The first time i lived in a compound with 10 apartments. Mine was apartment 9. They got into 1-7 and left. My GSD stood firm in front on my entrance. They didn't cross over. Next time was when a security guard from a neighbours compound jumped into ours as he had escaped from being tied up by the robbers. Jumping into our compound was his best option. My GSD gave the warning bark. My eyes opened and i knew there's an intruder in the compound. Only that this time it was a friendly intruder as he shouted his name and why he jumped into the compound. My then GSD was loved by everyone as he and the security guard patrol the compound at night.

We may have a bias for GSD but if you asked us to have a say ill advise a combo of two dogs a GSD and another maybe rott or boerbel. Yes the GSD have a penchant for alerting with time you'd get the experience to know there's a problem with just one bark. On the only two occasions I've ever experienced intruders into my space. I woke up from sleep with the bark and i new immediately there was a stranger in the compound that night. I was right.

September last year, robbers came to my house.
I live in Rumuigbo, Port Harcourt.

They entered my house with my daughter and wife and sister in law in the house.

By God's grace, I was able to fight back (they were just 2 of them, one with a gun and the other a knife) and chased them out of he house. In the process, while fighting with the one with the gun, the second personpicked some phones and they both escaped. The gun didn't shoot despite several attempts by the robber to shoot,. He was confident it will so he didn't run initially until it failed repeatedly.

These people picked my locks, entered the house quietly. I only realised their presence when they woke me up.

I won't even wish my enemy this experience. Till yesterday night my wife hasn't overcome the trauma. I kept telling myself that if I had a dog, not necessarily to protect, there's no way someone will jump into the compound, walk around, pick lock, enter the house .......I would have been alerted by the dogs barks.
You will not understand how it feels to be woken up by robbers.i don't think I'll ever forget it for the rest of my life.

I decided I MUST GET A DOG

I put a post on nairaland to ask a couple of questions about getting a dog. I have contacted numerous dog sellers and kennels. In fact I've almost been scammed numerous times. Most people have dogs crossed and bred with local dogs with headings like "full breed ....." with exorbitant amounts.

I don't have the funds to get a full breed dog. I thought of importing from europuppy. The cost is beyond what I can afford in one payment.

I don't want a dog mixed with a local free range dog
I've lived with them in the past. I don't want that.

I WANT A BEAST. I WANT A DEADLY BEAST. so when working overtime and nights at work my wife doesn't have to call me every hour that she heard a sound outside the house.

I don't want a dog that will run for it's own life when shit hits the fan.

After months of research, I've settled for a Caucasian, Rottweiler, Presa Canario, Cane Corso or ...Boerboel.
Not really a fan of boerboel though. I need something scary that scares people just from it's looks alone.

Is there anybody open to receiving monthly payments until I complete payment for a FULL BREED WICKED BEAST OF A DOG?

It should just scare people with Its looks... that's all.

Ps: I can't move out. The neighbourhood isn't exactly dangerous and also it's my family compound where I don't have to pay rent so... moving out isn't an option. This is the first robbery in more than 15 years. But the economy so .....

I work in a reputable and recognised organisation so ...I'm actually credit worthy but shelling out bulk cash at once for a FULL BREED isn't easy for me.

Any person open to this? Please help�

We feel you. We just wish to add that as you get a dog you may add a budget for training if you end up with a good physical package in terms of a deterent look and right temperament. A well trained dog that will know how to react to such situations is a plus.

Finally, you may consider two dogs. Two dogs in combination on a security patrol are a beauty to watch in collaboration.

PS: If we had your spec in terms of breed and expected temperament we would have gladly considered your staggered payment proposal. Wish you and your family all the best.

Oga you are still missing the point. Your caption for the post was wrong and misleading. The pups you posted are not long coats irrespective you sold them all or not. You are misleading buyers and for sure their expectation of the pup they bought to become long coats will not materialise. Having one of the parents as a long coat does not confer the pups as such. Hoping you've learnt something new today for the future. Peace.

2 mins before posting this tread I sold all females least hairiest (retained 1) .. the 2 males are the one with long coat with in a total of 7 pups.

but whenever you want to criticize, next time maybe you come with a proof which is a picture of a 6 weeks old long coat GSD not a random picture from Google, which the photographer have premeditated of an adult GSD

I just took a random picture to advertise. thus you might not be seeing it all, people who saw it all already bought it.

Again you already said the dam is a cross bred 'hairy' meaning pups may not necessarily be long coat.

Oga you just mentioned you are not a breeder so ill excuse you. The fact that one parent or even in some cases both parents are long coats does not automatically confer long coat status on pups. The long coat gene is a recessive one. It must be concentrated in the breed line to ensure perpetuation. However there are signs you'll see at puppy stage to give you a hint. The pups you presented and your representation do not match. A caption that they come from long coat parent(s) would have sufficed.

If at all any of them is a long coat maybe and i repeat maybe only one. That with the tuft of hair behind its ears. Then on showing what we have as long coat there's really no need. Just believe we have some really good long coats. Secondly you may note that we do only and strictly long coat GSDs so we do have a very good idea of what we are talking about.

If she has concluded whelping it not abnormal to have a singleton. Various explanations can be given. Maybe only one egg was successfully fertilised or more than one egg was fertilised and were re absorbed during pregnancy or the mating took place towards the end of her fertile window meaning only one egg was available to be fertilised or the male one good sperm from the stud semen made it to one egg out of others that were waiting in the female....etc

We don't normally do this. But we hereby recommend the breeder and brand JADO. Totally legit.

Did you notice any discharge?

Groaning is certainly a sign of distress and pain. She needs to see a vet most certainly. One with good experience in canine reproductive issues. We suspect an infection but not sure.

In all my 18 years of having dogs none has been able to give me puppies . Probably faults from me ..

They and their mother are doing well .

Congratuations.

For starters we see the puppies are on a bare tile floor. At this age they can not regulate their temperature. That floor is too cold for them. Add some padding like clean dry cardboard over the tiles. Keep that whelping area lit at night so dam doesn't crush them by stumping or lying on them and if possible a safe heating device to keep space warm.

You have fulfilled criteria number one. You love dogs. Other questions we may ask are;

1. Do you have a particular breed in mind or that you love specifically because of various reasons. Maybe temperament, your space availability, your lifestyle etc. These determine what maybe suitable for you.
2. Do you have someone who could be a mentor to you. It's not compulsory but it'll do you a lot good than bad.
3. What kind of capital do you have at your disposal. This may determine the quality of starting stock you can get. It'll cost you virtually same thing to feed and vet care a poor quality dog and a high end premium one. However the revenue or sales figures differ by a wide margin.
4. Do you have time to invest in care, building relationships, networking, organising and putting out content on the various channels you create. Time to do some basic book keeping etc
5. Do you have time to learn about dogs in general and in particular the particular breed(s) you settle for.

These are initial questions you need to ask and answer. We will be glad to help you through the process.
