HealthRe: Bauchi Governor Goes Into Self-isolation After Contact With Atiku’s Son by PerseDew(f): 2:02pm On Mar 23, 2020
One does not even have to come in contact with an infected person. The virus can be gotten from infected surfaces.

"Scientists discovered the virus is detectable for up to three hours in aerosols, up to four hours on copper, up to 24 hours on cardboard and up to two to three days on plastic and stainless steel".

undecided self isolation issa bae...but i doubt 90% of nigerians with the virus would rather expose themselves to the public than go into self-isolation.. That's what makes oyinbo to be more human than an average african..
Give yourself prestige as an african. Is Dr Ameyo Adadevoh the woman credited to stopping a wider spread of the Ebola virus not Nigerian? The people that have been credited to spreading this virus recently are they not average oyinbos that refused to self isolate as a rule (even when you don't have symptoms) and continued with their travel/holiday/eveyday plans even despite having symptoms? You know this but still decided to berate your race...reorientate yourself and have some dignity.

HealthRe: Coronavirus: Increase Prices Of Face Mask, Sanitizer and Go To Jail – FG (pics) by PerseDew(f):
Hand sanitizer is 60% alcohol and 40% washing gel. There is no need to even bother buying. Just DIY. Face masks especially those surgical ones are for those that have it or suspected to have it to prevent possible spread of the virus when they cough or sneeze. If you don't have it you may be putting yourself in danger by wearing it because the virus could attach itself the surface that partially covers nose and mouth and when you don't take it off properly, you touch the virus. The ones that may even be effective(N95) needs training to be worn correctly.

Maintaining high hygiene by washing hands and bathing after self is better. Hand sanitizer should be the last resort when soap is not available to wash hands.

Modified

Also do the necessary by avoiding crowds and maintain a distance a far distance from anyone coughing or sneezing. Reduce or avoid too much refined sugar cos it destroys white blood cells necessary for fighting pathogens, exercise, eat garlic, onion, ginger, tumeric and black pepper, fruits and vegetables and stay hydrated to boost your immune system.

You should also research and ask a doc before taking tumeric and ginger. Both lowers the blood pressure and tumeric lowers blood sugar.
HealthRe: Alopecia Areata: My Head Is Being Filled With Bald Patches, Help! by PerseDew(f):
Change your diet to something that has more greens. You could easily blend 2 cups of greens and 1 banana to sweeten it. Blend 1 medium sized onion and 2 garlic cloves with half glass of water or less. Sieve it and add the onion and garlic to your stew. Pour some of the drained liquid on your scalp and do a scalp massage for 3 to 5 mins, wait for 30 mins and wash off with a shampoo e.g VO5 or Hair Fruits. The shampoo will reduce the smell of onions drastically or completely. Make a fresh batch each week. Do this for at least 6 -12 months to see results.

The sulphur in onion and garlic have been known to help prevent hair loss, aid hair regrowth in bald spots and improve overall hair and scalp health.

Because they were white kids, nobody here could insult them or say bad thing

But if they were from Nigeria......
Something of this nature was what I was trying to explain yesterday. If they were Nigerians, the derogatory words that will be used for the girl and Nigerian girls will let you know that self hate exists among Nigerians. Always insulting and throwing around the word "prostitute" at the slightest chance.

Someone still found a way to insult single mothers in Nigeria because the girl is monetizing her situation. Are there not working/schooling single mothers in this country with even a business or two? We need serious reorientation in this country.

Nigeria is number what in top what scammer list?
Nigeria is no further down than number THREE. The only countries that can top us is China and India due to their sheer population. Oh yes and I forgot Russia. Make that four. Best case scenario!

Funny. Sort of makes it seem like someone else is the "society" you're referring to, not Nigerians. Lol
It was quite clear I was referring to Nigerians.

Even if Nigeria is at worst no 4, the population excuse you are giving for China and India does not cancel the fact that more scammers exist there than here or then ours too is by population. Still they are not stereotyped as scammers.

But why is it only Nigeria with these stereotypes? Why aren't other African countries perceived the same way?

They also have poverty and societal stuff though.
I think our societal pressure is much stronger than theirs. I also think other african countries don't have this get rich quick mentality like we do.

Then we have a very large population of people abroad. When we do good or bad, we affect the statistics so much it looks like it is just Nigerians when compared to other africans nations of smaller populations abroad. I may be wrong but that is what I think.

The stereotype is confusing to me especially on fraud or scam. Nigeria is perhaps no 15 in top 20 scammer countries. Why are citizens from other countries on the list also not stereotyped as scammers or fraudsters?

I was about to say this is a very intelligent comment although heavily tainted with the usual "What of you nko" Nigerian-style defensiveness when faced with an undeniable proof of shortcoming.
But for your first paragraph to say that means you read the whole post with a defensive and biased mindset.

Again "What of you nko" is the theme of this paragraph. No self reflection, no objectiveness, just subjective defence; "Them nor dey do am too?"
I understand but don't see it as a form of defence. I felt your post sounded like the usual cliche of Nigerian girls are prostitutes (sometimes linked to another phrase common on nairaland "foreign women are better" ) and Nigerians are usually linked to fraud. I only tried to let you see that it is mostly due to poverty and the society that culturally likes to do things flamboyantly which requires money even in the midst of poverty. With the "how the world is looking at us", I felt it was not needed, these issues exist there too but ours has more emphasis.

I accept there was no take on how to make it better in my post, this is it below;

Yes Nigerians don't tell themselves the truth and the youths need to change their orientation about life to enable them face their leaders. So, I think it would be better to see threads or talks or even memes in our social space concentrate on life, it's essence, how ephemeral it is, how we can go through life actually living it and making contact with people without having the urge to go out of budget to impress, learning to believe in ourselves and concentrate our energy on our talent/strengths or just to develop ourselves and lead or take our various positions wherever seriously. Just things that are just able to give a sound perspective to life, could help drive Nigerians to create a better society, change a person(s) to not see prostitution or fraud as a way out.

Then we have a country of youths willing to question our leaders(the problem is our leaders have a different mindset. Just questions could lead to another thing) and if given the opportunity, the youths will be commited to developing the country for people to have access to the at least to the basics to live a decent life.

RomanceRe: Why Do Nigerians Hate Telling Themselves The Bitter Truth? by PerseDew(f):
The point you are trying to make is that most Nigerian girls are prostitutes and that most in the US are into fraud right and that comment from Aljazeera about the lady mechanic was probably shameful right?

First, if a woman is a mechanic, I will only be suprised that she did not go for tailoring, catering, cooking and selling, or hair/wig making and not that she is not a prostitute!

The thing about prostitution depends a lot on perception. There are ladies in developed economies don't mind casual sex, sex with different partners or without marriage but then the Nigerian girls that would rather do it for money as a result of poverty or the subconcious pressure to show off due to her society that taught her that the quick rich lifestyle in an improvished economy is the goal, is reported as a prostitute and tagged as bad.

Also, it matters a lot who has the power to tell a story to millions of people. There are also teenage brides abroad, there are students tgere that have turned to prostitutes and gigolos to pay their uni fees or just as a means of living , young and old, men and women travel to Thailand, Cyrus, Namibia etc just for sex but then such things are not reported on steady to create the same impression like "Nigerians protitutes or Nigerian fraudsters" and such nasty remarks like that from Aljazeera will not not made if the reverse was the case. Plus we have a large population, when we do bad or good things it is easy for the distribution in the data to be skewed towards Nigerians.

Finally, this phrase "in the eyes of the world", which world abeg? The one where they have citizens into all what I stated in my previous paragraphs and more that is out there? The earlier you tell yourself that shit exists everywhere but in different forms the better for you.

This makes zero sense.

The official language in Nigeria is English. Not Igbo, not Yoruba and not Hausa. That is a fact.

Your Germany example is absolutely hilarious. Guess what the official language in Germany is?
The German(Hochdeutsch) which is the official language in Germany has it's foundation in Martin Luther's translation of the bible into a German vernacular version such that the people of different areas and various dialects of today's Germany could read the bible. He critized the use of Latin because then only the educated would read the bible.

A good number of these dialects that existed then still exist today and no one penalises students when they speak it among themselves. Note that these dialects can differ to extent that another German not exposed to it will have difficulties understanding what is being said.
EducationRe: Anambra To Punish Teachers Flogging Pupils For Speaking Igbo by PerseDew(f):

I am strongly against pidgin being spoken in school, or anything different from the language that is taught. Like it or not, Nigeria is a multicultural entity, and as such we need a unifying lingua franca to better understand one another. Hence English. It annoys me when I see people speaking the English poorly. middle class citizens mind you, not necessarily the poor. Pidgin or vernacular is a poor man's language, and the sooner we stop representing that in all our media the better. Improving our mother tongue is also commendable. nothing wrong in that. In a class room setting where English is the language that is being taught, any other language should not be tolerated.
What do you have to say about these countries with 3 or more official languages;
1. Singapore: Chinese, English, Malay and Tamil.
2. Switzerland: English, German, Italian and Romansh.
3. Belgium: Dutch, French and German.
4. Bosnia and Herzogovina: Bosnian, Croatian and Serbian.
5. South Africa: Afrikaans, English, Zulu, Sotho...(11 official languages).

Our diversity is not our problem. It is the greed and lack of empathy in our leaders and even ordinary nigerans to do the right thing that is the problem. Students should be allowed to speak languages of their choice among themselves.

Why is it annoying if a middle class speaks poor English? It could be confusing but not annoying.

Speaking a language well has to do with kind of experience that person had in his or her early years in that language. A child of the middle class spends considerable time with a nanny and parents that speaks poor English for a long time, may pick up the bad English while a child from a poor home that spends time watching cds not dstv of batman, Zack and Cody plus other american shows and reads for fun all those comprehension stories in English textbooks, such a child will most likely speak very good English even when the parents cannot speak English.

It's this your wife that will kill you. It's like once some of you men get married, you trade your sense of reasoning along the way. Just imagine the nonsense you defended. What was wrong in your mum requesting an addition in your wedding guest list? Would that your wife have rejected it if it had come from her mother? She should be happy she got a good mother-in-law willing to make things work out, else, she would have been shown what's like to have issues with mothers-in-law. I don't blame her sha, it's you I blame.
I won't lie, that part of not including his mother's guests taya me. It is just not acceptable at all. But the part where she wants to be involved in her in law's birthday was a bit confusing. I think his mum just wants to be truly involved as she is probably lonely. Bia OP, from what I read here both have faults but your wife is just not considerate at all or even disrespectful. I did not sense disrespect from your mum just that she wants to be involved in events. When the event involves other people, how hard or stressful is it to involve her?

Besides your mum is going out of her way to broker peace and your wife is just not ready to find common ground. She is sha doing herself especially now that a baby is involved. Let your mum also enjoy the baby o.

Pls focus on your health and baby. Always try to vosit the hospital regularly to ensure you are not in a life threatening situation.

I have to ask why men don't just go for vasectomy when they know they are done with child bearing?
Wives should demand this because birth control methods for women are usually accompanied with lots of complications that are life threatening in some situations.
I guess in marriage one would have to be sexually disciplined with their spouse when they want children but can't at the moment because the birth control methods could be dangerous and the man can't get a vasectomy.

Why are we Nigerians and Africans like this? In civil climes u plan for a baby, it doesn’t just happen suddenly or by error. U either get married 1st and plan or if ur doing the baby mamas thing u still plan and expect. Accidental pregnancies that disrupt people’s lives shud stop.

I don’t support abortion bt I don’t appreciate disrupting a gals life without making concrete plans. It’s wrong on every level, now u want her to even put her future plans on hold for u without marrying her or having the financial capacity to do necessary preparations for a proper wedding.

It’s unfair and unjust.
What gets me tired is the way guys and girls will be chanting how they must have sex in a relationship but when it results to pregnancy in this unfavorable economy for the majority, you will realise that a lot of them are just clueless adults and when the girl or her family decides to abort, the guy turns to one holy Nweje talking of how he can't partake in murder but can put someone's life on hold without marriage and bring a baby to this country to live a life of chance.

The thing is what you term tangible might be less tangible to another person e.g he might have cheated and the family would have expected her to swallow it cos to them marriage is more tangible but to her loyalty is more tangible.

Dakore never hid herself or pretended to be someone else but Olumide went ahead. So he is more to blamed.
I doubt Dakore, who knew and accepted her unique self back then had no idea about the kind of family Olumide is from or perhaps she had no one to warn her. Everyone important to her then would not see it as a big deal for a woman in such a marriage to stop everything about her just to keep the marriage going so no need to warn her about such things.
I wish both of them luck.

You asked a question, the same question my late dad asked me when late Princess Diana of England had an accident with her lover in the same car, they were driving in. And at that moment she was about leaving everything behind, her marriage, her sons and her husband the Prince Charles. But because the family of Charles could not bear the shame, people knew the accident who took Princess Diana life with her lover was masterminded. So I told my dad but why did she want a divorce from Prince Charles, they are very powerful family in England and so rich with lots of rules.

My dad said if u were in her shoes and brought up in a low class family, I will behave like her too.

He said but because I Was brought up differently with certain rules and regulations. I know I have to behave at all times. I know I can't go partying anyhow, I know I can't dress anyhow, I know I have to watch my every move publicly because I know the family I come from. I know i have to understand my husband cannot be at home everytime playing love, because he has so many commitments out there to keep the family running. I know I can't just walk away from my marriage just like that. I know I have to consider the kids and what people will say. I know I have to support my husband through thick and thin. Etc. The list is endless

So if were married to Akande. I will stay.

I don't have dreadlocks

I don't party

I don't club.

I like social club, I can attend once in a while.

I don't want to be an actress

I don't like the limelight.

I'm a very private and shy person even though I appear different online.

I believe in family and I believe in increasing the wealth and stability of the family.

I'm not a lady who will get worked up if u don't call me everyday. It's not a must you do.

Im more into expansion of the family's wealth, character and strength, than calling me to say love words everyday. I don't have time for frivolities.

So for someone like me, I will be working by the side in my fashion biz and yes still stay married to him.
Diana was from an aristocratic family with connections to the RF and was well brought up.

Her problem with charles was not because of his commitments to keep the house running but because of his commitment to cheating with Camilia.

You might not know it but you made it look like Diana was a person without an aristocratic upbringing that decided to rebel just because her husband was truly commited to work in order to sustain the family.

Yes alot of ladies will pray to be in her shoes but not every lady would want to be in her shoes.
For example : all through last year, suitors were coming but they all. Wanted me to close down my company and be a full time house wife.

Why? They were scared men will keep wooing me even after marriage and it's best to lock me up and not work. Just eat, fucvk, drink and breed babies.

Sighs
I was virtually crying to one old man who's my friend at my office building. I told him why are men like this?

Why should I close up what makes me happy, give me joy and keeps my brain working. And Just stay at home and be watching telemundo day in day out! But why are men this selfish!
Why must I shut down this part of my life, just because I want to marry! sad

It's not fair! I rather remain single ,keep running my company, meet people everyday than marry and just seat at home and keep getting fatter everyday with kids running around. Why cant I have both!

Guess what the old man said?
I can't guess anything out of the usual. Pls what did he say?

I’m in no way supporting the lady and her actions. My point is the elder sis should have not antagonized her younger sis to the point of acting foolishly. Hey there’s a child involved, doesn’t it count for something? Seeing that she has the means to make a difference in their lives. Look at it from that angle
Does she not help even with the insults when asked?

What if the means was not there and it is not even there now, so he will continue his street life forever?

Is that how he arranges with the OP to beat and frame up his own family member(s) when they antagonize him? Or no one has mind to antagonize him in his family? Perhaps they are just indifferent which is even worse. If she confesses and her parents probably start abusing and even cursing him per second or per hour, shey she will plan with him to ruin them too na. So that he can finish what is left of her family kpatakpata.

Whether she likes it or not, the guy just used her to disgrace her family for nothing. Only him got one sis pregnant at 15 and only him slapped elder sis, framed and destroyed the elder sis relationship. If she has sense she will know that this one has passed see finish and it is only a matter of time before he uses everything against her. Then and only then she will understand cos from her responses, you can tell she is still floating.

I will share a common quote with you; "the only person stopping you is you". OP and her baby daddy were the ones stopping and are still the ones stopping themselves from making something out of their lives not her elder sis.

Do you realize they have a child together? It’s so easy to throw blames when it’s not us involved. The family as a whole did not handle the matter well. The elder sister has a duty to call the guy and have a heart to heart talk with him. If the elder sister was thinking right, she should have been concerned in taking that guy off the street because her sister and her child is involved. Actions have consequences
She has a duty to take him off the street??
This only supports OP and her entitled and unremorseful self. So as she did not perform this duty is that the reason why he does not have anything tangible to his name in this space of 5 years after getting a 15 year old pregnant?

But they're sisters now? You get? Ok let me ask you this, is there any provocation that can lead you to call the police on your sibling? Come to think of it. Didn't the elder sister think about their parents? Now I'm not saying op was right, just saying as much as we're calling out the op, her sister too should be blamed.

And trust me, if op's bf had absconded when he got her pregnant, it's this same sinister elder sister that would remind op everyday that "you see, you gave birth to a bastard". She would have reminded op everyday that her child is a bastard without a moment's hesitation.

The thing about most of us is that, we've not yet fully grasped the concept of unconditional love. Unconditional love looks beyond past mistakes, forgives, and helps the other person grow. It guides them for as long as they need guidance and support. This is what I expect of the sister. If you must reprimand, do it once and move past it, not rip the other person of what's left of their self-confidence.
Your question is uncalled for cos I already said "she may be faulted". It simply means I don't support the action and still I can't blame her. What happened to insulting her back?

You are calling the sister sinister because she reminds her of her mistakes each time? No probs. I just hope you know some parents need you to fail just WAEC and they will sing a failure song untill their ward gets it right. Will you call those parents sinister? It is not a good thing but there is no need describing her as a sinister person.
