deezy101: look at this conversation, you should answer like this, V.O: how many schools did you apply to you: three sir. V.O: what are the schools, you: name three schools for him including the houston college. V.O:How many admits You: just one sir, houston community college, the other two is still awaiting sir,
experience has shown that its safer to answer that way, i sincerely wish you all the best @ Shavel, pls if you want to go the deezy way, dont forget to know about the schools and what could be the cause of delay. |

shavel: @house,wats the chance of me getting my f1 on the 17th of may coz i'll be going along wit a community college's i20,my major is nursing and am jes 17+ of age @ Shavel, i started following ur posts since the day you posted that one can get a 5-yr student visa from naija. Well, i pray u'll get your visa, but with this ur post, your chances are slim. You need to understand that F-1 visas are issued most importantly because of the fees. though community colleges also have different fees for int'l students, it is however far cheaper than Unis. What guys do is that you process admissions to both college and Uni (usually in same county or state), take the uni's i-20 to the embassy, you can then get here and change to the college. i could see you are kind of spontenous, but calm down to get the correct info. well, there is no harm in trying. all the best! |

Toluth: Thanks for the quick response, The problem is that in most of those school's website, their tuition are always per hour courses done. Since I don't know how many courses I will be doing, I'v been having problem calculating the tuition, I intend to go for masters degree in economics, if you will be attending a school that runs semester, most schools allow you to do a max of 9 units and min of 6 units as a grad. There is usually a general fee applicable to all, then as int'l students you now add the cost per unit to the fee. for example, if the the tuition or say general fee is $3k, the cost per unit say $300; so the total cost for 9units in a semester equals $5,700 (3000+(300*9)). i guess this could be applicable also to schools on terms also. take care. |

I don't have any family and friends in the US, From my little experience to get started without anyone on ground could be very difficult and frustrating - you can say that to the embassy, but believe me you need someone most times. However, i learnt Texas or Minnesota could be a bit cheaper but i've not been there though. You may also check out the websites of all the schools to compare info. |

naggy: I just got the green ticket!!!!!!!!!!! Before I post my experience I want to hint on something. Today has proved to me that it is not by the number of documents you have, neither is it by your composition but it is only the grace of GOD that can see someone through. The very few members here knows the issue I had which was even the reason I missed my appointment on two good occasions but despite that I was able to make it through by God's grace and the most astonishing aspect of it was that, the interview was hassle free and that problem that gave me much thinking never ever came to light. I was very confident before I got in there but once I was in, I was gripped with uttermost anxiety despite the praise song I was singing in my mind. I was obviously fidgeting that even the consular noticed it and had to tell me to "calm down and take a deep breath." I am a very good speaker but instantly I became a stammerer and was practically talking nonsense but yet it never counted against me. That aside when I got in there, the Chinese lady just denied one Masters guy on the grounds that he didnt convince her he was going to return. Just as she finished with the guy and it was my turn, she went in to take a break and there comes in this middle aged man, Here goes my experience:
VO: Next applicant come to Window 9 Me: (with a big smile) Goodafternoon Sir. VO: Your documents please! VO: I see your going to study in the US right? Me: Yes Sir. VO: How many schools did you apply to? Me: 3 VO: Name them ME: Princeton, UCLA and my school VO: Where you accepted in Princeton? VO: No VO: (laughs) I knew! VO: Why do you choose NY instead of California? ME: (I started blabbing nonsense, oh men come check me out stammering and suddenly I stopped talking) VO: (looks at me again) What course do you wanna study? ME: Law VO: (in a low tone) You wanna study Law and your not bold enough to speak to me, look at you! How would you be able to handle all those matters that comes with it! Okay now just calm down and take a deep breath. ME: Okay I am sorry Sir, not that I am not bold, it is just that this is my first time to go through this so it's getting me really tense. VO: (laughs) Well, I actually studied the same course as you so I have alot of knowledge in that field. So where do you wanna work after your studies? ME: EFCC VO: (laughs very hard) After all the time spent in the US you wanna come back to work there. Don't you think they the EFFC are corrupt? ME: (laughing) Yeah Sir that's true but am going to make the wrongs right. VO: Thats good so when did you graduate from school? ME: 2007 VO: And what have you been doing since then? ME: (imagine the spontaneous idea that came out of my head from no where) I have been tutoring and worked with alot of charity homes. ME: Let me have your transcripts, WAEC result and SAT score if you have any let me evaluate the type of student you are. ME: (gave him) VO: (looking at my credentials) Oh wow you studied French? That's nice, so have you any relations in the US? ME: Not at all Sir. VO: Who is your sponsor? ME: My mother VO: Okay good, how old are you? ME: XX years. VO: Okay I'm gonna issue you this visa. Take this green ticket and go pick it up by Monday. I see your school resumes on that same day so go today and mail your advisor informing him/her you just got your visa today and that he/she should give you a letter that will assist you enter the country on a later date cos I doubt you will be able to make it on the day. Don't forget your I-20 and enjoy your stay in NYC.
So my NL brothers that was it oh, nothing more nothing less. There was virtually NO documents required except from the WAEC and transcript. I am very grateful to God because it's of HIS own making. I also owe the greatest appreciation to Kwizzy212 and thank you nwaoma009 for your words of support and encouragement. God bless you all and best of success and luck to all those going after me!
Remember, God is the ultimate!!!! congrat naggy! others the NL visa season is back, better go get yours now, lol |

Wilfem: @ House, Pls how do I go about making a case about this my transcript issue in the course of my re-applying for another Interview? Thanks in advance. Try to get a letter from your school and/or dept addressed to the embassy in line with the issue. In case the sch have more than one type of transcript, let them state it on the letter, sweet mounth you and get copies of such and the initial one u went with. try to get any other supporting documents, if possible an affidavit or a letter from notre public. You will get it. |

vandops: Its a serious violation for a student to be in possession of a transcript, Your lucky the authorities were not called in and instead you were denied.
The ideal scenario as suggested was to have said your school dont give out transcripts to students. Because WES didnt send you the evalaution dont mean you can attend an interview with the absence of a transcript.
Anyways if you intend on reapplying then you have to make a strong case as to why you were denied initially.
BEst of luck @ vandops and tee.baba Pls note that some schs give photocopies of transcript and it is not wrong to have such copies, besides sch like UNILORIN issues student copies transcript. I used photocopies of my transcript at the embassy and I got it. I feel the CO was not used to the kind of format presented and the reason for the suspicion. However, I will advise you reapply and stand your ground on the authenticity of ur stuff. Also, you can go the extra mile to insist that the CO write the reason stated clearly on the rejection card because you will need to take it to your school and in case of subsequent legal action since you are genuine. That puts organization on toes becos everybody tries to avoid litigation. Wishing you and everyone the best. |

The response I get from the site is 'interview date not currently available'. In view of this, I will like to request for an emergency interview for a student F-1 visa at the US Embassy. This will avail me the opportunity to resume by early January to attend mandatory meetings scheduled for international students. I have gotten my I-20 and made payments for all required fees. Some required information are as follows: Name: Passport No: VFS receipt No: SEVIS: SEVIS Receipt No: Mobile: 0 Please permit me to further state my preference for December 6th - 10th, 2010 as I will be on break from office during this period.
