AkinEgba: What's going for Ibadan is its huge population. Thus, it is easy out of that huge population to find a sizable medium class. Still those decrepit brown roofs that strut its landscape is a clear sign of poverty. I was born in Ibadan and raised there substantially. I know every bit of it.whatever the reason is,fact is,there is a sizeable middle class in Ibadan and they are ready to spend. you must realize that many of them have businesses in Lagos, while their families are in Ibadan. THEY SPEND IN IBADAN,WHAT THEY MAKE IN LAGOS. many of them still prefer the serenity of Ibadan relative to Lagos. |
....and for those who look down on Ibadan, especially my Eastern brothers, think again. I repeat, despite the brown rusted roofs, the consumer spending in that city is something else. this is from personal experience. sharp investors are already positioning themselves. |
AkinEgba: Can anyone interpret this for me? It means that an average person in PH and Aba lives a more comfortable life than an average person in Lagos.but when I said the same thing on this forum some time ago, they wanted to crucify me. Lagos is the richest state but its population makes nonsense of that wealth. the extremes ,very rich and very poor are very evident in Lagos. in PH,wealth is actually more evenly distributed. in Lagos, you are more likely to pick a random person on the street who doesn't have five naira to his name... ![]() |
abagworo....its the real estate part of his post that got me laughing. which real estate boom is he talking about? Enugu is a civil service town with lots of hotels catering to people who make their money outside and come into Enugu to rest. apart from Nike lake resort, where else is tourism based in Enugu? |
maestroferddi: Parochial because your sole index of urban expansion/development is the presence of oil companies. On the other hand, Enugu is built for tourism. It has a booming real estate sub-sector unlike PH that is experiencing one of the most serious real estate crisis in among African cities.this has got to be a joke.... ![]() |
berem: do you have any idea if Okigwe water board is functioning?not sure but if it is,I would be surprised. |
berem: this is a very common method of getting and storing water in Orlu. My father's house has a 20ft underground tank which he built for storing rain water and it supplies to the whole house and the water lasts till the next rainy season. I can count how many people that have boreholes in Orlu and most drilled boreholes are build by extremely rich people and are extended for commercial purposes.honestly I wish we had done this from the very beginning. wouldn't have wasted money and also had peace if mind. after all how long does one stay at home most times? at the most two weeks during the really busy Easter/Christmas periods. anything in between is at the most one week. |
Unemadu: To be frank i don't know if portharcourt has started expanding because that was the one thing that kept ringing in my head during my last visit EXPANSION.my brother, the expansion in PH is probably the fastest in the country. its expanding in 2 directions. northward and south east ward. almost a decade ago,rumuokoro/ rumuagholu was referred to as outskirts. its not so today. development has torn through rumuokoro into rupuokwu and is merging quickly with igwuruta/omagwa . people are buying up land around the airport pretty quickly. amaechis greater PH is not helping matters. already, the new stadium and airport are already forming a nidus or magnet for development. ikwerre LGA is feeling the pressure.in another decade, ubima, isiokpo and other towns in ikwerre LGA will start accommodating development. the boundary between IMO and rivers will become quite hazy with time. emohua people are already getting pressure to start selling land to outsiders. uni port/UPTH are already acting as magnets in that direction with the NTA/CHOBA road taking traffic from there right into PH. right now the eleme area is probably the hottest because of the refinery, onne and notore . amaechi has channeled efforts to that area because housing estates are springing up there. in fact PH is busting at its seams BUT the development is haphazard and unregulated. the only areas that are not witnessing this expansion are the kalabari areas and that's because the water bodies don't allow it. |
berem: I think its because of the topography of Owerri is different from other parts of Imo state.exactly. we spent close to 2 million to do the same at my place. the thing ended up collapsing. I felt like dying. finally settled for an underground tank which fills up when it rains, pumped to an overhead tank and distributed to the house. our topography is something else. |
Leopantro: i could be wrong but the agreement was that anyone can be a consultant. however, if you want to utilize the title in a hospital, you must be registered with MDCAN.not MDCAN but the person must possess an MDCN license. what else does it mean? |
maestroferddi: That dude was doing some cheap comic strip. There are no red soil sand in Owerri and Orlu axes of Imo State. You begin to see red sand as you go northerly towards Okigwe...how can you say there's no red soil in orlu? |
Unemadu: i know and everyone knows PH and Enugu aren't mates.I agree on the beauty and serenity of Enugu. but do you think those attributes will still remain if they had the population of PH both human and vehicular? I don't think so. |
maestroferddi: Port Harcourt begins and ends with Aba Road, almost nothing impressive elsewhere...don't say what you don't know. do we judge a city by only its highways? what of its different districts/ settlements and how self sufficient they are. that's what makes a city. I live in rumuokoro. I have not been to PH town in over a year. I have banks, schools, markets and churches around me. I know people who have not left oyigbo for a year + |
berem: the texture of soil in Owerri and Enugu is never the same. Even Orlu and Owerri doesn't have the same soil texture. The red earth stains on buildings and roads can be seen in Orlu but you can't see it in Owerri.very true! even my hometown in ehime has natural red soil but I can't find the same in owerri. |
Unemadu: Pls do. U won't understand how ashamed i am of PH as if its my own city. I just wanted a city to rival or best lagos but alas....please go and sit down. do not put PH and Enugu on the same pedestal, talk more of PH and uyo. abagworo has said it and I repeat. abuja and Lagos are ahead of PH. No other city comes close amaechi is trying hard to bridge a little of the infrastructural gap between lag and PH. yes PH is one big conglomeration of ikwerre villages BUT that village/slum look is gradually fading. ikwerre settlements in the heart of PH like orazi/rumuola, rumuigbo, rumuomasi are changing so fast you can't recognise them. rumuola of 94/95 looks like rumuagholu of today. rumuola has shops and salons along its full stretch. the family compounds hidden behind those boutiques are also experiencing gradual make overs. . |
I am surprised at the situation the OP is trying to pass of benin-ore road as. that's false and because you are opposition doesn't mean you have to be downright mischievous in your criticisms honestly. |
mogentle: Are you allright? What concerns Aregbe with Opebi-Allen Road?was he not commissioner of works in Lagos at a certain time? |
Kasynpaulsyn1997: do you know what city planning means? Uyo is well planned! Enugu is frickingly shit! Have u heard of ibom plaza? Oh my...........everything about uyo is cool! And when it comes to housing uyo can boast of many housing estates........ ...... you really are a child.on the contrary, uyo is not as planned as Enugu. forget the shiny roads and flyovers in uyo. uyo CANNOT hold a candle to cities like Enugu or Ibadan. I bet if you go to Ibadan, you will open a thread for it to complain. almost all major cities in Nigeria have a master plan. the problem is that those plans are not being adhered to. they all have areas where their respective master plans were derailed. for instance PH had a master plan that was adhered to up till around the agip/mile 4 area. woji was planned. DLine was planned. diobu was planned.the main PH town, elekahia, old GRA were all planned. Lagos back in the 60s/70s had well defined residential areas and industrial areas. you would never have a factory sited in residential Lagos unlike what happens now. uyo is a relatively new city and is not planned as the aforementioned |
OP please leave Enugu and face why you are there. I lived in Enugu for about a decade and it still remains one of the few Nigerian cities that still adhere to their master plan. in fact as per planning, good and wide roads and beauty,Enugu is not far behind ABUJA. it is so serene, that if you visit, you will not leave in a hurry. you can't judge Enugu by just ogbete, gariki, asata or obiagu. visit I.L trans ekulu, new haven etc Achara layout is planned like D-line in PH(if you know PH) with a grid like pattern of the inner roads. uyo cannot compare to cities like Enugu or ibadan in anyway. maybe as you grow older you will begin to appreciate development by Nigerian standards. good luck in your post utme. by the way, this one that you have time to open a thread,I hope you are not depending on ' microchips' to see you through? ![]() |
our ladies should begin to take their health seriously. for the younger women reading this who at risk of cervical cancer, please, endeavor to take the vaccine. it is available. instead of wasting money on Brazilian hair, fake eyelashes and bleaching cream, use your money and get vaccinated against cervical cancer. it is worth it. ask any good OBGYN specialist. its everywhere now especially in Lagos,PH and abuja. get to the hospital immediately an abnormal v.aginal bleeding is noted. try and do b.reast ultrasound scans monthly to catch lumps and cancers on time.those above 45yrs in addition can do a mammography. pelvic and trabsvaginal scans should also be a routine. at least every two months. the men are not left out. symptoms of lower urinary symptoms in man above 40yrs should push you to the hospital to get your prostate checked out. let's take our health seriously. |
endometrial CA didn't she have post menopausal bleeding ![]() if it had been caught early and a TAH-BSO done on time, she would be with us today. it is well. |
29 states voted for continuation of the strike. the other 7 states had outgoing chairmen who could afford to be bribed just because they were leaving office in a few days but thankgod the NMA chairmanship in those states have been swept up by NARD. for the first time in the history of NMA, radical resident doctors are heading the NMA in many states. consultants are being pushed to the background. meanwhile in other news,NARD rising from their NEC in Enugu, have released a communiqué, vowing to continue the strike if NMA suspends its strike. so even if NMA calls off, NARD will continue. remember both strikes were called a day apart and have been running concurrently ever since. n/b: it appears the nonremunerative demands have all been met by govt. the monetary issues seem to be what's still holding the strike. |
......... abagworo,how old is that picture? |
I am really impressed with dangote. more investors will come in because our demand for rice is just crazy. we have no business importing rice especially when we produce one of the tastiest in the world. dangote is really expanding and I won't be surprised to wake up one morning and hear he wants to go into garri processing on a very large scale. |
RayMcBlue: Who told you Homeland's over? The show got renewed for the 4th season a while ago, and will be resuming with the 4th installment next season.interesting. didn't know that |
extant @jadewilliam....homeland ran for just 3 seasons and ended. |
berem: you're very very very stoopid!why are you replying him? ignore such people. |
meforyou1: did she use your MB for the posts? or have u forgotten that we had 4 days' break?clap for yourself. you have arrived..... ![]() |
rumours......can someone please confirm. |
Demdem: Is chime ahead of Akpabio or Fashola ?definitely not. BUT when you put revenue side by side with what's on ground, akpabio vs chime becomes highly debatable. |
Demdem:chime has done well BUT its too early to judge obiano. 6/10 for him is not fair |
