Even a Private Citizen acted responsibly by self isolating right from the moment of return and submitting himself for quarantine, but such public figures in Abuja as Abba Kyari acted recklessly, thinking there is some sort of special immunity for them

Most likely hundreds. They went to extend their emissaries to the acting president as Nigerians would do not knowing the man came loaded with the virus.
Next week will be interesting

Some good news

A South Korean company has developed a simple tester that it said could detect if a person is infected with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID 19) in just 10 minutes, according to local news site Media News1.

The company, PCL, a provider of in vitro diagnostic products, said its breakthrough testing kit, named COVID-19 Ag GICA Rapid, can check nasal discharge for the presence of the virus within 10 minutes with an accuracy rate of around 85 percent.

The testing can be done at home, just like a regular pregnancy test, which means it can eliminate the stigma and trauma of people who have to go to testing centers or clinics to have themselves checked if they suspect of having the virus. It also trims the risk of exposure to other people.

If the testing kit is approved, it could be the breakthrough that health authorities around the world need to contain the spread of the coronavirus.

The question I would ask you is if this government is inept, were they also responsible for lack of power supply for.the rest 55 years?
Seems you have something against Nigerians in general. Some of us have setup businesses with hard earned money and lack of basic infrastructure like power has turned these investments in zero.

The recent clampdown on ride hailing services powered and managed by Nigerians is a good example. These ideas and costly initiative are currently been shortlived by a few elites who put themselves first before the populace. They call themselves government. Governance in this part of the world is a totally different definition to what we have elsewhere.

Accepted, the government cannot take all blame but they lead and others follow. The top of handswe have in government at the moment are inept and have nothing to offer.
Unfortunately these are the sets of people who are most desperate for leadership.
Africa/Nigeria is an irony

Wow. With the increasing threat of Covid-19, there's bound to be restrictions in places of association.
Only a few companies in Nigeria have their manufacturing processes fully automated. In the event of a lock down, I doubt if our Telco infrastructure will be able to support the impending traffick.

Correction. Lagosians didn't want him out, rather it was APC Lagos.

Lies

Oshiomole is too stubborn and arrogant to let Obaseki go like that. Infact he might no mind to loose his chairman position just to see Obaseki gone.

We are watching and reading as things unfold
You think PMB has forgiven him for allowing powers that be in APC Lagos have their way as against his (PMB) wish.
The presidency has nothing to lose after all but the man in power doesn't treat disdain and contempt likely.
If Oshiomole insists on having his way with Obaseki then he might as well be ready to let go that APC NWC chairmanship position.
With Obaseki out of the way, APC can as well bid farewell to Edo state.
Remember the election that brought in Obaseki was a contentious one that Oshiomole superpervised the manipulation.
Why do you think APC have just one senatorial seat while PDP have the other two.
If the APC lose the upcoming election to PDP, they can as well say "Bon Voyage" to South South.

I won't say a word
I believe it can be done in Nigeria but ours is not as developed as the rest of the world. Also, this would be subject to widespread data abuse.

It all boils down to capacity. If we have enough capacity, can we scale down on cost? Obviously not.
The base line infrastructure (power and security) is still a financial burden for the telcos.

This is something most people down south are unable, have failed or refused to understand.
The biggest scam of the century. Keep deceiving yourself. If truly you are one why then do you keep the fulfude dialect seperate from the Hausa dialect. Why not have a single unifying language to solidify the union.
Whether you like it or not, so long as you are human, now or the nearest future, one has to give way for the other.
The only thing the Hausa has to hold on to in this entity is the Hausa language. They've been stripped of every privilege except their huge population and dominant language.

Identity crisis looms in the north.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Federal Communications Commission said Friday that major internet providers - including Comcast Corp, AT&T Inc and Verizon Communications Inc - agreed not to terminate service for subscribers for the next 60 days if they are unable to pay their bills due to disruptions caused by the coronavirus.

FCC Chairman Ajit Pai said after calls with more than 50 companies that they also agreed to waive any late fees residential or small business customers incur because of their economic circumstances related to the coronavirus pandemic.

They also agreed to open Wi-Fi hotspots to anyone who needs them, the FCC said.
Millions more Americans are expected to work from home as employers and states urge people to telework to reduce the potential to spread the coronavirus outbreak.

Others agreeing to take part are Alphabet Inc's Google Fiber, Charter Communications Inc, CenturyLink Inc, Cox Communications, Sprint Corp, T-Mobile US Inc.

"As the coronavirus outbreak spreads and causes a series of disruptions to the economic, educational, medical and civic life of our country, it is imperative that Americans stay connected," Pai said in a statement. "Broadband will enable them to communicate with their loved ones and doctors, telework, ensure their children can engage in remote learning."

FCC Commissioner Jessica Rosenworcel, a Democrat, praised the companies adopting the pledge, but said the FCC should do more.

She called on the commission to "provide hotspots for loan for students whose school doors have closed" and should "work with health care providers to ensure connectivity for telehealth services are available for hospitals, doctors, and nurses treating coronavirus patients and those who are quarantined."

Pai also said he had asked providers that offer low-income consumers lower-speed cheaper service to increase speeds and expand eligibility. Comcast said Thursday it was raising its speeds for all its low-income users, while AT&T said it was waiving data caps for consumers that have plans with usage caps.

Pai also wants broadband providers to relax their data cap policies and for "telephone carriers to waive long-distance and overage fees in appropriate circumstances, on those that serve schools and libraries to work with them on remote learning opportunities, and on all network operators to prioritize the connectivity needs of hospitals and healthcare providers."

Internet firms and associations express confidence that U.S. networks can withstand the predicted jump in traffic.

The trade group U.S. Telecom said in a letter to Congress on Friday that in areas where workers are being told to stay home the group has "not observed time shifted traffic exceeding peak network capacity."

Verizon, which confirmed it was taking part in the pledge, said as of "it has not seen any measurable increase in data usage on any of its networks." More than 60% of U.S. network traffic is video and content streaming.
