I consider it curious that the whole of europe Africa and far east asia are 'all at night' at the same time. Or could it be that allowance was made for time differences before an illustration was made? Anyhow i think its a fair representation of global electricity usage especially when NEPA is at its best in Nigeria. |
You see why white man is different. If it was a black man who made that promise and you remind him, he will tell you so what? |
harakiri:The best thing about dogs is that you cant sneak in on them. They will announce the arrival the of bad guys giving you enough time to play rambo. Oh I have a particular dog that has sth for the third leg. Not sure if it was what it learnt from its previous owner but I notice its massive head just keep goin in that direction while barking. I dont want it near me when its angry. |
styles2009:Well said bro. Shoot2kill I admire your interests / hobby. But in Nigeria it can only be wishful thinking. No one is giving you license for any hand gun or AK47 no matter how connected you are. You automatically become an outlaw upon possession. Gun ownership is good but its not enough. In addition raise and barb ur fence (include metal spikes so that folded blankets will be useless), then get urself a few killer dogs (make no secret of this). Most importantly organize and contribute to your neighborhood vigilante effort. Barricade that street (better if you live in a close). This is your first and most visible line of defence. These few things are basic if you must sleep well. All you need to worry about thereafter is the road and your work place. |
@OP, Between the two, I would say 505 is a much better option. Remember to add a complete set of spanners and screwdrivers as well. She will need them. Mind you she might end up spending more time with the mechanic than she will with you and the children. |
All these our northern brothers. Na waaah |
I don't know who your people are. OBJ systematically balanced the Nigerian Army in his 8years as President. The days when the Nigerian Army was an extension of Sokoto caliphate are gone.
I assumed you were a southerner. Of course if you are a northerner there are more polite ways of making this known even in an anonymous forum. It is expected that people will disagree on fora like these. Why not. We dont all have the same education, background, exposure, even age. Obj was and he still is a coward. His closest friends will tell you that. They will also tell you he has no scruple and that nothing he did or tried to do can be used as reference point for anything. |
That was 1967 - 69 Nigeria when the West thought on the advice of Britain that the ignorance and illiteracy of the North could exploited to enjoy the oil in the gulf of Guinea. Well times have changed. The same West would not want to see Islamic terrorist wannabe control another important source of oil to the World. Trust me their is no Northern Military might in Nigeria. Russia and UK simply gave support to where their interest lies and that was what won that war. Times have changed and Foreign Policy towards Nigeria is fast changing.
It is good to write and feel good abt these things. FYI, the Nig army has two lingua franca-english and hausa. The coup years of 1983-1998 witnessed a lot of transformation the NA where southerners were systematically ostracized. Our pple in the military are mere observers. The core Nigerian Military is in the hands of the hausa/fulanis. It will be suicidal to ignore this fact in any tactical-strategic calculation by the south |
Your line of thinking is the basis of this conflict. You talk about the wish of the North without talking about the wish of the South. There are UN modalities for country who want to break up. and the last time I checked the people of South also have a right to choose whether they want to continue in Nigeria or North. International concensus is beginning to shift on this issue. The Muslims have a choice, embrace a secular Nigeria or risk breakage and isolation.
The UN modalities is a piece of paper. Lives of intelligent southern officers (who knew more abt these modalities than you and I) have been wasted with impunity. The north took control of our economy through their military might which they still have. But things are beginning to unravel through deregulation. Fortunately we have the education, westernization, industry etc. With a strong economy we will be able to build a formidable military/arsenal.etc |
MrPrsdent:Let us work from within. Not without. We can still take our country back |
The whole idea of Nigeria splitting evenly along christian/Moslem line is what idle southern elites frequently dream of. There is nothing in the Nigerian state as it exists that makes this a remote possibility now or in the forseable future. To start with, the north has to be in agreement which means they will be prepared to give up access to the sea (and become landlocked). With the desert rapidly encroaching, that is mass suicide. Also of course they have to give up crude oil along with all the good things it brings. Since the northerners are not ready for self annihilation any time soon maybe the south should take the initiative and enforce a separation - I mean we being at the recieving end of these freq violence and all that. Read take the war to them. The problem is who is going to fight the war. The south is hopelessly fragmented. They cant even manage what many will consider a low intensity guerilla war fare in their backyard. The leaders are hopelessly greedy like Jim Nwobodo who openly addresses a national gathering in hausa (to the dismay and embarrassment of his kinsmen) just to curry favour with power brokers in the north. In short there is no leadership and no followership. The north on the other hand apart from the small matter of the Nigerian military they have firmly in their grip, they are reasonably united, they can raise an army of 1million men over night with a promise of food by morning. Meanwhile the Igbo man is worried abt his goods somewhere and the Yoruba man is in the cybercafe looking for potential mugu. The ijaw man will fight only if you make a down payment of 40k with a promise of loot sharing. |
sleek417:These ones are even easier. Send my driver to fill her tank and u can never do anything wrong. She wants to pay u back immediately to prove her loyalty which means you (b/f) aint getting laid for a while |
netotse:We recognize that pple like u are always there. When we come around you have to take the back door or hide in the closet. Sometimes we pretend not to know or pretend to be very angry when we know. It doesnt really matter. |
netotse:You dont know if it was the fiancee who killed her lover. Any way my game is my ride. And its a very big game. You can spend the whole of your life toasting but when I come all I have to do is horn |
I prefer my egg fried. Unfortunately, not a lot of pple know how to fry egg correctly. |
Great relationships, even marriages have resulted from kind hearted gentlemen giving girls lift. You never know. So why the hell not? But If you dont have a car, stay away till you can afford one. Responsible girls usually dont like to be disturbed by street walkers. |
marvix:I can assure you and believe me when I say I am calm. This is internet conversation, there is no money involved. Now tell me do you think the interest of the ND will be better served if Jonathan is president preferring not to ruffle feathers and maintaining 13% derivation or someone else is president but with the ND getting derivation in excess of 50% as it was in the first republic% |
marvix:ND president post Jonathan will only inflame passions in the north. Besides who among the lot can bring abt changes when structures remain the same. Changed structure to reflect a true federation and accountable Governors is what the ND needs hardly who is president. This in summary is what Mend is saying. No more no less. |
. . . . . . . |
oyb:So what is ur point exactly |
^^ that's probably true as per new or old convert but i think i may have been confusing you with someone else maybe. no need to give yourself airs and feel funky because you thought you were all that
Actually pennywise is all that. You want to keep towing this line or you want us to stay on topic |
Beaf:It doesnt matter if America classifies Mend a terrorist organization. They have been wrong abt a lot of things in the past. It wont be the first time. |
i've ceased to be amazed at the way supposedly sane nairalanders can do an about face and post something that makes them look like the whack side of flavor flav. no be today i've seen pennywise' type. i thought you tend to have sensible thought processes but its easy to fake anything on the web, actually. either that or ganja got another convert.
U right. Ganja got a new convert |
Beaf:Its a road beside govt house. I imagine that Uduaghan failed to heed warning b/c his boys most have told him "Nothing dey happen!" |
oyb:U have not seen this mend b/4. Those were the soldiers of fortune and pollutants who fortunately have cashed-out |
I truly sympathize with Mend. Too much frustration for this body already. Just no way you can get this crop of politicians to listen without taking lives (Mend has clearly shown through their warning they abhor loss of innocent lives). Chances are that this will be swept under the carpet and forgotten since no life was lost. My advise to Mend? Raise the stake a little. Target your anger. We know those who because of lucre are standing in the way of genuine dialogue. |
Yeah. And 'Justice' Marcel Awokulehin should be charged along with him (as an accessory after the fact-or sth like that). |
If we have a true commander in chief, Maina along with Iwu would have been sacked by now |
sonya4all:This is one plausible angle considering that the guys were young recently graduated (post will suggest). Most of these killings are actually done by student cultists. There are however a few known notorious characters with their boys around town. They are generally available for hire in Land and business disputes. But the situation is nothing compared to Benin of the 80s where every neighborhood had gangs with toughies. The lucky ones are now reformed fathers or are doing time in American and European jails. The unlucky ones well, they went the way of the Aninis. |
Killing by hired assassins is actually quite routine in Benin. This particular one made it to the media for understandable reasons-the personalities involved.I have no doubt in my mind that since then there have been other assassinations or violent robberies resulting in death. Even when perpetrators are caught and taken to zone 5, all it takes is a few weeks for the matter to die down and a 200k fine (standard rate). But Chances are that they will never be caught. Benin is a large, rapidly growing town. Unlike most other cities in the south you can cruise around that town for 2hrs without encountering a police check point which is one reason kidnapping thrives in that town while they are on the retreat in other places. The question is what is Oshiomhole doing with his huge security vote. I hear he has a good taste for women and the children of this comrade are living lavishly abroad (hardly my business). For any one living or passing through Benin that is generally considered comfortable Benin presents a special vulnerability. Most if not all successful bizmen from that town have exiled themselves in the past year or so. There will be more demonstrations to govt house of the kind that followed the killing of these actors and we expect to get exactly the same result- resounding silence. |
This army PRO has obviously been reading a lot of press releases by political image makers. It doesnt address issues at stake, its undisciplined and outright rude and embellished with a whole lot of cant. Chris Olukayode is a disgrace to the army. He should be reassigned to other duties far from the press. Hopefully we will hear sth reasonable soon from the army |
In Nigeria, most average (sometimes < average) peeps pull two cars with contrasting traits. How do you reconcile this? |
