Seems you are struggling with definition of a term... if we cant have a common understanding of one term then sorry we cant debate

The methodology highlights the process of getting information
Definition of research methodology: The process used to collect information and data for the purpose of making business decisions.
Thank me later

You are a product of a failed education system as all you have been saying since is unoriginal laced with idol worship of a woman who is pandering to white masters
Also you quote figures without any contextual meaning.. not very bright

As i said...you cant seem to seperate your emotions from debates.. every post from you is laced with subliminal attacks or this or that

This debate is over.. there was none anyway... we can discuss other things

carefreewannabe: You have a major in statistics, why don't you do it for yourself? grin grin grin
Anyway.
First of all, there is data that compares the median weekly earnings of men and women but not for the same job, which is unacceptable for the purpose of this discussion here. Nevertheless, there is also data available that does NOT compare the median paychecks of ALL women and ALL
men BUT men and women in same or similar jobs.
The data also suggests that there is a gap, even if smaller.
GAWD!......see definition grin grin grin. that is not the definition but something you seem to have fabricated to suit your points

1. i explained it... and i will humor u again.... maybe u will comprehend..u r a twister though
Let me quote from other sources if that will calm u down

The wage gap is expressed as a percentage and is calculated by dividing the median annual earnings for women by the median annual earnings for men. http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0763170.html
If you have data showing data in the same industry and levels for male and female.. please put it here

So the fact that women are MUCH MORE LESS LIKELY to own land and that women are discriminated against by customary law when it comes to the ownership of land, is not a gender gap? Are you serious?
More BS from you.. just now a female like you told you her females owned land.. and she owns property but you will choose to ignore that and regugitate what the whites have told you

Have u lived in nigeria before and for how long..

Very typical of you, the info does not suit you, so it is irrelevant.
Talking of modernisation, feminism is and has always been a driving force to modernisation. Modernisation does not just happen, peopleshape it. You can support it or you can oppose it but you will not stop it.
What is a characteristic of a developing economy?
Listen, I see the progress that has been made BUT I also see what is STILL to be done and there is STILL MORE TO BE DONE than has already been done. So do NOT tell me the situation for women in Nigeria is good.
It would help a lot if you started to focus on the work to be done instead of trying to stop people from the work they are doing.
So feminism drove modernisation and not indutrialisation, advances in health care or education?

I learn everyday.... smiley

humble... lol

If wat you potray online is humble, then i dont want to be ...

anyway to the matter at hand
i asked you and i will ask again.. what is the methodology of the gender gap
How are these figures determined

As you have referred to me as a failed stat major..please enlighten me... wink

Nigerian women have very limited ownership rights. Civil law entitles women to have access to land, and a few states have enshrined equal inheritance rights into law, but certain customary laws stipulate that only men have the right to own land.[52] For women without the means to purchase land on their own, in practice, their ability to obtain land flows solely through marriage or family.[53] Data from the government indicates a significant gender gap in land ownership. For free use, women make up only 24% of land owners and for distributed land, women make up only 26% of owners.[54]
This is not information relating to gender gap

certain customary laws.. its already disappearing...modernisation is working

From your link... but of course YOU WILL FOCUS on the negatives which my dear is a characteristic of a developing economy

Women and men have the same rights to vote and stand for election in Nigeria.

mployed women in Nigeria are entitled to maternity leave for twelve weeks at the state level and up to four months at the national level, and during this time are entitled to receive 100 percent of their wages.[67]

Under civil and Islamic law, married women have the right to have access to property other than land
There was virtually no discrepancy between vaccination rates for girls and boys under two, with just 23% of children receiving all their basic vaccinations.[49] This would not indicate any bias towards sons in regard to early childhood care.

In civil marriage where deceased men have left a will, widows are guaranteed the right to inherit at least one-third of the couple’s property.
Open your eyes and consider context. This is a nation that is progressing and your report acknowleges a lot of progress has been made yet you people get indoctrinated in some ideology and just regurgitate hook line and sinker without any form of context

smh

carefreewannabe: Listen, I have provided more than one gender gap report on this forum so there is no need to talk about me and my family, right?

Very simple if you know how to read statistics wink
Also listen my dear.. i do know how to read statistics...i majored in it
I will not deign to ad hominem attacks to prove some form of online superiority.. if u jerk off to that.. good for you

This is a report on gender gap by the American Association of University Women .. when u are ready.. let me know..we will discuss the methodology.... if not.. no problem
we agree to disagree

http://www.aauw.org/files/2014/03/The-Simple-Truth.pdf

Quoted below for your attention

The pay gap is the difference in men's and women's MEDIAN earnings

In part, these pay gaps do reflect men’s and women’s choices, especially the choice of college major and the type of job pursued after graduation. For example, women are more likely than men to go into teaching, and this contributes to the pay gap because teachers tend to be paid less than other college graduates.
other reasons are motherhood penalty which reflect the loss of earning due to the fact that mothers may need to leave work

im sure you know what median means.... Quoting figures without any context of the underlying reasons or why the figures are there do not show statistical dexterity

It's a simple set of questions I asked but you twist and make it about me..lol

I live in the country and have never seen any woman who was paid less than her male colleagues..and NO Lady here was said otherwise

Provide evidence a lady said she was paid lower than her male counterpart

Now my points is rubbish because I explained the methodology of the gender gap study...this is publicly available...if I am.wrong..then correct where I got it wrong rather than being salty....touchy...touchy eh..
Have u ever lived in naija beforr...

I see you are continuing your attacks..for someone who is not supposedly based in naija..you show so much commonality with the trait of attacking personality rather than issues..

Family › Re: Adichie’s Feminism: Vacuums And Fallacies By A. Gonzaga by pickabeau1(op): 9:32am On Aug 02, 2014
damiso: But inequality in the north is not just a gender thing. It is as a result of a lesser influence of western education.Alot of children in the north including boys are not educated.I made mention of Almajiris earlier they are often male children. It is more cultural or should I say cultural blended with religion. Some are even being educated in Quranic school and as such might not be educated in the way we are used to but are still being educated somewhat.

If the girlchild is not being educated in the north the boychild too is not.If both are not then there needs to be a concerted effort to improve that for ALL children.

Nigeria(and most of the world actually 1% of the worlds population own combined wealth of 90% of the world's wealth) is a very inequal society like I said earlier and this same north that has women who don't own property also has men don't own property too.

Islam has an underlying principle that believes that Allah makes you rich and if you are not then the rich man has been blessed to bless you . There is no point stresing yourself (I used to be muslim so I know what I am saying). That belief more so means sometimes some people tend not to be aspirational and are not concerened or bothered about improving their lot in life.I was born poor I don't mind dying poor if it is Allah's will. That is less evident in the South even among southern muslims where people (men and women) tend to be more aspirational.
Statements like these are from people who know what is happening on ground...poverty is the issue not statements regurgitated by a self professed speaker on Nigeria's issues who manages to show her disdain for the same people she is speaking for

Adichie wants to get a pulitzer and her fan girls know it..
She is ready to say the things her masters want to hear.

Simple..

Carefreewannabe..its now you state you don't want to defame any company for illegal practices...i hope you have read on the methodology for the gender gap studies which compares a pool of make and female over different jobs and levels NOT AT THE SAME LEVEL

Of course a male surgeon will earn more than a female GP and a female surgeon will earn more than a male GP..logicsl..aint it

You are a professional
.have u been paid less than your male counterpart in any place you have worked..
YES or No
Family › Re: Adichie’s Feminism: Vacuums And Fallacies By A. Gonzaga by pickabeau1(op): 9:23am On Aug 02, 2014
carefreewannabe: So what if inequality in the North is massive? The North is not part of Nigeria?
Just as damiso said above there are massive illiteracy levels up north
It's unfortunate and it does not affect the females only note

Let me ask you a question have long have u lived in Nigeria

Who said women are prohibited? WHO?

You are on NL every day, have you missed to see all the threads created by women who are threatened to be send packing from their HUSBAND'S houses?

DON'T TWIST MY WORDS!
So threads opened by virtual people should form the basis of my perceptions and ideology

Hahaha

I'm not twisting your words

You said women in Nigeria have issues with economic ownership of property

"Economic issues such as the ownership of properties" your words..

Lol
.

Now we should tailor health crises to what the oyibo are doing

Haha

I have an idea..thank you

It is not about Nigeria dude...its the fact that ebola was reported five months ago in a regional neighbor in a region where movement is unhampered....do you get it??

Immediately I saw it on BBC then..i knew...i knew it will b a matter of time before it gets to Lagos..its not rocket science

Dude....
Maybe you will get it now...

Last week a passenger was screened in Heathrow

CDC Atlanta are sending specialists to Africa to study an African diaease

Dude...get it.?
What is naija doing

eaglechild: Do you have any idea what a screening exercise entails? huh

If that be the case then every aircraft from Nigeria going to any destination should have all its passengers screened on arrival, but is that the case?

Does it then mean that Britain, France, US etc are lax since a case of Ebola death has been reported in Nigeria and they have not been screening all passengers?

Please reason before you critise.

This is not about patriotism but clear facts and figures.

I really hoped carefreewannabe had facts for damiso questions but she just waved it away based on definition of often ..
Lol
@carefree
All females in my extended family own land and they are in control of the property..
The report you put up is ok but heavily skewed to the North where inequality is massive

Let me ask cococandy who is on ground here rather

Coco, are igbo women prohibited from owning land and property

Can any one name a company in Nigeria where they segregate pay on the basis of gender i.e. basic salary/allowances for men and women at the same level are different
Politics › Re: Nigeria To Screen Airline Travellers For Ebola by pickabeau1: 8:22am On Aug 02, 2014
Ebola was announced in west Africa ad far back as Marc and we just started screening now

We are lucky this guy fainted at the airport.

What about those infected who showed no signs and may have entered the country?

There is so much regional movement and this has taken four months before we started screaming....puhleeze.....

Medical workers are on strike

We don't have a coordinated response plan for a contagion of this nature

It seems to be divine that he fainted just at the entry point into west Africa's most populous city..

Just luck

Blind and naive defense of poor policies in the guise of patriotism..well...

eaglechild: Really? angry angry

I do not agree with you at all.

We are talking about routine screening of all passengers from high risk areas, not just symptomatic ones.
And this is an informed decision that came immediately WHO blew the whistle yesterday that the more stringent measures need to be taken.

The passenger that arrived from Liberia was handled professionally and prior to that WHO never advocated any aviation restrictions.

No other contact has tested positive for Ebola so how in the world is it a belated response?

We needn't always be overtly critical.
This is one issue I can say Nigeria has handled well so far.
