aieromon:+234 814 199 3203. That's the number of the shop. |
Does not matter if its a Pilot, Civic, Fit or Accord, same procedure applies. I can't say for Hybrids ![]() |
I was having these 4 symptoms combined. While some may occur individually, combined means something. Here's the tetrad: - No remote start - Answer back not working - Car locks but lights don't flash. They only flash when you unlock the doors - Anti theft light doesn't blink... Can happen on Honda with remote start (2016 and up) |
aieromon:Mate, so sorry for the belated response. Started a response way back and thought I hit send. Yea. Their lubricants section does mannol. It's the OTO shopping mall. Gudu parts(2nd plaza on the left when entering from Oladipo Diya Road). Ask for Ifeanyi. He is the only distributor for SCT and Mannol lubricants there. I'm just seeking his permission to post his contact on the net. If he declines, I can can send to you by pm. |

Just in case you want the blue smoke experience ![]() I have a few bottles to spare which I can sell. I'll open a thread in Autos. |
I am still on the tank of Gumout fuel, but the smoke has now totally stopped. The smell is gone too. It's said that the smoke shows the product is working ![]() I forgot to mention that the water that usually drips from the exhaust now turned black. This is explained by the carbon being cleared from the engine. The water is no longer black too |
The culprit... Google is your friend I took to the Web. Turns out that certain fuel system cleaners can cause bluish/greyish smoke as well as strong odours when used. Especially in the morning. It was then it clicked. I added the Gumout product below to my tank some days earlier... The product has Gumout's CarbonClear proprietary tech which has PEA as well as 2 other cleaning agents.

I checked the dipstick, it was low. However, I was parked on an incline, so measurement won't be accurate anyway. Also, I didn't have a CEL. On this Honda, you should get a CEL from oil starvation of the VTEC solenoid when the oil goes low. It was the suddenness that baffled me the most. Could the engine actually be worn? Maybe I've been puffing bluish smoke gently without noticing? |
I know I have an oil leak from the mating area of the oil pan. Could the oil have gone so low that the engine wore? A family member had been using the car for the prior 4 days. I began to run permutations... |
It was a sad discovery. The smoke ranged greyish to bluish while I had my foot on the gas. When I let off, it became an effortless plume of bluish smoke with the horrible smell. I was numb. When, how, from where? |
I woke and started the Accord. Got out of the car to round up a few things. When I got back, there was an offensive odour from the tail pipe. I couldn't also tell if what looked like steam from the exhaust was mixed with greish smoke. I decided to give it a little gas...to confirm. |
captainking:Well done boss. You know this table could lead to many things. Let's just keep it...cartalk ![]() |
This experience really shook me and left me ![]() It was my tested and trusted 03 Accord. There's nothing I didn't think of! Will be updating and getting to the culprit in subsequent posts... |
ugo4u:With the latest dollar jangolova, I don't even know. Dollar was 470 when I bought, just checked and its 532 for today. I guess you can check jiji for rough estimates and possibly check out car stands near you. Shipping depends. RoRo should be about $1000 - $1500. Those that ship regularly can update. |
Conner44:The first forum I joined after getting my EoD! I think 2009. Knew nothing about cars then. |
adanny01:Speechless. |
Eldemmi:Sure. |
Inception:I currently have 26.7 on trip meter A. Though I must admit, I'm still doing some new car spirited driving moves . So not good time to measure mpg. I usually do not drive with ECON on except when in traffic. |
Epzilon: Modified! I get it now. As per drinking a cup of tea over an hour. Lol. |
Epzilon:Thanks! |
kelvinzino:Far better. Certain elements in the design are responsible. CVT + direct fuel injection + ECON mode... EoD has none of these. |
kingreign:Same here. Living in Lagos takes skill. |
id4sho:Very serious o. I tell you. Better not move at night. That's another lesson, though I had no choice. I wasn't the owner of the container. He was determined to offload irrespective of the time... |
Morale of the story... Accidented cars with SRS deployments can be restored to factory. You just need to know what it will take: parts, tools (if DIY), cost estimate for repair etc. Expertise is very important for SRS repairs. Where I painted the fender, the manager told me a similar car they tried to replace its driver airbag had 2 replacement airbags blow on them. I asked, "was the SRS disabled before fitting?“ To my horror, NO, was the answer. And this was a relatively well setup place! You need to be patient when in the market for a car, especially if you have a strict set of criteria. Don't rush into a 'bad' car because its proving difficult to find a 'good' car. Peace!

The drive from Apapa Road block after road block manned by agberos collecting forced tolls. They had a tactic: "Oga I go commot this ya side mirror o" I remember one of them who demanded 3k. The guy was already yanking the passenger mirror which has the lane watch camera. In a flash, I remembered my market survey on that part... 80k or so. I just dropped the money and moved! |
When the container was opened, o boy! The loaders in the US had no joy. A fridge was on top of one guys car . Mine was deep inside the container; on the ground while another sedan was suspended directly above. Container had 4 cars. See how offloaders were walking on cars to do their work . I had to make noise to mitigate the evil walk before they get to the car. After the shout, I called one of them and said, “calm down I will see you after" . With that, the guy relaxed and started safeguarding my moto ![]() However, there was one heavy carton seating on my hood . It left clear coat scratches. Most of which I have polished off. |
I saw things at Apapa... Car was containerized via Grimaldi. While an agent was used for clearing, I decided to have the "offloading/clearing" experience for myself. I also had some other business in Lagos, so why not? I saw things o. Container was offloaded between 8 - 10pm. Agberos everywhere. The car battery was dead and I went with a battery. The offloaders had a battery for cars with dead batteries. Fee was 2500 I think. The cranes are a beauty to watch while in operation ![]() |
