etcsines:ENOCH ADEBOYE TACKLES RUGA WITH WISDOM narrates his conversation on RUGA with his mathematician friend passes power of judgment to participants RUGA: Reasonable Understanding for Gradual Advancement Pastor Enoch Adeboye of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG yesterday 31st August, 2019 at the Church Leaders Stakeholders’ Summit organised the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), displayed a rare kind of wisdom in tackling the RUGA issue that has agitated the minds of most non-Fulani Nigerians, especially in Southern Nigeria. In his keynote address at the summit which took place at Shepherdhill Baptist Church, Obanikoro, Lagos Nigeria, Adeboye responded to the proposed/suspended RUGA Settlement Programme by the Buhari administration, by narrating a conversation that took place between his friend, a mathematician and himself, during which the friend opened up on the RUGA standoff enveloping Nigeria. Adeboye said his friend is as grandiloquent as he is funny. He loves using big grammar like conviviality, probability, monstrosity, concentric, eccentric, adding that people who agree with his position are called Concentric and those who disagree with him are called Eccentric. The friend is not only grandiloquent, but also a funny man. A proof that he is funny, Adeboye said, is his contention that when nursing mothers refused to breastfeed her child and resort to cow milk, the child ends up being a cowboy. The friend also said the problem in Nigeria is not about the North and South dichotomy, but between the wise and the foolish. On RUGA, the funny friend said, if a cow herder kills your brother and his blood spilled on the grass which is fed to the cow, and the siblings of the man killed still eat the cow that fed on the grass on which the blood was spilled, they are as guilty as the cow herder. The funny friend, according to Adeboye said, if a cow herder kills your brother and the following day you are still seen eating suya by the cow herder, you are foolish because you are assisting the cow herder to march on. The funny friend still contends that RUGA means Reasonable Understanding for Gradual Advancement and this is succinctly displayed in what is happening in Nigeria. The funny friend said “the cow that is eating in your backyard will gradually advance into your bedroom. Very soon, you will be drinking water from the river that has been polluted by the droppings of the cow. Adeboye said his friend went ahead to show him what the white man said about red meat. Red meat is not good for the body and the first source of red meat is the cow, followed by goat and then ram. He said the best meat for you is the fish and you find it everywhere in any village. Why eat cow meat then? The pastor then assisted his friend to throw a challenge to people at the summit: “Those of you who agree with my friend should say Yea…” to which the whole participant shouted YEAAA. “Those who disagree with my friend should say “NO”. There was a pin drop silence and Pastor Enoch Adeboye stepped down from the podium. Earlier, Adeboye had warned that he only came to narrate a conversation between his friend and himself, and he would not want anybody to say he is the author of the conversation, to which everybody laughed. |

Cutezt:the fool, selfish and wicked among us I have listened to the expression of regrets by some of those who supported the emergence of General Muhammadu Buhari in 2015, especially someone like Oga Dele Momodu, a seasoned journalist and I have found it difficult to excuse their foolishness, selfishness and wickedness. I have wondered how they expected Buhari, a known ethnic champion and tyrant to change at close to 80 years. I will cite four reasons I am convinced that those supporters of Buhari, especially the ones who experienced him as military head of state only supported his return as President just because of their personal foolishness, wickedness and most importantly, selfish ambition to have access to power and the benefits of it. #ONE In 1985, instead of supporting the confirmation of Dr Peter Onu of Nigeria, who was acting Secretary General of OAU, Buhari supported the Niger Republic candidate, Idi Omaro, a Fulani Muslim. In a meeting, a handful of Presidents led by Julius Nyerere of Tanzania met with Buhari and begged him to support Dr Peter Onu for the post of OAU Secretary General, Buhari refused. When the Idi Omaro emerged, Buhari rejoiced to such a degree that he was unable to control his emotions. #TWO Buhari's first wife was Safinatu. The marriage produced five children, Zulaihat, Fatima, Musa, Hadiza, and Safinatu. Musa however died at infancy, while Zulaihat died of sickle cell anemia after giving birth in 2012. After his removal from office, Buhari on August 27, 1985, Buhari was placed under house arrest in Benin for three years. When Buhari was released in 1988, one of the first things he did was to divorce Safinatu for allegedly visiting Babangida to seek help for her sick daughter. When Safinatu died from complications of diabetes on 14 January 2006, Buhari did not attend the burial. Now fast forward to 2015, when Buhari needed Babangida's help to become President, he visited the former military president in Minna. #THREE On October 13, 2000, Buhari led some Arewa Consultative Forum leaders to Ibadan, Oyo State to confront the then Governor Lam Adesina over alleged killings of Fulani cattle rearers in Saki, Oke Ogun Area of the state. Buhari's question to Lam Adesina then was; “why are your people (Yoruba) killing my people (Fulani)” when indeed the attack on the Fulani herdsmen, which led to the death of five herdsmen was aftermath of the killing of many Yoruba farmers in Oyo state. Indeed, private citizen Buhari was very angry that Fulani herdsmen were killed in Oyo State then, and he showed his anger by speaking sternly to the then Governor, Lam Adeshina. Now I ask, as President of Nigeria, did Buhari display such anger when thousands of Agatu people were killed in Benue State by suspected herdsmen? Even when the former IGP that he ordered to relocate to Benue State disobeyed his order and stayed in Abuja, did Buhari take any disciplinary action against him? In all the cases of killings in the country by suspected Fulani herdsmen, has Buhari shown the same anger he displaced in Ibadan on October 13, 2000? #FOUR The Council of State meeting is presided over by a sitting president, and attended by all former Heads of State. After losing the 2003 Presidential election, Buhari announced to Nigerians that he will not participate in the Council of State meetings until after ruling on his petition challenging the outcome of the election. In 2011, he did the same thing saying; "I will wait for the outcome of the case before I decide on my membership of the Council. "After the 2003 elections, I stopped attending the council meeting because we had challenged the outcome of the election that brought Gen. Olusegun Obasanjo to power." Indeed, Buhari never attended the Council of State meetings even after the Supreme Court ruled that he duly lost the 2011 election. It was only in late January 2015 that he attended the Council of State meeting where it was decided that the general elections be rescheduled to allow the military enough time to reclaim some areas lost to Boko Haram in the North East. After the meeting, Buhari reacted so angrily to the elections postponement that it was obvious that he only attended the Council of State meeting to prevent the postponement. The implication of Buhari's action is that between May 29, 2011 and January 2015, Buhari never accepted Goodluck Jonathan as the President of Nigeria even after the Supreme Court held that he was duly elected. He also did not accept Obasanjo as President between 2003 and 2007. So the likes of Oga Dele Momodu expected a Buhari, who in 1985 preferred Idi Omaro from Niger Republic to Dr Peter Onuh, a Nigerian as OAU Secretary General to have suddenly changed to a nationalist in 2015? They expected a Buhari, who divorced his first wife in 1988 for allegedly visiting Babangida, but was comfortable visiting the same Babangida in 2015 to seek support for his Presidential ambition to have changed from being selfish? In their own understanding of the saying that a leopard can never change its spots, they believed that a man who as former Head of State, went to fight ethnic battle in Ibadan on October 13, 2000, will act in the interest of all Nigerians? With their level of education and exposure, they believed that a Buhari, who refused to attend Council of State meetings just because he lost election was the best to rule the country? Like I have maintained, let those who out of their foolishness, selfishness and wickedness brough Buhari to power stop disturbing us with their tales of woe. Rather, they should continue to enjoy the benefits of their misadventure while waiting for their other colleagues to face the consequences of their support for the wicked and selfish soon. Share by Olalere Olayinka Obasanjo, Soyinka, others should enjoy their Buhari quietly Lere Olayinka I can excuse 40 year old Nigerians and below for voting Buhari in 2015 because they never really experienced a General Buhari between 1984 and 1985. Unlike the likes of Obasanjo and Prof Soyinka who witnessed what Buhari turned Nigeria to within one year as Military Head of State and still supported him in 2015 just because they hated Goodluck Jonathan. As at December 31, 1983 that Buhari truncated democracy and forced himself on Nigeria, the entire States in the Southwest, including Kwara State had TOTAL FREE EDUCATION and FREE HEALTH. Then, the only thing my mother needed while taking me to Agbonna Comprehensive Hospital in Okemesi Ekiti were clean EMPTY BOTTLES to take free syrups. As a student of Fabunmi Memorial Grammar School in Okemesi Ekiti then, the only item I needed to go to school were School Uniforms and DESK (because the school was new and the desks belonged to us). Textbooks and writing materials, including exercise books and mathematical sets were given to us free. What did Buhari do when he assumed power? He cancelled the free education and free health. He introduced N20 Levy per term and many students dropped out. Not only that, Buhari went ahead to accuse the likes of Ajasin, Bola Ige, Bisi Onabanjo, Jakande, Ambrose Ali, Bisi Akande, etc of fraud, sentencing some of them to as much as 200 years imprisonment! Till today, I have not seen any governor that beat the records of those UPN governors who ruled the Southwest States and Edo (then Bendel). It was under four years as governor of the old Ondo State that Ajasin established Oluwa Glass, Okitipupa Oil Palm, ROMACO in Igbemo, Ire Bricks, Ifon Ceramics, Ondo State University (now Ekiti State University), Ondo State Polytechnic, Owo (now Rufus Giwa Polytechnic) among others. Yet, Buhari rewarded Ajasin with corruption trials. In Lagos, there was no adequate classrooms before Jakande became governor in 1979. This prompted the operation of Primary and Secondary schools in Lagos on SHIFT basis. School "Alaaro (morning) ati Olosan (afternoon). Jakande solved this problem within six months by building makeshift classrooms in all the schools. Lagos State University, Lagos Television, Jakande Estates (in various locations), many roads are to the credit of Jakande's four years as governor of Lagos state. Of importance is the Lagos Metroline network initiated by Jakande then. The Metroline project was scrapped in 1985 by Buhari and he went ahead to pay compensation to the French company that handled it. Buhari’s action cost Lagosians over $78 million then. If Buhari had not cancelled the metroline project out of vendetta, transportation problems in Lagos would have been solved permanently. The metroline project would have made life easier and changed the face of transport in Lagos. All these were known to Obasanjo, Soyinka and others when they went on the rooftops, campaigning for Buhari in 2015. So I ask, what has changed? Absolutely nothing! President Muhammadu Buhari is still the same as General Muhammadu Buhari who wrecked Nigeria between 1984 and 1985. He is still the same ethnic champion who led leaders of Arewa Consultative Forum to the Governor’s Office, Ibadan on October 13, 2001, to challenge the government of Late Lam Adesina, on its perceived unfair treatment meted to the Fulani in Oke-Ogun, Oyo state. Buhari is still the same sectional leader, who told Lam Adesina then that; "We are here to complain about your people (Yoruba) killing our people (Fulani)." He has never acted like a nationalist and the likes of Obasanjo and Soyinka cannot tell Nigerians that they were unaware of this before they took that selfish decision they took in 2015. They hated Goodluck Jonathan, and translated that hatred to love for Buhari when there were other liberal minded and nationalistic Hausas and Fulanis that they could have supported to be president. After all, Yar'Adua was a Fulani man too. Today, they are now on the same rooftops where they campaigned for Buhari to speak against him and I ask them, were they expecting Lucifer to preach the Gospel of Our Lord Jesus Christ? Methinks these intending WAILERS should quietly enjoy the benefits of the ants infested woods that they roofed their houses with and stop troubling the House of Wailers with their Ekun Egbere. My name is Lere Olayinka, I am enjoying my life at the topmost part of Oke Agbonna in Okemesi Ekiti with the Irunmales. If you are tired of this NEXT LEFU, you can come and join me. |
May God save us in this country. It has get out of hands. It is a pity Some gullible people are still supporting this devil government |

AbuuBilaal:Can you see what am saying he's an Hausa man trying to divide us. His true being when he sees that not a single Yoruba person in this forum supported him. They have an agenda. It will not succeed |
AbuuBilaal:You are a lair. You are not a Yoruba man, but one of those Hausa imposter sent to divide Yoruba's land through propaganda. It won't work. You will fail. You and Benkuru or what is it call will fail. In Yoruba's land individual can own a large land, it is either family land or community's land. |
Truthsbitter:Best advice. I respect you sir. You must be a councillor |
flexyrule:You are a small boy. You don't know anything about relationship. You reason one way. Learn to judge from both side. Deal with issue with wisdom. I solve issues between old couple without offending any. Learn how to balance issue |
daddytime:What is your problem Mr man. You are taking another man's issue so personal, be reasonable. If you can't advice him, let him be. From your post it is obvious you are aggressive in nature and you are a type that judge through sentiment and is not good because you will not be able to offer a quality advice. Don't force the girl on him, you just need to guild him, he might end up married her if you guild him on how to solve the problem not condeming him.I understand what the man is going through, I'm into similar situation. |
