Hi Vivian did u apply for child birth? How did it go? Pls let us know how it goes. Please anyone in the house that has applied for child birth in Canada should share their experience whether positive or negative. Anyone who has had a baby in canada on visit visa should please share the details. Thanks

this thread must not die oh

VivianU:
Hello House, Happy new year.

Please I really commend this forum. It has been informative.
It is from this chat that I got to know that a child born in Canada is given automatic citizens even though none of his parents are citizens or permanent resident of Canada.

Based on this information, I want to apply for Canadian visa. I am 5 months gone. I also have a relation in Canada, so where I will stay is not a problem.

However I want know if I will be given a visa, if I indicate that I am already pregnant and I have funds to cater for my bills. Currently I have like N2MM in my account. I hope if I present that it in my account statement it will suffice.

Pls I will really appreciate an urgent response.

There are way cheaper doctors at WHMC. I used Dr Jeanie Huynh last December and her fee was 2000$ whether CS or normal delivery. Plus she accepted all my tests.

ozycy:

WHMC, I droff my cap for for this una price.
They ve so so increased their prices eh Chai. Even all their doctors have increased prices. Foreigners especially Nigerians (not only nairalanders) have bombarded the place eh. I can rmber the social worker telling me that in every 10 birth certificate she registers in a day, 8 are Nigerians lol. Thank GOD I ran to OMC this time and I don't have any regret. Just ranting grin

I never got to buy any new part cuz the ones it came are still in good condition. It came with 2 membranes but I m still on the first one.

shelly23:
If you produce a lot of milk, then please buy the medela electric pump. It is worth every expensive dollar it costs! Especially if you plan to have more kids. I've had mine since my first son 4 yrs ago and brought it with me for my new baby, in between my sister and cousin used it sef (they bought their own accessories though).
If your milk flow isn't that much, then the manual on should work just fine. I got a free one from the hospital and use it when I don't feel like plugging the electric one.
If you end up with the electric one, make sure you buy extra membranes cos they wear our pretty quickly depending on how much you use the pump sha.

Try pigeon portable electric breast pump. Itz small and does a good job. U can as well use batteries if u are out of electricity. It works so good and is durable. I used it every single day for my first upto 6 and half months and now using same for my new baby now 3 months old and still using daily. We first got medella manual pump which didn't last for more than 2 weeks for my first then we got the ever so good pigeon.

IyawoToBe:
What brand do you recommend abeg! I don't trust all those oyinbo women singing praises of medela electric breast pump. An African woman's breast is different and that medela is quite expensive undecided

It is very handy trust me especially for those mommas doing exclusive breastfeeding. It helps boost your milk supply plus you won't have to nurse in public. You just have to pump enough and take in a bottle to feed baby when you are out. You can always pump excess milk and store in the refrigerator for upto 6 days and in the freezer for up to 6 months. Once thawed from the freezer shouldn't be refreezed but kept in the refrigerator or used. Breast milk can stay at room temperature for upto 6 to 8 hours without contamination so itz so handy. I did 6 months exclusive breastfeeding for my first now 2 and half years old. My second is now 3 months old and I hope to go through his first 6 months exclusive breastfeeding too. May God give us the strength for this great love.

Going off course
Please did anyone find a buggie useful in naija
Did anyone find a breast pump useful(electric)

Hello Guys. Pls those using and have used Dr FUNSHO. Has anyone done the Glucose Tolerance Test Before? Wats it all about pls n what was ur experience? Did u eat before the test n all. Pls let me know

Well, most people do the glucose screening test only. A glucose tolerance test is only done if the glucose screening test showed possible gestational diabetes. For the screening test u don't need to starve. U need to eat as usual. You will be given a glucose solution to drink and blood collected after an hour and tested. If you show possibility of gestational diabetes only then will you be required to do the glucose tolerance test which is usually a 3 hour test.

With this, you will need to starve for atleast 8 hours and blood sample will be collected upon arrival. You will be given an oral glucose solution and blood samples will be collected every hour for the next 3 hours.

So you need to know if you actually need to do a glucose tolerance test. If you haven't done the screening yet then you need to do it first.

Hello family, long time no post. I read all d time though and it so much fun with all the info-tainment.
Yaayyy @blogerrina so good to read from you. But this one you are back to groundnut chopping, I wonder when you'll have our time again grin

For those of us looking for cheap flights, has anyone thought of Turkish airlines? I think they just/or will start flying from abuja and the prices are reasonable (very).
Please has any of our mamas used them before? How was the experience? How was the return leg with an infant?
I read the max they fly for preggies is 35weeks from their site but they said the doctor has to include his diploma number in the fit to fly letter. Please what is a diploma number?

Turkish has excellent service. For a return leg just book for a basinet when booking baby's ticket. I had an amazing experience.

Hello people,my wife is due in May and she will be travelling alone with our 2yr old daugther.I will be joining them later. Is there going to be a problem at the POE at houston texas how a pregnant woman will take care of a 2yr old.
N

No there is no issue with a Preggy travelling with a 2 year old without assistance. I travelled with my 2 year old daughter when I was 32 weeks pregnant with Houston as my poe. The secondary inspection people didn't care at all about my baby's welfare and kept us waiting for over 10 hrs simply because I was unfortunate to arrive on a day when they had had many preggies sent back.

@ FavourB .

That test should ve been one of the test u did during ur antenatal days.if u did it show them the result if not I understand their concerns HepB is a serious issue pls do the test if u ve not done it Be4 better safe Dan sorry.

Also some1 mentioned the hearing text. I Think that test is a USA requirement for new born. Pls if u can do the test I think the amount u mentioned is high n there should be a discount when I did for my NB It was only $200 n I didn't think twice about it.

Hep B is obligatory for all preggies whereas the new born hearing test is optional. I declined the hearing test for both of my kids. If u don't want to do the hearing test you just need to decline and you will b left alone after singing to you how very important it is.

Well you can not travel two weeks or three weeks after delivery, you are only allowed to travel after 2months minimum. Also in Idaho state you can delivery with $4,000 if it's natural birth and no epidoral, anyway I wish you luck.

I travelled with my baby when he was 3 weeks old. Thatz recently and my baby is now 6 weeks old

Kindly respond

No I had a few left which I later did with her. Actually she prefers when itz done w her even though she ll accept d ones from home. Don't stress urself if u can't do all. The cost is exactly what u see on the price sheet she sent to you except for PAP smear.

Congrats pet me 3,

Pls how long did it take for ur baby's birth certificate to come out? Can u pls give me a step by step process on how you got all ur baby's docs.would like to return home as soon as possible. Thanks

The vital records office sed it would take 14 bussiness days but we decided to check earlier and realised it had been ready 5 days after my delivery. These 5 days include 2 days of weekend which means it took 3 bussiness days. Yet to go for the passport on the 9th cuz was fully booked. My advice is to book an appointment for the passport as early as possible. Will update u as I obtain the documents.

@GenoMI, thanks for the info. Good to know.
Will be travelling with my daughter who is less than 2 years. Does anyone know if they assign her a seat as am paying for an infant ticket or i have to carry her in my lap?

Paying an infant ticket means u are supposed to carry ur baby on ur lap. However, u may just b fortunate to find an empty Seat on the plane which u might use at ur own discretion.
