I am shocked to see that in this digital age, a national television station is still using banner and plywood as backdrop on LIVE set. Nigeria, na who do us? |
The embarrassing incident put the life of the woman in danger and left her injured in the process. A presenter working for the Nigerian Television Authority was made to flee for her life after a wooden backdrop fell on her live on television. The incident happened while she was reading the news. Segun is a 35-year-old teacher who ran to loan apps as a last resort to survive the pandemic. He talks about servicing loans from multiple apps on a teacher’s salary and the lessons he has learnt in this process. How did your misadventure with loan apps start? It all started during the lockdown in 2020. I was a class teacher at the time, so we were at home and out of work. I needed money for the upkeep of my home and my pregnant wife. I tried asking everybody I could for financial aid, but no one could help me. That was when a friend advised me to try a loan app. I was desperate, so I went searching for them. Eventually, I settled for one and borrowed from there. How much was this loan? I borrowed ₦20k. And how much was your salary as a class teacher? It was also ₦20k. Wow. When the time came for me to pay back, I couldn’t. I wasn’t working, so there was no way for me to actually make the money to pay. And the thing about loan apps is that you pay a large interest when returning the money. You also get fined if you miss a repayment day. What did you do? At this same time, unfortunately, my colleague had given me some money to keep for him. About ₦30k. It was that money I decided to use to pay back the loan. When I finally paid the loan, three weeks had passed. I paid ₦27k. A whole 7k extra? Yes. But this was just the beginning. Now I had to pay back the money I ‘borrowed’ from my colleague. I still wasn’t working yet, so where could I have gotten the money? As a last resort, I found myself going back to that same loan app to borrow the money I took from my colleague. The vicious cycle… Yes. If you don’t repay on time, these apps threaten to publish your name or send messages to your family and friends. I didn’t want my image to be tarnished, so I took more money from funds that were left in my care. Oh no! Just like that, my misfortune started. When it was time to pay back the owner of the money, I went back to a loan app. My debts compounded to the point that I was using multiple loan apps at the same time. I would go to another loan app to get money to pay that off. How much debt were you servicing at this point? By this time, the amount was ₦150,000. I had been doing this back and forth for about two years already. As of 2022, I was still battling with them. It got to the point where I had to go to my cooperative to borrow money to pay the loan. Money I could have used for a business opportunity. Then I went back to the loan apps to pay back the cooperative. After a while, I realised I was going in circles. So I decided enough was enough. How did you stop? I just stopped borrowing from one loan app to pay another. The only way to get out of this problematic cycle was to ignore all the loan deadlines no matter what, and focus on paying them back gradually. I’ve accepted that I owe money, and I’ll pay as soon as it’s possible. Right now, I wait till the end of every month, then pay off what I can. If I can offset just ₦10k, then so be it. I’ll pay it this way until I finish. If I keep thinking of my debt, it might cause problems to my health. How much is left? I currently have three loans I’m servicing. One is ₦30K, the other is ₦40k and the last one is ₦50k. How are you able to pay off these loans on a class teacher salary? I’ve transitioned from class teacher to freelance lesson teacher. I teach phonics in four schools, and I make almost 5 times what I used to earn. That makes it easier. Do they harass you with calls? Of course they do. But I know their numbers so I don’t pick up. I have no money to give them na. What about your family? Are they protected from this? I have a wife and a kid. And my wife knows everything that has been going on. She understands that I didn’t borrow the money to spend lavishly. It was for our family. So we’re working through it together. What did you learn from this? Ah! I’ve learnt my lesson. I used to recommend loan apps to people because I thought they were my saving grace when I needed emergency funds. But it turns out that loan apps have only brought disaster. Unless it’s do or die, I would not advise anybody to borrow money from loan apps. Especially if you can’t pay it off immediately. Assuming I didn’t go online to borrow money, all these things would not happen to me. Now I’m using money I should use to cater for my family and invest in a small business to pay off loans. What are your own experience with this loan guys?

This is so low and debasing of Sanwo Olu and APC. Why do they suddenly like talking calmly and even giving generously (peanuts) to the people? I thought they have all the structures to remain in power with or without your VOTES. All I know is that I see new Nigeria COMING, where parties and structures of criminalities and enslavement with be dismantled. It is only a matter of when. NOTE: I like Sanwo Olu's regime in Lagos, apart from the thuggery issues with APC, I believe he doesn't need all this to win the election. Why is he afraid? There are people who will vote for him in Lagos, not minding the APC woes on Nigerians. |

The family of the detained Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has urged members of the public to disregard rumours claiming that the IPOB leader has been poisoned. Naija News recalls that a voice note making the rounds on social media claimed that Kanu had been poisoned in detention, urging ‘Biafrans’ to go on a rampage in protest. Reacting to the voice note, a younger brother to the IPOB leader, Prince Emmanuel told Vanguard that he met with his Kanu last Thursday at the Abuja headquarters of the Department of State Services (DSS) where he is currently detained and there was no indication that he had suffered from such an ordeal. He maintained that the embattled activist did not inform him that he was poisoned when they met last Thursday but promised that he would find out more about the situation when they meet on Monday, January 30, Kanu’s brother wondered how the story of the alleged poisoning began and cautioned against fake news. He subsequently warned Kanu’s supporters again taking the matter into their hands but to remain calm as he hoped to see and hear from his brother again on Monday. Kanu’s brother had posted on his Facebook page the outcome of Thursday’s meeting with him. The post read: ” I Met with Mazi Nnamdi Kanu in the company of Evangelist, and Barr Nnaemeka Ejiofor, at Department of State Services, Abuja. “As always, we focused more on victories recorded and the way forward. He maintained that this struggle for liberation remains a collective fight and thanked those who have not betrayed the struggle. “He said Nigeria has continuously flouted the orders of her own court and such will never be tolerated in IPOB. Those who attack this noble structure were not there when it was built and can never be brought down “This movement is divine. To me, IPOB is a huge achievement for our people and for men and women of good conscience . We have come that humanity may be set free”. CONGREGANTS walked out in protest when their prophet, who dumped his wife of 18 years, officially introduced his young new wife to them in Chitungwiza on Sunday. Ezekiel Masiyandima, 44, of Ebenezer Prophetic Ministries, paraded his lobola team and introduced 21-year-old congregant, Melania Madamombe, as his new wife. Masiyandima dumped his wife, Portia Chiwanga, 38, following a misunderstanding over allegations of juju use by him. Masiyandima reportedly paid lobola for Melania over the weekend. “He paid lobola for Melania over the weekend and invited one of his close friends, Charles Takavengwa, to officialise the union before his congregants,” said a source. Melania told H-Metro that she need permission first to respond to inquiries. “Wait, I will get back to you after seeking permission,” she said. Masiyandima would neither confirm nor deny the new marriage. However, his affectionate pictures of him kissing Melania in front of his congregation was proof enough that Portia’s front seat had been taken. However, the official introduction of Melania and their lovey-dovey behaviour in front of the congregation did not amuse some church members, who walked out in disgust. Some members were reportedly not happy with Masiyandima’s decision to dump Portia for one of their young congregants, arguing that he was setting a bad example, especially as a church leader. Masiyandima has also allegedly shut the door for his children, with sources saying he fears Portia would use them to invent a case against him. I believe it is time we call out these Nigerian Banks, as they cannot say they do not know how people's money is disappearing from their accounts. This is becoming so annoying |
A young Nigerian lady has cried out about a huge sum of money that was deducted from her bank account by fraudsters. She said more than N4 million was transferred from her account without her authorisation in separate transactions. According to her, the first amount of N3.7 million was transfered from her account to another bank and moments later N222,900 was also transferred to the same account. She said it did not end there because shortly after, another N102,000 was also deducted, leaving only N12k balance in the account. The customer, who said she is a former employee of the bank, said it was on her staff account that the fraudulent transaction happened. She called on her bank to return to the money and said that her card was not stolen or misplaced and she visited the receiving bank to file a complaint but was told that the money has been removed from the account. She said that if her money is not refunded she will visit the bank and cause a scene because she does not have any other money. Watch video below:

Pastor Benny Hinn, a well-known Israeli Christian televangelist, posted a video on Facebook in which he apologized to his followers for giving them wrong information about how to get rich, plant seeds, and sell the gospel. The pastor says that he doesn’t want to be turned away from heaven on the last day while asking all Christians to forgive him. He then said that he had been trying to say something for a long time but couldn’t. Pastor Benny Hinn says in the video, “The body must be out of the way for people to get to Heaven on the last day.” This is a message that makes you feel good. I’m sorry to say that prosperity has gone a little crazy this time, and I’d like to fix my own theology about prosperity gospels, planting seeds, and making money off the gospel. When I read the Bible 20 years ago, I didn’t see it the same way I do now. “My father-in-was law’s one that the magazine would usually publish.” After marrying his daughter, I got it as a gift. It was a way to make money off of the gospel. When we sell these things for money, we hurt the Holy Spirit. “I’m done with the prosperity gospel and making the gospel into a business,” he said. “This is the first time I’ve ever said this, and I don’t care what other people think of me anymore.” I know that many people won’t invite me anymore, but that’s okay with me. On the last day, I don’t want to be turned down. Don’t give if you’re not doing it because you love Jesus. “Giving makes me feel sick to my stomach, and now that I’m done with it, I don’t want to hear anything about planting seeds.” I’m sorry that I’ve been teaching wrong for so many years. Please forgive me and don’t listen to what I say about getting rich and planting seeds. Criteria for safest state The data analysis agencies based their stats on the state with the lesser number of deaths caused by insecurity for the year 2022. Surprisingly, the list contained five northern states, four southwest states and three south-south states. The chart was topped by Ekiti state in the southwestern part of Nigeria which recorded only 6 deaths in 2022 as a result of insecurity. Shockingly, another southwest state (Oyo) completed the log and recorded the highest number of deaths (46) by violence.
