........na wa o!! they have fired all of us yet e never do una.you still view that action with suspicion. make una relax a beg. the hospitals are now yours. you should be jubilating..... ![]() |
these your questions are too cerebral for the average Nigerian. simplify it a bit. |
Samgreguc: Phantom sheay those with private hospital say them go close down abi? Hmmmm! No let them decieve u o...Sammie, a beg leave matter. if you people have not realised that anyway this drama ends, the doctors can't lose then you don't see very far. the truth is Jonathan is like a carpenter with only a hammer. he sees a nail in every problem but no worry,NMA go clear im doubt..... ![]() |
ebosse: . ......... oga , there are some cancers that are very occult. they creep up on you. don't argue out of sentiments and emotions. get the full gist before you argue please. |
Gaggi: How many of you can even manage the renal issue? India is our saving grace in this country. Our doctors have sent many people to the grave by diagnosing kidney disease as malaria.do you know what a dialysis machine is?? find out how many we have in the country then get back to me. |
eaglechild:you dey mind the jester. pharmacists and chemists make more impact than doctors and it doesnt give him cause for concern. nigerians run tests at will in the labs and ask the chemists to "MIX" drugs for them. effectively they have become their own doctors... ![]() its exactly what happened to a man who we saw in the teaching hospital, acutely ill. i scanned and discovered his kidneys were gone. totally fibrotic. of course we dug deeper only to find out that he recieved a certain IV drug from a nurse(in a bid to avoid the doctor) in his neirgbourhood for 5-6days. when he presented to us,he was almost dead. when we told the wife that the IV drug most likely packed up his kidneys, she threw herself on the floor wailing. but it was already too late. i know of women who have ruptured their wombs because quacks had allowed them labour endlessly where v.aginal delivery was impossible. of course these women go through this with support from their pastors who declare the doctors "mere mortals" and encourage these women to deliver like the "hebrew women". we see these everyday.people who have become too smart even for themselves and end up in trouble. this scenerio plays out in front of us daily. majority of nigerians are illiterate and poor and are "destined" to toe the dangerous paths i outlined above. they have embraced every single person out there except the only person who truly can help them....the doctor! |
this is a post from a nairalander who lost his dad,a soldier in the north to boko haram. RIP to the gallant soldier He called me some weeks back and was complaining about the poor and inadequate amunition given to them, in Liberia and Sierra Leone was more than enough bullets for them to fight with but here they are given 30 to 60 bullets each day. The current Commander in Chief, GEJ is not helping the nation, just 45 solidiers engaged 300 insurgents in a fiearce gun battle for 2 whole hours yet no land or air backup. The soldiers fought till they ran out of bullets yet didnt run away but chose to die, this country is not worth dying for. https://www.nairaland.com/1859120/nigeria-army-hero-father-gone |

ebosse: A Nigerian Doctor told a fam of mine he had diabetes meanwhile he *HAD* cancer. May his soul R.I.P.my brother,is it also possible that the man had diabetes IN ADDITION TO OR COEXISTING WITH cancer ![]() |
Exodus2k: NMA have over abuse strike as a resort to achieve their cheap purpose, those saying that the masses will suffer failed to know that the masses don't have sympathy for NMA again, they are not the only govt employee but are set of selfish people neglecting the poor masses whom they take oat to serve. FG should take any action deem feat for the nation because all lives are precious....and who bloody cares abut your sympathy. i ve said it many times that the doctors do not give a rats a*** about your sympathy.swallow it! most of you here ranting have doctors you all call on phone when ill. these same doctors you are crucifying will still answer those phone calls and even tell you what drugs to take FREE OF CHARGE! please name another group of professionals that will give you free consultations. is it the lawyers ![]() is it the engineers ![]() is it lecturers ![]() na wa o! |
MrsAwesome: Laugh it out but your trainer, sponsor, employer deserve respect and a great deal of it. If it is not forthcoming they will suspend you and spell out another term of contract. It is their term and you must abide by it or you quit and wait your residency turn in a private facilities which we have limited number of in Nigeria. ...watch how this drama ends! NMA has not even started. |
MDCAN (association of consultants)has reacted. i guess the FG will look for locum consultants too... ![]()

Chigold101: Pussyeater i dont know how ur brain works but lets look at it this way. If ebola is gotn from bush meat as claimed by that evil nation of urs USA. Why was ebola not killing our for fathers? Apart from zaire & sudan in the 70s, malaysia in the 80s & ivory coast in 1994 tell me that country and that year where ebola killed people prior to 2014. ......kai see Nigerians and reasoning. |
MrsAwesome: Nurses tried these line of loggerheads with government in 1985 and they have CHEWS to contend with. I foresee a creation or role expansion of other professionals in no distance. This is the time for alternatives and by joves Nigerian government must have had a lot of it to embark on these chaos. residency training on the terms of government? please don't make me laugh. tell your president he had shot himself on the foot. this path has been toed before by the military. what happened after? what were the consequences? history is there for you. |
I don't know about the laws establishing the medical and dental council of Nigeria BUT if they can be controlled by the NMA, the next logical step might be a due accreditation of all medical schools. doctors who take up locum appointments may also have either their licences revoked or their names struck of the doctors register. |
Mrfemi1: so this one sef na Doctordon't worry. reading his post and your reply its obvious who the crazy one is.... . |
.......as usual Nigerians miss the point entirely and have gone on with their conspiracy theories. I weep for my country! |
likita27: hey, I was referring to the above poster,Reagan was US president btwo 1981 and 1989 and succeeded the first Geoge Bush, his former vp,seems English is too hard for you to comprehendplease relax...I was refering to the person you quoted not you. |
aztruth: do you know how many patients have died because öf NMA strike? Nma strike is not a blessing in disguise like you are trying to nail.yes!!!! doctors are also in charge of failing education and security abi? or will you also blame those ones on lecturers/teachers and police/soldiers? use your head. none of you here have actually asked to know the true position of things. you believe everything hook line and sinker from the FG. the same people claiming to take care of Ebola victims only for the affected to say otherwise.the same people that let lectures and students sit at home for a good 6months!!! asup lecturers,1year! if govt has agreed to all demands, why is nma still on strike?? |
ejiykzazi2007: And all these u mentioned hv not happened for over a month u hv sat at home doing nothing?stop gloating stupidly! where were you when NMA went out enmasse defying their strike to attend to bomb victims in kano and kaduna? a thread was opened here to support that move but you shameless nigerians avoided it like a plague all because you all were too proud to acknowledge that show of sympathy by NMA. your govt has not done anything to combat ebola. where are the HAZMAT SUITS ? 20 suits for the whole of lagos and 1000 suits for your idiotic leaders and their cronies in abuja. what is abuja doing with 1000 hazmat suits now even when a single case has not been recorded?? so that your criminally minded president and his family, senators, reps, ministers and their cronies can continue to loot while wearing our hazmat suits. funny country with funny people. if you nigerians think the doctors will sacrifice themselves for you,you are on a long thing... ask your government to guarantee our protection and that of our families then we can start from there BUT if you think doctors are going to put their lives on the line for a government that has not deeemed it fit to honour people like samuel okwaraji 25 years after, you guys are joking. |
barcanista: Your fad@ is a very big foolbarcanista you are more mature than this. be guided! |
For the ignorant members of the populace gloating over this mass sack of Doctors, let me explain to you what just happened. Lets just take a simple contraption and super-impose it on the medical hierarchy so you will appreciate the fact that your President has taken the health sector on a final journey to Golgotha: Now you know Doctors have hierarchy all over the World, imagine the world of Medicine to be the educational sector where the top Doctors are graduates (the Consultants and Professors).....,and the Medical Students are still in Kindergaten, what that means is those in Primary and Secondary Schools will be the Resident Doctors, those whom GEJ just fired. Note that for a kindergarten to become a graduate, he has to pass through Primary and Secondary School, this is a necessary link. What our President has just done is to severe that link in Medicine. Imagine a country with University graduates that all of a sudden stopped Primary and Secondary education nationwide. That link in medicine, depending on the specialty is between 5-8 years long, sometimes even more. In essence, the Post Graduate Medical Training in Nigeria is officially dead. When these Consultants retire, there will be NOBODY to replace them, and after Medical students graduate, they CANNOT specialise. When you fall ill with certain kinds of ailments that require specialist input, YOU WILL BE DONE FOR. Its just a matter of time. But even now, there are still dire consequences. These Resident Doctors just sacked (16,000 of them) carry many skills that those below them (the house officers) do not have, skills that those above them (the Consultants) have forgotten and may not perform proficiently or even at all. It will be practically impossible to replace these set of Doctors. The immediate consequences of this deficiency should the hospitals resume would be very obvious. The chain of command will be broken because a vital part of that chain is lost, and morale will even fall lower. So....,keep your gloating to your-self. Your dear President has just scored an own goal. |

Sweetlemon: The Genesis does not matter as of now. What matters now is that unfortunately, ebola is here and we have no choice but the tackle it head on.he has no answer to this I can bet you |
let me break it down for Nigerians to understand.... suspending medical training means halting the 'production' of consultants. consequently, the following will no longer be available; obstetricians/gynaecologists surgeons - orthopaedic, general, urology, paediatric,ENT,cardiovascular, nuerosurgery, trauma. physicians-paediatricians,adult physicians radiologists pathologists-haematologists,chemical pathologists, micro biologists, dermatologists dentists you name it...so in effect Nigerians will be burdened with doctors fresh out of school who enter the civil service as medical officers and retire as medical officers. serious specialist cases will end up at the private hospitals or in hospitals abroad. |
Nuzo1: Doc P, I think we are saying the same thing.please list the ridiculous demands. |
osi2345: FG didt sack Strikin docs, dats not correct. Accordin to dat letter, FG sacked all residents docs. Residency is a trainin prog for doc to become specialists( consultants) it's jst like a Masters and PhD to become a Dr./prof eventually. Dis prog is sponsored by d FG, so d gov has suspended d prog and sacked all d residents. Consultants, Medical officers, house officers still hav deir jobs.exactly!!!! and specialization is the bedrock of modern medicine. maybe when our babies start falling ill with funny disorders and we can't find paediatricians let alone neonatologists, then they will understand. |
Nuzo1: Not always the case, at least in the Nigerian medical system.nuzo.... you have always been a mature poster but saying most doctors are incompetent is a bare face lie! on the contrary, the little 'function' in the health sector today is BECAUSE of the doctors believe it or not. nuzo,I don't think you and many Nigerians here know how bad things have really gone in the health sector. if you knew, YOU WOULD WEEP. zero equipment and training. doctors try any which way to diagnose illnesses solely on our clinical skills. thank god,by virtue of our training,we have a pretty good idea of a diagnosis just using our clinical skills. these days medicine has advanced. machines are needed to help us give far more to our patients but your government has refused to equip the hospitals. for how long are we going to continue like this? but the more painful thing is that our people are illiterate and on top of that poor. they can't fight for themselves. this strike whether you want to believe it or not is for them and not us. out of the 24 demands, the money based demands are not more than 5. |
DrLuv: odehe's being sarcastic. |
Nuzo1: How many people said they are quacks? They are just mostly disrespectful and reeks of high level of superiority complex with gross disregard for their patients and other colleagues in the medical sector.when people point at someone with a superiority complex, check well, they almost always have an inferiority complex. where were you when doctors came out in masse inspite of the strike to attend to victims of the bombings in kano and Kaduna? |
likita27: dunce like you, Reagan was president of US. in 68,olodo, get a grip of the situation before opening your mouth exposing your ignorancethese are the Nigerians we expect to understand the issues in the health sector? whosai ![]() Reagan was president in 1968. dumb Nigerians. how can they fight their leaders with their negative sub zero IQs? so dumb that these i.diots will vote in that invalid AGAIN in 2015. zombies! |
