Maybe harm already done before vehicle was shipped to Nigeria?

Possibly.

Actually, if there is complete combustion there will be little or no carbon deposits, only gases (carbon dioxide and water vapour).

Yep.

haha...
Does the diesel trick work? used it once on my former Nissan Altima... wasn't sure if it worked tho.
Also I still wonder why the 1ZZ and ZR engines are notorious for building up sludge so much. Seen so much of it, it feels crazy. I personally believe there is only how far this sludge removers can work. e get the kind sludge wey dem no fit comot. those ones that are thick like icing...

Still watching much content on sludge removal lol. Seems diesel works. I agree that that 1ZZ-FE engine seems more prone to sludge. A friend of mine who has always maintained a rigorous service schedule with 5w-30 is also facing sludge on his 2002 Camry. Generally, I've seen more sludge on Toyota than Honda cars.

alright then... patiently waiting.

in the mean time can we talk about engine flush and if the work?
will be nice to hear from others to learn from their experiences...

Dealing with sludge in a 1ZZ-FE engine presently. Done first flush, but some sludge still remaining. Planning a more aggressive flush. I used liqui moly engine flush initially however I didn't follow up with a 2nd drain and fill. I may use diesel as part of the 2nd attempt. Still researching and planning!

any update so far chief?

This one will take a bit longer. I estimate to have the video in about a month or so because of the method I'm using this time around.

I believe this indicates the presence of SULFUR content in the fuel we use, since we can't refine ours.

I am of the same opinion. High levels of sulphur. That yellowish brown grey stuff angry

Can someone pour in the engine with old oil that one is about to change?
Or is it the one you mix with the petrol?

Product is recommended for the gas tank not crankcase.

Yes it did. I will do this again with Liqui Moly...

I have commenced my use of Liqui Moly as prior, with before and after footage of the combustion chamber.

Early findings suggest it may be more interesting than the Gumout!

Chief. I follow your threads dutifully. How much did you get the 2017 accord?

I remember that one thread where you couldn't get a sound one in Abuja after searching and had to import.

Looking for one in Abuja currently. Any help will be appreciated.

I'm sure the cost I bought at will no longer be relevant e.g., dollar was 470 when I bought. Its now around 750. Plus I think customs have adjusted duty rates. That said, I recall correctly it was around 6.9 - 7 after fixing all repairs. But of course, cost is affected by mileage, degree of accident, level of duty paid etc. So don't be surprised if you see the same car going for between 7 - 12m
All the best!

I remember you and your DIY's. I'm looking up to you in that aspect. I just got a 2006 accord. What advice do you have?

Sorry, I must have missed this.

Keep up with oil changes, address check engine lights ASAP, make sure you have a good & trustworthy mechanic (if you're not into DIY). If a mechanic is the type that doesn't use a scanner, deletes thermostats etc, he should not be touching a modern day car.
Do preventive maintenance e.g., replacing air filter, spark plugs, coolant etc at the recommended intervals.
Recently, I was in a friend's car going somewhere and it stalled and wouldn't start. The engine was replaced 2 weeks prior for insane oil consumption. I went over to the engine bay for a quick inspection and the air filter was in shreds with gaping holes meaning that sand and debris was being sucked into the engine...certainly a contributor to the demise of the previous engine.

I think you get the point from the above. All the best and congrats!

The chemicals usually reacts with the metals in the presence of atmospheric oxygen most times after an explosion and this causes that surface rust to build up (my thoughts though).

I was thinking of this too.

GAZZUZZ:

why not?

For an airbag to deploy, ignition must take place.

Just disclaimer for the untrained. Even though I wouldn't do so myself. Static electricity can deploy those rascals.
Some have even had airbags deploy while trying to change steering wheel emblems.

What caused the corrosion of the inflator? Did the unit have a nitrogen gas mini-tank?

Honestly not sure of the corrosion, but I've had it sitting in storage for over a year. Possibly humidity had something to do with it.
Car Talk / I Disassembled An Airbag by Piyke: 9:19pm On Feb 08, 2023
I've always wanted to do this.

Luckily I still had the airbag from this other thread. https://www.nairaland.com/6714869/got-accidented-2017-accord

NB: Don't do this on an airbag that hasn't deployed.

You're welcome. On the items, maybe check Konga/Jumia for availability. Other than those you may be down to importing. Abundant on Amazon or Aliexpress.

KB Service Centre just received a new shipment of Bosch batteries ranging from 50 to 250Ah.

The 74Ah battery costs ₦45,000.

N.B - They charge VAT for corporate organisations.

Bosch needs no introduction. Very solid. Still enjoying the one I got! Thanks for sharing.

The nightmare-causing exhaust kit angry.

I actually saw a super riced up 2002 E Class coupe some days ago. Hood scoop, provocative spoiler and other body kit stuff. To wrap, it was finished in a flamboyant but poorly done black and white paint.
Couldn't take a pic as it was FRSC zone.

She was indeed a very faithful partner to you. Hope the new owner keeps her well maintained just like you did.

Most times when ignorant people say Honda no good, I just say ask Piyke. I also have a Honda accord that has been faithful since 2013. I'm so attached to the car that I don't even have it in me to sell it. I just say make my bro still dey drive am first

I can relate to the bolded. When the buyer was driving away, it felt like a part of me was leaving. Lol.
I bought this 2003 Accord knowing nothing about cars. All I learnt in terms of diagnostics/fixing vehicles was on this car, hence the sentimental attachment. Once the guy left, I just went and started washing the new car to calm my head grin

congratulations ..what type of engine oil were u using to service the car and at what intervals? Having a knowledge of your maintenance culture will be really helpful

Used 20w-50 for the first couple of years (didn't have access to oil weight), then switched to 5w-20/30 mineral oil. Ran one Mile Master synthetic blend once but it practically evaporated from the engine so I continued mineral oil. Intervals were 3 - 4.5k miles.
I think the clencher is that I drove mostly highway miles.

After 13 years, 112k plus miles, loads of fun trips and DIY escapades, I finally let this car go.
cry
Although I got a 2017 Accord last year, some planned repairs for the YouTube channel, plus some attachment to the car kept this car in the garage.

Good to be moving on.

Some history in this thread.
