Oshiomole and the ACN led government has failed edo state in terms of education and he should resign if he is not competent enough to deliver the mandate anymore.

there was massive failure across the country. besides, NECO is a national body not Edo state. we should blame the PDP led government for the degradation of education for the past 12 years.
Did our education begin to degrade from the past 12 years or beyond that?, ACN is in charge now and they should be blamed or who are you going to blame if the same thing happens for the next three years?.

I can follow your logic that we should not blame PDP but the past military governments that has caused the degredation of education all over the country. undecided

2-0 in the end, an okay performance. They just went there did what they had to do and got the three points. You guys were right, Pep was right to have started Villa. He ended his goal drought and that will boost his confidence going into the classico.
Kudos to Valdes for making that game changing save in the dying minutes of the 1st half. . . I wonder why he isn't Spain's no. 1.
Messi hits goal number 50. I don't think anybody has ever scored these much goals in a single season. Maybe, Mario Jardel but I'll check it out.
Bernabeu. . . let's go there.
Please don't entertain such thoughts anymore, it is not good for your health lol. grin Even reina kept a clean sheet yesterday and made some saves.
Valdez is spain number three and so shall it be until iker and reina retires or must the first eleven come from barcelona? tongue

Education › ACN Led Edo State Records Mass Failure In Neco Exams by Pharoh(op): 10:23pm On Apr 22, 2011
Edo State students have recorded another mass failure in the November/December 2010 NECO examination, results from the National Examinations Council (NECO) has shown.

Out of the 25 subjects taken by students from the state, none of the participating students had up to 50 per cent pass mark in the examination set for graduating secondary school students.

This has raised concern among relevant parties, with teachers and parents trading blames as to who is responsible for the poor academic performances of students in the state.

Those who spoke to NEXT on the development attributed the cause of the mass failure to many factors, including lack of qualified teachers, particularly in private schools, and the premium they place on money. Others include lack of reading culture among the students, and loss of societal values. Owners of private schools were also indicted in the mass failure of students, as many of them have turned their schools to ‘miracle centres’, where students easily indulge in examination malpractices after paying high fees to the school owners.

Solomon Osarenren, who teaches Mathematics in a private school in Benin City, blames lack of seriousness on the part of the students, lazy approach to study, and lack of infrastructure in the schools, as some of the factors responsible for the decline in the performance of the students.

“So long as students attach more importance to mundane things and spend more time surfing the Internet and watching movies, it will be difficult for them to excel in their studies. After all, students of those days performed even better than students of today, even without those infrastructures that are in schools of today,” Mr Osarenren said.

An educationist, Roland Asoro, who decried the rate of mass failure in examinations in the state in particular and the country at large, advised the government to take proactive steps to address the trend. He called for regular training and re-training of teachers, as well as the provision of learning aids in the schools.

Mr Asoro also admonished parents and guardians to supervise and regulate activities of their children at home, with a view to making them more responsible and serious.

Some parents, however, said that the bulk of the blame should not be attributed to them alone. They argue that teachers are also responsible for the poor performance of students in external examinations.

A parent, Osarobo Asemota, whose child attends one of the private schools in Benin City, argued that teachers can only give what they have academically.

According to her, many of the teachers, especially in some private schools, lack the minimum qualifications required. She also called for consistency in the educational policies of government.

“We want all concerned to urgently address this ugly development. If things continue the way they are, ten years from now, the country may inherit half baked workforce,” Ms Asemota said.

When contacted on phone, special assistant on education to Governor Oshiomhole, Alli Sule, said: “We are still studying the result at the ministry level. We shall come out with our position later.”

Getafe nears takeover

http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story/_/id/909448/la-liga-side-to-be-renamed-team-dubai-after-takeover?cc=3888
Saw the news already but i do not like how they want the team name to be changed, this is not good for la liga.
The clubs in England and other leagues do not have to change their names or is it because getafe is a small club? undecided

These three matches for the weekend will be very interesting, madrid might fed a weakened team or a strong team depending on their la liga goals. Valencia will not want to slip up because Villarreal will just pounce on the third position if they win their match against sevilla. Now to osasuna one of the teams that has been a stumbling block to real madrid this season, well barcelona should just be careful of this team because they are really good defensively and play on the counter as well. I believe sevilla is going to win or Villarreal will like to settle for a draw as they just want to maintain their fourth position and concentrate on the Europa league.

Anyway i am looking forward to these three matches starting from the valencia game.

Valencia ? - ? Real Madrid
Barcelona ? - ? Osasuna
Sevilla ? - ? Villarreal

The day is here already and i am looking forward to an exciting match between both teams. I believe we will use the same tactics as the last match but with more aggressiveness as a cup is at stake here. My preferred lineup would be the same except the inclusion of ozil to replace di maria.

Casillas

Arbeloa Ramos Carvahlo marcelo

Khedira Pepe

Alonso

Ozil Benzema Ronaldo

I have the believe that we are carrying the day and also in the champions league.

Jose Mourinho has a chance to become the only Real Madrid coach to win the title in four different countries

Carlos Cristobal / Translation by Michael J. O'Donnell

Jose Mourinho will play the fifth Cup final of his career at Mestalla on Wednesday. The Portuguese coach previously won this title in his home country, in England and in Italy. By defeating Barcelona on Wednesday, he would become the first Real Madrid coach to win the title in four different countries.

Mourinho won his first Cup title with Porto in the 2002/03 season. He won again with Chelsea (2006/07) and Inter Milan (2009/10). Mourinho only lost the 2004 final against Benfica, meaning he's won 75% of the finals he's played in.

The other Real Madrid coaches who won Cup titles in three different countries are Vujadin Boskov (Spain, Italy, Netherlands) and John Benjamin Toshack (Spain, Wales, Turkey).

It is very complicated to be successful in different countries, especially in a knockout tournament like the Copa del Rey. Heavyweights like Ferguson and Trappatoni have managed to win Cup titles in two different countries. By winning on Wednesday, Mourinho would top the ranking over Van Gaal (who won in the Netherlands, Spain and Germany), Bobby Robson (England, Portugal and Spain) and Helenio Herrera (France, Spain and Italy). He would also become the first to win Cup titles in the three strongest leagues in Europe: Spain, England and Italy.

Politics › Breaking News - Jonathan To Sack Ministers Next Week by Pharoh(op): 7:03am On Apr 17, 2011
There are strong indications that President Goodluck Jonathan may dissolve his cabinet next week.

Pointblanknews.com has learned that the dissolution which had been on cards for sometime would have taken effect three weeks ago but was suspended owing to impending elections.

Already, the President has ordered the freezing of the accounts of all ministries till new ministers are picked. Most of the last contracts awarded in the last financial year, are still at due process level.

Permanent secretaries are expected to hold sway and limit themselves to expense below N5 Million.

President Jonathan is expected to announce the dissolution of the federal cabinet at the next Federal Executive Council meeting to hold immediately after the general elections.

Good game and looking forward to the remaining three matches. cool

Today's change of tactics is one in a series of learning process that we have to get adapted to in order to play barca.

The goal this year like i said is to win the copa dey rey and the champions league not to match barca in anything.

Barca can keep the possession and passing of the ball around this season but we will come to that next season.

Hope the hostility between the two teams will tone down and they should control their emotions.

This was a confidence boost even though a three points would have been nice for the league challenge.

This whole thing you guys call election is nothing but tribal and ethnic power play. I am so disappointed in the backwardness of the Nigerian mentality
emcaluv:
I am not a politician but this is not healthy for Nigeria. Most people from other ethnic group could not vote in the North because of fear of molestation. May this Nation not tear apart because of 2011 Election. It is no more PDP issue rather tribe. I wonder what will happen in Nigeria in the next 48 hrs. There is much to this than GEJ or Buhari. May God help this country.
That was why i never joined those people from the south shouting change and saying they will vote for ribadu and buhari.

We need to move beyond religion and tribalism before you start election your leaders on competence alone.

This is a north versus south issue and nothing more, also when the violence starts it will surely fall along the same line.

JaaizTech:
Thanks it is clearer now, it means the winner must have 24 states in which He got not less than 25% of the votes in that state. If any candidate can't meet this then really He doesn't deserve to be the President. But my grouse now is, if  candidate A gets the majority of the votes (134(1)a) and candidateB gets more than 25% of votes counted in 24 states(134(1)b). What happens, will candidate B be declared winner or will there be a re-run. I am really concerned because very few are aware of this provisio, and it is a potential recipe for crisis .
The winner must fulfill both conditions:

1) Win majority votes
2) Win 2/3 of the states with atleast 25% votes.

Goodbye to coup beneficiary who did not do the right thing before he was overthrown for his incompetency.

Goodbye to a coup beneficiary that wants to rule in a democratic system which he helped truncated in the 1980's

Goodbye to a selfish dictator whose actions foisted the regimes of IBB and abacha on helpless Nigerians.

Goodbye to a coupist that benefited from the regime of a coupist and even went further to lie about the innocence of another coupist to the enlightened Nigerian public.

Goodbye to a general who in my sincere opinion does not know what to do in other to help Nigeria and its citizens.

Goodbye and hope never to hear about you again after tomorrow because your time is past and fast gone.

Real Madrid break their clean sheet record of the 1997/98 and 2001/02 seasons, in which they won their seventh and ninth European Cup titles

Laura Navas / Translation by Michael J. O'Donnell

Besides earning the best numbers of all sides in the top European championship, Real Madrid also happen to be thrashing their own records in the Champions League. By keeping a clean sheet in eight of their ten UCL games this season, the Whites have overtaken their seven clean sheet record of the 1997/98 and 2001/02 campaigns, in which they won their seventh and ninth Europan Cup titles, respectively.

Real Madrid faced Ajax in their fist Champions League match this season and defeated them 2-0. They then defeated Auxerre and Ajax away from home. They won against the French side again at the Bernabeu and also defeated AC Milan.

Their 1-1 draw in the first leg of the Round of 16 against Olympique Lyonnais was followed by a solid 3-0 victory, that in turn segued into impressive 4-0 and 1-0 wins over Tolttenham Hotspur at the Bernabeu and White Hart Lane in the quarterfinals.

There were two dutch clubs at the just concluded stage so i will not count them among the under-performing league. Shakther donestk and dynamo kyiv are from Ukraine with both clubs impressing in their respective competition as well. The Porto vs Villarreal match should have been the final and i foresee a very tough match but the subs should progress though and win the league.
