freshdude2: I doubt you have made the journey. From Oshodi to Tollgate alone is nothing less than an hour. Tollgate to Canaanland is another matter on its own. Sunday is just 6days away, give it a try. Used to live at Iyana Iyesi which is 2miles from Canaanland and I've made 30minute to 1hour journeys on that stretch. Don't know much how they handle these days. But I assure you, I tell of what my eyes have seen and hands handled.
being a while i plied that route though.... its a distance.... but that in my opinion is not d issue

cococandy: You're not serious grin

I was hoping you'd give a specific practical example of something you think would be common in a soulless society.

Because as far as I'm concerned,we are already there. People are desensitized to violence, death and what have you.

People step on those who are already down and crushed to get to where they want to be and what they want to get.

There's no mercy ouit there.

Haven't you heard the song 'ain't no love in the heart of the city'(reminds me of the aluu4) who we've forgotten so soon(I still cry when I remember them)

People get married and have relationships for what's in it for them and take a walk once it's not panning out according to their WANTS.
.........
Etc etc

I'm thinking we are there already.
You can still choose the life you want with the kind of person who shares your POV no matter what's happening around you.

TV01: Ah!

To be honest, I'm not the most clued-up person about the geography of the SW - although I do know that Ota is in Ogun State - but whatever the distance, up to 8 hourshuh I really don't understand that. And on a day that actually signifies rest?

TV
On a sunday.. that distance will be 1 hr 30 mins 2 hours max

Lekki - Ikoyi - 3rd MB - Ikeja -Iju - Ota

Its a distance though

However accidents can happen anywhere n im my opinion, its not the distance just that the distance is an exacerbating factor
Remember they have had family discussions on this issue

It could have well been Lekki to VI

Her attitude of stiffneckedness about this particular issue is the issue

5minsmadness: Sooner than you think. There are already virtual porn worlds where you register online under an anonymous name and you are assigned an avatar in the form of a 3Dmale or female model. Then you can have online sex with another user and the avatars act out the scenarios. Its all very posh and costs a pretty dollar. Soon guys won't need to get physical and girls can satisfy themselves with their dildoes and e-romance novels. Physical relationships as we know it will come to an end and with it the institution of marriage, family and social structure will crumble to dust.

And then the devourer will come.
Yes I know of this.. but im speakiing of Africa or Nigeria..

bluelover: yes people should stop talking about it too much and giving it so much credit than it deserves.
Everyone is different,it's not compulsory you get married or go into a relationship. Its a matter of choice, some see sex as an important thing in their relationship while some don't. I repeat it again sex itself is overrated. There is more to life than sex and relationships.
you are blessed for this post! Everyone should be free to do whatever they want as long as they are happy!

P.s: whatever they want as long as it is not affecting anyone negatively or extremely evil e.g murder
Not sur ur post is related to what i said
Im saying the more prosaic sex has become, the less people see value in relationships
Do you agree

coogar: sėx is overrated - people are starting to realise that fact.

MizMyColi:

Before I say anything, the underlying cause of the issue raised @Topic is pure, unadulterated SELFISHNESS undecided

Well Beau, Pansophist is right in his own rights.
The opinions I'm about to express are solely mine and isn't intended to disrupt anyone's thought process in this regard.

I'm prolly the president of the school of thought that there is a spirit in man, the inspiration of the almighty gives him understanding - of what is right, of what is wrong, of what should be, of what shouldn't be.

Without being bigoted nor patronizing, I have to state that it irks me and everyone whose conscience is still alive, the spate at which right is suddenly becoming wrong, at a geometrical rate and wrong's suddenly becoming right, at what I'd call speed of light.

Excuse me,
That people no longer have the time for sex/fulfilling their marital obligation, hence turning to _erotic literatures, intimacy gadgets, online __Pronography and their likes doesn't make it the right thing!

That's Selfish!
I agree it all comes down to Self
Iniqiuty shall abound and love wax cold... sad

I mean, I hate to sound insensitive, but hey, the fact that things aren't the way I'd ideally expect them to be in my place of work for example, doesn't mean I should stop putting in my best or become so complacent, there'll be consequences, the same can be said of a marriage situation.

Marriage is an institution........
You never graduate from it.
Ideally, no one hates marriage.
People who do must have had battering experiences.
At the bolded....Yes in some cases
Others.. people just stop trying cry cry
And whether we accept it or not, true love, in its truest and unadulterated form will continue to be in fashion as the innermost yearning all, even of the best men and women haters ever liveth/walked planet earth.
The reason is simple, Love is our nature, Love is our default setting.
Ask Indian Movies Producers cheesy

What am I saying in essence? That something has become a trend doesn't mean we should form a bandwagon and consciously/subconsciously go along with it.
Let the ideals of marriage as we know it be upheld.
Let there be mutual partnership/benefits ESPECIALLY mutually rewarding sex between human beings, not toy and human being or human being and electronics.
Where there are storms (like this topic), let's stay together in the marriage and weather it. Let's throw out other options.

Let love and compassion prevail, in all our dealings.
You can never go wrong following this path.
I agree with the bolded
Thanks for taking time out

crackhaus: The line of reasoning baffles me honestly. Yes the man has messed up by chasing them, so the next thing is to play along because in their minds 'after all, he's the one leaving his wife to chase me'.

Anyway, it's not today we realized that women are mostly responsible for their own shiit...or aptly put, their own worst enemies.
And they think their problems in this world are caused by men.
Funny Indeed!
grin grin grin grin

Women can never blame a fellow woman even if she is blatantly wrong not to talk of partial culpabiility..its not in their makeup

They even found a way to blame Jay Z when the world saw Solange was the aggressor
The man caused it

The funny thing is that these same women cannot stand another woman up in their space or face

LOL
Family › Re: Is This The Future For The Sex Life Of Nigerians by pickabeau1(op): 2:45pm On Sep 29, 2014
Ok.. i see your point

Let me call another philosopher/writer/i dont even know undecided... tongue grin

MizMyColi

pansophist: Depends on the individual you ask, the answer will definitely be different. I have a Dwarf friend that confided in me that since he was born, he has not have a girlfriend not to talk of having sex. He told me that nobody wants him, that his height is enough reason to be disqualified, he wont even get a date or even a chance to talk to them and mind you, he is 33.

Take Nigeria for example, a country where LGBT rights are not recognized, a country where coming out as homosexual can lead to mass beating and eventually roasting, how will they be able to satisfy their intimate need? Like I said earlier, depends on the individual.

People in such circumstances will just prefer to buy a toy, watch porn and have fun in the comfort of their home without having going to pass the stress of society.

Funny!
The man just tries and they fall yakata to the ground
Some Women.. falling for married men since 1860 grin grin grin grin grin

crackhaus: I can't believe this, so you mean some women have no sense of morality or shame whatsoever?
A married man chases you and you just can't refuse his advances and say a firm NO, especially knowing that he's a man married to a woman like yourself who would most probably be shedding tears and heart broken over it?
You're telling me all women are puppets and are at the mercy of married men who chase them? cheesy

Indeed now I understand why scoring married men is like winning the lottery to single and lazy azzed Nigerian girls...too bad for their reputation, and you people wonder why guys have little or no regard for you lots & talk you down at every opportunity..

Pathetic, so damn pathetic... grin

Agreed, he has died...but somebody killed him albeit diabolically.
So should men now also kill any woman who cheated on their spouse to be with them and not be guilty of it because it's the woman's fault? cheesy

Y'all are quite amusing...

Another interesting perspective

a question though.. why will d process of cultivating relationships be seen as degradation

pansophist: I am not surprised about this in anyway, we are living in an era where you really do not need anyone for sex. I have seen many girls that told me that that they really do not need men in their lives, they prefer to climb higher in their career path and gratify their intimate desires through other means.

I live in a country where many of the young girls have Dildos and different kind of sexual objects in their home. Many of them even prefer it compare to their boys who are predictable in ''action time'', they can have sex with their toys as long as they want until they are satified. They can as well select the colour of toys they want (black or white d!ck), the length, the width, the type (e.g Phalic), the usage (e.g strap on) etc.

We are having more increasing numbers of people coming out as Lesbian, Gays, Pansexual etc and this further enforces the tendency of people sexually gratifying themselves without the need to pass through degradation trying to convince a significant other. More People are watching porn and jerking off with it, more people are beginning to patronize prostitutes, social excluded individuals, shy individuals, lunatics, people with micro penis, physically disabled and disadvantaged mofos are also resorting to other means of having sex.

Not surprised at all.

bluelover: lol!

People are the cause of this, everyone keeps talking about sex sex sex. The more you keep emphaising on it the more it denrates and losses it value.
interesting perspective

Dont u think that is the end game of all th 'talk' as u put it

once sex is demystified and it means nothing especially within the context of a dedicated relationship or marriage say,

why do we need to commit to anyone at all

What do u think

Change the 'must marry' mentality of nigerians and focus them into other things other than marriage and sex.

Ps: I'm not saying marriage and sex is bad. But its overrated

Saw this article and was wondering with the growth in online channels, erotic literature and life styles occasioned by two working parent households

Any comments?

We have sex just once a week

The recession has not only left many Britons worse off financially, it has also damaged their sex lives, according to a survey.
It says the average Briton has sex four times a month, compared with seven in 2008 when the years of economic boom gave way to bust.
And one in three Britons now does not have sex at all in a typical month.

The survey suggests that women are increasingly getting their thrills from erotic literature while men are turning to online porn

This is a significant increase – by eight percentage points – since 2008, says the poll of more than 1,000 adults published yesterday.
The decrease in regularity of having sex may be one of the reasons why the proportion of Britons saying they are satisfied with their sex life – 63 per cent – has decreased considerably since 2008, when 76 per cent were content.

It also seems that the tougher economic times may have had an impact on men’s self-confidence.
In 2008 more than half of the men questioned for the poll, carried out by The Observer, said they rated themselves above average in the bedroom. Today, only a third can claim the same confidence. The survey suggests that women are increasingly getting their thrills from erotic literature while men are turning to online porn.
Some 53 per cent of women admitted to reading erotic novels such as Fifty Shades of Grey, compared with just 36 per cent of men.

Women may turn to fiction but 76 per cent of men surveyed said they had watched pornography online compared with 36 per cent of the opposite sex.
The survey was carried out by Opinium Research which said it interviewed a sample of 1,052 UK adults between July 8 and 14, 2014, via an
online methodology, ensuring absolute anonymity.
It found that 66 per cent of women are satisfied with their sex life, compared with 60 per cent of men.
And satisfaction levels are higher for those in a relationship than singles, but around one in four of those in a stable relationship report being dissatisfied with their sex life.
