The thing is some people just naturally cannot say a sentence or respond to others without insults.

I have been on this thread from almost its inception and I know the character of almost every1 here.

I have also noticed some small-small groups of permanent allies. They will never see anything wrong in any comment made by a member of that gang.

Some peeps have been like sworn enemies in arguments that they can never agree.

Some people jst love a particular set of players for instance the Manu boys. Some love only the foreign born while some love the home groomed.

Some jst chose some set of players to lash while some can give their lives to defend some certain players.

We are all guilty of atleast one of these.

I have seen different schools of thought. Different coaching philosophies.
From the elders to the indomie generation.

The thread is still very much alive. The level of civility in this thread is next to none. The arguments have been top notch.

Lets keep the flag flying.

Crime / An Open Letter To The Efcc: A Great Fraudulent Activity Uncovered In Lagos! by Petrobros: 2:48pm On Sep 09, 2016
The Executive Chairman ,
Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,
Nigeria.

Dear Sir,

I bring to the notice of your good commission irregularities and fraud taking place in a Federal Government Initiative that is being converted to private and selfish initiative.

There is a program being organized by the Nigerian Export Counsil and Style houses Files, its a federal government sponsored program . It is aimed at empowering Nigerians to go into clothes production ( garment construction and pattern drafting)f for both local consumption and export.

The program is to train Nigerians on how to make clothes. The program takes place in the Premises of The Nigerian Exports Council in Apapa.

Nigerians will be amazed by the level of investment the Federal Government has put in place for this empowerment program. Very large number of sewing machines, button fixing machines, weaving machines and so many other machines.

The government makes sure the instructors are foreigners so they can pass/share most adequate knowledge to Nigerians partaking in this program.

This program has been on-going for a while with very low publicity to the general public so that only a few Nigerians in-charge can corner this very good initiative to themselves.

By saying cornering this initiative I mean this bunch of people in-charge in collaboration with some staff of the Nigerian Exports council have their own clothes making factories.
They use this government initiative to train only a few people with low educational backgrounds that will subsequently work in their factories. As such they turn down graduates who are interested in this program. There are only few graduates currently undergoing the traiñing now due to the fear of going to work in Mrs Aromolaran's factory.

Mrs Aromolaran is the owner of Crown natures, situated in Ibeju Lekki, Lagos. She runs this government initiative like her personal business. She has become very skeptical of this present set of trainees because they are mostly graduates. They are not willing to work for her in her factory in anyway.

Since she realized this set are not willing to work for her, she has instructed the instructors not to give so much information, reduce the quality of the training and subsequently stop the training. The trainees were initially given clothing materials to practice whatever they are being taught but later instructed them to stop giving out the materials.
Right now the training has been put on hold!

Please let your good Commission investigate this irregularity and corrupt practises taking place in that program. As we engage in fight against corruption that has bedevilled our dear nation for decades let us fight against this.

Let this initiative carry out the function it is designed for and let Nigerians utilize this opportunity to develop themselves and our economy at large.

Thanking you in anticipation of your prompt action.

-A concerned Citizen.

Chidera Ezeh ahead of Simon Moses? No naaa..
Talking about the way Simon Moses players, his style of play is more suitable to youth competitions. I know a couple of old Nigerian wingers that played the way Simon plays at youth level but when they got to the senior level they became average and later dropped.
Watch the way Iwobi plays from the wings, its very different from how Simon plays it. Iwobi is a more efficient modern winger than Simon.
Simon's style is more tilted towards Victor Moses' style of play.

Besides, Siasia prefers using natural wingers instead of converting Strikers to wingers. This is a major reason I feel a player like Stanley Dimgba stands a better chance than Isaac Success or Imoh Ezekiel.

So who are/were those wingers?

Group B (Our Group) to me is the most evenly matched group.

Lucky enough we got the easiest of the top seeded Teams (Japan).

My assessment of our chances in that Group:

Let's look at the group from 4 angles:

(1) Nigeria finished 1st in African Qualifiers
Columbia finished 2nd in South America ahead of Uruguay and Brazil who were 3rd and 4th respectively
Sweden finished 1st in Europe (a continent that had Spain, Portugal, Germany, Holland, Belgium in participation)
Japan finished 1st in Asia.

3 continental champions and 1 first Runner-up are in our group. How else can u describe it if nt "group of death".

HOWEVER, experience has shown that performance at the continental stage does nt in MOST cases repeat itself in the world stage. We have seen where teams that finished 3rd and 4th in the continental qualifiers doing far better than teams that finished 1st and 2nd second.

(2) Pedigree: What usually repeat itself more at the world stage is performance due to pedigree.

Now, go back and look at the Teams in our group and assess them based on pedigree at this stage (U20 - U23).

The Teams I fear the most at this stage are Brazil, Argentina and Spain. Other threats: Mexico, Portugal, France, Germany.
None of these guys are in our group. However, Columbia, Japan and Sweden have shown they are no push overs at age grade level.
So based on pedigree, we have a fairly easy group.

(3) How do these countries perform at senior levels? The U23 is a very competitive age grade. Very close to the senior World Cup.
A good number of the U23 players are already senior team players for their various countries. No one needs to tell us where the likes of Columbia, Japan and Sweden belong at senior level. Any day any time they are a tough nut to crack. Senior team performance has a way of rubbing off on the U23 team.

(4) Another way you can look at it is who are likely to make the squads for each team? I know a couple of good individual players from Columbia who are U23. With 3 over-aged playesr we expect to see the likes of James Rodrigues, Quadrado and who knows maybe David Ospina in the team. Some1 mentioned Zlatan Ibrahimovic to make the Swede squad. Then Kagawa and co for Japan. All those inclusions make those teams tougher.

My fears just like every other forumite here is will Siasia select our best U23 players plus 3 well deserving over-aged players?

Imagine Ibrahimovic leading Sweden's attack and Taiwo Awoniyi or Osimhen Leading Nigeria's attack. What will u call that? David Vs Goliath. grin

Right now as it is, looking at all 4 angles highlighted above it still points to d fact that we are in a very difficult group. I cannot stick my neck to say whether we will qualify from that group or not until I see Siasia's camping programme and list of invited players.

My verdict: WE ARE IN A VERY DIFFICULT GROUP.

False. Ramon Azeez is languishing in the third tier of Spanish football.

Omeruo is also playing for one obscure league in Turkey. From Eredivisie to Championship, from Championship to Turkey. Decipher grin

Onazi has been relegated to the bench this season.

Uche Nwofor. Nowhere to be found.

Kingsley Madu ; plays in an obscure league in Europe.

Shehu Abdullahi; so so

Wilfred Ndidi; lost for years before he found his footing this season after Ajagun don win trophy for Europe.

Ahmed Musa don rise even before he left the shores of Nigeria.

Moses Simon grin

He played with Omeruo, Ramon Azeez and Onazi at U17.

He played with Ahmed Musa, Ramon Azeez, Uche Nwofor, at U20 in 2011

He played with Moses Simon, Wilfred Ndidi, Shehu Abdullahi and Kingsley Madu at 2013 U20.

The guys he played with have progressed faster than him. True or False?

That is my point. He has not progressed well.

Coaches look at players with high potentials. I prefer players that are on the quick rise not players with stunted progress.

As long as we would have super rising talents like Etebo, Iwobi and Iheanacho who all can play that AM role in that team, Sorry Abdul Forgiveness Ajagun would be a surplus requirement.

That moment when a team has already made 3 substitutions and the game is approaching extra Time. And suddenly a player picks up an injury that rules him out for the rest of the match. And no more substitution angry

I saw the above scenario play-out at the 1988 AFCON in the semi-final clash between Nigeria and Algeria. Who I fit ask here now o? Emm... undecided

Ehen.. forgiveness cheesy you remember that game?

With the game at 1-1 a Nigerian player (think Ademola Adeshina or so.Cant remember well again) had received a Red Card midway into second half of the match. Abt 85mins into the game both teams had made all 3 substitutions. And as the game approached extra time, the Nigerians knew that the Algerians, having the extra player, would have the edge. Then a Legendary player BRIGHT "10-10" OMOKARO ensured both Teams entered extra-time on same scores and same number of men. How?

Omokaro simply injured one of the Algerian players. As the player was being stretchered out Omokaro shouted "10-10 oya make ball continue" grin. The commentator, the Late Ernest Okonkwo , then also shouted some like " it is now 10-10" !
Algeria had already exhausted their 3 subs so no way that player could be replaced. grin

Both teams finished the game "10-10".

That was where Bright Omokaro got his popular nick name "10-10" grin

So introducing a 4th substitution in extra time would prevent the kind of "10-10 scenario.

Baba.. Icon4s u couldn't have said it any better. Your memory is so very strong.

The Toughest Football Players In Nigeria History

How tough were players like Christian Chukwu, Muda Lawal, Godwin Odiye…? Well, you must be physically and mentally strong to play football in Nigeria during the 60s’ and 70s.’ The game is all about ‘kick and follow.’ Hard tackles, head boots and physical struggles were just normal part of the game before the introduction of FIFA Fair Play.

But I want us to look at some players well known for their hardness, those players that share the reputation of the toughest footballers in Nigerian history.

1 Taribo West is one of the toughest central defenders in the world; in the likes of Terry Butcher of England. Although, West became a Pastor towards the later part of his career at Inter Milan, but he was one player who was ready to die in field of play.

With his unique horn hair style, West hard tackle and air battle sent many players off the game for several months. West himself get cut into the injury gushing his own blood in several matches played for club and country.
Playing at Inter Milan at the UEFA Cup, West got elbowed on his forehead and was bleeding furiously, but refused to be substituted.

In another occasion, he threw his jersey on the coach’s face for substituting him – that was the passion and fury with which West approached every game.

West had a professional career which started with Julius Berger FC in Nigeria, before he went to Auxerre in France, Inter Milan, AC Milan, Derby County and retired at Paykan FC in Iran. West made 41 appearances for the Nigeria national team from 1994 to 2002 and he played both in the 1998 and 2002 FIFA world cup.

2. Bright Omokaro, popularly known as ‘Ten-ten ,’ is perhaps the hardest player in Nigeria football history. Omokaro who played at the right full back most of his career, got a notorious reputation with his partner, Sunday Eboiegbe, as ‘the destroyers.’

Omokaro got his nickname ‘ten-ten’ at Maroc 88’ nation’s cup match against Algeria. Ademola Adeshina was given a red card and the Nigeria team was reduced to ten players. So the coach then, Manfred Hoener said to Omokaro, “You know you play hard, now use it to our advantage.” On getting in, Omokaro went hard on one of the Algerian player and he was stretched off the field and couldn’t be substituted. So on the commentary box, Late Ernest Okonkwo screamed, “Omokaro has made it ten-ten.” And the next day it became newspapers headline.

Omokaro professional career span for over 12 years and he played for Bendel Insurance, Asec Mimosa, ACB, Abiola babes, NNB and ended his career with 3sc in 1996. Omokaro won Nigeria National Division one league with NNB as well as WAFU cup, Then CAF Cup with 3sc. Omokaro made over 43 appearances for the Nigeria national team and played in two CAF Nation’s cup.

3. Sunday Eboigbe, known as one of ‘the destroyers’ and the second, Bright Omokaro, both played with Bendel Insurance, NNB and the Nigeria National team between 1982 – 1993. Most outside right or attacking midfielders get knocked off the pitch by the traps deliberately set by Eboigbe and Omokaro.

Eboigbe, a towering 6.6 ft tall central defender easily sweeps off the feet of any opponent with his very dangerous tackles that made him one of the toughest footballers in Nigeria history. With Eboigbe’s fierce look and gigantic approach when running towards an opponent forces the player to lose the ball and run for his dear life.

Eboigbe made over 58 appearances for the Nigeria national team. He won the Nigeria National division one league with NNB as well as WAFU cup. He also won Nigeria professional league with Iwuanyanwu Nationale.

I see Nigeria as being in a difficult group.

Do you recall that Japan and Spain finished First and Second respectively at the last U17 world Cup?

Nigeria lost 3-0 to Spain in the Q/final of that tourney.

We expect to see most of those players that featured for Spain and Japan in this next U20 WC.

Canada may nt usually be as technically gifted as the other 3 teams in the group but they can punish any of the other Teams if they get their tactics right.

However, I still feel Nigeria are slight favorites majorly bc of our pedigree at the U20 level. A couple of the 2014 U20 girls will be part of this Team and that will give them that boost in the area of experience. The following players from the last U20 are still eligible: Sandra Chiichii (goalie), Jiroro Idike, Yetunde Adeboyejo, Uchenna Kanu, Osas Igbinovia, and Chiwendu Ihezuo. It is left for the technical crew to invite them if they are still in form. I know Adeboyejo, Ihezuo and Kanu were part of the qualifiers. And I think goalkeeper Chiichii also.

I expect a tough competition. We are in a difficult group.

Icon4s has spoken. There is usually a way this bros makes his predictions. He usually brings in the words "pedigree", "experience" and the likes. Most of his predictions and expectations have usually followed that pattern.

I am not trying to blow his trumpet for him o, but I just want to say it as it is. Most of his predictions for our national teams at tourneys have usually come to pass. There are several other great guys on this Sports section bt there is something abt this Icon4s and his way of analyzing football and making predictions.

Go back and recall how he said our U20 were nt likely to win the WC. I was one of those hu almost insulted him for that. grin He predicted our Super Falcons should celebrate if they win 1pt from their WC grp of which they only celebrated that 3-3 draw against Sweden. He predicted the Amuneke Eaglets were favorites to win d U17 even though dey finished 4th in Africa. I remember how he stood for the Team after they lost 1-2 to Croatia. I also remember how he wroteoff South Africa in that tourney for lack of "pedigree" even though they finished 2nd in Africa; and predicted teams likely to do Africa proud as any of Nigeria, Mali and Guinea. He also predicted Nigeria to scale through the grp stage of the CAF U23, though he didn't predict we would win the tourney.

So let me ask you sir how far do you think these Falconets team will go?

His name is Uche Agbo and not Ugbo. He played at the 2013 FIFA U20 WC alongside Ajagun, Madu, Ndidi and co. He is not even a regular for Granada. He had been with Granada even before playing at that U20 of which he was nt even a starter. I consider his career development as slow. He would not make my Olympic team squad list.

Did you roll out those attributes of Ajagun based on his performance at U20 or you have been following him at his Greek Club? Where do you watch the Greek league? Youtube highlights mayb which may jst be 2-5mins videos.
The Ajagun that I know is the Ajagun of 2013 FIFA U20 WC. Ever since I have only watched 1 or 2 highlights of him scoring for his Club.
I am a Fan of the EPL so I watch Iheanacho and Iwobi almost every week. I have come to understand the capabilities of those 2 players and how best to maximize their potentials.

I dnt know Ajagun's current game level so I cannot stick my neck out and say anything for him. Let Siasia invite him to the U23 Camp for him to prove his worth.

I tire for forgiveness. He believes it is only players in Europe that deserve to play for the national teams. Uche Agbo wey get permanent spot for Granada bench. Next thing na to shout lets invite him before Spain or Holland caps him

If Coach Siasia decides to go 4-4-2, then Nacho becomes an important player in the squad. He will attack and not bench. If Coach Siasia goes 4-5-1, Nacho benches, then I say we drop him to continue working with Guardiola to make a regular place in City.

In other words, Siasia must play 4-4-2 just so that Nacho must play. And you say this is not sentiments?

I think a 4-4-2 option will suit the team. With Nacho and Success up front. This will consist of two guys with electrifying finishing instinct. (Chikatara also has this but I feel these two are sharper than him in the box)

However, the midfield will suffer because we will play Azubuike behind Iwobi, leaving Matthew on the bench.

Simon will play on the left.

Who do you think will be our best right wing player?

The bolded I doubt will take place. Ighalo would be Siasia's preferred CF option. You think a 4-4-2 formation would suite the team because of Iheanacho. Rather than u playing Iheanacho to suite the Team u are setting up the team to suite Iheanacho. That is what I see. If u say Iheanacho is a striker and practices as a striker in Training at City then he should be ready to sit on the bench in Rio.

True talk bro. With the 3 goalies added to ur list that makes an 18-man squad already. Remember there are still good players like Udochukwu Anumudu, Orji Okonkwo, Kingsley Michael, Zakari Hilaru among others. There are still some that will join from the local league. That team will storm the world. Most of them have already signed professional contracts both in Europe and in Nigeria and already gathering plenty of experience. Imagine what Kelechi Nwakali and Samuel Chukwueze would have turned out to be by then after playing with the Arsenal youth teams. This was the point I was trying to make with the 2015 Flying Eagles; they were mostly Nigerian academy players and were lacking in experience. The 2017 U20 is expected to be far better. Lets discuss more of this at the U20 thread. wink

At bolded, bros I understand. Na talk dey lead to talk. There is no way I would have wanted to make that point and go straight to the U20 thread to make it. U mentioned Awaziem as being U20 na so I yan the matter wey dey my mind. I understand, u no want make our class prefect/thread 'mode' or 'mod' flog anybody for here today abi? grin

Parting shot: You forgot to add Ebere Osinachi, Edidiong Essien and Chinedu Madueke; they also are descent players. (Runs away looking out for the 'thread prefect')

Chidozie Awaziem, born on 1st January 1997 is eligible to play in the next U20 which is meant for players born on or after 1st January 1997. The competition at the U23level is so much that even Chidera Ezeh would nt not b sure of a call up.

That next U20 Team na wa o. With Musa Yahaya, Ifeanyi Mathew, Taiwo Awoniyi, Azubuike Okechukwu, Sadiq Umar, Sincere Seth, Zaharadeen Bello, Chidera Ezeh plus Chidozie Awaziem all fully established pros now joining forces with the Amuneke boys like Kelechi Nwakali, Victor Osimhen, Samuel Chukwueze, John Lazarus, Funsho Bangboye, David Enogela and co. Cant wait to watch this team play! cool

I agree to some extent with Lexyman, particularly on Chikatara being injury prone. He shone like a million stars at the commencement up to the middle of 2013/2014 NPFL season. Injury hit him and he never recovered that form until his heroics against Niger. When fully in form Chisom Chikatara can wreck havoc against any defense. He is a kind of player that scores impossible goals even from the tightest of angles and slimmest of chances. I follow the NPFL wella so I know him very well. He is supposed to make a move to Kano Pillars from Abia warriors when the League commences. Hey! but if the guy venture scores again in his next match, even if it is jst one goal, na "Europe tins" be that.

@ Forgiveness, the guy is good enough to be invited for the U23. Apart from his goal scoring prowess he already has the physique and stamina to compete with the U23s better than some of the 18yrs old we have in mind(partly what affected Awoniyi and Osimhen at CAF U23). He, Chikatara, would be 22 during the Olympics. And I have always maintained that fielding too many under-aged players in age competitions has it's negative tolls on a team. An ideal U23 Team should have at least 80% of the team being 21 to 23. Exceptionally talented 19 and 20 years olds may also be selected. Let the 18yrs olds feature for the U20s.

We always learnt from History; so I like going back memory lane .Take a look at the ages of the all conquering 1996 Olympics team as at when the Olympics was being played:

1 GK Emmanuel Babayaro (aged 19)

2 DF Celestine Babayaro (aged 18)

3 DF Taribo West (aged 22)

4 FW Nwankwo Kanu 1976 (aged 20)

5 DF Uche Okechukwu (aged 28) -over-aged player

6 MF Emmanuel Amuneke (aged 25) -over-aged player

7 MF Tijani Babangida (aged 22)

8 MF Wilson Oruma (aged 20)

9 MF Teslim Fatusi (aged 18)

10 MF Jay-Jay Okocha (aged 23)

11 FW Victor Ikpeba (aged 23)

12 DF Abiodun Obafemi (aged 22)

13 FW Garba Lawal (aged 22)

14 FW Daniel Amokachi (aged 23) Was to turn 24 later that yr, so overaged.

15 MF Sunday Oliseh (aged 21)

16 DF Kingsley Obiekwu (aged 21)

17 DF Mobi Oparaku (aged 19)

18 GK Dosu Joseph (aged 19)

The 19 and 20 yrs olds in that team (including 18yrs old Babayaro) u would observe were mostly the 1993 U17 graduates who u and I know were doing exceptionally well in Europe at that time. And those players can be likened to the likes of Awoniyi, Iheanacho and Success of the 2013 Eaglets. The 1993 U20 produced a lot of the 22 and 23 years olds (even though that team crashed out at the grp stage of the AYC).J-J Okocha, Taribo West, Tijani Babangida, Abiodun Obafemi and a host of others were members of that U20 Team

In my opinion Siasia should invite a lot more of the 2013 Flying Eagles to the current Olympic team. Not jst bc they would be mostly 22 and 23 yrs old during the Olympics bt also that team paraded a good number of talented players most of whom have been playing professional football in Europe and some featuring in UEFA Competitions already. These guys have gathered tremendous experience to compete at this level. See some of them:

Wilfred Ndidi
Kingsley Madu
Abdulahi Shehu
Johnbosco Amaefule
Aminu Umar
Michael Olaitan
Olanrewaju Kayode
Christian Pyagbara
Chidi Osuchukwu
Edafe Egbedi
Abdul Ajagun
Emem Eduok
Uche Agbo
Moses Simon

From this crop, only Johnbosco Amaefule and Aminu Umar have featured for the Olympic team thus far. Wilfred Ndidi, Kingsley Madu, Abdulahi Shehu, and Moses Simon have already featured for the Super Eagles of which 3 or all 4 can easily get a starting place in the Olympics team. Michael Olaitan and Abdul Ajagun are also fantastic players that are worthy of Olympics invites. Uche Agbo plays for Granada along with Isaac Success.

Olympics football is jst next to senior team football. Our team should comprise of players that have jst broken into the Super Eagles our are jst abt to beak in. That was what helped us in 1996.

Siasia is such a lucky coach with the abundance of talented players Nigeria currently has both in Europe and in the NPFL. He has no excuse not to get at least to the semis of the Olympics games.

Spot-on Sir. A good number of peeps here don't appreciate that crop of 2013 U210 hu should ideally form d nucleus of the 2016 U23 bc they only seriously started following our youths football after the exploits of Iheanacho and co.
The 2005 U20 formed the nucleus of the 2008 U23 jst as u rightly pointed that the 1993 U20 formed the nucleus of the 1996 U23. That is the progression we have been talking abt and have been wanting to see.

it is not 'mode' it is mod.

Why don't you learn how to spell before spewing trash up and down.

Icon4s leave the fool that I wasn't talking to. I posted something and this castrated he-goat quoted me to form learner. oloiburuku oshi. If you disagreed, you should have ignored like anyone with half a brain, but you jump to quote so that we'll know you exist on the thread.

We Don see you finish. Learner.

I coke here to read news on the U23 team, which is what this thread was created for. Any news thaybia not about the Olympic team should not be here and if you're too retarded to get that, feel free to use the likes you get to buy a brain.

See Olanna, I dnt need to exchange words with you because I dnt insult ladies.
What is wrong with using "mode" for the shortened form of moderator?
And what language or dialect is this your word "thaybia". And you "coke" here to read news. You better correct yourself before correcting others.
Since the Olympic team is not in camp and there is no Olympic tournament on-going, the best thing is to leave the thread until the Olympics? Those things you are posting about Iheanacho are even Mancity news and not Olympic team news.

You are such a trouble maker that cannot make comments without insulting people. I may not have been one of the page movers here but I have been following this thread including the one of U17, U20 and Super Eagles. There is hardly any1 u have not quarreled with.
This ur attitude as a Lady will not do you any good my sister.
