Court should jail those disobeying its order on Zakzaky, wife’s release - Fayose Ekiti State Governor and Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum, Mr Ayodele Fayose has urged the judiciary to continue to be courageous and see to it that officials of the federal government that are disobeying court orders, especially the Federal High Court, Abuja judgement, ordering the release of the leader of the Shi’ite Muslim sect, Ibrahim Zakzaky and his wife Malama Zeenah Ibraheem are jailed. The governor, who praised the judiciary for standing firm in defence of the rule of law, said; “the federal government must proof to the whole world that Ibrahim Zakzaky is still alive by releasing him as ordered by the court.” Speaking through his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Governor Fayose said the filing of notice of contempt proceedings against the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and the Director General of Department of State Services (DSS) over the disobedience of a court order for Zakzaky’s release was a step in the right direction. Justice Gabriel Kolawole of the Federal High Court, Abuja had on December 2, 2016 awarded a cumulative sum of N50 million to the Zakzakys and ordered the AGF and IGP to provide him a new accommodation and security in any part of Kaduna or Northern region that they prefer within 45 days, but 60 days after, the judgment is yet to be obeyed. Governor Fayose, who described as wicked and inhuman, the continued detention of Zakzaky and his wife since December 2015, after the murder of over 300 of his followers; said; “It is even more ridiculous that the DSS claimed that its refusal to release the cleric and his wife was to protect them. The governor said; “Obviously, the DSS must be hiding something on this Zakzaky matter because it does not make sense for an agency of government to keep someone in detention for over one year and claim that he is being protected. Against what are they protecting a man who wants his freedom?” Governor Fayose reminded Nigerians that he had said that the federal government won’t obey the judgment; saying that the APC led federal government was the number one law breaker in the country. He said; "Like Justice Kolawole’s judgment, which ordered the release of Zakzaky and his wife is for posterity, committing those disobeying the judgment to prison will also be on record even if they don’t obey it, and when one day, sanity returns to our body polity, Nigerians will have it on record those who ruled their country like a fiefdom.” Describing the continuous disobedience to court orders by the federal government as direct invitation to anarchy, the governor said; “Even the military still obeyed court judgements but here we are with a democratically elected government that holds our constitution with contempt. "The judiciary must therefore have to remain steadfast in its uphold of the rule of law, by punishing those treating the court with contempt so as to save democracy from being destroyed by those presently holding the country by the jugular and do not want anyone that is not in the same political camp with them to exist.” |
An Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court, yesterday, ordered the remand of one Momodu Rebo, 19, and Isiaka Idris, 22, in prison custody over alleged destruction of farm crops. Police prosecutor, Mr. Samson Osobu, said the accused and others now at large, committed the offence on January 11 at Apoto farm settlement, Eporo, Emure-Ekiti. He said police recovered guns and other offensive weapons from the accused. He said that the offence is contrary to Section 4 (1) of Prohibition of Cattle and other Ruminant Grazing in Ekiti State Laws, 2016, and punishable under Section 11 of the Ekiti State Kidnap and Terrorism (Prohibition) Law, 2015. Chief Magistrate Idowu Ayenimo remanded the accused in prison custody, till the outcome of advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions, DPP, and adjourned the case to January 27. |
Twenty one (21) senators currently receiving pensions from government as ex-governors and deputy governors. The current senators who once served ar governors are Bukola Saraki,Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso,Kabiru Gaya,Godwill Akpabio,Theodore Orji,Abdullahi Adamu,Sam Egwu,Shaaba Lafiaji,Joshua Dariye,Jonah Jang,Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko,Ahmed Sani Yarima,Danjuma Goje,Bukar Abba Ibrahim,Adamu Aliero,George Akume,Isiaka Adeleke. The former deputy governors in the senate are Ms Biodun Olujimi,Enyinaya Harcourt Abaribe.Danladi Abubakar Sani served as the acting governor of Taraba. Many former governors are also in Buhari's cabinet as ministers. This includes: Ngige,Fayemi,Fashola (SAN) and Amaechi. In Akwa Ibom state, the law provides that ex-governors and deputy governors receive pension equivalent to the salaries of the incumbent. The package also includes a new official car and security utility vehicle every four years: one personal aid;a cook, chauffeurs and security guards for the governor at a sum not exceeding #5m per month and #2.1m for his deputy governor. In Rivers, the law provides 100% of annual basic salaries for the ex-governor and his deputy governor, one residential house for the former governor "anywhere of his choice in Nigeria";one residential house anywhere in Rivers for the deputy, three cars for ex-govenor every four years and two cars for the deputy every four years. It is alledged that in Lagos, a former governor will get two houses, one in Lagos and another in Abuja, estimated at #5 00m in Lagos and #700m in Abuja. He also receives six new cars to be replaced every three years, and a #30m pension annually for life. This is reality for all the 21 ex-governors and deputy governors who are currently serving as senators. This same is also true of ex-governors who are now serving as ministers. NOW I ASK: How many years did these guys serve their states as governors and deputy governors? Is it more than 8years? Is that a reason to be entitled to pensions for life? Even if they are entitled to pension for life, must it be outrageous? As if that is not enough: How on earth can any public servant with conscience collect salaries and allowances as a senator or minister, and still have the audacity to claim pensions equivalent to the salaries of a serving governor in Nigeria? IT ISN'T ROCKET SCIENCE..... Once you are elected a senator or appointed a minister, you must forfeit any pension accruing to you from government at any level until you vacate office. This should also apply to senators collecting military pensions like David Mark. Yet these senators are in the senate that is inviting the current finance minister to discuss the recession of Nigeria's economy. A senator pocket approximately #30m monthly as salary and allowances. Our "honourables" are not interested to make laws that could restructure our country into economically autonomous federating states/Regions to save the coumtry from sectional agitations that threatning to destroy Nigeria. The sad and hopeless situation is that the rest of Nigerians are busy arguing based on party, ethnic and affiliations while these enemies of state continue to rape us. Do you know that it costs tax payers #290m yearly to maintain each member of our National Assembly in a country where nothing works and 80% of population earn below 300 naira a day ? A working day earning of a senator is more than a yearly income of a doctor; its more than the salary of 42 army generals or 48 professor or 70 commissioners of police or more than twice the pay of the US president or 9times the salary of US congressmen. Please say NO to looting of Nigeria in the name of democracy. I think the country must have a referendum on salaries of senators: This must happen very fast quickly. If the government can we the masses must revolve and this is the right time. |
@phemy36, it's unfortunate you have been brainwashed to spew the trash you have just posted. The moment you see any of these present day politicians as your savior, you're finished. Imagine the poor grammar you just vomited here. The children of Any of these politicians you are ignorantly defending would not speak the kind of poor grammar you displayed here because they went to better schools, eat good food, and live in good environment, while you roam the streets. And all the money they use to do these is tax-payers' money- our commonwealth. And there you're telling me if anyone questions Fayose, you would mobilize other touts in your domain to attack him. Did you listen to yourself? Don't you have a life? Are you not a human being like the politicians and their children? Or are you a second- grade, second-hand human being? Why such high level of inferiority complex? You talk as if you're a slave. I'm a true-born of Ekiti. I'm raised to play, reason, live and work at the same level with my peers. Back in schools, some of us were even better than some of the so called politicians and their children. Maybe, it's because of someone like you I was inspired to write the piece, Politician Are Servants. Read it, and have a re-think, or remain as slave forever! They need to know It's embarrassing the way people polarize every argument along political lines. Let me make it clear here and now, we are not all politicians. I'm not a politician. I'm a seeker of good governance. So, I don't see any politician as my role model. I don't see politicians as Demi-gods. So, I don't worship them. I see them as Servants of the masses. Because that's what they told us they wanna be when they came to ask for our votes. And if they don't serve well, I criticize them. Some of us have better jobs and even receive better salaries than some of the so called politicians. We respect their office, though. But if they abuse the office, we criticize them. We recommend them for investigation and prosecution. And if found guilty, they should be sent to jail, like any other criminals. It's ridiculous the way some people, who even live below poverty line, worship these politicians. It could only be due to two reasons: either lack of self-esteem or absolute ignorance. In Nigeria today, politicians are our worst enemies. They keep deceiving the masses. They work on their psychic. They eat corn with you by the road side. You go home happy with bloated tummy, In one of my write-ups, on Nairaland , in June 10, 2016, I posited that politicians are liabilities, and not assets. See the write up below. So it's embarrassing when I express my view, and some political jobbers begin to present oral diarrhea. These political jobbers should allow us to talk to our Servants. We need to put them on their toes. The money they spend is our collective money. Their lives, their families and their businesses survive on tax payers' money. Their sustenance depend on our commonwealth. Some of them were even poor, jobless, and of little education before we gave them the opportunity to serve us. They should be grateful to us. They should even worship us! They are our servants! So, they are accountable to us. That's my mentality. Your post show ur level of maturity. I don't want to reply your post before but change my mind. If you are matured, you will not abuse the person you don't know on public forum created for effective communication by a being like you to prove a point. I rearly comment on this forum because of your type. If you care to know, i was trainned by a professor & was train on how to relate with others and to also respect their sense of judgement which you absolutely lack. If you are wise, you will simply counter my point without insulting to show that you know much. Read what you wrote again and reply me back if it does not contain error. I'm not a politician, so save the trash you wrote for you & your child. For your information, i'm very close to most ekiti politician & know the happening in their mist, they are all friends and do have a meet point, unlike you. Note: if any of your generation graduate with the grade i graduated with in mathematics dept. (OAU), You will appreciate God. Lastly, can you intelligently answer the question i post to you in my first comment. |
Silvofitz:. Either u are not 4rm ekiti or u are a politician or trying to play smart on ur integrity not ekiti people's own. Because ekiti people's i no reason logically not emotionally. I'm 4rom orin ekiti in ido/osi local govt, so don't ask if i'm 4rm ekiti. I have few question 4 u. 1. Do u write anything related to dis when fayemi carted away some money 4rm ekiti purse. If no, u are an hypocrate. because i was in ekiti wen he bought 50million bed. 2. Did efcc acused fayose of looting ekiti money. Ans is no. They acuse him of financing his campaign wit d part of d money meant 4 arm's deal which he denied. 3. If fayose is gulty y can't dey wait til he complete his tenure. We no apc as a troublesome party dat like to go tru back door to d govt, dat is d reason of d counter protest u are seeing to show dem we are not a fool. Ekiti people are well informed about the happening in d state, we love, cherish & to some extend trust ourself,we rearly betray ourself except political stuf,we are discipline, stuborn, we are not like other southwesterner dat can be deceived tru paper & dat can also betray their own at a slighted oppotunity.forget propaganda. Ekiti we stand by fayose at all time. We wil not sacrify him on d alter of politice to please hausa/fulani man. We are watching. Wen it happen apc member wil suffer it most because dey are d one ekiti people wil attack, dat is d reason u never hear segun oni, tunde adeniran, kayode fayemi, babalola borisade, c .k awoyelu, ayo arise etc attacking him because dey no wot ekiti are capable of doing. Alale ekiti agbe a lule loke. |
I said it in a previous thread that real ekiti man not politician will support fayose. You can deceived d gullible one but not majority of well informed ekiti indigene. We are not a bastard. Real ekiti man is always ready to die 4 wot he believe. Ekiti people are special being in southwest & are not like other southwestener because we love, trust, cherish &rearly betray ourself. We wil not allow fayose to be sacrify on d alter of police to please their hausa/fulani master. kiriji/omoboriowo war is loading if care is not taking. Those u see protesting wil disapear if it get out of because their home wil be razed. We are following d issue. Alale ekiti agbe kete ra lule ati leyin odi. |
We are well informed in Ekiti, no amount of propaganda or lies can distract us. We no d amount coming in and how it was spent. If fayose mess up, we wil send him packing. Fayose pay salary 23rd of every month in his ist reign, God & him was d reason all 8 of my family were able to attend & graduate 4rm school couple wit developmental project he executed then like (ist dualisation of road in ekiti, building of governor house, fountain hotel, adetiloye hall, texile, reviving ire block, purchase of tractor distributed to orin, ayede, ikole farm settlement welfare package 4 all workers including payment of there leaves bonus, road contructing e.g ado-are- afao-ire road, ido-igbole-osì-igede road,esure-iropora road to mention but few). If ekiti is bouyant financially, fayose i know wil pay worker's salary. Things are hard in ekiti presently but we are not ignorant of d causes because he carried us along. We cannot abandon him in this time of trouble, we are not like others in southwest, we are principle, discipline, stubborn & cherish ourself,we wil never sell fayose because of an hausa man [never]. This are d reason y sensible ekiti kete son & daughter wil stand by him. Has any ekiti politician condem him aside falana that cannot win a local government if contested 4 any position in ekiti? They wil not, because it wil haunt their political career , let d drama continue, we wil show dis nation d stuf we are made of @ due time . Alale ekiti agbe a |
