Don't be in a hurry to compare with Nigerian movies

A basic VFX could be done by a 2nd year student doing Animation

The problem
1. Nigerian Movie Market is not targeted towards Visual Effects. If you look at the age of people who watch Nigerian Movies you find out that they are not concerned with how crappy the movie looks and VFX might put them off.

2. As a director, why pay for expensive Visual Effects when 51 Iweka road will illegally make thousands of copies of your movie and make a profit on your head

3. Older Generation prefer crappy movies because they can easily relate to that

No offence directed or given
When ever we are ready, I know someone who could do a great VFX

PoliticsRe: A British Response To 3,000 Pounds Bond by pharuk: 9:46am On Aug 16, 2013
Its about time we wake up and realise that the grass on the other side (UK) is not always green.

Yes we have family, friends, school that we need to visit, but its time to realise that we also have values.

If reverse was the case, (Nigeria charging UK £3K) other European countries will support UK and put a fee for Nigerians.

But we have to no active African Union, what you see is other African countries is them Laughing at us.

I must also add, Nigerians proposing £5K as a retaliation is one of the dumbest idea I have ever heard, he who came up with that idea should be fired.

What do I propose then? Allow the UK to charge that fee - UK has no natural resource or nothing, just a an accountable country with "minimal corruption" and thrives on taxes. By the time Indians (which by the way constitute some degree of influence on the British economy) Nigerians etc, moves to other countries, and the GDP in UK continues to Drop, there will be no need to tell monkey that market done close.

FamilyRe: Describe Your Dad's Slap In One Word by pharuk: 3:34pm On Jul 16, 2013
Dad has 2 types of slap.

1. He gives you the feeling like he is going to slap you, the thought alone gives you headache and makes you fall sick

2. Then the real slap, the kind that makes your inner mouth echo and your ear rings

Not to derail the topic but the worst slap was from a soldier, all I remembered was him raising his hand and then waking up with water on my face and people lifting me up.

Jobs/VacanciesRe: Share Your Job Interview Experiences by pharuk: 2:17pm On Apr 29, 2013
cool
ritux: My first interview was with a construction company in Manchester. The company director and one other technical guy interviewed me. In fact, it was actually a discussion chat after which they told me how they operate and took me round the office and introduced me to some other guyz. Two days later, they sent me email SORRY ON THIS OCCASSION blah blah blah

Second, after several exchange of emails with the MD of a company in Lagos, he told me he will like to see me whenever I come to naija. When I got to Nigeria, I travelled from Delta state with flight for that matter to go see this guy. After all the plenty dicussions, he said he will start me with 30K naira and as time goes on, we will review. I just told him I will get back to him and I left. Waisted time and resources.

My present job, I got an appointment with the Area Manager of the company. When I got there, I waited for 2hours to see him only for him to tell his sectary that I should come back after their lunch break with my CV. I got back by 1pm and he did not come back from break until 2pm. He called me in, went through my CV and said he wasn't going to interview me and that everthing is written on my CV. He just asked me which softwares I could use. I told him and he asked me if I am very good in MS Project, I said yes and the next thing was the big question "How much is my salary" I told him it all depends on what the company is ready to offer me. He told me 50k 75k 100k. I just smiled at him because I could not just say any amount. He asked me to come with him to another office and he introduced me to another white man. I could not understand what the said in their local dialect. That was how I got my present job.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Share Your Job Interview Experiences by pharuk:
Got a handful

Very first interview was zenith bank some years back, we all stood in a confined room like un glorified chickens ready to slaughtered. There was a glass wall separating us from the interviewers so I relaxed my tired head on the wall, one corper then said I had seen all the questions the interviewers had to ask and I should leave. So more or less I dint do the interview at all =>Fail

First interview after Msc was with a Scottish guy, we both dint understand each other and both got tired of saying, “come again” =>Fail

Went for an interview and arrived 2mins before the start, the only parking space was a disabled bay. Parked and rushed to the interview, the interview got interrupted and I was forced to re park my car, by the time I came back, they told me the interview was over =>Fail

Did an interview for a hygiene company, the lady asked if I had experience washing plates, I told her as long as I can remember, I have been washing plates all my life , quite hilarious but the bastard dint still give me a job =>Fail

Went for one with an American company, the girl was so fine with British/American accent, all I remember was me complementing her and she just blushing and turning red  got the job but hatred it later.

Did a computer based test and scored 90%, they were amazed and one of the interviewers mumbled out loud, no one has gotten that score before and will be surprised if you don’t get the job, I went home rejoicing and telling people abt my new job, just to find out another bastard had 92%

Last Failed interview was with Jaguar Land Rover. The pay was stupid, couldnt believe they were X5 of what i was currently doing, I took someone with me because the journey was 3 hours, we gisted and i mentally forgot i was going for an interview. The first question is normally the most asked quetion and my opportunity to shine "why do you want to work here" for the sake of man and God - I went totally blank, kept on saying erm - erm, the man was even trying to help me, but sadly - it was an EPIC FAIL

Very last Interview experience.

Got an invite from one of the top FTSE companies, after the 2nd round the interviewer told me i had passed but they needed one more person to apply so they could have a comparison, and i will need a last interview. So i was waiting and praying that they dont find someone better than me.

While waiting I got another interview with the same company but diff roles, The last interview for both roles fell on the same day with a diff of one hour (meanwhile i havent told any of them abt the other interview)
After the first one, the woman told me congrats, you will hear from me, while i was doing the second job interview - she walked past the room and saw me.

This woman sat outside the interview room to ask "whats going on here" I wanted the ground to open and felt i lost both jobs.

Got home and a HR person told me i had to choose now. Cut story short i went for the second and till this date (more than a yr now) the woman hasn’t forgotten/forgiven me and doesnt even speak to me

Looking back, they were not funny then, but thank God for now cool
