Odunu am not blaming the pdp, am blaming the national security adviser who has been in charge of national security and 7 bomb blasts no preventive measures. He is too busy worrying about jonathans reelection to do his job. What his business with our phones or if we wait to see our votes counted? The same person shouting down Jega and calling Jega a failure seems incapable of doing his job. He earns a salary he should do his job
Do you honestly think it is easy to fight crime anywhere in the world and do you think the work of a security chief is that easy to do that you have to compare it with that of the INEC's Job. Have they been able to solve all the crime in united states, do you see what is happening in Mexico because they want to fight the drug mafia. Columbia is there to show you when they tried to fight the drug mafia as well.

Sister with all honesty i am not exonerating the security chiefs but if we don't tackle the root cause of our problems then we are going no where with security issues in this country. We have not even moved beyond the question of why and we want to solve how. Tackle the security of why first because now we are jumping to how to solve bomb blast in the country. Why should there be bombings in Nigeria because i live in a country where there has not been a bomb blast ever since i was here.

Let us start asking ourselves sincere questions because when you do the right thing then we would have solve half of our problems. When i was a little boy we used to leave our doors open in the village and nobody even needs to fence their houses. Now we even live behind glorified prisons, please let us tackle the hatred between us as Nigerians then we would have solved half of our security issues. We also need developments both socially and technologically to fight crimes as well.

Odunnu:
You guys are so swift at heaping every misdemeanour on the PDP.
This nation and its security is a collective responsibility.
We have a problem, how do we deal with it? That should be the mindset and not point crooked fingers on PDP at every sour event.
I am tired of Nigerians blaming pdp for everything that's why i mentioned it first because i know they will still come to blame pdp. We are so blinded that we cannot ask soul reaching question anymore because i very much doubt that this is the reason a police investigator will take in trying to resolve this disaster.

I smell sabotage. Corpers will protest and this thing will not hold if care is not taken.
But who is sabotaging this thing and what is their benefits, we must go to the root cause of our problems if not there is danger waiting for us upfront.
Politics › Re: Bomb Explosion In Inec Office At Suleja.niger State by Pharoh: 7:52pm On Apr 08, 2011
This should definitely be the handwork of pdp and goodluck.  huh

may the lost soul rest in peace but it will never be well with those responsible for this evil act.

This is where we should search ourselves as a nation, why do we hate ourselves so much instead of looking for tight security.

I am all in for tight security but we must tackle this problem of hatred for one another because i see no reason why someone will just wake up and blow up his fellow innocent country men.

timbuk two:
Ipsos/ThisDay interviewed 236 people in Lagos state and from their results concluded that 80% of Lagosians will vote for GEJ in the elections.

Nairaland has polled 312 people with 55.1% people voting for Buhari and only 26% people voting GEJ.

Given the state on nigeria's newspapers - as well as the dubious method of conducting the interviews in the ThisDay poll - which poll do you think is the more accurate reflection of Lagosians voting mood?
There is no basis to compare the two please throw this stupid analysis away from our sight.
The 13% derivation shared amongst oil producing states is a different pot of money from that which the FGs, States, and LGs share. The formula for the latter is what Oshiomole is discussing, not the former.

If you want to discuss the former, feel free to create your own thread to do so.

Anyway, I don't see how any right-thinking person can be opposed to his proposal.
Because we want 100% control of our resources and pay taxes to the FG for anything that concerns the whole nation like military and foreign affairs.

I am not in support of him because he wants more shares to the states but i am in support of states generating their own money themselves.

We were surviving for ten years before the civil war without oil so there is nothing special there. There are many countries that do not have oil like Singapore that are far far better than us.

Let every states work for their money and that is how it is going to be. This will never change and anything along that line will be met with stiff resistance.
huh

The same source generating the money that the FG, states, and LGs currently share?

Why are you so puzzled about this simple matter, lol
I am puzzled because i need to ask if that is how the formula is obtainable where you are?.

Why don't we go with the formula used before the civil war? or states are just created to receive money without any possibility of generating something for itself?.

So you support that in a family of four adult male, one should work so that the four of them will share the money when it is more better for the four adults to work and generate money?.

Beaf already answered you and there is no way the formula will be changed to favor other states outside those that generate the money.

Let every fucking states and LGA generate money for itself and pay taxes to the central government.

We can all keep on deceiving ourselves but there is a promise that what will eventually happen in Nigeria will be the worst disaster in the world when the time comes.

We are waiting for unproductive states to come and dip their hands in the oil money, sharing formula my black foot. grin

Politics › National Assembly Election to hold on Saturday: Postponed in some areas by Pharoh(op): 2:53pm On Apr 07, 2011
Update: Just in: President Goodluck Jonathan over rules Jega, to deliver a nationwide address on Thursday morning at 7.am, insists on going ahead with poll.

SAN FRANCISCO, April 06, (THEWILL) – The National Assembly elections rescheduled for Saturday, April 09, 2011, may be a mirage after all.

A source, who was at a high powered ‘secret’ meeting today between INEC Chairman Attahiru Jega, President Goodluck Jonathan and his top advisers has just told THEWILL that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will not be able to conduct Saturday’s National Assembly election.

The source told THEWILL that Professor Jega told a bewildered President Jonathan that the commission is having problems reproducing over 20 million ballots that were used last Saturday before the NASS election was cancelled countrywide.

The issue with the 20 million ballots Jega told the gathering has to do with their serial numbers and reproduction.

Because of this problem coupled with other issues, the source added that Jega told the President that he doubts that the commission would be able to go ahead with the poll as scheduled.

The source added that when asked when he thinks the commission would be able to resolve the issues it is currently battling, “Jega could not give a specific timeline. Infact as I am telling you, there is pandemonium at the Presidency,” the source said.

THEWILL source also said a decision has been taken to postpone the election but no new date has been chosen as delibertations continue.

The preparations for the elections have been marred with difficulties following what Jega attributed to the inability of contractors to deliver electoral materials on time.

The process for the award of contracts to print electoral materials has been a subject of debate since the postponement of the NASS election, with allegations that fronts for Jega and President Goodluck Jonathan Principal Secretary, Hassan Tukur received huge patronage from INEC running into billions of naira.

THEWILL tried to reach Presidency spokesman, Mr Ima Niboro and Chief Press Secretary to Jega, Kayode Idowu for comments but they did not respond to our

When has bribery become a crime in Nigeria when it comes to elections?.  grin

This is how we are going to roll until the country is fixed and this affects every party.

To me this is no news as it is just a picture with some items and we cannot tell the giver or the receiver in this scenario.

^^ No. We are expecting him to show us he can, atleast that isn't too much to ask in a year.
Jega already did that with the voters registration.
You think Jega has tried with almost everyone calling for his head?, well don't worry as the days pass by i am sure you will change your stand.

Goodluck has also shown that he can fix the nation so give him his first authentic term to prove that he can do it. If what Jega did is a pass mark then please why is there condemnation for goodluck?.

This is not even about the postponement of the voting day to Monday but the whole thing has been below par relative to the money that has been expended.

Anyway i wish that everything goes fine and we can move forward with fixing the nation.

This is very good and an opportunity to discuss other matches that threads are not created for like the match with Villarreal today.

I can see the exploits of that Barcelona b team and they even won 2-3 away today but sad that they cannot be promoted. I also hope our castilla team will get promoted too and lets even start with a burning issue in la liga.

What should be done to the money allocations from tv rights because i think the other teams need good funding to perform in the league and especially in Europe. It is sad that Villarreal is the only remaining Spanish team in the Europa league with Valencia, A.Madrid and Sevilla dropping out of Europe at this stage.

Or what exactly is the reason for the below par performance this season.

I don't like when coaches hold clubs to ransom but maybe it is because of the success he has achieved with the club so he might definitely be asking for something. He should really watch his next club because all eyes will be on him to see if he can succeed elsewhere. Pellegrini and co did not find it easy after they left their previous successful stints at Villarreal and Barcelona.

By the way there is no match thread for Villarreal vs Barcelona? undecided

I am not saying people are not going to vote because i am actually referring to this thread in particular. I am sure a presidential or governorship thread would have gone many pages by now and this is even the eve of election. Most people do not know the contestants representing them, i mean even those on ground talk less of peeps on the internet.

I really wish for a comprehensive change where only credible people at all levels will be voted for, councilors, chairmen, governors etc. So that was my point that a thread for the whole national assembly election in all of Nigeria is just two pages is very miserable to me if i want to be frank and that's my point brother. I know that people do know but what we have here on this thread is not encouraging at all.
