madridguy:Let the government implement the report f 2014 confab for a start. Billions of naira was spent on it and all the regions and civil organisations in the country were involved in the excercise. It is crass arrogance and unbridled pride to rubbish and sweep the report under the carpet by a minority. The report, restructuring, regionalism or con-federation or this country will never know peace. Righteousness exalts a nation. Dishonesty has been and continues to be used to govern Nigeria which is why it can know no peace or progress. The census figure is a fraud. How can sane people use inaccurate statistics to plan and expect success ? Nigeria's life-span ended in december 2014 which calls for re-negotiation where there is honesty but no one is talking about that. Governing is not for bosses but for leaders. Nigeria has suffered the unfortunate rule of Bosses rather than Leaders since 1976 to date and thats why they will never get it. For the avoidance of doubt, i am a bona fide Ooduan and have no pleasure in a fraudulent Nigeria. Nigeria has become a depraved society where nothing, i mean nothing, works. Between July 1976 and now, enough money has been stolen by a syndicate of the military, politicians and civil servants to make Nigeria three times better than Dubai. In 1976, Dubai was virtually a desert land. While Dubai is governed by humans, Nigeria has been in the firm grip of animals in human clothing. The other day, i saw pictures of certain locations of Lagos Island of just the 70s and i wept with nostalgia. I remembered them all, still have them in my memory, including the LMTS ( Lagos Municipal Transport Service) bus. I wept for this country. The eye-sores that we call mega cities today are nothing compared to the neatness and orderliness of those days as recorded in those pictures. Every society strives for improvement but not so Nigeria except in everything sordid. I want Oodua republic. Nigeria union has been a curse for the naturally-endowed rather than blessing. Call me what you will, am entitled to my freedom of expression. |
EasternLeopard:Whats the correlation between "the regions that feed the nation" and "5%" ? |
What is "hot" protest for Gods' sake ? We have a way of making mockery of things in Nigeria. Are we speaking english or slang or pidgin ? . |
ak47mann:You are suffering from self-delusion. Is Onitsha and Beijin the only cities in the world "littered" with factories ? Do you even have more factories in Onitsha than Lagos ? Accept the accurate verdict and stop cock-eyed statements that won't jell. |
Karanka:Professor, teach thyself and don't turn WHO's award upside-down. The assessement was based on objectivity and not sentimentalism and tribalism a la nigeria. Three SE cities are in the top 10 in the world and one of them tops the list. Keep your fraudulent idea to yourself and be silent. We can read better than you think. |
saintneo:Meme chose ici, je parle un petit peu francais. Mais tu essayes que moi. Je vous en prie. |
See how corruption brought together an unholy alliance of strange bedfellows - Shiite, the nightmare of Ibos in the north plus the rejected "i-beg-to-apply" jews of Nigeria crying for the release of their respective leaders. If only the FG can lock Zakzaki and Kanu up in the same cell. The outcome would make interesting news. |
saintneo:Est tu sur ? |
juman:Point of correction- he didn't do it. He was fooled and cajoled into submission. |
Nigeria And The Elusive Nationhood. Countries are made up of units of communities, towns, cities, etc of different ethnic stocks and tribes of peoples. At the global level, the world is a conglomerate of nation-states. In each nation-state, tribes and ethnic stocks form a subset of the nation. In other words, while nations are made up of countries, countries cannot consist of nations with relative peace. Although since relativity is always a factor in human dynamics, there may be exceptions to this rule. A cursory look at some events in history will open our minds to the truth of the aforementioned analysis. Former USSR and Yugoslavia. These two entities were a perfect examples of countries of nations forcefully held together by one factor or the other. And these were made up of largely civilized, enlightened and sophisticated peoples, so to say. But because nations forced together within a country are like a pent-up fury in a person or air bottled up in a tube, a little provocation of the person or a puncture of the tube, the fury is vented with spleen on the provocator like air bursting out of the tube with gust. The re-enactment of these two factors in the countries in reference led to the inevitable disintegration of them into their natural several nations. Britain, a highly civilized and enlightened society is made up of four nations of England (the English), Scotland (the Scots or Scotish), Wales (the Welsh) and Ireland (the Irish). They have lived together as one people for decades but what most people may not have observed or known is that there had always been some little amount of racial schism under the surface. You have to get assimilated into the society to observe this. But inspite of their enlightenment and length of unionhood, Scotland attempted a peaceful breakaway in a referendum of recent. Even the failed attempt does not guarantee a continued unionship for ever. So, coming nearer home, Nigeria and nigerians do not possess what it takes to make a nation of nations. What with tribal and religious bigottry and a disparate levels of emancipation, civilisation and enlightenment. Yakubu Gowon and those around him then realised this truth when he proclaimed that "the basis for Nigeria's unity did not exist". But unfortunately, he failed to do the needful. The factors they discovered as militating against Nigeria's unity at that time have since been agravated and multiplied. The earlier the nations that were forced into a marriage of inconvenience as represented in Nigeria are allowed to go their separate ways the better for all. Some people, out of sheer ignorance use USA as an example of a nation that Nigeria could become. But they fail to understand the simple fact that America is made up of immigrants. The only tribe that could lay claim to ownership of the nation are the Appalashians or the Red Indians but who are so infinitestimally small in number and primitive to exert any effort towards such goal. Matter of fact, the landing of Christopher Columbus and his group followed by the influx of migrants from different races of the world turned out to be a blessing rather than a curse to the natives, freedom rather than bondage, enlightenment instead of primitiveness. No country in the world with such conglomerate of peoples of several races, can be a true nation like America. Even then, you still have rumblings of separatist schism - Texas as a case in point. Whether we like to admit it or not, the different levels of civilization, ingrained tribal tendencies and irreconciliable religious dogma plus visionary differences inherent in Nigeria will forever stand in the way of nationhood. Three distinct nations in the south of the country have active or dormant self- determination groups waiting for a catalyst to spring into action while the deluded leaders of different ethnic groups who are only united by greed and corruption occasioned by the free flow of oil money pretend all is well. To prevent an inevitable bloodshed, a recourse to regionalism or an experimental con-federation for 50 years should have been considered. One finds it funny that Nigeria, as a legal entity, ceased to exist in 2014, yet, there is a treacherous silence rather than a cacophony of incesant calls for a national conference of sort to re-negotiate the union or agree to divide peacefully. My humble opinion though, as i do not arrogate absolute knowledge of the discourse to my person. |

BushidoBlue:I can't see the correlation between recounting an undeniable cannibalism of a section of a tribe and the agitation for seccession. Always endeavour to dwell on the topic of discussion. Yes, am all for biafra if that will make you happy. |
Naija9090:Ibos' brains have been so rewired to see anything and everything anti-Ibo as Yoruba. Same way black South Africans saw the white people in all their problems. Years after the whitemen left them be, they remained so backward they can't even see the whiteman's tail-light. In order words, the inferior is naturally programmed to believe that their problems emanate from their superiors. Better pray to your chineke abiamah to give you 21st century wisdom. |
Naija9090:What about the weeping governor of Enugu ? Enugu's governor not a nigerian "jew" ? |
Naija9090:Enugu's governor not a nigerian "jew" ? |
Ambo has quite righly arrived with the typical Oodua pedigree. More greese and Gods' wisdom and guidance. |
asha90:But not according to those world bodies who knew better than you. This is not a decision or question for myopic, archaic people. This is not like the 'award' of SAN a la Nigeria. |
All those shouting Wole Soyinka should go for a medical check up
Including those who considered him a better writter than Achebe and awarded him the Nobel Laurette for his workers i guess ? Remember the decisioner makers were not stewed in tribal, sentimental, petty and chickish cloak like you. In answer to the Op's question, the international decision-makers on global writters spoke in awarding the laurette to Wole Soyinka. As far as am concerned, "The Famished Road" by Ben Okri puts him way above Achebe. |
Sweetcollins:Outright rubbish ! |
Dino is a good example of nigeria's wastage that goes by the name of a national assembly. Daylight robbery of the people and displaying the flamboyance to rob insult upon injury. Nigeria is a big Fraud. |
johnmartus:You can say that again. |
And so said the Word of God too. Thanks to the learned and inspired justices of that court. |
Flexherbal:Where is the sales outlet for your tea ? |
vizkiz:..."He who is without sin amongst you, let him first cast the stone at her. . ." |
From the horse's mouth. Over to you, the most successful "business men" in nigeria. |
None and all of the above. |
1Tkester:3 sound gbosas to DT. The guy is the phenomenon of this election year. Plus he has this streek of winning against all odds. What with #NeverTrump and the pety Mitt Romney's #StopTrumpatallodds, he triumphed handsomely. God has that man in plan for something big, mehn. |
bigboss80s:You are in for a rude shock for that is the next president of the US of A. |
Marley01:But they empower their children and minions to take over after them ? |
Knowledge9000:Yes, you are right. He looks well fed having been served with delicious amala and gbegiri soup. I trust the zoo prison chefs. |
