microgiant: Stop mixing issues here. a dish is pointed to sirius @ 4.8E and after scanning, channels on Zuku package are scanned in, but when you go to such channels it shows "NO SIGNAL" and the signal bar is red.

I have also experienced this and very interested to know more or why.

May be it depends on your setup. I agree when I was tracking this satellite in readiness for Man U vs Madrid the frequency of Zuku even at 85% was alternating between red and green, never stable. After scanning all channels popped up and as I am writing the signal is very stable, green.

Lunsat: @Microgiant: Your case of say ZUKU channels scanning in on sirius 4.8E when WE KNOW they are not on that sat and are actually on NSS 12 66E. This might be a case of the signal bouncing off a building or wall. My theory is that stbs in scanning mode are more sensitive than when in normal reception mode. Hence they can detect weak signals bouncing off a wall (for a sat not located in front of the dish) during scan but after scanning the channel is red because the stb is now in a less sensitive reception mode. Just a theory.

There is a Zuku package on Sirius 4.8E. We are getting it not from the signal bouncing off something.

Sometimes its the problem with the LNB as I experienced on Tuesday when installing at a friend's house. We also managed to hit 86% but etv hyde park never hit green. WE tried all we could but to no avail until we decided to change the LNB. The moment we put the new LNB on the holder without even tightening the screws we had already hit green with well above 60% on etv hyde park and 57% on etv capetown.

Yes, but needs some expertise coz you will need to modify the holder and do EXTRA tweeking. Take note that you will not get all tps.

Lunsat: Has any one with SRT4930 HD ben hit by this OTA upgrade thing? I have this stb and I have not experienced any OTA issues even though I acccess both Astra 2F and Intelsat 20. I am not even sure that there is an OTA menu in the software for this stb. Maybe the OTA issues are for SD stbs?

So far I have never heard of SRT 4930, 4902 etc being hit by this OTA Upgrade Tsunami. I was discussing with a friend this morning about this and I also touched on the fact that this 4930 doesnt have this OTA option. But bearing in mind that these Mytv people know these receivers in and out we came to the conclusion that we should wait before singing "Hurray, hurray, hurray..." May be even without that option they will force an upgrade on these models, just like what Dstv does (and what the now defunct Gateway Television - GTV used to do).

Yes BB is up to the usual tricks. These channels are similar to what Sammu posted but this time with different fta frequencies (two to be precise). Most of these are mainly West African...lets wait and see. As you my Oga George_D rightly said, enjoy while it lasts!

I also made the same conclusion that Zuku is far much better than DsThieves. Their movies are excellent. Only the sports side needs improvement.

Try deleting those transponders that are showing RED (useless ones) and rescan

This is not to derail your project but I think too much has been said and promoted in the open arena. I feel the main target BB is surely working on this and as it is normal we should expect this Redline to die shortly. Previously cccam and company were promoted behind the scenes but this good redline is being sold like tomatoes in Alaba market. We should expect the Dstv antipiracy team to come up with a counter measure.

You are always welcome bro. It is very likely that you are not getting video because those channels are indeed mpeg4. Just like on MultiTV package, you only get audio and no video (2 channels show) when you use mpeg 2. As for RDV the commentary is in French by RDV commentator.

MultiChoice and Irdeto combine in piracy initiative

A year-long investigation, run jointly by the Irdeto Anti-Piracy and Forensics Unit, MultiChoice Africa Anti-Piracy Department and Botswana Police has led to the arrest of two Chinese nationals.

The operation began in December 2011, when a piracy operation purporting to be a refrigerator sales and repair company was discovered to be extracting “control words” from MultiChoice Africa smart cards and then distributing them to consumers that had bought a pirate circumvention devices, such as Magicbox, Avatar, Hawk, Microbox and Eagle.

Control Word Sharing piracy takes place when a pirate steals and retransmits a regularly changing control word that is passed between a smart card and a set-top-box.

The illegal operation was thought to be distributing illegal control words and selling Magicbox pirate circumvention devices to subscribers in Botswana, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Zambia and South Africa. During the raid, the police found and confiscated Magicbox pirate circumvention devices (1800 units), computers, a laptop computer, a smart card reader, MultiChoice Africa smartcards and a large amount of money.

Commenting on the raid, Frikkie Jonker, Senior Africa Piracy manager for MultiChoice Africa, said, “With the support of the Irdeto Anti-Piracy and Forensics Unit and the Botswana Police, the raid was very successful and sent a firm message that this kind of criminal activity will not be tolerated and that strong action will be taken against those who illegally abuse MultiChoice Africa content.”

Irdeto’s senior director of the Irdeto Anti-Piracy & Forensics Unit who has maintained anonymity, said, “As long as there are consumers who are prepared to pay for illegal content, pirates will continue to try to hack encryption systems and turn a profit. One very effective way of addressing this form of piracy is to use technology to disrupt the pirate offering, thereby upsetting the pirate viewer and destroying the pirate credibility. Together with MultiChoice Africa, we will relentlessly fight these illegal businesses on the African continent, using technology and the law to its fullest extent.”

Irdeto says it continues to work with customers around the world to help combat piracy and to bring down the organizations and individuals involved in the illegal distribution of pay TV content.

Yes I agree the 'software' newspaper can't beat the paper version but half a loaf is better than none
Looks like the general appearance of pics you posted are better than the normal layout of Strong receivers. I hope the software designers will incorporate this new look into SRT 4930 and related receivers.

My strong 4669xii is always rebooting, live every minute. i have disconnected the recieve cable coming from the lnb and its still rebooting. Please what could be causing it and how could i solve it?? I just downloaded the december 2012 release of 4669xii firmware but the srt is rebooting so fast i just cant get anything done. Pls advise if you know what i could do.
