eleojo23: I think the kids of today are more exposed than their parents were during their time. I recently met my 10 year old cousin for the first time and I was suprised at what she knows and says. But nevertheless, even though they may act all grown up, they still possess the vulnerabilities of children.
true.... emotional maturity is still behind
Christianity Etc › Re: What's In A Name? by pickabeau1: 8:20pm On Aug 17, 2014
I wont say deceit only but pure domination as overlords

Those with native names were deemed pagans

Those who converted to white man religion were given white names and benefits accrued from the colonial masters

purplesummer: I would tell him it's a result of an age-long deceit perpetrated by his great grand fathers against Africans

BananaBender: pinkabeau, I haven't said anything and you're already going sissy on me. Calm your jittery nerves, I don't know you dude. And what you have here is some biased bullsh1t you have carried over from maybe Shollypopz whooping your a*ss..

Let's bring it back to Nigerian Christianity, thank you or vamoose.
Says the person who used ludacris first...
undecided

if you want us to discuss, lay your points.. if not vamoose also

BananaBender: I'm not trying to express bukatyne's point but I see where someone can be coming from when they say, 'Nigerian Christianity'.
Nigerian Christianity is influenced by paganism. The same mentality they were using to serve Amadioha, Sango, and all is the same mentality they bring to Christianity.
Nigerian Christianity promotes fear of God more than they do love of God. Nobody hammers on conviction, it's all about obeying the bible to the latter and removing any form of logic. (In most cases)
I think what you're insinuating in the highlighted is just ludacris.
There is Nigerian praise and worship, is it any less effective from praise and worship from other nationalities?? It just simply means the way Nigerians choose to worship God. It doesn't necessarily mean they are doing anything wrong. Different cultures, different languages, different society will definitely affect your religion. Even the bible is influenced by the Jewish culture.

So everyone that goes to church is a Christ-follower? undecided undecided
Already cussing?.. Dont bother yourself if u cant express yourself without being frustrated

undecided

BananaBender: Lumping?? I don't even have time to address that.
@highlighted: Catholics, Baptist, Anglican, ....... they all have different doctrines and they all claim to be Christians.
WTF are you even saying??
I get irritated when I have to explain every single line.............. what is Christianity without being Christ-like?? I thought the only Christianity is the one "espoused by Christ"? undecided undecided

Family › Re: "The Imperfections Of Marriage!" ~ Pav by pickabeau1: 8:01pm On Aug 17, 2014
You are lumping different things together in one sentence

Christianity as a religious framework is influenced by paganism.. Google and find out the origins of the christian festivals

Christianity as espoused by following Christ is not.

On style of praising God, that is not christianity. one may use drums, another flute.. praise is what it is... It is not christianity and does not define a nations type of christianity

Different cultures will influence a religion.. but the doctrines should be sure

Your keenness to just argue just for arguing sake is also ludacris

crackhaus: The older (grand parents/great grand parents) generation had it easy, the women then were more agreeable?...'docile' kind of, for lack of a better word.
They were not necessarily docile but they recognised the necessity of large households for farming etc

carefreewannabe: Frankly speaking, no! I would leave the marriage. I don't believe in staying together no matter what. If I was sick and tired and had the means to leave, I would.
This was what I thought u meant too
However you may be surprised there may be some career women who are financially empowered and not under compulsion who will not mind to accommodate a second wife
Who knows..humans are weird

carefreewannabe: Thank you for your advice.

You don't have to be a genius on NL to feel like one because one is surrounded by endless ignorance, to put it nicely. It is quite irritating.

I have always believed in healthy, polite debates but I have come to realise that healthy, polite debates are only possible with worthy partners.
Good for u..

So calling someone stuped is not an insult especially when unprovoked?

So many geniuses around here.

You should answer learn to distinguish between having an air of confidence and an over exaggerated sense of self importance

carefreewannabe: YOU should learn to distinguish between insults and facts.

I've read that article before...

So?

Is it today that people commit atrocities in the name of religion

It's not news..

None of what is written there is unique to any nation

What I feel Christians should focus on is exhortation to drop the sins that easily beset.
Except you also believe no christian in Nigeria serves God so we all are in the same boat

bukatyne: @Bolded, Nigerian Christians of the Nigerian god are not missing anything; they do not get it all. Have you read the Nigerian god article featured in Punch Column? Still searching for it

See the Authors' comment when some people will not let his wife be...
Interesting...

So Nigerian Christians don't serve God but god?

I will like to read more of this punch article

The standard is the Bible guided by the Holy Spirit

bukatyne: I said Nigerian Christian not unchristian (two different things) besides, na that one be your concern or the OP?

Paraphrased: The wife is not submissive, a Nigerian wife cannot try that, etc.

Your thoughts on the OP
I don't believe Christianity has any variants
For anyone to say Nigerian bible or Christian etc means or connotes mixed religion. If Nigerian Christians are missing something I think a watchman should guide n show d way not seem to mock.

The op is clear...don't count how many times your brother sins against you..forgive.. Forgive..commit to the Spirit who truly convicts.

bukatyne: Ok o,

I hear you

I agree that divorce is only for extreme cases (I don't even dig divorce. If you can't cope after all odds, just pack your bags and leave, If it is too hot, just run)
I hear you too oooo
Family › Re: Why Is Some Men Wicked And Promiscious After Wedding by pickabeau1: 1:12pm On Aug 17, 2014
bukatyne: Hmmm shocked

And if people advice them to do so they suddenly become feminists, home breakers or bitter divorcees that want others to join them?

Hmmm again
You miss it...

Unrestrained calls for divorce by its champions is the issue
There is a process...counselling... Seperation....then divorce

If this lady feels infidelity is a no no...then she should make her feelings known with desire to protect herself

Some men will stop...others will not

You are not far from the truth
I just stated the facts...

However this measures act as deterrents as you know if you r caught, you r on a long thing.. you could lose the home or kids etc

But most of our ladies believe that the white men dont cheat and they are angelic people so dont burst their fantasies grin
