Nothing nice about the op analysis, it's a bias one.
Where can we get one that is not biased or the the person analyzing the candidate will not pick his proffered candidate as the best?.

Thanks.

In as much as we are all comfortable now and thinking of d future generation, there is no need to label any citizen as bad pple or name calling because they choose a candidate other than what anyone wants.
My brother that is just it, what is the point abusing people for their choice?, make yours and let the others make theirs as well simple.

I trully believed our problem is beyond PDP or corruption, but true we'll start at somewhere.
Thank you and that's my point, fashola is the shining light in ACN which does not translate to ACN being the right or best party for Nigeria. People shout corruption but i want to ask them that did fashola, ameachi and chime of enugu fought corruption before performing in office?.

*Can we still recall, when pple will queue at phone centers to receive call from abroad. that alone is an achievement of OBJ who is also a pdp. Tinapa resort center?
And people will shout that they have not done anything, see the Nigerian railway corporation working again. The revolution of our banking sector and their expansion to other African countries. There are many positive things to pick about the pdp despite their weakness.

Let pple make their choices based on Debate(s) or Physical Achievements or Phonetics of d candidates or sentiments. All I know is that it is difficult for a single party to win d presidency without an alliance or runoff. ALL THINGS WORK TOGETHER for GOOD FOR THOSE WHO DESIRE A BETTER NIGERIA in truth and spirit.
This is the simple truth, make your choices with whatever criteria and leave others to make theirs. Vote for who you think deserve your vote and leave others to make those personal decisions as well. Winning an election in nigeria goes beyond debates so let us all focus on the main goal.

I do not belong to any group above and i am free to use any analogy which i deem fit to be useful. What you have presented above is the same thing as mine and because it has to do with a robber does not mean i think people should go to public office to steal. Please do try not to make uninformed judgment rather ask what is my position.

What is the use of a military commander that is competent in just one aspect of his job and leaves the rest out?. What use is a personal driver that knows only one route from point A to point B and does not know about the other existing routes. My kind of leader is one who is competent in various aspects and it doesn't necessarily have to be 100%. Nigeria's problem to me is beyond fighting corruption and willingness to do something does not translate to the ability to do it.

Every goddamn person can go to a debate or campaign and tell one or two things to win a debate or did yar adua not have a seven point agenda which he did not even fulfill any one of them?.

The parties in this scenario are dbanj, eldee and pdp campaign team, we are discussing issues here and i have already blamed who i think is at fault here. Whenever there is a blunder by anyone i will rightly point it out or can you show me where i said i support pdp or am working for them?.
Politics › Re: El-dee Decries the Manipulative Use of his Name By GEJ Campaign Team by Pharoh: 11:58pm On Mar 23, 2011
Let me explain what has just happened in this scenario if you don't understand.

Lets take the Anglican church for example, they have different doctrines directed from the headquarters. Whatever decision is made means that the whole Anglican church agrees to it and they do not need have to consult the other divisions. They could say let us start an education fund for church members and it is just like a band wagon effect and every one agrees. But when they allowed gay bishops from the headquarters, the african subdivision came out that we do not support this and would like to break away.

This is the situation on ground, dbanj was the leader of the our team organization and they have been doing concerts and reaching out to youth to register and vote. They agreed to some guidelines which if followed they do not need to consult any member  before using their image or name on behalf of the organization. They said they won't endorse any politician because their aim is to drum up the awareness for people to register and vote for their choice candidates.

Dbanj as the leader of this organization decides to change the direction of the ourteam movement. He goes on to organize one of those their concerts but now endorses goodluck which is against their principles. He goes ahead to use the names and pictures of the members as usual. Eldee comes out and says that he was not consulted before the change of direction and he is not a party to this new direction.  It is against his own principles or the ideas of the movement so dbanj is the culprit here and not goodluck campaign team.

Goodluck and co are attending a concert being organized by dbanj and who is responsible for mobilizing the artist to perform on that day. It is not goodluck or his campaign team that selected those artist but dbanj. This is the point i am making to you that you should focus on dbanj who included eldee's name without consultation.

Many companies outsource their manufacturing activities to Chinese companies but they are not the ones responsible for the child labour or inhuman conditions used by these companies to make these products.
Politics › Re: El-dee Decries the Manipulative Use of his Name By GEJ Campaign Team by Pharoh: 11:37pm On Mar 23, 2011
^^

Dbanj is the one that included the artist to perform on that day of the concert simple. Goodluck has a busy schedule hence the campaign team as well. He has his daily activities planned in advance and unfortunately the debate fell into a date in which he has a concert to attend hence the busy schedule reply.

They are not busy preparing to attend but they have been booked for something else on that same day. There can any form of preparation needed to attend a concert depending on the entities concerned. It is a different preparation for a performing artist, organizers, the public or the president who needs to consider other factors like security.

naijangel7:
First, you haven't explained the first quote i gave you, the one you said i was "expanding the issue" with.
I said let us stick to the title of this thread which is the manipulative use of eldee's name in this situation. WE are trying to pin point the exact person that used his name for this concert.

Which concert do they mean? Why are they the busy ones when it is Dbanj doing the planning?

That statement was a comment made by a nairalander and it could be true or a lie who knows. Did you hear explicitly from goodluck campaign team that goodluck will not attend the debate because they are busy organizing the concert?.

Now let us even take that statement to be from the goodluck campaign, they said they have a busy schedule and not that they are busy organizing the concert. It means they cannot manage two events on the same day and the time might be clashing. If i asked to see you next week thursday by 5pm or even ask you to be flexible but you have different things planned for next week, won't you tell me that you have a busy schedule and you cannot honor my meeting.

How does that translate to them organizing the concert? or you don't understand what a busy schedule or calender is anymore?. They are simply going to be busy attending a concert which does not translate to them organizing the concert or are concerts organized on the same day that they are held?.

Don't tell me that you already concluded that they are busy organizing a concert instead of them getting busy to be prepared for a debate?. Dbanj is organizing the concert which they are going to attend because he is doing it to drum up support for goodluck. He would have attended if there was no clash of dates and my single story angle was for you to hear directly from goodluck campaign team also before making your judgment.

It is clear that you have been one sided and just made your conclusion from the story of one party. I would not love to discuss this too much anymore but hope you get the point now.

What is your question again please be more clear.   undecided

naijangel7:
And you expect me to believe that you're naive enough to think it's all Dbanj's plan without GEJ campaign having a hand in it? Why can't you just be fair and honest? If the campaign people themselves have (mistakenly or otherwise) admitted to be involved in the planning of the concert, why are you putting up a defence for them? Is it a second Dbanj concert they are planning or this same one? what exactly am i expanding? What's wrong is wrong. Period.
Why do you have to judge and make conclusions instead of interpreting the fact laid right in front of you? . Please remember adichie our own organizing the whataboutu debate when she gave the single story speech. Why are you in a hurry to rope in the goodluck campaign team without hearing their own side of the story. If you don't have a bias against goodluck you would have at least given them the benefit of doubt and start your condemnation first based on facts before you. Can you actually be an impartial judge in a court?, please be fair and honest in making your judgment sister.

This same group has already conducted some concert in the past and this is a new round but unfortunately they have shifted focus to endorse goodluck. So i am asking you that was the goodluck campaign team in charge of organizing the first round of concerts throughout the country?. Dbanj is the one that is responsible for the inclusion of the names of those artist in his organization and not the goodlcuk campaign team. Weather they were influenced, bribed or cajoled to do that is not the point because we are simply looking for who included those names in that concert. The person is dbanj so blame him for using eldee and banky's  names without their approval when he changed the focus of the youth group.

If you read the article then you will realize that those numbers on the title of the thread was used strictly for the voters population but i don't know how they came about those numbers.

You will need the actual official statement from Inec before the first question can be answered because this numbers was just from one Igbo association in the northern states.

The answer to your second question might be that they were not allowed to tamper with the outcome and it shows the true representation which is different from the flawed census. Is it not the same INEC that first published that eligible voters in Niger state was greater than the real population of that state.

To me they can quote any figure but people should go out vote and then accept the results presented by INEC but if else the court is the next point of call.
Politics › More Strategic Endorsement For President Goodluck Jonathan by Pharoh(op): 9:36pm On Mar 23, 2011
Meanwhile, the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) yesterday joined the list of pressure groups that have endorsed Jonathan for the April polls.

The body also vowed to deploy all legal means at its disposal to ensure that he was elected since doing so would better their lots and improve the economy.
The endorsement was at an interactive forum with the union at Sheraton Hotel, Abuja where Jonathan robbed minds with them and unfolded his
plan of ensuring that manufacturers of vehicles and machinery, mostly used in Nigeria, would be made to manufacture or assemble such in
Nigeria as a way of creating jobs and buoying up the economy. National Chairman of the union, Najib Yasin, said since the
interaction was the first a presidential candidate would involve the union, they would go all out to support his aspiration.

“The union will deploy all resources at its disposal to ensure your victory at the April 2 poll. We have no doubt in our minds that your
continued leadership will bring the much needed development and transformation of our country,” he said. Jonathan, who expressed his willingness to take and implement decisions that would impact positively on their job, said he had directed his chief economic adviser to work out modalities for the new policy.

“One of the areas which government is looking into which the chief economic adviser has been directed to look into is that most of these
machineries or vehicles that we consume in a very large quantity, we want a situation where they will be manufactured or assembled in Nigeria,” Jonathan explained.

He said the forum was organised because he believed they were part of the critical sector of the economy and needed their support and cooperation to move the nation forward.

People talk about denying the North the presidency. Is the religion or tribe really the issue, or is it good governance? Have you even heard the massive concessions GEJ is making to the North just to secure his single term in office?

On Election day, i will do what needs to be done. I know you will do what you want also. But let us mark these days when we warned about the need for change.
Everyone has their own criteria why they want someone to be their president and you cannot honestly tell me that those crowd in the north are supporting buhari because of good governance. Nigeria has a problem beyond pdp and that's why a candidate in most instance will always get his highest number of votes from his tribe or religion or what part of the country he comes from. I am sure you were at the meeting where goodluck was making those concessions? i am sure fashola's problem with tinubu should come to your mind, ngige and chris uba, adedibu and ladoja. You cannot in most instances get to a position without negotiation and making concessions, and do you realize that goodluck is making concessions with the north where buhari and ribadu hails from?. This is where they have their highest support and it does not ring a bell in your ears that those people are not in for good governance but for their selfish reasons.

To conclude it yes we will all go to the polls to vote for our choices and we will always sit down someday in the future to take a stock of our actions.

If this was just about me, i'd let the issue lie. I am not a poor man, I will still remain very comfortable under any Government in power. This is about fixing Nigeria for the future generation. This is about turning away from the PDP and breaking the stranglehold they have on this country. We cannot allow Nigeria to become a one-party state. Our future generations will curse us for this, mark my words.
We also are comfortable in whatever circumstance and everybody wants to fix the nation and because they support goodluck does not mean otherwise. So you honestly think by just replacing the president with buhari or ribadu then nigeria's problem is solved?. Like i have told you before, there are some people who believe nigerias problem is beyond pdp. Most people who think corruption  is our only problem are just mistaking and that's the selling point of buhari but after you defeat corruption then what next?.

It is like a robber going to rob a bank and the only thing he knows which he thinks is the biggest problem is to get pass the gate man at the gate. So i ask now what if he does not know how to move in the building or even how to open the safe where the money is. What if he even opens the safe and he does not know what to do with the money?. Gowon had oil money but did he knew what he would have done with it, look at the various problems of Nigeria as a whole and tell me after solving corruption the plans that these candidates have to fix those problems.

At the end of the day, if GEJ and his corrupt PDP cohorts win the day, we will all stew in the boiling pot. As someone said, you can lead a camel to the stream but you cannot force it to drink. If 12 years of PDP misrule has not showed you what you must do, then there's really little we can do to convince you.
We are all adults and will be responsible for any actions we take weather the outcome produces a good or bad result. In your point of view pdp misrule is the problem of Nigeria why to others they see beyond that or even think something differently. I wish you guys in you walk towards solving Nigeria's problem from the point of pdp misrule but there are many ways to kill a rat. Some think otherwise and they are implementing a different strategy towards solving Nigerias problem. Trust me no one is more patriotic than the other because they have decided to vote for buhari, ribadu or goodluck. Every man to his choice and the consequences of their choice but you guys have never thought of the possibility of something going wrong with your choice at the end of the day.

Who is organizing this concert, is it goodluck's campaign team or the organization of which dbanj is the leader?.

Please answer those two questions for me and it will do us good if you can use an open mind to read eldee's rebuttal, read the link from Linda ikeji and look carefully at the so called manipulative picture. Please make an informed judgment without any bias and see the point i am trying to make.

Politics › Jonathan Leads Poll With 53% by Pharoh(op): 4:41pm On Mar 23, 2011
The President, Goodluck Jonathan has earned a 53 percent lead in an opinion poll released yesterday, two weeks ahead of the presidential election, which claims that “53% of the respondents think that Goodluck Jonathan will win the April presidential position.” The president’s bid received a further boost according to the poll which went on to state that “most (68%) approve of Goodluck Jonathan’s performance as President.”

The poll conducted by NOI Polls Limited using survey methodologies developed by Gallup Organization (USA) revealed that, of the 19 presidential candidates, only four of the candidates are considered relevant by the respondents in the poll.

Also in the poll financed by ANAP foundation, 46% of Nigerians are aware of Ibrahim Shekarau’s (of the All Nigerians People Party) ambition while 48% are aware of Nuhu Ribadu’s (Action Congress of Nigeria) presidential bid. 73% indicated knowledge of Muhammadu Buhari’s (of the Congress for Progressive Change) and 93% confirmed knowing that Goodluck Jonathan, of the People’s Democratic Party is running for the presidency. The remaining candidates had less than 20% of Nigerians, knowing of their ambition.

Beyond the awareness range, the poll revealed that “53% of the respondents think that Goodluck Jonathan will win the April presidential election” without giving a breakdown of how the respondents reacted to the remaining three candidates.

However, the founder of ANAP foundation (a non-partisan NGO), Atedo Peterside while addressing journalists at the presentation of the poll result on Tuesday stated that “the remaining balance of 47% respondents think that either Buhari, Ribadu or Shekarau will win the presidential election while some of them (the respondents) say they do not know.”

The former banker also noted that the poll result supports the recent presidential debate which invited only the top four candidates identified in this poll, saying “in effect all the others are non-starters.”

According to Mr Peterside, “the overriding objective of the poll is to empirically establish which of the presidential candidates stands the greatest chance of receiving the people’s mandate to ascend to the nation’s highest office.” The poll further revealed that “almost all Nigerians have given at least some thought to the April elections” and that “nearly 3 out of 4 of the respondents have voted in at least one previous election.”

Despite the challenges that marred the recent voter’s registration, the poll also stated that “almost all Nigerians had registered or planned to register to vote in the elections.” It also gathered that “an extension of the period for the voter registration exercise would enable registration of more eligible voters in Nigeria” .

The poll designed in English language was translated into the major Nigerian languages (Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba and Pidgin English) and distributed across the six geo-political zones of the country to a representative random sample of Nigerians.

When asked about the spread of the respondents across the country, the CEO of NOI Polls, Ndubuisi Anyanwu, told NEXT that “1,000 people were used across the urban and rural centres”, adding that “the 1,000 mark is the set standard used by Gallup (the international polling organization)”. NOI poll’s research analyst noted that +/-3percent marginal error was used for the presidential poll and it was carried out from February 11 to February 28. The presidential election is scheduled to hold on April 9, 2011.

Politics › Breaking News - The Nigerian Railway Is Back For Good. by Pharoh(op): 1:52pm On Mar 23, 2011
Efforts to revive the Nigerian railways network got off this morning after a free train service for the public chugged off at the Iddo rail station, Lagos at 9.35am. The trip, earlier scheduled to span between Lagos and Ilorin, Kwara State, will now terminate in Ibadan, Oyo State, due to technical glitches on a part of the rail track. The train has eight coaches.

After 15 minutes stop over to pick security and some staff of the corporation at Alagomeji rail station, the train, moving at a slow speed reached Mushin around 10am. Though many people trooped out to confirm the news of the service, tens of passengers and six journalists finally made the trip. The VIP section, where journalists are placed, is a 98-passenger fully air conditioned coach, with fans, television and other conveniences provided. Passengers however berate the change of direction from Ilorin to Ibadan and urge the railway corporation to work more on its timing.

Some more passengers joined at the Agbado station, and the train now has about 20 passengers on board. The track is noisy, and makes conversation hard.

11:00am: The train is now at the Opo Suru station in Ijoko. The tracks here are newly fixed and it has not been passed in years, except for construction purposes. About 50 passengers joined the service at Ijoko station.

12:00pm: Passengers expressed views that the speed of the train makes the journey better than road one. Farmers and villagers along the route come near the track to wave at passing train.

12.30pm: Spokesman of the Nigerian Railways Corporation, David Ndanusa said the last time a commercial train service ran on the track was years ago.

Train now at Abese station: Buildings at the station are all locked up and the place is desolate. Train has, for some minutes been passing through several kilometers-long sugar plantation.
Now passing by Ewekoro Cement factory. We sight several trailers packed within its premises to transport cement, something the train could now do more efficiently.

12:48pm: Three hours into the journey, train leaves Itori station for Abeokuta. There had been stops at every station along the way.

13:00pm: Train stops at the popular Wasinmi railway station. Excited townspeople trooped to the station to catch sight of the train

Good that you have hit the points yourself, we vote in Nigeria based on sentiments until the country is fixed before we can start voting logically. Just like some people are voting for ribadu and buhari logically so also some people are voting for them based on sentiments. Some are voting for goodluck logically and also through sentiments but in the present nigeria context sentiments is the order of the day.

Majority of those that will vote for buhari will do that on sentiments and same goes for goodluck but it doesn't apply so much for ribadu or maybe a fashola if he decides to run. We are all capable of voting logically and we do not even need debate to decide that as you said which i agree. But it is time you understand that majority of the votes for this coming election will be based on sentiments and it is those little minority that is crying on logic on the internet. Even some of the elites will vote based on sentiments and even logically for those that will protect their interest. We are not yet a developed society and this is not the time to fix it in my opinion because even the opposition are riding on a multitude of votes based on sentiments.

Guy cant you be more sensible with your posts? Must you bring politics and your campaigns to every thread? what has PDP and GEJ got to do with this?

The planes that crash in advanced countries in western europe must have been procured by GEJ too.

I hope you are not on drugs anyway?
It is getting pathetic these days that nothing goes wrong in this country without blaming PDP and goodluck.
