Tell us why Onyekuru is better than Simon Moses with facts? Is Simon Moses Yoruba too? shocked grin

I would chose Simon Moses ahead of Onyekuru.

Like I said I know you seeing it more from the tribal angle.

His name is Simon Ajala Moses. As I said even if he is not Yoruba what you are fighting is Igbo dominance. Any other tribe but Igbo will do for you.

ever since Ola Aina came into the picture, has he mentioned Ebuehi ever since? food for thought

His mission here is majorly to cry against Igbo dominance.

He only sees the call for Onyekuru ahead of Simon as a tribal thing.

That guy's tribalism has no chill.

I cannot disappoint you because I don't even know you exist. You disappoint yourself. I think you have a warped sense of information processing. I would like to see the quote you allude to so I can show you the context, if any.

It's obvious you're trying very hard to pin the Yoruba label to me. Can you proof it? I speak the three major languages as my upbringing and job/entrepreneurship has taken me to every part of this country, so can I see your proof of me being a Yorubaman other than these childish tantrums?

If you see me write Yoruba and hence think I'm Yoruba, what will you do when I show you posts in which I wrote Igbo of the Enugu variety? Can you see how much you have failed?

But I wait for you to show me this quote you speak of.

Well, I am too busy to spend valuable hours digging up one I formation from over a year ago.

Just call your Yoruba brother to order. He is messing up this thread.

Who doesn't know the NFF has been polarized with majority from some section of the country? shocked grin

Who doesn't know that their decisions always goes in favour or influence the selection of coaches from some section of the country for all the national teams in the country?

Wait for the under 17, 20 and 23 coaches to be announced then we go know something.

Somebody has already made it clear that one section of the country will no longer smell coaching the national teams. Abi you know see that one? shocked grin

Your mission here is clearly defined. IE to kick against the perceived injustice against your tribesmen both in the NFF and Super Eagles. And more so to kick against the perceived dominance of a particular ethnic group in Nigerian football.

You dey fall my hand big time.

You have carried over the hating of the ibos from the politics section to this place. Mind you, I am not from the SE.

You are about the first person I was convinced about his ethnicity here. Right from your first few comments here your mission was clear. I recall oga icon4s clearly told you that from your comments he knew you are from a particular section of the country. I remember how you denied you were Yoruba. Lying.

Joseph1013 who has dissapointedly become your attorney also accused you of being a defender of "awon omo Odua". Joseph I lie? So why the turn around. It is very obvious you are both tribes men.
There are people I respect a lot on this thread. One of such is tbaba1234. From his comments on other threads I deduce where he is from but he does not display it here at all. Even the icon4s that you like pointing fingers at as being tribalistic, not until when he stated where he is from I didn't even know. I know you don't like him because he is the only person and perhaps safarigirl and recently humility017 that have openly accused you of tribalism. Almost every one of us here except those that share same tribal sentiments with you know your mission on this thread.

Humility017, Joebie, Goldfish80, Michael2, do4luv, and co. Despite how active they are here I don't know which part of the country they are from. TheGoodJoe because he stated it here I wouldn't have known also.

Forgiveness, you want to destroy this wonderful thread with tribalism.
I remember the last time you were active here it was a battle settling the dispute between you and TheSuperNerd. That was the last time he also was active here. You were away on self exile and now you are back and this thread has become a dumping ground for all sorts of shamefully comments.

If this thread continues like this, well.......

Excuse me.

Please don't bring me into this current matter.

I have been on this thread now since inception and I can tell you I know the thinking pattern of almost everyone here.

You don't need to defend anybody. Let him defend himself except if you are telling us you share same sentiments with him.

He went on self imposed exile and we have been enjoying discussions without seeing that word 'tribalism'. He is back and that word keeps coming up.
Even accusing Rohr of cultism just because he didn't include certain players from a certain part of the country. I don't blame anyone for accusing him of tribalism.

Leave Joseph. He is just showing solidarity to his Yoruba brother.

Something that is very very obvious.

The suggestiveness when it has to do with forgiveness is truly amazing. It was Icon4s that started it in one of their heated arguments and since then it has been a recurring pattern for anyone who happens to disagree with him subsequently to use it as a cop-out when he runs out of sound arguments. It's so easy to latch on to it when nothing substantive can be offered in the discussion.

He says a lot of nonsense that I just ignore, like some others here, but somehow he manages to back them up, even when they sound childish. But it is confirmation bias to say the only people he fronts for to make the Eagles are his tribesmen. Anyone who has been on this thread long enough knows that he argues for anything foreign. That's all he knows and I 100% can tell you that he has argued for foreign players from the North, South and East of the country that are legitimate for the Eagles.

If anyone has a reason why those he fronts should not be called, let him bring forth their arguments. Constantly reverting to 'tribalism' may excite some people here, but it's a sight that kills off all manner of constructive discussion.

For instance, I had expected the moniker in question to call him up on the issue of "Rohr and cultism", not bring up the childish label of tribalism. Life is not so serious.

You and forgiveness are obviously from the same ethnic group. This is just a solidarity comment.

Monday Odiaka was initially the most shinning star from the fantastic 1985 U20 team that finished 3rd at the WYC. In fact Monday Odiaka won the golden boot in that tournament. From the crop only Andrew Uweh and Ndubuisi Okosieme made the Maroc 88 AFCON squad. But Siasia later managed to transit into the Super Eagles. In fact his first AFCON was Senegal '92 Daniel Amokachi was exempted due to injury I think. Amokachi first featured at Algiers 90.

Samuel Okwaraji was the SS to Yekini in that '88 AFCON. Amokachi took over from Okwaraji.

Amokachi was Nigeria's first choice Supporting striker to Yekini.

That Nigeria Vs Argentina game you made reference to see the way Westerhoff lined up his team:

.......................Rufai

Eguaveon..Nwanu..Okechukwu..Emenalo

..........................Oliseh

..........................Siasia

Finidi.................................... Amuneke

............Amokachi
............................Yekini.

Samson Siasia played Central Midfield (surprised?) while Amokachi retained his SS spot.

I remember vividly that Sissie's selfish incidence against Ivory Coast. We were losing 2-1 in Abidjan. Yekini was unmarked and on-side. Rather than for Siasia to pass to Yekini he blasted the ball wide.
Westerhorf also axed Reuben Agbola after that match.

You come to think of it that there was also "the head master" Mutiu Adepoju in that team. But he was a fringe player even with his qualities . Can ever get to that level again?

So my brother I still defend my not including Siasia in my 1990-1999 first 11.

Bros the way you always remember these things. Me I no fit name our complete starting line up for Nigeria Vs France at 2014 WC.

Well done Sir. We have definitely learned a lot from your experience Of Nigerian football. You are an icon of Nigerian football reporting indeed.

Work more on your objectivity, both assertions you made about my mention are 1OO% wrong, the closest to north I can say for me is Kwara and I also have no love for any political party.

I also don't do religion(at least not the type of religions in Nigeria), another epic fail.

My comments is more on Nigeria and not a region, I guess you skipped my comments that supported tours in Uyo or any other parts of Nigeria.

Anyways work more on your ability to judge from distance.

Tbaba1234 obviously sounds like a Muslim and also an APC sympathiser. He doesn't sound like a Northerner. He could be from Kwara though.

shut down the thread because of one loss? it doesn't really make much sense and we should all be ashamed. It's just something that happens all we need to do is quench these useless debates and try to be objective. we used to have similar arguments back then like I remember Oshaniwa vs Echejile but the difference then was that nobody was insulting the other, we could go 10 pages without even perceiving the slightest scent of an insult, now it seems to be the order of the day.

Some things need to stop;
1) Forgiveness you need to stop attacking Icon4s it makes absolutely no sense that whenever he says something creative you start calling him a tribalist even when it isn't related to the problem. if you must disagree with him please outline your points respectfully

2) we need to change this perception that once you criticize a player it makes you a hater. theSuperNerd is the main person here and that is why I respect Icon4s here and Tbaba if you criticize their player they will come out with sound reasons to defend them not just tagging you a hater and reeling out insults, that drives people away

3) we all need to remember why this thread is here, we have an aim to maintain this thread till 2022 to see how our predictions for that world cup will go. we all believe that Nigeria can finally get it right at that tourney it would be a shame if we don't get to celebrate that together

4) People should stop being attorneys to their favorite players. Some can argue with the last blood in their veins just to defend a player they so much idolize. All the players are Nigerians whether foreign born or locally bread. And they all deserve a right to play for their fatherland.

5) Forgiveness. I see reasons with a lot of your points but I think the manner and approach you have adopted will only lead to a thread (ethnic) war here. Nobody is free from tribal sentiments whether knowingly or unknowingly but you don't have to make it too obvious.

Some became personal attorneys to their favorite players.
Some saw this as an opportunity to retable their favorite players.

Oga, no worry ya head with Icon4s analyses. He's only thinking of playing Iwobi the Arsenal boy in the team.

Who doesn't know Iwobi is not a tested CMF?

I have said it several times that the national team wants to accommodate only some sets of players in the National team hence the need convert players upandan from their natural position to makeshift position.

Why are you like this?

Someone is trying to say something reasonable you are just spewing trash here.

If they say you should make contribution now na only Ajagun you go fit talk.

If you don't have anything more to contribute to this thread just log off and join the #teamghostmode#

icon4s has just raised a valid point here.
Etebo is not creative enough to be our CM or AM in the long run.

Several players play different roles in club and country.

Though I am not of the opinion we play Iwobi as a CM against Cameroon but it is something the technical crew can look into to experiment with in a less competitive game.

Your first paragraph is just the summary of why our attack could not break down the SA defense.

For eg in that first half Iheanacho was practically kept off on several occasions. There were through balls from the midfield in that first half but they were either intercepted by their organized CB pairing or they kept Iheanacho off.

To rescue the situation, Iwobi had to play wide to pull usually two of the defenders to him. Expecting a disorganization of the CB pairing which could have given room for Iheanacho to operate. But his lack of athletism limited him to wide positions plus the SA defenders made sure he never made progress into the their 18yards box.

Etebo in an attempt to break the defence started making solo runs - what he is known for but his finishing touches let him down as he was always putting himself in a difficult position to aim at goal. Etebo's problem now I think is the 'Jack of all trade but master of none'. I think we need to define the role he will play for the national team and confine him to it. I recommend the CM. The role he played against Algeria.

Simon Moses has not improved a bit. He is not a starter IMO. He tried to use his skill and pace to outwit the SA defenders but his crosses were either not timely or too wide. At a point he was just playing crosses not directly targeting any player and expecting a miracle to happen.

Iheanacho was not much involved in the game. The major highlight I have of him was the pass he gave to Etebo that he missed. Secondly were the countless times he was caught in off side positions. The SA coach probably after seeing Iheanacho at City has understood that the only way to stop him from playing is not to allow the balls to get to him. We saw that happen several times at City this season. Iheanacho rides on the back of good Atracking midfield and wings play. He is still our most lethal finisher.

Kayode substituting Iheanacho was when the game ended for Nigeria.

Let me analyse Rohr's thinking before the substitution: We were on a 4-3-3 formation and under sparadic attacks from SA. Depleting the midfield further by removing either Iwobi or Simon would spell more doom. In the balance of play SA was having the upper hand in the midfield at that point in time. He left the two wingers and pulled out Iheanacho with the expectations that Kayode who is more of a natural striker than Iheanacho would have been able to use his pace and skills to outwit the SA defenders on a one on one basis. Alas it turned out that Rohr over estimated Kayode's abilities. At a time in the game I asked if Kayode was still on that field.

Musa's introduction was to introduce more direct play as Iwobi was practically kept wide and we made more incursion into the SA defense as he was even able to combine well on one or two occasions with Kayode. But the player to finish those moves was not there. Had Iheanacho been kept in the game.... who knows?

Osimhen, was the final trow of the die. We were 2-0 down already and so he just had to gamble by pulling out Simon. Osimhen made some good touches and edge of the box moves but not good enough to make anything happen.

Mikel and V. Moses would have obviously made the difference. What the SA defenders did was to keep Iwobi and Simon in wide positions something Moses would have been able to break with his dribbling skills, pace and direct play.
Mikel would have been able to break down the organised SA defense with his dribbling skills, ball holding and shielding abilities plus timely release of the ball for Iheanacho.

If it is doable I would have pleased with God to take Mikel's age back to at least 25!. We are not ready to move on without him.

All these wahala was bc we met a very organized defense.

Then also I think Rohr spent more time focusing on our strength and not much on SA's weaknesses while reverse was the case for SA.

I have the belief that we still qualify. We can also beat SA away.

I wish Ikeme, Balogun, Mikel And Moses quick recovery. They are the back bone of the team. August in not far away again.

This is the only balanced and sincere analyses of the game I have read all weekend.

Bigotry and Sentiments have so beclouded our minds here that our senses of fair judgements have been eroded.

Well done Sir!

You are being sentimental over this issue. I may not be a regular in making comments here but I am a regular in reading comments.

I follow arguments here a lot. I recall, one of those arguments that Icon4s stated that most of those Manu boys are not likely to make it to the Super Eagles and I know how u and TheSuperNerd took him up on it. I recall he referred to the 93 Eaglets of having produced the highest number of players that went on to play for the Flying Eagles. 5 Players I think u guys listed.

You see, I am following. wink

We are all watching together. Only two Manu U17 WC winning boys have made it to the Super Eagles-Iheanacho and Musa Mohammed. I was initially against icon4s on that issue but I am beginning to see sense in what he said then. Looks like most of the 18man squad may not progress to the senior team. I know they are still young and developing but their development thus far have nt been as most of us anticipated.

What is happening to Musa Yahaya, Awoniyi, Ezeh, Idowu, Zaharadeen, Alfa, Obasi, Okon, and the likes? I doubt most from this list I mentioned will progress to the Super Eagles.
