There was never a unification let alone a reunification. The bill for Anioma state has never had a sout east twist until a very ambitious politician thought that would make his gubernitorial ambitions materialise

Ned Nwoko would still be governor of of Anioma State whether it’s joined to Southeast or left in the Southsouth.

If he wanted, he could have just limited it to the creation of Anioma State without talking about its reunification with Southeast.

The community lamented that the promises made to them by past leaders were never fulfilled, leaving the community in a state of neglect and underdevelopment.

At the rally, the APC governorship candidate Okpebholo pledged to address their concerns and deliver on the infrastructure projects that have been long overdue in Igbanke.

Okpebholo assured the gathering that, if elected governor, he would prioritise the construction of roads and provide other essential services in the area, which have been ignored for far too long.

With Senator Ned Nwoko bringing the Anioma and Igbo discuss to the front burner again when he sponsored a Bill for the creation of Anioma State and for it to be joined to Southeast, a lot of people who don’t know where Anioma is on Nigeria’s map have become more Anioma than Anioma people and telling Anioma people to refuse such from happening.

Granted that there are native Anioma people who are opposed to the idea of joining Southeast region and be fully recognized as Igbos, but trust me when I say that they are just countable minority.

But for those opposed to the idea I want to ask, what do Anioma people stand to lose by joining Southeast?

Is it crude oil and gas resources? Southeast has that in abundance in Imo, Abia and Anambra.

Is it identity? Trust me, the rest of Nigeria, and even the world, sees Anioma people as Igbos. Everyone knows they are Igbos. The only people who don’t know that Aniomas are Igbos are the few Anioma people who swallowed and have believed the lies and propaganda that started to be propagated since after the Biafran War in 1970.

What else?

To an Anioma man I ask, will the West protect your interest in Nigeria more than your Igbo brother?

Or will the North be a better ally to you than the Igbos?

Or can you negotiate for what is due to you alone without allies?

How much can you achieve as a lone voice in Nigeria compared to when you move in solidarity of the entire Southeast region?

With a good president, our institutions will be strengthened.

He will make it impossible to add or subtract even one vote 🗳 from electoral contests.

Wives, children and relatives of politicians will stop getting appointed, with reckless abandon, into the judiciary. That arm of government will be cleansed with rigorous and stringent procedures of appointment as a judge that will only be passed by firebrand lawyers who know their mettle. Now, see how a flagrant disregard for rule of law by Ibukunle Amosun when he was Ogun Governor has brought the entire country an international embarrassment.

Governor Gbenga Daniel signed an agreement with a Chinese Firm before he left in 2011. When Amosun came in, instead of respecting the existing agreement, arbitrarily cancelled it.

The result of that foolish decision is the reason Nigeria is facing international embarrassment today.

But have you imagined if this was caused by a Southeast State; say Abia, Enugu or Anambra. You can only imagine what the people who like to hate Southeast would have said.

But since it’s Ogun, they have all lost their voices and covering their faces in shame.

Amosun must have thought he would get away with it like they do when they get INEC to write results.
