Ysakaws1: VERY IMPORTANT QUESTION: Can two separate applications have the same sponsor? Will the VO find out? This is my situation. Precisely, my brother and I paid different agents for the entire processing (this was unplanned). We both now have different admissions and we are about to apply for our study permits. The only option for both of us is using our Dad as sponsor. I’m really worried if this won’t have any effect. They can only identify a sponsor by his name, and several people can bear the same name - so I personally feel there is no way the VO will find out that the sponsor is the same on two applications. I need to hear from others however. Sadly, even if it would have effect, there’s still no other option for sponsorship.
P.S - Please I need answers only if you are sure, because your answer may totally discourage me, and that’s the last thing I need right now. Thanks. Disclaimer; I have not been in this shoe, I am only writing you generic idea. So yes, they will find out. Infact, if you read this trend to far back, you will see a monicker who was refused, together with his/her siblings for using same sponsor at the same time. How will they find out? Bank statement Supporting evidence for proof of ownership ( land doc, employment stuff, business registration and all) ID card (regardless of changing, I believe the details don't change) You and your sibling will provide the same list of siblings, mother, father and stuffs like that. And finally, I am confident your dad's photo will show on at least one of the document you will submit. I believe if your dad have the resources to actually sponsor you both, the solution is for one person to apply now and the other just chill for few months for the other. At this moment, you are guys are being tested for patience! Good luck with your decision! |

Chikaima18: Hello bosses Frankrobbn1, JustMellow and other bosses . My application was refused today and the reasons are very confusing. Please advise. I do not have any relative in Canada. This rejection reason is so unique. If you check through all your doc, information and every details in your file. You may find a lead. In other scenario, you may provide a background overview about your profile submission, so that gurus can figure out the reason for this rejection. This is not a generic refusal. Your files were checked thoroughly, although, there may be a mistake. |

ron5ke: I don't know what is going on in Concordia o cos i am angry. I applied since January and I was told it takes 16weeks before a decision can be made. 16weeks after, I got nothing. I kept emailing the admission department and they kept apologising. I finally emailed the admission arm of the program faculty and she told me she would send my file to the admissions department(since January). In her words; "Sorry, I have been busy. I will send your file to the admissions today and we will wait for response" Since January o! 1hr 36mins later I got a refusal letter stating that they had large applications blah blah blah... This is really not fair. Time and resources wasted just like that with no tangible reason. This is so so sad. I think you should write an emotional and down to heart letter to who ever delay that application and humbly ask if they can consider you for January admission or something. I hope you have another school as an alternative. So sorry bro! |

NairaLuck: I chose PGC cause of the duration. You and I know that it's all an immigration pathway so why spend more when I can spend less and still arrive at my destination and the goal of immigrating knowing in the job market there's hardly any segregation in degree rather they need your skills and experience ? Secondly, I'm not serving (NYSC) I don't wish to serve cause of the time frame except I confirm that I can leave half way then someone will get my discharge certificate.
Lastly, I'm not employed but I provide services and in the meantime I have been learning a new skill online. Actually, you and I do not know the same thing. But I can advice you based on my presence on this forum, that, 1. Your geniue intention to study will be examined 2. Your intent to satisfy and obey the rules and regulations under the student visa you are intending to secure will also be examined. So, face it and do it one step at a time. Firstly, do your best to convince the officer that you deserved the study visa you are seeking. And in relation to my earlier question, I was asking about your UG CGPA cos if you made 2.1 and you are going for PGC it may be counterproductive to your case. I hope you get the memo now. |

I am unable to sign the family information form, should I go ahead and upload the document that way or is there any alternative way of signing it?
Secondly I will also like to know, is it okay to use two sponsors for my proof of funds i.e my Mum (Personal account) and Elder brother ( company account) ? For online application, you don't need to sign the form. Just input your full name and date. Once you are ready to submit your application finally, you will be prompted to sign it with your full name as an attestation. Using two people as sponsor is not bad, but the idea of using your brother's company account may not be a good move. |

Luckymama: So I got my GCMS notes today and I have to say I agree with all those who say the GCMS notes help you see the main concern of the VO. The reason for the rejection was a lack of funds which did not make sense to me because I had more then enough funds for my entire program plus upkeep.
Turns out the VO was concerned that we did not supply evidence that my sponsor had control of his company account. Note, we submitted three accounts:
1. Mine in which the sponsor had already paid in my tuition and upkeep.
2. His personal account which was also okay
3. Company account to show his source of income as a self employed person because otherwise we had no evidence of how he earned his living. We also submitted incorporation documents of his company.
How does a self employed person show his source of income without showing his business account? It's all good that the GCMS note is providing a pointer for you. Way back from the start, it was that company account that fumbled all your effort in that app. I remembered your financial situation was really good even without that company account. I think it would make sense to get the funds in that company account into his personal account based on the GCMS insight. Or you are considering the idea of adding financial documents from your hubby? Your next will be your time, Good luck. |

wongwe: Good day to the elders in the forum.
I got my acceptance letter from MEMORIAL UNIVERSITY OF NEWFOUNDLAND yesterday to study a 2yrs masters program.
The Tuition fees is $9,666, and i got a funding of $5,000 per annum, which is expected to cover my tuition for the 2 years.
Now here is my bone of contention. I am planning to sponsor myself and i have 2 major questions:
1) I have been self employed since 2019, but i work as a freelancer (which does not relate with my admitted program of study). How will i present myself as my sponsor without implicating myself?
2) How much will be needed to show the availability of proof of funding?
All response will be truly appreciated... Thanks Hi bro, Could you check your offer and funding letter carefully, plus check the tution fee very clearly, so you can ascertain the correct fees. Get to know whether the fees were quoted per term or per year. If you are sure that this information is correct as you have quoted, that make sense, however, if you mistakenly quoted the fee, check it out and know how much exactly your financial situation should be. One year tuition Living expenses, say CAD 10,000 Others, say CAD 3000 If you ar self sponsored, you have to show viable financial plan to pay subsequent fees. With your experience in freelancing, I wouldn't mind to connect with you. I am also a freelancer! |

I got admitted into Stenberg College to study a PGD in nursing so i had to apply for a work permit since my course have to deal with practical. yesterday, i got the following as reasons for refusal;
Thank you for your interest in studying in Canada. After careful review of your study permit application and supporting documentation, I have determined that your application does not meet the requirements of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) and Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations (IRPR). I am refusing your application on the following grounds: • I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on the purpose of your visit. • I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on your family ties in Canada and in your country of residence. You are welcome to reapply if you feel that you can respond to these concerns and can demonstrate that your situation meets the requirements. All new applications must be accompanied by a new processing fee. I need help on how to go about this, since school is pushing resumption for September. Thank you. So sorry for your refusal. Hopefully you get things right the next time. If you are looking forward to credible and customized insight into your case on the forum, you may share the list of supporting document that you submitted. |

However, you could try to answer this question based on my insight. Is your employment details, company or organization verifiable? Answer: it's verifiable, infact my company is seconded to Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited. The letters from the company all every necessary details.
Do you have family in Canada whom you declared or not declared? Answer: I don't have any family or relatives in Canada.
Who is your sponsor? I supposed your sponsor is your parent or direct somebody? If so, I want you to sum up your tuition for a year, plus living expenses and others. Then factor out the total from your available cash. That way you can know if your are truly financially sustainable. Remember, if it is not a direct sponsor, you will need big money to remain in the sponsor account when your immediate needs are factored out. Answer: My sponsor is my uncle. TUITION AND 1 YEAR BILL amounts to 8.7m. And I told you this man produced a fixed deposit of 45M with a statement of account of about 7M. And in his letter he stated that he is worth over 200M in assets.
Finally, when did you graduate, when did you get the Job? Answer: I graduated 2014, finished service April 4th 2016. Started a low profile job in May 16, 2016. Join another Jan. 16, 2017, then Joined my latest employer in Feb. 2018 and has been with then till now.
Please, kindly advice. I am sure you have all the information now.
If there is anything you don't want to post publicly, please email me @ cleanclean27@yahoo.com Looking at it criticallly now, it is clear that your financial outlook carries a high chunk of the rejection. I'm not a guru actually, but I have seen from observation that these VO actually regards direct sponsors in high esteem. In your case, I believe this uncle share the same surname with you and i also believe the soa is a personal savings account and not business accoubt. Assuming those are correct, they will consider many factors before they will consider that uncle to be a genuine sponsor for real. Why is he sponring you? How many dependant does he have? How about his business when he blow all the money on you? And finally, an asset and fixed deposit may not stand in place of raw financial sustainability, instead it may be regarded as a economic tie to home country. I just want you to make sense of all the above and consider strengthening your own personal account or that of the sponsor. Also, encouraging him to pay your 1 year tution while your 1year upkeep remains in your account may further help your case. Kindly remember that I'm not a guru, I'm just providing an insight and I wish you all the luck |

2. I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on your current employment situation
3. I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on I don't believe you have sufficient and available financial resources without working in Canada to pay tuition fees...

Luckymama: Reasons for refusal were the same generic reasons: 1. Not convinced I will leave Canada based on current employment status. 2. Not convinced I have enough funds.
Sponsor (close relative with same surname) is a business man. He has transferred the entire tuition and upkeep for the 1st year into my account since January. Supported with his business account with very healthy inflow and outflow of over 50m each month, and his personal account with over 40m balance. So I don’t know what other funds are required. Hi Luckymama, I know you are one of the experienced contributors on this platform. However, I want to lend you a second person insight. The financial aspect, remember that you are a mature applicant and you are married. I presuppose you attached your own SOA aside from the fund coming from your supposed sponsor? I also assumed you attached your personal or family asset details to substantiate that you are financially grounded in your home country. From the family perspective, I think your husband would have been the most suitable sponsor sponsor, but then, since he is not a sponsor, I believe you should provide evidence of his financial capability to be called upon in case you need more than budgeted. Look at it from the point of view that the VO is not fully convinced about the future intention of this third party sponsor- in that case, your husband will be the next to be accessed. Also, I have read a comment by Frank on this platform where the VO only considered the applicant sponsors SOA (a company SOA with huge money) and refused the application even thou the applicant includes the sponsors personal statement. I sincerely hope you get the gist |

Naijaforeigner: Don't be sorry for asking questions bro.
That's all lies. Many international students travel back to their country once they are done with their program. On completion of your program, PGWP application takes 3 -4 months. So many students spend that time in their country to chill and then come back to Canada close to when their PGWP will be ready and it has no -ve effect on your PR. The most important thing is for your visa to be valid upon return to Canada.
While having your programs, you are also allowed to travel. I travelled to USA last year and yes I will be in Nigeria towards the end of the year when it is very safe to travel. Lots of international students go to USA for summer/spring breaks.
However, don't leave Canada to Nigeria while still a student except you have a very good reason. Those immigration officials at POE will ask you funny questions when returning. Thanks so much bro, I'm well educated with your kind explanation. Very appreciated! |

Ivygive: Hi Yang, your question caught my attention and I would like to contribute and motivate you.
You see, getting a supervisor is a very demanding hustle. But in the end, it is always worth it. I was in your shoes of searching for a supervisor, to be honest, I spent more than 6months sending proposals, write up, and all, but no, it didn't work out.
But you know why it didn't work out? Because I haven't find a school that was meant for me. And when I found what is mine, the process was very simple and easy. I exchanged a conversation with the Prof and I sealed his interest the same day. I thought I was dreaming!
My advice for you is simple, keep trying, keep keeping up, be hopeful and trust the process.
Take note of this very vital stuffs when reaching out to your potential supervisor. No generic emails Read their interest, read their publications, get some information about their current projects and what their current students are working on. Look for a supervisor that is currently searching for students, you will find this information on their personal webpage Try to have customize your first message, very important. Attach your RESUME and transcript. If you have a very strong background in a course that is related to the supervisors area of interest, mention it, boost about it. Most importantly, find a supervisor whose interest fits well with yours. If you have any publications, talk about it, and make sure you have an online directory for your papers..
Good luck.
Hi I followed these steps from the previous thread and they were really helpful but I haven't been successful either. I'm applying for either a masters or PhD in construction related fields but the schools are limited. Concordia and University of Alberta are the likely institutions but I haven't gotten response. Instead it's the colleges that have such courses. Please what do you advise. I was denied that year for applying for a PGDc having a masters in construction management already. Please guys any suggestions. Considering that your proposed course is being offered in limited schools, that means there will be very limited professors available and more fewer willing to take students. Now what should you do? If you want it so badly, you need to do something really unique. You gotta stand out in result, research, packaging, and of course, in GRACE! Firstly do you meet the minimum requirements of these schools? Do you have a direct interest in the research scope of some of the professors? Assuming you met the above, now begin to do things differently. Connect with the potential profs on research network, such as Google scholars, researchgate and others. Build connection by commenting and appraising their publications. I recommend you read, critique, and give a future-oriented summary of their publications. And finally, express your interest in working on similar areas. You may just be lucky! |
