There is no issue with buying a one way ticket. Just buy anything that suits you. At times return ticket could even be cheaper than one way. |

In fact this happened during my interview, a guy came in for his second attempt and his turn resulted in meeting the VO that denied him earlier. The VO asked the guy to pls wait that he will not be able to interview him the second time and another VO was referred to the cubicle to attend to the guy. |

the questions caught me on aware, she asked fast and i got lost on the way, i wasnt expecting such question at all ,asking someone going for undergraduate about programming languages, I can bet anyone, she did not denied me because of the programming or fortran stuff because this people dont know much about the questions the ask sometimes, but I know i did not make strong point toward Nigeria through out, For your information, I was too Over Confident because i believe she cant tackle me at all.if it is all about brilliant or inteligent i will get the visa, She saw my SAT 1 -1970 SAT 11-2019 ,toefl-99 and nord her head and view it again again, I think i wasnt Lucky that is the fact, In everything God favor is the best, Pray, but i cant give up, will go again and i will get it definately by the favor of God, is a lesson for me You can still get a date. Just be smart about it. I know of two friends that got 2 interview dates within a week or 2. God will help you. |

Djdammy21: @house Please what advise will you give for someone going for HR
I mean What if someone was asked what courses will you be taking? What's your ADDITION TO THIS, human resource management: through courses in employment law, compensation, negotiations, and receive a well-rounded education in business through courses in accounting, computer information systems, finance, international business, management and Marketing.
Please what do you think about this answer,
Congrats Everyone that has gotten his or Her Visa, Please pray for people going for Fall Interview. My friend interview is Day after tomorrow Anyone going to Abuja on Thursday, should indicate himself so i can link you guys together.

CHEERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - Human resources management is critical to any organization that want to remain a going concern. It's involves alligning people (employee) and their capacity or skills to the vision and mission of an organization in a way that will result to overall performance of the organization and would also earn the employee a corresponding compensation. It also involves the assessment and building of the capacity of employees in an organization in line job description metrics. - Human resources management is also referred to as human capital development. - There is always the need to channel human asset to result in better productivity for an organization.- - One could also talk about labor acts- it merits and challenges - The usual labor issues in naija, the cause and how you think the course could help say the govt - The country need to see HRM beyond hiring and keep so called records but an integral profit center. , just trying, i guess i may be scribbling something, but it could be of help. all the best |

Concerning this accommodation stuff, as many of us that are already making or planning accommodation arrangements in the US please be very careful. Dont enter into any contract before getting to the US because if you get your visa, it'll be binding. I'll advice where applicable you could just pay application fee and just get an evidence of that. If you think you can, you could also get information about apartments close to your school (you'll get this on google, craiglist would also be fine if know about proximity), request and print the brochure to just show and say something. well i dont know if this could scale. but pls dont make any payment for any accommodation without understanding the intricacies of the contract - talk to guys in ur sch first and for info about prorating. My friends paid $1k for 4 days because the contract states $1k per month and made the wrong assumption that it will be from 26th to 25th. |

gbaski2010: Hello Nlanders, i need advise on how best to prepare for my interview in few wks tym. Am 30 got HND in civil engineering/transportation option. Graduated four yrs ago, did my NYSC and have been working in a civil and construction company in the last 3 yrs after completing a certificate course in project mgt. now want to study transportation and logistics mgt(UG). I have all necessary documents with me but my major concern is how to convince the V.O that i will come back to 9ja after grad so he doesn't feel i want to run away may be cos i don't have a good paying job here. people pls come up with possible interview questions and answers and what you think will be best for me to do so as to let the v.o know say i nor dey run away oooo @ Gbaski this should be the cheapest question that should border you. - Dont forget that transportation is an aspect of Civil engineering. - Furthermore, you could tell the VO stories about recent projects about how the country is trying to build and provide effective rail system that will help in conveying people and produce easily to ease off traffic on the road. - there is also the south west rail project. the south east is also working on such. - The shipping (cabbotage bill) whatever and it impacts - Logistic business is a big stuff in naija. Talk about maersk and some others i cant remember - Let VO know that you've seen some prospects in the industry , and there are lot more. I am not a civil engineer and i have these stories, pls you should have more and get close to newspaper. All the best. |

bobotimi: Hi All,
Just wondering if anyone can share their experiences regarding application for US NIV at the US Embassy in London. I've applied twice in the past whilst studying and I was denied on both occasions. Sad
Now that I've been working in England for almost two years, I'm thinking of giving it another shot. I'm on a TIER 2 General Visa and my job is my only tie to the UK, I'm wondering if that'll be enough? Has anyone successfully applied at the London embassy recently? Did you submit your supporting documents at the first window or during the actual interview at the second window?
Any tips will be appreciated.
Cheers I will advise you apply from the UK and show evidence of strong ties to your job. If your proposed course has a relevance to your current job - the better. All they wanted is that you are coming for studies and when you're done, you take your leave. I will never advise you to go back to naija to apply. |

Ayanfe22: Hi guys, Please if there's any fall applicant who still doesn't have an interview date, its as simple as ABC. Nobody can buy a date for you or get date from heaven. Just schedule any appointment you see even if its december, state you case on the emergency request link, type the name of your school, sevis number, expected arrival date in a letter explaining your situation. And PLEASE attach you i20. My friend just went through a terrible experience in the hands of one she met on nairaland called lekoso. Lekan ROSIJI. He's email is lekoso56@yahoo.com. Please be very careful. All this guy that book dates don't do anything special. Its something you can do yourself. He refused to give my friend the password of the primary email address he used to open an account for her. Her payment was stuck on the page and anytime my friend scheduled an appointment, he will go bk and cancel it jst because she pulled out of the agreement after 9 days of no whow.
Infact dear friends, don't meet anyone on nairaland. My friends dad warned her seriously but she didn't listen. D annoyin thing is dat this guy couldn't have used her payment for anything but he jst wanted to scatter her plans. Her dad threaten Lekan with police. Pls you guys be very careful. If u need any help with the link, just post your questions here. I did everything by myself and now my friend called the help lines and dey had d whole application changed for her and her payment moved to another link. They evern appoved her request for an expedited appointment and she was given d same 8th of August that I got. PLEASe don't give anyone your password to that schedule your appointment link.they will keep posting you and won't do anything but waste your chances of leaving this fall. As long as you are a student and u send that email, you MUST get a date b4 d date stated on your i20. Sorry for the long epistle guys. I am jst very passionate about this coz this was direct first hand experience coz I was dere wen everything went down. Please let's note this experience. The guys selling date are not doing anything extra. What they do is to monitor the portal for changes should there be anybody that drops his or her date which anyone can do. Late last year (Dec to be precise) some of the spring applicants do monitor and post if they see an opening. Also note that the US embassy has preference for students and people seeking medical attention, hence the reason for expedited interview. |

I'm currently in my 3rd year studying Sociology in Lasu and now planning on going for a 4yr undergraduate (BBA) Bachelor in science in Business Administration, what possible questions might be asked from me aside standard deviation and square root of -1?
Having Gained the Admission. Do I need to have present with me during interview Toefl,SAT results as the school didn't request to provide this from me while processing my application stating Nigeria as being Exempted from providing them.
I have been bounced 3 times already (2005) (2010) (2011) respectively. All under visiting Non Immigrant visa/application all in Lagos, Applying for an F1 visa at 26yrs of age now again in 2011 (Fall), what might my success rating be? Lagos or Abuja where would be my best bet?
Sevis fees are not accepted online from nigeria (you know why) and the only two available options are (1) crossing the seme boarder and (2)western union payments if you're lucky enough to have someone abroad to help you. I want to know how to go about paying through either means and the process it entails if anyone out here has paid through these means or has valid knowledge of how to go about this.
Can I find an Interview date before the middle of August as my school resumes on the 24th of same month?
At the end of the day the same consulars come back here to read all our Issues/Hints/Tips. But God over all.
Anxiously waiting for answers.

GboyegaD: Please house I need a clarification. I was going through my financial documents when I realized my aunt did not change her statement account from her maiden name thus, the account statement I have carries her maiden name however, the certificate of investment which was what the school used for issuing my I - 20 carries her marital name which was the name I filled as my sponsor on my DS160. I intend going to the embassy with the statement since she will be liquidating her Treasury Bill later this month into her Current Account and then print the current account to enable me present same at the embassy. I am thinking of going with the Certificate of Investment which carries a maturity date of July 27, 2011 and her statement of account which will be printed some days to my interview to defend that she was investing the monies for my sake. I will also take along a copy of her marriage certificate to indicate she is the same person however, if she hasn't done a publication informing the public of the her marital status hope it doesn't mean any harm? It is not too late to update her name change at the bank and you'll print the statement afterwards. The name on the statement then carries the new (preffered) name. But if that's not an option i dont know if her marriage certificate or something as an evidence could suffice. |

dizyfrenzy: @cleverdude: from what u wrote, it wasnt really d acc balance that made her deny u, i think your problem started when she askd u why u chose d school. She wasnt convinced u knew what u were doing when u chose d school, or that u really had a good reason why u chose d sch, thats why she askd u '' what of orlando where there are mountains too''.the moment a v.o does that, he/she isnt convinced, when we talked on YM,i gave u more points u should av used if they ask u why u chose d sch, and i expected u to say more. Secondly, big red flag was when she askd u who was sponsoring u, i expected u to say ''my uncle'' not ''my cousin''.the v.o will not know if its actually your uncle or not. U were denied under section 214(b).u can still get a visa if u try again, dont give up. As for the date thing, ts gonna be difficult now that their site self is having probs, i dnt knw if its been rectified sha. I gave myforumid my numba to give u,call me and lets talk,i mite be able to help wit the date stuff, Its well @ Cleverdude, i kind of agree with dizy. Try to same something tangible about the school that you will be attending. Something about the faculty, the researches in your dept, the options or concentration, something that makes the school a better choice. Also note that internet is not a sufficient place to discover school; you could tell him something like my father's friend or uncle who works as a consultant at say NIMR suggested the school, infact he graduated from the school. About the job tell him you want to come back to in a place like NIMR, VOM and any other research institute and ultimately become a lecturer in the field in other to help the younger ones. If you feel that your stmts that was not in order is an issue, pls correct that. A friend of mine told me he was asked why he chose CSU, he answered 'i love the weather', the VO was kind enough to ask whatelse, but he was still buttressing the good weather condition in CA, he was bounced but got it the second time. I wish you the best. |

GboyegaD: Please I want to make an enquiry. My sponsor's Treasury Bill matures by 28th July but her current account carries a balance of about N160k. Please can I print the statement some days into August and take along for my interview of August 10. Also, do I go along with a copy of the investment certificate to show that the Treasury Bill matured and the money is now left in the current account or I go only with the new statement. I guess it should, TBs are zero risk type of investment. Just try to get statement from when the investment was initiated till maturity and afterwards. If the investment was a rolled over investment you could as well ask that the statement be printed from that period. In that case, you will be good to tell the VO that the fund was invested specifically for your studies and dont forget to go with the investment certifcates. |

In the US, universities are also referred to as colleges, Yeah! This however does not stop the fact that there are colleges (mostly referred to as junior colleges) which are only meant for 2-year programs and there you earn Associate degrees or possibly transfer to the University. This being noted, in my opinion I will advise NLers to apply to schools that carries the word ‘UNIVERSITY’. Reason being that whenever most of the people here anything college what first comes to their minds is the 2-year program school except they are conversant with the name. I can be very sure that be VOs would not know the names of all the schools in the US, for instance in California alone there are over 130 universities (not including junior colleges) and you may agree with me that one cannot know the names of the schools. Another thing that I observed is that most of the ‘US people’ most often don’t know what is happening in other states not to talk of the country, hence I will not be surprised if the VOs are very rooted in the US immigration laws but not in the names of schools in the US. This is just my little observation. Cheers! |
