Yeah, the neighbours were going through hell every time the club was in session. The area is supposed to be a quiet, residential neighbourhood something lost on folks who donot live in Abuja metropolis. Homes and noisy businesses are not mixed.
then why demolishing the building? A simple order to stop whatever usage the place has been subjected to would have done this.

Travel / The Round About In Front Of UNEC Shows How We Think In Nigeria by pimper24: 8:15pm On May 11, 2019
The first time I drove into Enugu, I decided to visit a friend of mine at the University of Nigeria Enugu Campus. Right in front of the entrance Gate is a big round about which one does not notice until one passes the wall shielding if from the other part of the road. In fact its as if the round about is not part of the main road and forms another road into a separate street.

I drove straight into the gate as any other person new at the place would do, all the security men sprang up from where they were seated rushing to the front of my car and each person shouting on top of his voice, "go back" , "go back" . I was initially confused until a woman among them drew closer to ask if I was new in the city to which I nodded, already pulled up.
Yet the men insisted that I drove back to go and negotiate the bend in before driving into the campus Gate. It was so dramatic as I remained adamant, telling them there should have been a road sign at least. It took the intervention of same woman that approached me to calm them down while I drove into the campus.

It's just terrible the classified ignorance exhibited even in Nigeria 's ivory tower. One would argue that they are mere Gate men but professors pass this place without sensing that theres a need for a simple road sign reading 'give way to the left or right' as the case may be. The only sign you would see is just 'jump queue and pay fine'. And this place has been like this for years. I just conducted a secret survey and discovered that all new comers had at one time or the other faced similar embarrassment with some parting with some change to have their Peace and continue their journey. It's sad

Romance / My Take On Trying To Sexually Satisfy Your Partner by pimper24: 11:12am On Apr 23, 2019
I have read stuff about sex enhancing drugs including enlargement pills bla bla bla. Some are even dying on top women trying to perform extraordinarily.
Guys please take note: women that have one way or the other used artificial sex equipment like these vibrators have counter activated the sensory organs especially the ones that are suppose to receive sexual pleasures.
Let me tell you what happens when you make love to them. You will continue to hit and nothing is to happening to them. Those of them that fake ecstatic response including orgaasmmm will just keep deciding you, but Bro you aint make an inch of impact. She will just hiss when you are done only to go do her shiiit in her closet or secretly meet her drug taking Maga.

Be warned! Just do you thing and enjoy yourself. Don't try to impress . Many are gone already.

I will keep you in my prayers .

EmagNig:
Senegalese-American Entertainer, Akon has shared an interesting perspective on why Africa is better than America.
According to the music mogul, it is the media that is portraying Africa in the negative light:

‘the images they show about Africa are so negative. It’s conditioning what we believe. Africa has a rich story too. More people died in Chicago, more school shootings in America" he said

He further stated in the video that Africans need to start telling their positive stories to their children and stop the spread of negative news about the continent, as the media are always quick to pick this up and spread further to the rest of the civilized world.

Career / Re: Tips On Writing A Winning Cover Letter by pimper24: 6:51pm On Apr 16, 2019
TheCvBank:
A COVER LETTER

1.A Cover Letter is an introduction sent along with a Resume to provide additional details on your skills and experience and to show more reasons why you are the ideal candidate for the role.

2.A good cover letter should be memorable (positive) and personal (not generic). It should make the recruiter excited to open your CV.

3.Let’s start with Tips to Winning Cover Letter:

a. Do not attach your Cover Letter when sending an email.
Paste the content in the body of the email and ensure it’s addressed properly.
Only attach when expressly instructed.

b.Write a unique cover letter for every job you apply to. Every job has its unique job description and so should your cover letter.

c.Your cover letter shouldn’t be too long. When it’s too long, there is a high chance it won’t be read. I would recommend a maximum of 3 paragraphs.

d. It should show other things not in your Resume. For experienced hands, use numbers/data for achievements.
For fresh Graduates, highlight transferable skills.

e.Highlight/Talk more on the right experience or skill based on what was requested for in the job description.

f. You can use Cover Letter Templates on Google to GUIDE you but not to DICTATE for you.

g.Avoid listing traits/skills you possess, RATHER highlight few details on how you have exhibited them. E.g problem-solving skills, honesty, attention to details etc. Give examples of something that can captures the message/skill you are trying to convey.
It would help you with a format.

h. Ensure you go through it over again to avoid ‘typos’ and grammatical errors. “Grammarly” is recommended (Download and Install the app). It’s a lifesaver, trust me!.

i. Address it properly. It should be sent to the expected person receiving it or the HR Manager/Recruiter. If you don’t know who is receiving it. Address it to “The HR Manager”.

j. You should always show your value and why you’re the right fit for the role and not just only what the organization can do for you.

4.We'll move to: How to write a good cover letter:

Step 1(Address it properly):
The HR Manager,
Company Name,
Address,
State.

Step 2:
Dear Recruiter's Name(if you know)/HR Manager/Sir/Ma,

Step 3(Introduction):
Introduce yourself, how you heard about it, your skills and what drew your interest to apply for the job (why you applied).

e.g
I’m Ikem Kosiso, I would like to apply for the HR Business Partner role as advertised on LinkedIn. My interest and experience in carrying out various HR functions to support the the growth of the business has made excited to apply for this role.

Step 4(why you’re a perfect fit for the role):
Relate it to the job description and why your past experience and skills meet exactly what the company is looking for. Relate your achievements, technical capabilities are in tandem with the job description.

For step 4, You can include why you would fit into the organization showing that you have properly done your research about the company.

Step 5(Closing)
This is more like a call to attention. It’s like prompting the buyer on the next steps.

e.g:
Please find attached my Resume for your perusal. I am open to discuss more of my skills and the value I would bring to your company during an interview.

Step 6: (Sign-Off)
Use Yours Sincerely when you are addressing it to someone(when the receiver is known).

Use Yours faithfully when the receiver is unknown.

You can ALSO use:
Regards,
*your name*
(Phone Number)

Nice one but as for pasting the cover letter on the body of the email, it's a no no. This is because, some recruiters Wang to file your cover letter with the CV and this makes it pretty hard for them. Same with sending CV and cover in pdf. Not all these should be imbibed hook line and sinker. I have done stuff I got from the Internet and if I finally show for interview, the recruiters would start waring me saying that could have deprives me of the opportunity. Just like all these motivational this and that coming from foreign authors, try to sift what you imbibe or else you will be the architect of your own failure through "too much knowledge" .

Car Talk / Re: Are Gear Problems Not Fixable In Nigeria? by pimper24: 2:29pm On Apr 06, 2019
Kashif:

In the professional way (that I know of) in doing this, there are four certifications:

Diagnostician (I consider it the most important)
R&R - Remove n Replace
Rebuilder
Master - all of the above

I agree completely with you that most gear mechanics create problems, because I have been a victim too. That is why there is training dedicated to even replacing them. If a mechanic is careless and incompetent, he will cause problems wether he replaces or repairs a gear. In any case, he will still drop the gear.

Last year (or year before), somebody called that his Acura ZDX lost oil on his way to Lagos and went bad. I sent him to a 'gear specialist' friend of mine, because I felt with the history, it should be a straight forward repair. That was where it started. First attempt, car went home to VI and gear died two days later.

Was towed back. After three weeks of back and forth, and endless calls from both mechanic and owner, I drove down to Festac to see for myself. First thing I noticed was Christmas lights adorning the instrument cluster! Owner confirmed they were not there when he brought the car there. I told mechanic gear would not shift well with those errors. To confirm that, I checked internal oil pressures, and compared with the pressure chat I had. They matched. Active test also showed all ranges were present. I asked him to get a very good electrician to fix all errors, but he was skeptical.

After one more week, they (himself and owner) got frustrated and bought another gear for 450K. They mounted it and told me it was shifting like new, to my pleasant surprise!

The next day, I got a call that went thus: "Oga, all the things wey dey do the other gear don dey do this one". I'm sure you know my response. grin I was done with them. You can imagine a technician in US that I have never met allowed me connect t :oo his PC remotely from here just to get some diagnostic info on this gear!

The gear seller sent an electrician that corrected the errors for 30k. When done, the owner said he doesn't want the new gear again since nothing was wrong with his! They had to sort themselves out.

We shall get there some day.
wow shocked
Car Talk / Are Gear Problems Not Fixable In Nigeria? by pimper24: 3:06pm On Apr 04, 2019
Is it now settled that Gear issues in cars are such that eludes all mechanical solutions in Nigeria then warranting the outright purchase of another one for replacement. I have heard people say if the gear has any issue, just discard it and get a new one.
How true is this?

Bola Tinubu, the former Governor of Lagos State who spoke during his 67th birthday celebration on 29 March, narrated how a naval officer slapped him. According to the APC Chieftain, it was an incident he will never forget and it all occurred when he over-charged a naval officer who was returning to the country.

Bola Tinubu who narrated how a naval officer slapped him when he was still a cab driver, said; “One experience I will not forget was when I over-charged a naval officer, who was returning to the country. It was not intentional. Apparently, I didn’t know the direction; there was no GPRS in those days to locate directions. So, he gave me the direction to his house in a Virginia suburb.“I gave him the price and the man responded with a slap to my face. He said I should know the correct fare to charge to the location he mentioned. He slapped me and gave me the money."

Tragedy struck, some minutes ago, at Itafaji, Lagos Island, as a 3 storey building housing a school collapsed, killing and trapping many.

As at the time of filing this report, many students are being rushed to the General hospital, Marina, while parents are trooping there to search for their children.

It’s gathered that over 100 students are currently still trapped and being dug out.

Politics / Re: Falana Predicts What Will Happen In Atiku’s Court Case Against Buhari by pimper24: 7:12am On Mar 07, 2019
Esseite:
Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN), has predicted that Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate in the February 23 election, will face “insurmountable legal obstacles” at the Presidential Election Petition’s Tribunal.

Falana in a statement on Tuesday, however, warned that Atiku should not be blackmailed not to take the legal step, adding that the calls prevailing on him not to approach the tribunal were uncalled for.

He recalled that President Muhammadu Buhari who was declared the winner of the February 23 election, had challenged his losses in court in the successive presidential elections of 2003, 2007 and 2011.

Falana, however, stated that the failure of successive administrations to reform the electoral process, had created insurmountable legal obstacles for election petitioners.

“The campaign that Alhaji Atiku Abubakar should not seek redress is totally uncalled for.

“Aggrieved by the general elections of 2003, 2007 and 2011 conducted by INEC, Candidate Muhammadu Buhari sought redress in court.

“The chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomole and other APC leaders have had cause to claim their mandate through the court.

“Even some APC members who lost the just-concluded National Assembly elections have announced plans to challenge the return of their opponents by INEC.

“Therefore, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar should not be blackmailed or begged by any group of people not to challenge the presidential election held in the country on February 23, 2019.

“Regrettably, however, the failure of the PDP and APC-led Federal Government to reform the electoral process has created insurmountable legal obstacles for election petitioners,” he said.

Falana added that “the frustration of election petitioners has been compounded by several judicial authorities”, with some decisions holding that “an election cannot be questioned on grounds of corrupt practices.

“For instance, a petitioner is required to prove that there is substantial non-compliance and that the non-compliance has substantially affected the results of the election.

“In Yussuf v Obasanjo, it was held that an election cannot be questioned on grounds of corrupt practices.

“In Falae v Obasanjo it was held that it has to be proved that financial inducement was authorised by the winner of an election.

“In Buhari v Obasanjo it was held that the onus of proving electoral malpractice rests on the petitioner.

“Several fraudulent elections have been upheld under the doctrine of substantial compliance.

“In several cases, winners of fraudulent elections that were annulled were allowed to take part in rerun elections ordered by the courts.”
