You guys are getting it wrong.. That division u did is uncalled for

Its not a job. Its a scholarship award for undergraduate. they pay every january/febraury (150k).

He would receive it regadless of where he resides but to get it he had to send his original waec cert to the scholaship body... his excuse to get 150k yearly (to be paid in full in january) was that his sec school is far... if he was a rich kid, he would not have applied for it in the first place.

What is this nonsense. no matter d reason u give here, it can never be justifiable. how can graduates b d cause of unemployment in Nigeria. no let me insult u o....the government needs to do more, and our elites needs to put their brains to work then then the working class needs to create other means of livelihood that can create job opportunities. that guy didn't accept ur offer bcus he had his reasons so let him b. that guy might even be richer than u in d future.

I pray he becomes successful. Richer than me... No no no... The dude might consider fifty million rich...
I don't...

Dont be so mad my brother... I understand the country is hard. i also understand your grievances. The Lord will do it for you. But nver wait on the government. Whenever you see an opportunity, jump at it.... If i had someone who could assist me to get 150k every march for 5 years without working as a student, i would have kissed his feet.

Corp members work heaven and earth over 18k.. an undergraduate has an opportunity to free funds/capital (if he culd save) to set up a biz... His challenge was the distance..

I ould prsonally keep a watch on that dude.. I like to see him succeed in life but if he doesnt get a job.. His mind would remind him of all the opportunities that he threww to the wind

Even with what you have wrote, I still wouldn't blame the boy one bit. If I were him, knowing how important the offer may turn out to be, I'll see to it that I ask you for extended favour. At least there's nothing wrong in you taking care of his transport if his excuse is genuine. That's why I so much love the white. They don't think black. Once they source out a talent, they won't allow such talent go to waste. They may do that knowing how much they ll benefits from you in the nearest future but the fact remains they have helped you.
Now you mention how you saved money to start a business. This issue is a relative one. You happens to have sources through which money flow into your hands that's why you were able to save. Have you ever encountered graduates who used their little savings from NYSC to help their parents. That's because all hands are not equal.

FYI I'm a graduate looking for job. If you so much claim of rendering a help to the boy. Prove it here and now.
2:1 Mechanical Engineering.

The whole world is watching ya

I'm also young grad like you.. Broke too and I don't have a job but im not waiting for govt. But.. I Hope to build the next big thing very soon.. You might come in handy... I ll send you a pm..

You still happen to be senseless to me. Your assertion will make no good sense. Anyways, it will be a total waste of time to trade words with you. You sound like one of these frustrated Nigerian guys out there that will be so swift to pick on a lady all because they are not cultured.

You can go on blabbing. I guess the next reply you will get with be from your long wait to get my reply....What has APC turned Nigerian guys into. So u mean if u meet me, you would make an attempt to slap me...then you cant be considered a man, but, maybe a tod...I wont even be surprised, you could be in high school or probably battling with UME.

Quote me if only you are a senseless dude

As expected a lady would leave the topic of discourse and talk out of point.

FYI.. I ain't battling with ume.. By profession I did six years in school .. I'm sure u know there's only one popular course with such duration in Nigeria...

You have the tiniest brain on earth...even an octopus that has no brain (Sure u dont know that) is more sensible than you. So a vehicle on a hill, if not on steady brake, will not move down on its own...

u don't want to mess with me this Friday afternoon

Again you showed your level of thoughts.. How would a vehicle go to the hill in the first place

Besides.. Anything on any slope would slide down on its own. Even the watch...

I'm inclined to thinking you are a girl..

They say girls have fish brains...

Indeed u are a girl..
U think like the girls who have fish brains

This dude isn't the only person who has given such ridiculous reason. I once went to university of Ibadan to teach dem how I made some cash in as a student.... They gave me several excuses. So I went to unn.. Those guys were given the money.. I would now screenshot their pay to the ui guys... Maybe it's a Yoruba thing

The fact that you base your hypothesis on a general view can't seem to amaze me. Only a myopic fellow will stand tall with his chest high and say Nigerian graduates are unemployable. The fact that you encounter one nunentity doesn't make everyone less useful.
Before I pass judgement on people, I always put myself in their shoe. You wouldn't know if the boy in question have no means of livelihood not to talk of going on the said journey. Now to issue proper.
You can't just conclude that graduates are to blame for being unemployed. Yes in this contemporary Society, there are no guarantee of job placement and as such your skills goes along way to earn you a living. But does that completely exempt government of their responsibilities? I guess NO. Research have shown that 99% of what ever skill a graduate might acquire to earn a living depends directly or indirectly on Electricity generation and policy making. So if one should go by your bizarre assumption graduates have no reason relying on government even when it comes to dividends of democracy and fundamental rights.
Anyway, we all have our problems. You wouldn't know what others are going through til you get close to them.

You don't generalize on sensitive issue like this. It relative.

Well articulated. But u missed the point. Do u know how. Many graduates had opportunities in front of them but they threw such. How much does an average corp member receive monthly. Yet he works so hard to get it. The opportunity before this boy was gold. He wouldnt have to work but he would receive that money every march.. He threw it for some nonsense reason. I got some capital to start a biz as a student. I don't rely on govt for a job.

I argued that the rise in unemployment is largely due to the unemployed individual rather than the govt or system.. As usual, i got a lot of opposite response.

I argued that the average Nigerian student/Graduate is naturally lazy and unenterprising. Many rebuffed this claim.

Heres something that prompted me to bring back the argument.

I just got off a call with an undergraduate. I brought him an opportunity that would pay him 150k yearly for the next five years and all needed to do was to send his original waec certificate to the body that would pay him... He didnt oblige.

heres his excuse...

MY SECONDARY SCHOOL IS FAR.

and then i asked him to be sure..
"are you saying u want to forfeit this opportunity because your sec school is far?"

he said "the school is in ogun state (he is in imo)"..

i just said thank you (as usual) and hung up..

The problem actually is that when he graduates and theres no job, he might travel to sambisa forest for just an interview(not even the job itself).
yet, his type would whine about not having capital to start a business.

150K (times 5 years) was standing in front of him.. yet his excuse was imo to ogun state (distance).....

In your attempt to call the guy senseless.. You revealed your own degree of sense by asking if the watch can move on its own.. You must think cars move on their own. Sorry

I have always believed the THE NEXT BIG THING ( after Facebook and Google) would come from Africa. I am inclined to thinking it would be Nigeria.

My team and I have a pseudo code for a technological break through in the banking industry. We are looking at exploring FINTECH (financial technology) to its limit.

We are on the verge of building a TECHNOLOGY (not just an app) that would reshape our (the worlds) banking experience for eternity.

This technology would have indirect competitions in interswitch, PayPal Nigeria and paga.

There isn't a direct competition now (the idea is novel.. Maybe it exists outside Africa).

We are looking for sponsors who would help build THE NEXT BIG THING...

the kind of sponsorship we require is a partnership.. Someone who would be ready to sign an NDA with us..

We don't need a million dollar to build this technology.

Our basic needs to build this technology...

1. A furnished apartment to accommodate 10 programmers
2. Lots of food
3. A cook
4. 25 weeks to build the technology (day and night).
5. Registration fees of technology with relevant bodies and association.
6. Licensing fees
6. Standby electricity.
7. Most importantly, someone who believes in our dream. Building THE NEXT BIG THING
