yoruba comment. You people simply unearthed his previous tweets and attached meanings to them and used it for your agenda. If elections hold one million times, you people will use same template even if it’s an Imam that is the candidate standing against Tinubu’s candidate. You are simply helplessly drenched in it. |

garfield1: I mentioned it to by mistake.dont forget otti was in APC at some point .before otti joined lp,he was already popular in abia.this popularity was the reason why he won easily and couldn't be rigged out like mbah.. Orji is crying because he miscalculated like atiku his godfather.he sided the wrong camp.same as okorocha and onu.they all backed the north or should I say the buhari cabal instead of the tinubu camp.tinubu values loyalty, everybody that supported him are being rewarded unlike buhari that forgets his supporters.there is no se politician that has backed tinubu that hasn't been rewarded directly or indirectly.deouty speaker kalu is there because he sided tinubu, umahi is there because he sided tinubu.instead of ouk to step down for tinubu he backed lawan and said let the north have power.same thing rochas and onu did. Otti gained popularity as APGA guber candidate in 2015. He even won the election but got rigged out by Theodore Orji’s rigging machinery. Then he defected to APC before 2019 elections and you people didn’t think he was worth your ticket, did you? Before Onu, Okorocha, Umahi, etc, there was Jim Nwobodo, and co who aligned with anti-Igbo elements thinking that’s how they will get power. How did they end? And history keeps repeating itself because the anti-Igbo elements keep finding Igbo useful idiots who they will dangle same carrot they dangled for the idiots that came before them and they keep falling for it without learning from the idiots before them that it never ends well for them. As things currently stand, it seems Wike is equally eyeing the 2031 vice presidential slot of APC is Umahi is doing. Can Umahi outplay Wike? For the next four years, the South East will abuse and insult The South West, particularly the muslims, as part of the collective gnashing over teeth over a Peter Obi loss.

ogbonti: Elections do really have consequences -- 18 months ago - El Rufai will spit on anyone proposing that he be a vice to Obi in 2027 - now they see that even with OBI being rigged out from (Benue and Rivers and probably more states like Akwa Ibom, Lagos and others) that OBI has 6+ million votes out there and Obi's voters are not going anywhere- they will all still vote for him IF 2027 elections were held tomorrow UNLIKE the "ebin pawa" crew who are gnashing their teeth in regrets for voting bala blu, blu blu lu, bulaba"- yet his numbers were inflated by Mahmoud turning off the IREV
I like Datti Baba Ahmed - but he is not firebrand enough - He is almost like Obi; quiet and unassuming, and in politics - 2 running mates should have different personality traits to spice of the campaign. I would have preferred a Kwankwaso teeming up with Obi - BUT it seems he has "SOLD HIS SOUL TO THE DEVIL" payed off to go mute and that is not a person to be trusted!!! You have a great point. The Elrufai we know would have refuted the rumour of aligning with Obi as VP or one of his irritant children would have done it but they’ve been uncharacteristically quiet. This only means that there might be some iota of truth in the rumor. Like some people have said, Obi won the last election with Datti. So, there’s nothing wrong with Datti except that the northern establishment don’t trust Datti enough to represent the interest of the north enough in an Obi government.
