Yes. That could be a good deal from the mining site. So long as it isn't synthetic gems. Because of rarity of earth gems, lab synthetic gems have been making incursion into the market.
Gems are measured in carat not gram. Value depends on the type of gem. A 2.5 carat tourmaline could be 150 times worth than emerald equivalent depending on the market value. I doubt you could get such deal from mining sites less at the dealer market but then anything is possible.
A good gem dealer must be able to identify a genuine gem by its imperfections.
Imperfections are a result of millions of years of sustained heat compression of rare earth metals.

At point of extraction, these imperfections cause refraction of sunlight as you beam the gem to light exposure. Reason why dealers bend the gems to sunlight to evaluate the imperfections. If a gem is synthetic, the imperfection take a regular path,.

Many American politicans who become president have had some political evidence (Clinton and Reagan at least were governors for some time before becoming President....which is a good way of getting your feet wet for the Presidency: Reagan was even governor of California which is a mini-US for all intents and purposes). Trump didn't have much political experience, and he didn't listen well well to the pols surrounding him (unlike Eisenhower who I thik listened to his political colleagues)

You made a salient point. He never had a previous political career but enjoyed the benevolence of the American people. He wasn't elected by popular vote but the electoral college vote.

What did he give in return? Abuse, disrespect for all. He made a mockery of the white house. He made the prestigious office of the United States look like it was designed for charlatans.

The global market is dominated by only a few middlemen, mostly from Europe, middle East and Asia.

The end users are the fashion industry in the western world. These guys know nothing about the gem industry.
So long as these fashion industries continue to grow the gemstone industry will continue to grow. The countries that make the most of the profits don't even have the deposits in their backyard.
They depend on all these ECOWAS mules to get cheap and affordable gemstone to sell to their market.

If Nigeria wants to attract the global gem industry it can with very, very minimal effort and above all sincerity and commitment.
I remember as an undergraduate, I use to attend a monthly meeting of mining industry expert back in Lagos Island. There wasn't much commitment. Just press talks and no actions.
The government of OBJ was the last to show genuine commitment to the industry. All other government only paid lip service.
Professor Oby Ezekwesili's two years as minister of mines was the best the industry ever had.

Since then, nothing concrete. Just hot air and no action.

To start the business, you need to be familiar with gemstone and it's purity and quality level. As a dealer, you might buy a stone from the artisanal miners site at 20,000 naira only to find out the purity level is very low and cracks might abound. You end up selling the gemstone at a loss.

If you have as much as 10million naira, you could get in as a mega dealer. You buy gemstones from dealers at comparative advantage, sell to buyers in the international market at higher margin.
In this case, you will need all the connect to get a licence to move your gemstones out of the country and of course the connect to sell in Thailand, Germany,Tel Aviv or any international market.

You must also be conversant with emerging mining sites so you could get good deals ahead of other dealers.
Back in the later 2000s, falansa in oyo state became a hotspot for gemstones mining, dealers bought aquamarine stones worth 100,000 for as little as 20,000 because the market became saturated, six months later , the same gemstone went for as high as 200,000.

Democrats who never gave Trump a chance are in deep shock right now as they're not seeing what they expected. US election has always been determined by electoral votes, and Trump won hands down.

Democrats in their shock want to move fast and continue counting votes after the results have rolled in. They are looking for a window to manufacture so called 'mail in votes' hoping for Biden to catch up with it. But that's not the law. You don't continue voting after the election is done. You see why Trump will be heading to Supreme Court in the morning to ask the court to stop this charade. Besides, the court is part of our civilization.
