It is widely believed that one must yank up the hood of his vehicle to check all the oil in every compartment and water in the radiator. The truth is that if your car is in order, not old, and you are just doing town shuttle or short distance, like going to work on few kilometers, it is not a must that you do this every morning. You can do the morning checks two or three times a week, or on suspicion of something unusual. Of course, cars like human being needs routine check once in a while by your mechanic even when everything seems perfect. There's is a caveat though, please every morning, check under your car to make sure there's nothing abnormal you may run on, whether your tires are well inflated, position your rear and side mirrors and make sure your seats are in proper position before zooming off in the morning. Of course, for better performance of the engine, allow it to idle for a while before moving; do not rev it booom! bloom! It kills the engine. You can air your views. Good morning. |

When a Degree is not who you are. Gani Fawehinmi was the best legal mind of his time in Africa but he was not even the best in the University days, truthfully, he had ordinary pass in his Law degree, not even a third class degree. He could be classified as "let my people go" in those days. After Gani left the University and passed his Law school , there was nothing ordinary again in his life, he was the best in everything he touched. He wrote lots legal books and journals in Nigeria. He visited Courts more than those who made First class in the same school with him or those who became SAN before him. Gani's presence in any court was a big news to the Press and the nation, he was delightful and reassuring to watch, he spoke the language of his profession like an angel and every judge knew him as a man of integrity. Gani was the most honorable lawyer Nigeria ever produced, to most Nigerians particularly the poor and middle class,he was their hope, and epitome of graceful expectations of how to prosecute cases, he made legal profession honorable. Gani's most memorable case to the Oracle was against Rotimi Williams over integrity. He made a mockery of the man Nigeria called *Rotimi the Law* the Chairman of the 1979 Constitution drafting committee of 49 wise men. It was supposed to be 50 wise men until Awolowo pulled out of the committee. Why? The first appointment given to Rotimi William as Attorney General of Western Region was by Awolowo as Premier. It was the mistake of the Head of State Gen Muritala Mohammed to think Awolowo could serve under Rotimi unfortunately, he never consulted Awolowo before the announcement on the radio. Rotimi Williams had sued Gani over his integrity and like Shylock he wanted a pound of flesh, the flesh that will show the nation Rotimi was the law. He also wanted an open apology in the court with the Press and new radicals of media like Dan Agbese, Dele Giwa, Mohamed and Ogunsanya around. He got more than what he bargained for. When Gani stood up, the poor and middle class stood up with him, if Gani had failed lots of his fans would have cried openly in the Court but he turned things around. He took few steps towards the Judge and demanded to put Rotimi the Law on the witness stand for cross examination. No one had ever done that in the history of Nigeria, probably in Africa. Rotimi was not a short man either probably around 6.2 ft, tall and huge with sharp penetrating eyes, broad shoulders, his presence took away the oxygen in the room, he was the attention in any Court.he was indeed the Giant of legal profession. Rotimi wore his robe like a rag and if the event could be biblically assessed it was like David standing next to Goliath. Rotimi had everything his profession could offer, fame, money and power, Judges bowed before him and who would not? He wrote the law of the land.if not why would he be called* Rotimi the law* To the surprise of the nation, the presiding Judge granted the request of Gani to have the man that was greater than life on the cross-examination box. Gani had a mischievous smile on his thin lips, he knew he had Rotimi by the balls, he was going to tear down the wall to show Nigerians how coleric his adversary was. The hate was glaring, we knew the occasion would be historical as we were about to witness how David of Nigeria legal profession would defeat the Goliath of the learned colleagues. Gani asked if Rotimi ever attended the popular High School in Lagos, he mentioned. Rotimi had no choice than to confirm he did. Gani told the Court to look at Rotimi Williams as a student of the High School who stole a calculator or so and was sent out for stealing if such a thief had any integrity? Rotimi never had any integrity he said infact he lost it from his High School days and wondered what he wanted to protect as an adult. Gani Fawehinmi concluded. Rotimi was almost in tears. The Judge called the two lawyers to his chambers and Rotimi withdrew the case. He never recovered from the bruised of the shame which the Press sensationally reviewed on the pages of the newspapers and talk radio. From Gen Gowon to Military President Babangida, they were all scared of Gani Fawehinmi. Gani was a friend of the sick and the poor, a philanthropist with special attention to education where he noted his own weakness, he gave Nigeria his all, energies and commitment to the rule of Law and love for humanity. If his profession were to be military, Gani would be more than a four star General. He was indeed what a Lawyer could be, to this Oracle, Gani was the Perry Mason of Nigeria law. The Oracle says, what you make out of your University education depends on what you put into the society. Your degree is not a waste it is template for you to understand life and contribute meaningfully to the society, the man who made a difference is the one with education to improve his environments not the paper qualifications. I beseach you my readers to have a renewal of spirit and mind in how you see life, let you goal in life be guided with your contribution to your your society and never looked down on anyone who came out of the University with ordinary pass. He could be the one to make a difference. OracleZents |

Proving the case of defilement as contained in the criminal code will be a herculean task. And going public on this alone will give the culprit a good case on defamation. Believe me the court will give him judgement. However, the first lawyer is more experience (from the chat, there seems to be 2 different views) But he failed to tell the complainant that an offence was allegedly committed against his sister but the burden of proof is massive and unachievable in the circumstance. dainformant: |
Good one but the law can't be retroactive, it will be ineffectual because the act was committed before it came into being. Prexblog: |
The INSIDER Summary:The World Economic Forum recently released their Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Report, which analyzes the travel and tourism sectors in 136 countries. The report includes a ranking of how safe those 136 countries are for tourists. The ranking is based on the prevalence of violence and terrorism, and not on petty crime. The top five most dangerous countries are Nigeria, Pakistan, El Salvador, Yemen, and Colombia. Some countries are better suited for tourists than others. The World Economic Forum recently released their Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Report, which analyzes the state of the travel and tourism sectors in 136 countries around the globe. As a part of this report, the WEF ranks the safety of each of those countries. To come up with this ranking, the forum "measures the extent to which a country exposes tourists and businesses to security risks mainly related to serious harm to people (violence and terrorism)." The ranking does not take petty crime into account. We rounded up the 20 most dangerous countries from the report, based on safety and security. Keep reading to see which countries you might want to avoid. 20. DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF THE CONGO The Congolese armed forces, as well as other armed groups and bandits, are active in many parts of the country, and they are pretty violent. Because the Congolese military is in operation throughout the country, travelers are likely to come across troops, armored vehicles, and attack helicopters. 19. THAILAND The provinces of Yala, Pattani, Narathiwat, and Songkhla - all of which are in southern Thailand - are the most dangerous in the country. In the last 13 years, more than 6,500 deaths have occurred in these areas due to violence. There's also a martial law in effect in the region. 18. JAMAICA While there are currently no travel advisories for Jamaica, violent crime and shootings are still rampant in some parts of the country, like Kingston and Montego Bay. Even guests staying in resorts can be affected. 17. SOUTH AFRICA High crime rates in South Africa have led many locals to hire private security guards to protect them. Rape and murder occur frequently, especially in the more remote townships and settlements. 16. GUATEMALA Guatemala's border with Mexico is one of the most dangerous parts of the country because of frequent drug and alien smuggling. The country also had the fifth highest homicide rate in Latin America and the Caribbean last year. Other common crimes include carjacking, armed robbery, and theft. 15. CHAD ISIS, Al-Qa'ida, and Boko Haram are all active in Chad. In the past, attacks by these extremist groups have targeted not only civilians and security forces, but also foreigners. Border crossings can be dangerous too, due to minefields in those areas - specifically Chad's borders with Libya and Sudan. 14. BANGLADESH Besides the threat of terrorist attacks, extreme weather also affects Bangladesh, putting the country at risk for a number of natural disasters. The Asian nation experiences tropical cyclones, flooding, and sometimes earthquakes. 13. MALI The risk for terrorist attacks is high in Mali's capital, Bamako, as well as other parts of northern and central Mali. Hotels and restaurants are often the targets for these attacks; in November of 2015, a number of people were taken hostage and killed at a Radisson Hotel in Bamako. 12. LEBANON Because multiple extremist groups are active in Lebanon, terrorist attack such as bombings happen frequently. It's also typical for protests and smaller disputes between neighbors or families to escalate and turn violent, causing harm to bystanders. 11. PHILIPPINES In addition to the recent shooting and fire at a Manila Casino, kidnappings are common throughout the Sulu Archipelago and the southern Sulu Sea. Foreigners are often the targets of these kidnappings. 10. UKRAINE Fighting between Ukrainian armed forces and Russian-backed armed separatists is common in both the eastern and southeastern regions of the Ukraine, more specifically, the regions of Donetsk oblast, Luhansk oblast, and Crimea. Civilians continue to get caught up in the fighting. 9. HONDURAS Honduras is home to one of the world's highest murder rates. The department of Gracias a Dios in particular is plagued with crime and drug trafficking, and also lacks police or military presence. Tegucigalpa, San Pedro Sula, and La Ceiba are other dangerous areas; 70% of US citizen homicides in the last seven years happened in these districts. 8. KENYA While many terrorist attacks occur outside of Nairobi, the threat of terrorism is still high in the city. Grenades, shootings, and stabbings are common forms of attacks. 7. EGYPT ISIS and other extremist groups pose serious threats to public venues throughout Egypt, including tourist sites. The groups have also been known to target various modes of transportation. 6. VENEZUELA Shortages of basic goods such as water, food, medicine, and electricity have lead to much social unrest and crime throughout Venezuela. The country has one of the highest crime rates in the world; armed robbery, murder, kidnapping, and carjacking are all common forms of violence in much of the country. The U.S. Department of State warns against travel to Venezuela. 5. NIGERIA Two extremist groups, Boko Haram, and Islamic State West Africa, are responsible for much of the violence that occurs in Nigeria, and commonly target heavily populated areas like churches, schools, restaurants, hotels, and entertainment venues. The U.S. Department of State says visitors "should be vigilant at public gatherings and locations frequented by foreigners," and to "Exercise extreme caution throughout the country due to the threat of indiscriminate violence." 4. PAKISTAN Religious conflict has plagued Pakistan for years, and violence against certain religious groups is still common throughout the country. Pakistan's government also greatly limits freedom of speech, and forbids foreigners access to numerous places throughout the country. 3. EL SALVADOR Besides having one of the world's highest homicide levels, El Salvador is also known for its many gangs, which are known as maras. Gang violence includes everything from extortion to arms and drug trafficking. 2. YEMEN Rebel groups based in Yemen's capital, Sanaa, continue to both target and detain US citizens. Extremist groups such as Al-Qa'ida are also active in the country, and because of land mines and air strikes, much of Yemen's population lacks basic necessities like food, water, and medical assistance. 1. COLOMBIA While Colombia isn't as dangerous as it once was - Medellin was named South America's best destination last year - visiting the country still poses quite a risk for foreign travelers. BACRIM, armed gangs, are responsible for kidnappings, drug trafficking, and robberies that occur throughout the country, while acts of terrorism, like explosions, are common in many big cities like Bogota. http://www.msn.com/en-us/travel/news/the-20-most-dangerous-countries-in-the-world/ss-BBCfcNw?li=BBnb7Kz&ocid=UP97DHP#image=21 |

In a dream this morning, there was no water in the house and I decided to go and borrow the drawing bucket to fetch water from a Well. On arriving at the woman owner of the buckets house she asked me to fetch for her also and I agreed. While moving out with the bucket, lo and behold, she was escorting Daddy Adeboye. Pastor Adeboye stopped and asked the woman who I am which she told him and he also asked how much I need for the water, the woman said N1000 and that there's another N100, 000 that I also need for what I can't remember as the woman explained. She is an elderly woman dressed like all those deacons in the church. Pastor Adeboye dipped hand in his pocket and brought out N100, 000 and N1000. I rejected it asking him to give it to the less privileged people. He insisted with the kind of vehemence I had never seen in him from my little knowledge of him. Still I begged him that the money is better given to the less privileged people. The elderly woman then collected the money and put it in my pocket while I was still kneeling before Pastor Adeboye. I then unconsciously I started weeping. People gathered and were watching. I woke woke up with the tears on my eyes. Before this dream, my kid sister had been in need of 100k for her pgd school fees. She was also asking for another money to buy insecticide and treat my mums room. Mum had been down for some time now. Sorry, I am not a member of Redeemed Church until my wife got me into it a after our marriage and I still struggled to attend my church once in a while. I never really liked the church and had openly criticized Adeboye in the past. I need an interpretation. |

I just want to ask some questions concerning a test I wrote with a UN agency sometime last year. After writing the test, I was contacted a week later, though via phone call to prepare for interview and to fill and submit the P11 form. I submitted the p11 form and just as I was preparing for the interview, I was contacted again and told that the interview was postponed, new date to be communicated later. I waited for what looked like eternity, yet no information. I visited the office and managed to get a sketchy information that the to-be interview crew all traveled to Vienna due to some pressing security situation in our country then. I continued waiting with high hopes and communicating some candidates that wrote the test with me (2 that I managed to get their numbers) and none said they were contacted. In April, this year, I wrote an email to same people that contacted me for test as they no longer pick my calls. Till date, I have got no replies and neither have UN written me a regret letter to close this chapter. I am just wondering what happened. |

I work as a compliance officer in an organization and was sent on a due diligence mission to check contractors before selection in a multi million Naira contract. This mission came after we were mandated by one of the dreaded financial regulatory bodies to do so. One of the organizations I visited comprised of two alhajas as the head. From my findings, they have been handling a lot of contracts without proper documentation and I discovered other irregularities. In the course of questioning, the head of the organization, a huge lady flared up and threatened to walk me out of her office. She said she was going to call my boss to ask why I was sent to her office. She went out and spoke on phone for almost 10 minutes. She came back and started raining insults on me. At that point I left. I wrote my report when I came back from the trip detailing the discovered irregularities and the unruly behavior meted out to me by the CEO of the company. In one of the strategic meetings, I narrated my experience and other staff were so angry. To cut a long story short, the company has been retained to handles a 40 million Naira contract. I was equally told that one of my bosses called me names in the selection meeting. Gentlemen and ladies of Nigeria, it may be difficult to remain above board in this place called Nigeria. This is just one of my few experience in similar circumstances. If I am not able to relocate as I am trying to do, I will join the train. I don't even know what lies ahead as a result of this last issue. Everyone including relations have been warning me not to run into problems trying to be the good one. "do what they want and be safe". My wife equally threatened to "walk away" if I loose the job for trying to sanitize the country. They all said it's not worth it. The best option is just to leave the country. And if I cannot realize it, I'm sorry I'm in. |
