EddyNumerouno:There are various schools of thought on back to back breeding or not. Though medical science puts forward a claim that its best to breed back to back, careful consideration of individual dog's full recovery from last whelping comes into the equation. Also you know heat cycles vary from twice a year to once a year for some so it's not cast in stone. |

It is very possible to see same cup of water as half empty or half full. It's all a question of perspective, context and view based on facts or not. One of our dogs landed at a Nigerian airport at 2700 euros. Please do the convertion. Let's not mention clearing cost. We could have sat back and think only of challenges/risks but we also see opportunities for like minded individuals to tap into. So we expect that its not everyone that has the same risk appetite. We are all good. |

Just to confirm also that we have been receiving filled forms and our vetting has commenced. We would communicate to all persons that made submissions if they qualify for future considerations or not. Those that qualify will receive the draft contract for vetting and if document is agreeable will be informed on planned litters and can choose from which litter they wish to obtain the female pup. They will also have the privilege of choosing from a list of available names for the pup. Puppy goes to franchisee at 10 - 12 weeks to ensure worming and vaccinations are done. We would note here that by filling the form in the link it is just a sign or show of expression of interest in this course. PeraGSD may ask more questions when they get in touch as we conduct our due diligence which will culminate in sending a draft contract document for vetting , consideration and probable execution. As mentioned in one of the posts earlier we may request a commitment or sign on fee which will only be required when subscriber has been successfully vetted , agreed to terms /conditions and puppy availability for dispatch. GRACEGLORY:1. As you must be aware the cost of adopting a German Showline long coat pup from pedigree parents is minimum 200k. This is eliminated totally save maybe a commitment or sign on fee which key not be more than 15℅ of cost of buying one out right. 2. One way to motivate adopter is that he or she knows the puppy will eventually be owned without any further obligations to PeraGSD after 3...4 successful litters. Hence more care in return. Setting up link so interested persons can fill out a form online so they can be vetted. I guess a basic requirement is that you love dogs especially the GSD breed and you do have some basics in terms of knowledge, space, ability to care for dog, access to vet care as needed and then oh yes good references. |

So we have an idea. We would give out a female long coat GSD (German Showline) puppy bred of imported pedigree parents of excellent blood lines and you would care for her till maturity to breed. We would provide one of our excellent imported pedigree males to stud. Litter will be shared evenly and in the case of odd number of puppies say 3..5..7 PeraGSD will take the higher number. In the case of a lone puppy carer keeps. Other conditions include carer accepts liability for loss of puppy through death or any other means at a graduated price based on age at time of loss incident. Regular updating of of life of the dog must be provided for posting on our website SM handles and blogs etc. Breeding will also be under the PeraGSD franchise until the third generation of litters when you may now own dog and breed under your name. Other conditions will be sorted out in valid agreement/ contract. The benefits include an opportunity to start off your breeding carrier with excellent stock from pedigree champion lines. You get to share and drink from the cup of experience of other team members leveraging on the network capital they provide country wide. Puppy is given free of charge from onset. So no huge initial cost apart from maintenance and feeding ongoing cost. Stud assuredly will be provided for the program by PeraGSD... No matter your location in Nigeria. Other benefits accrue. Other information is needed What's the line...show or work line What's the coat colour...black/tan, black/red, black, White, sable What's the coat type...long short/stock, plush What's the bloodline or pedigree...any championship or exceptional names in lineage Any health testing certifications...hips elbows etc Availability of the above info can help to give possible price ranges. Of course some breeders can insist on their pricing too. |

So more on questions to ask when trying to buy a GSD. Let us look at situation where seller is not in your vicinity or claims he is in another city or even country. 1. Look for trusted friend or another breeder in that location to go check what is claimed. Puppies, parents if he claims he has them, papers to authenticate vaccinations and worming regime. Then especially for showlines check gait of parents for knock knees, dancing hips or other genetic deformities common with this particular line which can be passed on to offspring. 2. If you have no one to help you check it out then you have to depend on shots and videos. Ensure you make a video call where seller is with pups and parents. Let him walk with them not just prerecorded video but alive one. If he's too impatient to show you all you ask for let the deal go. 3, Get unto dog WhatsApp groups and forums and ask other breeders in that location if he's known to them and probable history. 4. Ask if he is direct owner or reseller. Resellers can claim heaven on earth and deliver substitute. Some resellers are also top notch and really reliable. However clarify his status. 5. On the issue of payment terms it can be quite tricky if breeder is unknown. The more and credible reference you have have the lower the risk of payment before zero delivery so 'shine your eye' 6. Let a trusted breeder guide you. Breeders know themselves and can tell you what seller is hiding. Lets feel free to add to these points so we can all learn. |

Questions to ask the breeder or seller Always ask first about parents when its not pedigree or unregistered. This is the tricky part. Some breeders can get you twisted if they know you don't b know what you are looking for. We remember when were trying to assist a young dog lover to purchase a GSD from a breeder. The question was asked is she long coat? Breeder answered...."she's very hairy" meanwhile dog was a stock coat with no long coat in its pedigree. So always ask about parents. Go to great lengths to verify claims. Some breeders forge papers to claim parents are pedigree. If need be engage an experienced GSD person to help you verify claims. Why is it that you start asking questions about parents first. Its because you can't get puppies that'll be so much better than the parents. They usually end up as a mix of both or one is more pronounced than the other. The coat, mask, size, structure or line will be what puppy will grow into. Mind you all puppies are adorable Until 4 to 6 months later and it all begins to show. |

So we have come across many people, breeders and others putting out puppies (GSD specifically) and persons who intend to buy one. So what questions should you be asking. Let's go with the questions the buyer should ask h/er self. - Am i sure its a GSD i want or need - What is my budget - Do i want the dog for.. breeding, security need or just simply a dog lover - Do i have the means to feed, pay vet bills, space and lifestyle that is compatible to a GSD as they need run around space, medium to large breed and can become destructive if not engaged. - What line do i want.....show or work line. What color....Black and tan, black and red, white or black. What coat do i want...long, short, stock or fluffy. Mask....full black mask when dealing with Black and tan or red. - Male or female and why |

@Poster if its a Long Coat German Shepherd (German Showline), our specialty, you seek you should budget around 2500 - 3500 euros roughly N1.2M to N2M as it depends on breeder and bloodlines. Also shipping is costly taking almost 1100 euros of that cost. This range is for dogs from Europe...Eastern Europe to be precise. You'd get cheaper options from South Africa though for about N35000k - N600k inclusive of shipping. Again breeder and bloodlines matter. Then you'd be surprised that there are a couple of good breeders in Egypt too but their pricing is very close to European total prices...that is including shipping. We hope this helps. PS: We must add 1. There are some fantastic breeders in Nigeria too. Oluomoadebayo is one them greats especially for Belgian Malinois breed. Then there some fantastic breeders in Ghana too. 2. Be careful when importing. There are scammers out there too trying to leave you with the short end of the stick. Even in Europe. Try go through someone that has done it before and knows trusted names and breeders out there.Below is one of our newest European imports
