Family / Re: Should I Adopt My Fiancee's Son Legally? by pimper24: 7:57am On May 09, 2021 |
Babinski:Your postulation has no legal basis. There's nothing like runaway father. Training someone else's child (a living conscious person) is a mere act of charity, though could crystallise into ownership if not proven otherwise by such biological parent however irresponsible. In other words, there's no way the biological father cannot claim the child if he wants or does not want to pay or compensate you for your alms. But if the child reaches majority and asserts your paternity, matter don finish cos at that age whoever he says is the father becomes the father and nothing more. Generally, people do this for charity and posterity. Fortunately, the child often grows up to adore you forever and that has always been the case. BTW, most of those foster or step children often grow up to be great. AGAIN, child however, has the absolute decision to make if he reaches majority i.e 18 years in Nigeria, England and the rest. |
Family / Re: Should I Adopt My Fiancee's Son Legally? by pimper24: 9:44pm On May 08, 2021 |
Exodora:If a DNA test gives him paternity, you can only claim the millions you spent. Thats why I said most of the time its an act of charity and service to humanity and God training the son or daughter of someone that is alive. But you know if the child reaches majority say 18, he can decide for himself and no DNA will be applicable cos whoever he says is the dad becomes the dad. |

Akv666:OK here you go. This is a candid advise for you are threading a familiar terrain (you know what i mean )and there is nothing absolutely wrong in your decision. First, Nairaland is the wrongest place to seek sundry advise as the level of ignorance there ranks quite high (pls google Quora and seek such advise there). Train that boy or girl as an act of charity and do not adopt legally cos it will not be granted if the father lives, however irresponsible he is. The child can answer your surname for the benefits that will acrue from you, better integration with your biological kids and to avert discriminations. Train that boy as an act of love you have for the mum and humanity in general. Finally, the position of the law is that if you train the child, hold him out as our own and do other things that show you acknowledge his paternity, he is your son under the law. So, no adoption is needed. If he reaches majority, he is at liberty to fend for the biological dad (they seldom do that, of course), but you are the father he knows my friend. BTW, how wise can we even be in our own eyes? this question goes to those demonizing single moms. |

Crime / Can You Make Call While Waiting For The Traffic Light To Turn Green by pimper24: 4:36pm On Apr 17, 2021 |
This is what the law said : Making use of your phone is forbidden while the in motion. This is under the Traffic Regulations made pursuant to the FRSC Act. I was wrongly booked and my car roughly towed spoiling the fender and the break components cos the leg break was matched down when I was pulled over. What happened? They were obviously on road eforcement. VIO, Civil Defense, Police and FRSC. I was a bit bored cos it was a long wait due to the obstruction they caused in the ensuing commotion of arrest of motorists with policemen and women brandishing their rifles in menacing ways. I changed the car stereo from FM to one of my favorite songs and sang along. The FRSC guy obviously overzealous for reasons I could not immediately fathom, made straight to my car looking very livid. He just stood in front of my car while the police sorounded me. I was a bit scared and demanded for my offence. "You were making call", the FRSC guy said. I was just hearing park park park. I simply pulled off the road and before you say jack straw, my car is already hanging at the back of a crane. They just said I should go to the VIO office at Mabushi and pay. I paid and got back the car same day. The superior officer there said the car would not have been towed if I was not bragging that I was a lawyer. My goodness. I tell you it is a zoo that someone called it. I then decided that I will show truly that I am a lawyer since they vigorously demanded it. I have demanded a refund of the wrongly billed penalty, the cost of repairs of my damaged car and damages of 10m. I am warming up for court if they fail to comply within stipulated time I am a lawyer but let me ask this question here again. I have gone through the traffic laws and the regulations pursuant to the FRSC Act. Are motorists forbidden from using phone while stationary and not moving but waiting for the traffic light to turn green. this is relating to a separate incident involving other Nigerians cos in my case, I did not even touch my phone, but assuming I did while waiting for the light to turn green, is it a traffic offence? The answer is in the negative as explained above. Please share this let Nigerians be enlightened. |

Please anyone close to Buhari should inform him that the exclusion of the igbos in sensitive appointments could cause a disaster that has never been imagined. I see a second civil war. The eastern governors are pretending but they know everything that is being cooked. Please don't delete this post. Buhari should find a way of solving nepotisic injustice. I am not saying that the presidency should go to the south but pls south east should be called to a negotiation table before the mantle is given to Tinubu. Please I am not an Igbo man but I love this country. Anarchy looms, I see war, I see war. Please don't delete this post. There is no ESN anywhere. Those are just experiments. The governors know all these. Please do not play with this. I am not in the country. So I am not scared. |

Family / Could this be a family admonition or undue pressure? by pimper24: 2:54pm On Apr 02, 2021 |
I have been busy and really stayed away from home for a while. I decided to come for the Easter and a meeting was convened solely because of me; a summon was sent from the family elders. The emissory was my mother. After a welcome statements and a re caste of the difficulties the family grappled with to make sure I successfully completed school and even studied abroad, my eldest uncle (my dad is late) paused and asked if I wanted a drink, to which I said no. I was really eager to have him come out clean. It was like waiting for eternity. He cleared his throat and took a colanut from a sylver platter and carefully scooped a paste of groundnut meal and pushed all into his mouth. He cleared his throat again after chewing for a while and commenced his statement. "Its been two years since the land in Grove was allocated to you..." He paused again and drank from a cup of water. "we want to know what is happening", "He hauled this igbo addage which is a rhetorics alluding the fact that I have all that is needed to excel. "Your mates that do not have half as much education and career have turned this village around in various projects. We demand an explanation." He concluded I simply told them I had no immediate explanation. And that I have never been lazying around except do what is reasonably expected of me as a man. That is use my income modestly as much as my needs would accomodate. They uninanimously demanded to see my wife in two weeks time. I have wondered if this is good intentioned or just undue pressure from the family But my thought: It is quite good to check on the progress of family members but, when this kind of subtle pressure accompanies it, it becomes overbearing. And could lead to avarice or some base instincts. |

Obierika:Yes. You didn't not give it free. It s not done in south Africa where they come from. God and do your findings. Why are they not doing it on call credit . it should make it time barred. When initially we complained about the issue of call credit did not remove the time bar. |
