Hi guys, I'm new here. Please what is NSE? I have been seeing people mentioning it. I am applying for a graduate certificate at University of Calgary to study network security. I earn 100k monthly as my salary in my office. Please i hope this will not affect my getting the student visa, even though i have enough money in my account (5m) to show as proof of funds.

Lastly, someone mentioned to me that if my fees is about 14,000CAD, that if I have like 7,000CAD in your account for the fees + the 10,000CAD living expenses, that i will still be given visa. Is this true?? thanks
Is not true oooo.

You must show evidence of financial capability to sponsor your program in Canada if you want to be eligible for study permit.

You need to show
Full one year tuition + 10000cad living expenses + 3000 for others.
Source of proof of funds whether you are self sponsored or using a sponsor.

If you do the maths, 5m or 7m may not be enough.

Hello gurus,
What are the chances of getting a Canadian study permit after US study visa has been denied four(4) times? I'm a genuine student but it seems US is just doing anyhow, so I wanna do the same biotechnology program at UWindsor for Fall 2021. Same sponsor(dad), but now, he intends to put all the fees in my account for about 2months before application, and I will still submit his personal and corporate bank statements.

-Presently in community pharmacy practice, and I intend to get a leave letter, although salary is jst around 90k. In my LOE, I plan to write that I will come back to my job while I search for better opportunities in multinationals like Novartis or Pfizer.

-Last US denial was earlier dis Nov 2020, applying to Canada for Fall 2021.

BSc Biochem 2017 and bin working since December 2018, datz where I work till date.

-Not married, No kids, in my mid 20's
USA visa denial doesn't have any direct impact on your Canada application. However, make sure you declare all rejection as appropriate.

On a practical note, USA visa requirement is different from that of Canada. So do yourself a great help by understanding and familiarizing yourself with the do's and don't of Canadian Study visa to enable you submit an approval worthy application.

Goodluck!

Good day everyone.

Having gone through this thread, I seem to notice that applicants with siblings in Canada do get rejected.

For me, my sister is a citizen of Canada. She’s going to be my main sponsor while my brother in the UK will be my second sponsor.

For ties back in Nigeria, I have my parent and two other siblings in Nigeria, my parents and my brothers have landed properties in Nigeria. I can get a letter of study leave from my company where I’ve been working for almost 3 years now.

Please do I run a risk of being rejected due to family ties in Canada and Nigeria?
Your home times in terms of social is strong. It is safe to opine that you have strong tie in Nigeria than Canada. However, you should know that, home tie is not only about social. There are financial and economic aspect. And on top of that, they will review your app in it's entirely and not home tie alone.

Is your study purpose strong?
Financial - self and sponsor?
Future goals and objectives?

Ensure you tick all boxes and not just one aspect.

All the luck.

Good Evening Everyone, Please i need your thoughts on this.

I am actually a student with the Simon Fraser University, Burnaby Canada. Studying online from Nigeria. (MA Educational Technology and Learning Design) This program consists of courses and a thesis for a minimum of 34 units

I made a choice of picking 3 courses this fall term due to the notification I got about a course related to my research area on inclusion, which is (EDUC 710 – Autism Spectrum Disorder). The other core courses are EDUC-890 (Education Media as a foundation of the curriculum) and EDUC-893 (Social and Organizational Aspects of Learning Technology Design). Their Credits are as follows:
EDUC-890 - 4 Credits
EDUC-893 - 4 Credits
EDUC-710 - Was moved from 3 – 5 Credits

Totaling 13 Credits.

The upcoming Spring Term I have EDUC-864 (4 Credits) & EDUC892 (4 Credits). The two terms make up 21 credits which are above the 50% study outside of Canada requirements for my postgraduate work permit (PGWP).

I wish to ask what your take is on the current situation that I am in?

And is the 50% outside of Canada studies based on course load (Credit Units) or is it based on program duration? And how is it Calculated ?

This question is rather unique and no one may be able to advice you, based on personal experience.

I think you should ask the international department in your school. You can also send a message to IRCC Twitter page.

Top of the day to everyone on here
I've been a constant follower of this great thread.
Straight to my question, for about over a year now, I've been seeking for supervisor for my MSC application (Animal Science) with no positive yet. I however applied to University of Manitoba September this year(without a supervisor) for summer 2021, last week I was approved for admission with a clause of getting a supervisor before Jan 1. Anyone who can guide me as to what I've been doing wrong or what I should be doing cos I'm still mailing with no response yet ..
Thanks
Hi

Actually, getting a supervisor is a big job. Your dedication, interest and commitment to achieve this aim will be tested. But, don't falter. If you don't give up, it will happen.

I supposed you have a great CGPA, publication, paper presentation, conference attendance experience, a well composed CV, and a winning proposal. These documents, garnished with your transcript are the stuffs that will sell you.

Make sure you sell yourself as an erudite student with Corr interest in working with your targeted supervisor.

Things you should know:
Your first point of contact email should be free from error, it should be concise and direct, and on top of that, make sure each email is customized.
If you are targeting a single school, like in your case, don't send mass messages to all the prof. Again, customize your email, read the publication of the Prof and align your interests to matches his or her own.
Boost about your past achievement and how it will motivate you be crucial to his or team.
Attach brief document, CV, transcript, and I advice you to consider showcasing your academic profile on Google scholar, research gate, etc and share the link in your first message.

Finally, myself and many other people have written several posts about ways to get supervisor. Help yourself to read backwards.

Good luck!

Good evening house,

I am writing this with mixed feelings. I applied for a program with NBCC, paid application fee and all after which I realized that the program I applied for was a post-secondary program cause I ready have a Bsc. I immediately went on to apply for a change of course. I later realized that one of the courses to which I applied for a change was not effected, I called the international office and reported it even sent them a voice note to which they acknowledged the receipt. Now I have been offered admission on the course which I asked for a change.
I know that the chances of being rejected on The grounds of lack of academic progression is eminent.

Please gurus in the house, kindly advice and help I any way possible.
Thanks.
So many people have applied to more than one schools in the past. Explore other options, apply to another schools and choose only a school, program, and course that can at least up your chances during visa application.

There is no point having mixed feelings when you have applied to only one schools.

May heaven's provide for you, the finances needed to chart this journey!

Hello Gurus & all Nairalanders
Would appreciate your help.

I submitted a study permit application for a Bsc in International Marketing at University of Manitoba. I have a previous Bsc. In Insurance (Graduated with 2:1) and i'm currently a Marketing and Sales Executive.

I indicated in my SOP that i picked International marketing because i wanted to understand marketing from an international perspective ,and another B.sc because Masters is advanced and i needed to understand the vital topics.
I also stated that I'd be taking over my father's business (Real Estate) upon the completion of my studies.

However,I got a refusal letter on 24th Sep 2020 on the following ground;
'I am not satisfied you will leave Canada at the end of your stay based on the purpose of your visit'.
Ordered gcmnotes which indicates proposed studies not a reasonable expense and accorded less weight to employment ties to my country of residence. Please find gcmnotes attached below.

I intend to reapply as i now have a Post Graduate admission to study Strategic Marketing Communications in Conestoga College.

I need help on how to tackle;
1. Proposed study as a reasonable expense. ( Will the PGC admission tackle this reason?) How can i prove the sudden change?
2. Employment ties. (I am employed. Submitted personal SOA).

Thank you so much for your time.
You have a very strong educational profile, yet, you wanted to start all over again. Simple job for the VO.

Don't parabulate, with a 2.1 in insurance and work experience in sales and marketing. Simply find a master's degree program in related area and connect salient similarities to show career and educational progression.

Don't weaken your profile with wrong courses and program combination.

You already have a star profile, you shouldn't be denied a visa, based on purpose of visit.

Don't shy away from the stress and difficulty of getting master's admission.

Please I’m still a bit worried about my GCMS notes as I stated earlier.
I’m not sure what to think about the VOs note (it doesn’t seem like anything to me). Also the part where they said BIL expired, I’m not so sure what that means because I did my biometric and it was updated.
Please someone should explain this notes to me... there’s really no comments there.
BIL - biometric instruction letter that was sent to you has expired. If you have done your biometrics and if it has been updated. Nothing to worry about. Just chill.

Another postive from the note is that, you have passed eligibility.

The question is; were you given directives to undergo medical exam?
Do you receive AIP?

Thanks so much bro for your urgent response but I already have admission into centennial and part payment has been made as school fees deposit. The Advanced Diploma is under the school Post graduate Certificate.

Please I will appreciate other people opinion/ advice
If you have read this forum carefully, several trends back, you will know that your choice of program does not show career progression.

With a 2:2, PGC is the right program to apply for, in a program that is closely aligned with your past degree or work experience.

Getting Admission and paying school fees, even for a year will likely not convince the VO.

But who knows, if you package your app and explain yourself, your case may just end up as one in a hundred.

Good luck

Hello greatminds,
I really want to know if a business owned with CAC certification is enough for HT after denial due to the reason alone?

If not, can anyone help list other strong ties suggested aside from having family or landed property... Thanks fam.
There is a strong home tie that people almost never talked about - job prospects!

Imagine you applied to study account or financial related courses in Canada and you write a future milestone target in your SOP, targeting to become the CBN governor once you complete your study.

This is particularly exciting because, to hold this position, you need workplace experience in Nigeria, a master's degree and an international qualification will definitely be an icing on the cake.

No doubt, to fulfil this goal, you must come back to Nigeria, work in Nigeria and of course use your advance degree.

I believe, if well utilized, every application with distinct study goal can capitalize on this academic, skill, and career driven home ties.

Regards.

Good evening house,

Please i need advice on how to build my personal account as i don't have alot of money in it

My sponsor is using her business account and i have seen in the forum the need to transfer the living expenses to my personal account

Can i just transfer the whole 10,000 cad to my account from the business account and explain?

And if yes, please how do i give the explanation? In my sop? Or sponsorship letter?

Please i really need help with this
Be properly guided and well informed.

Packaging your proof of financial is not only about living expenses. You need to factor into consideration, the following breakdown

Full year 1 tuition + $10,000 (living expenses) which may be higher depending on your school's province + additional $3,000 (to cater for others).

If you are using a sponsor, preferably use a direct sponsor and use personal account. However, if your case is different, ensure to proffer proof of relationship and other necessary documents.

And of course, if your program is more than a year, your sponsor must show proof that you will have access to funds for the following years

So, if you are self sponsored, I believe you can now estimate how much you should show.

Regards!

Pls advise on what next.
Applicant is my girlfriend, I am also studying in Canada.
If a funded PhD applicant can be rejected, plus the application was packaged by someone who has passed through the process himself, then, we should know that this SP visa is now requiring thorough efforts from all applicants.

While the gcms note is important to proffer custom guidance, I would suggest the following actions, before its arrival.

Let the applicant demonstrate financial strength to her best, probably add her own soa, parent soa, and in addition, let her show economic ties back home. A landed property in her name or the ones she is heir to.

If the applicant is unemployed, it would be imperative for her to find volunteer position and letter to back her case. Don't leave anything undone. Also, she should consider home ties, and to do this, her future goals, siblings, parent soa and economic strength will suffice.

Her sop and loe will need to tackle the vos concerns. Finally, the applicant should demonstrate how this PhD will be important to her, maybe make some references to her msc thesis and other publications (if any) to further demonstrate her readiness and excitement for this PhD program, because I am wondering why purpose of visit was mentioned on the refusal.

Let her rose on her feet to make her second application count.

But you didnt say i stand a chance with my next application paying tuition showing a balance of 8m and using family as hometies
Skull4eva

A lot of people have excitedly proffer a solution to your case, but, like many of us, I think you want to be adamant and be in a hurry.

Why did I said many of us? Sometimes, in January, I got Admission to uOttawa with an msc course based admission - no funding. Even though I applied to about 10 schools, USA and Canada. As expected, I was looking for finance up and down and the situation was not really encouraging.

It was particularly frustrating, because I graduated with a first class. But then, I was lucky to meet someone on here, whose words of encouragement shaped my excitement to try again. In her words, she said why the rush. Try other schools. 3 months after that discussion, I got another admission, faster than I ever imagined, and it covers almost all my tuition.

So, I would encourage, don't be in an unnecessary rush and weaken your profile. Re package your profile, re do your resume, brush up your Sop, research interest. Mail profs in your current school and tell them about the need for funding. Infact, you may be surprised that their is funding for you in the same dept.. if you don't ask, some schools won't say anything. Ask your supervisor, ask the dept, ask the faculty.

If nothing happens, look elsewhere, narrow your search to few other schools and see what may happen. However, if you are unwilling to try again. Then I can only wish you good luck in your next application.

For your next application, while you are strengthening the financial package for your file, remember to package your personal asset, package your wife resources while they stay behind, present a reasonable financial outlook for your family while you are away.

All the luck.
