DeCleff:no mind them, i understand that we as a people have been raped by our leaders over the years but it does'nt mean we should'nt be patient with a leader everyone thinks is trying his best to make a change.Yes amaechi can be very arrogant but the truth is i have not seen a leader in this state who really wanted to make a change like this man wants to,Lets be patient with him, |

the Rivers State Government in conjunction with SBT Juul Africa, will develop the US$150 million (€109 million) Retail Mixed-Use Park/Centre. This new development is called Monte@Rivers and will be developed in the Omagwa Area of the New City in Great Port Harcourt City. Monte@Rivers will borrow elements from a traditional Tuscany village, where shoppers and visitors will be emotionally and psychologically transported to Italy. For diners, a unique experience will be offered with fine restaurants and seating spilling over onto the streets. It will comprise purpose-built office blocks, retail and shopping malls, entertainment halls, a luxury hotel, a conference and events centre with a wedding chapel, additional religious gathering rooms, conference and banqueting facilities. The project also involves a multi-purpose piazza which could feature exhibitions and expos and a secured parking area, cinemas, theatres and game arcades, an amphitheatre and adventure activity such as rock climbing walls, bowling, water-world and funfair rides. www.youtube.com/watch?v=zRF87eLxyYE |
COMPAQ:i agree that the monorail IS unecessary especially when are roads are still bad but its already started.it is a PPP arrangement but the private partners seem to having problems coming up with their own cash. The entertainment centre is not "entertainment" as such.its like an IT park and its solely to help development shift to GPH. Johndoe100:sometimes when we argue we should be fair. What do you suggest he should do to help them?lap them and feed them?the songhai farms at ogoni, who are they meant to help?the health centres and schools in these communities, who are they for? |
otokx:not a bad move at all, when i first started work after leaving school, i and a couple of my colleagues used to do 'isusu'(cooperative), maybe 70k/month from everyone for one person, and it helped with major projects each of us wanted to do.i believe this bond will help turn the WHITE elephant projects into realities ONLY IF the funds are used well (hopefully), otokz, the portharcourt ring road was initially valued at 1billion dollars before the cash crunch pushed it up to 2billion.lets say its currently valued at 1billion(150billion naira), that leaves 100billion out of the 250 for the other projects, 1.the M10 highway, and infrastructure at the new UST. Yes, he's supposedly saving a billion a month.from the inception of this administration,he should have saved about 50billion naira which is the exact cost of the monorail and apparently the state will end up funding the whole thing since the private part of this arrangement is foot dragging, These are major projects that will help move development from PH as it is, everybody wants to be in PH city, why wont our roads breakdown and infrastructure overstretch.it is high time PH changes from its city-state status and these projects IMO will go a long way in achieving that, |
StarBoard:grow a brain first, then we can start from there, i am done with you! |

Bensonite:1.the public procurement law is stupid if you ask me 2.the Private partner in this whole monorail thing apparently developed cold feet 3.That new university makes ABSOLUTELY no sense. |
By George Onah Port Harcourt — Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State has said his administration plans to issue N250 billion bond at the capital market to fund major developmental projects. A statement by spokesman for the Rivers State governor, Mr. David Iyofor, said the bond would be tied to funding of specific projects, such as the Greater Port Harcourt City, the Port Harcourt Monorail project, the new Rivers State University of Science and Technology Phase 1. It would also fund Monte@Rivers (an entertainment complex), the Port Harcourt Ring Road(that would connect the old city and Greater Port Harcourt) and a new M-10 Highway (a beltway that would link the Port Harcourt International Airport to the Onne Sea port). Iyofor explained that “such gigantic projects would need immediate and massive funds injection to complete them. Hence, Rivers State plans to approach the capital market in October, 2011 to raise these funds. “Already the state House of Assembly has given the nod for the governor to go ahead and obtain the bond as such projects cannot be accomplished by sheer reliance on federal allocation and internally generated revenue that comes in trickles.” Giving details, Commissioner for Finance, Dr. Chamberlain Peterside said:“These long term capital projects that are capable of catalyzing the industrialisation and transformation of Rivers State require massive financial investment that can only be obtained from the capital market. “The proposed size of the first tranche of the bond will be about N100 billion with five years tenure, whereas the total bond programme of N250 billion is envisaged over the next several months.” Peterside said. According to him, “Whilst energy prices remain relatively high on the world market in an atmosphere of somewhat low to moderate interest rate, Rivers State would benefit from a bond issue at this stage through leveraging its high income potential and favourable credit rating, coupled with a debt portfolio that is currently low at less than 30 billion naira.” “The economic indicators of the state, including annual Gross Domestic Product of about 30 trillion naira compared to its debt stock are positive attributes that Rivers State can ride on to raise additional funds to finance its long term development agenda and fast track social and economic growth. for those who cant read and comprehend, |
StarBoard:stop typing nonsense, if you have a personal problem with amaechi try and settle it with him, You do not live in PH and you are here crying more than the bereaved, |
Ibime has the state issued a bond before? |
