Update!!

This morning, I had to deliver eggs to one of my customers, I loaded the truck and i drove off.. I was on the drive when a strange number called and it happened to be the guy's aunt. She said she was calling to ask for my account details just like my guy instructed her to do.. So I texted her my bank details and I've gotten an alert for 2.5m so she called back and said that was how much he asked her to transfer to me and if I was skeptical or something I could ask him directly... Now that's funny..

But I'm happy he paid back.. By the way, my farm is in ogun, its pretty big and this December, I'm gonna share eggs and some cash randomly.. It's been another good year with sales on the farm, I might not be popular, but I'd still give back.. Now that's my style

When all these mentions you get dies down, I will reach out to you. I have always loved agriculture and would love to start someting next year.. I have saved quite some amount.

i read every word u typed on this topic, many flawed perspective and expressions of yours. If i am to reply every post if urs on this issue, you will get tired of reading; but take this from me; You come off to me as Brilliant but not intelligent and far from smart
i overcame the temptation to reply earlier posts of urs but this one really off me cool.

a driver tells u d truth to get 2,450, but tells a lie to get 2,100(+1,000)=3,100, taking both your 65% and his supposed 35%

yet,u say he loses by lying to u...smh

Business is run successfully not by theoretical approach, but on Very practical and analytical approach.
Peeps who av had practical experience in this business are showing u the loopholes in your model, u keep emphasizing on the *fool-proof* word.

Merely reading your posts, i can very well understand your thought pattern, you will be so easy to scam; coz u will let Paranoia and ego get in the way of objective reasoning. To scam ppl like u requires one medicine: To make u bliv u are in control
u are so right

I haven't read everything, infact I didn't read the genesis of this new idea but I like your energy, determination and commitment.

It is not easy to come up with a system, so I say kudos to you for your new developed system.

Whether it will work or not, is entirely a new challenge but you need to test all your hypothesis, get feedback, improve your system and continuously learn during the course of implementing your new idea.

It's a welcome development but would it scale?

I like business idea that's scalable? Talk about economy of scale and volume?

If it takes too much energy to manage a single drive, what would it take to manage a fleet of drivers.

If I have 10 cars in the system, it means I have to recruit other personnel to manage some aspect of the new system? That to me is unnecessary additional cost?

Let stop talking about assumption? Give me real figures and let us do comparative analysis vis-in-vis current system.

Let this your new idea be test run and come back to do a comprehensive comparative analysis?

Godspeed.

The truth is that. I had just a mere interest (nothing solid) in the uber busines and searched on google... google brought me here.. i had to ask a question about the business... Futher questions gave the drivers the impre4ssion i was a threat to the business.

I had to look into the model. I formulated this model and improved it on the platform. I have never thought about it before now. The model is just 2 days old. smiley

Now, when they say i would fail and state the loop holes... i think of a work around and improve it.

You see until ya comment, i never planned for scalability.

but if i am to improve the model, a mechanic or 2 (depending on the num of cars) will come to my office to carry out a diagnostic report on all cars every morning or every other day. Any car the mechanic(s) reports is unfit to ply the road will not move that day (subtle penalty for reckless driving).

Now the kind of drivers i will employ are people who truly want to drive. Not youths or graduates who couldnt get their dream jobs and then resorted to becoming uber drivers.. Theres a lot of expectation from family for the latter so i understand why they wish to be boss.

I am talking about drivers who will apply to be a driver in a company. People who would actually give thanksgiving in church when they get the job.

lastly, the only i reason i want to try this out is cos these people say "I WILL FAIL".

I have never been afraid of failures. Telling me i will fail actually spurs to do that which they say i will fail on. The truth is if i didnt meet these resistance, i would be thinking of going with the 30K a week model (No motivation).

I love pessimist and realist.... they are my strength grin

If i failed, i would have failed with a gladdened heart.

Fuel is the easy bit, just get a Total fuel card.
You'll still get got though.
As you said, nothing is fool proof.

Let me ask you this, are you intentionally miscalculating to your own self, or you truly don't know?
You invest 2.2 million and break even after a year, not 2 as you say.
Here it is
At 30k per week, 52 weeks = 1,560,000
Of course you can not run 52 weeks in a year and there will be costs.
So let's remove 500,000 for downtime and repairs.
That gives us an income of is 1,060,000 after 1 year.
Add this to the value of your car after 1 year after adjusting for depreciation and inflation. Let us say your 2.2 million Naira car is now valued at 1.7m
1,700,000+1,060,000=2,760,000
On an initial capital of about 2.4m (not 2.2m because of registration, insurance costs etc)
You have a profit of 2,760,000-2,400,000
= 360,000 after 52 weeks.
So you are breaking even between weeks 40-45.
Everything approximated.

You didn't factor in repairs.

Although, I see some lapses in my model. I will recalculate. I may not get it the first time but im certain it will be worth it..

Just like I read in one of gazuzz comment, drivers might be taking shifts in the future. They will have a park where they resume for duty like a normal work place. If I wish I could make mine a real business with manager of which I will be the first manager.

Uber itself disrupted the car hailing business model.

Regardless of these comments here. I will try out my model with minimal risk with hope of failing in the first 2 months... I will learn from those months.

Key personnels related to car

Driver... All he does is drive
Mechanic.. All he does is check faults and replace parts
Parts dealer. .. All he does is give parts to an errand boy.
Errand boy... One of my bike men...

Fuel... Fuel card as someone suggested.

The driver has no business paying for anything.
His job is to drive and receive money from riders.

Every morning, he comes to my office to get the car and goes straight to the filling station. He doesn't pay the attendant cos the manager and I have had an understanding....

At the end of the day, he drives the car back to my office.

My mechanic and I would have had an understanding. He has a flat service fee regardless of the cars fault.

If a part needs replacement, I call all of auto parts dealers (will have like 5) to confirm an estimate of the price of the part to be replaced.

Upon confirmation, I will send one of my bike men to get the part from the dealer. When the biker man is there and has received the parts. I will transfer the money to the dealer.

The bike man takes the new part to the mechanic. The mechanic fixes it and finds me. I give him his agreed flat rate as well as transport fare.

I will try this..

If I fail, I will know why I failed.

Please let me fail. I will however continually post updates and feedbacks

Which part of "This your model won't work" do U not understand?[/quote]

Dovehorizon:
You still won't learn.

In the quest for trying to checkmate everything u will still fall short. That same mechanic will play games with your driver and they will make money out of u. You sound like someone who will be very stingy and trust me, there are some things u just have to let go. Letting go doesn't make you weak. You can't do everything by yourself except your dreams are short. There are reasons why things are delegated to subordinates (I believe next u would say after this pointer is, u would go to the market yourself to buy the missing or bad parts). There are some dues to be paid that's inevitable when it comes to business and if u really wanna go far as a business man then you have to create a conducive structure for whosoever will work for you.
I was once a Personal Assistant to a Chief Executive Officer of a construction company and I did the 9-5 stuff for more than 6years, so when it comes to managing business, I can categorically tell you I have an experience in that. When the structure isnt conducive, that's when your Production manager and Head of Quality Control would team up to look for a way to exploit the company, that's when your marketers would prefer to go home and rest instead of putting more hours to work.

With the present rate (fare), an investor can't break-even within a year (depends on the amount invested), maybe your modality would have worked when Uber was still uber, when people were easily cashing out 200k weekly but even at that, u would still be shortchanged, it's once again inevitable.

What if I get a Nigerian used car for less than a million . can I break even within a year using the current model?
Actually the fact the driver is the boss is what is annoying me.

Imagine a tenant playing boss in a rented apartment
