Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to approve what he described as the “psychiatric evaluation” of the Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi. According to Wike, Amaechi should be checked for suggesting that he (Wike) negotiated with Buhari, to allow him to win a second term in exchange for the President’s victory. Addressing non-indigenes of Rivers State at a campaign rally in Port Harcourt on Wednesday, Governor Wike said that Amaechi’s “poor psychiatric” condition, was responsible for what he described as his inability to grasp basic political issues. He said, “If I am their problem, why should I be negotiating with the President? “It is utter rubbish. It is totally untrue. The President should help us bring a psychiatrist to review the situation of the Minister of Transportation. “I plead with Mr President to do us this favour because our son is gone. We want to bring him back”. Wike also expressed disappointment, that Buhari watched Amaechi threaten violence on the people of the state “without taking action”. “I was so disappointed that Mr President was seated and the Director General of his campaign was threatening violence, singing war songs. Today they signed a peace accord. What will be the meaning of the Peace Accord when Mr President sat down and listened to his Director General threaten deaths and violence? “I have no problems with Amaechi’s threat of violence, but can he bring his son to lead the war? I challenge Amaechi, he has a grown-up son, who should lead the violence. His son can lead the war and then we will know that Amaechi is serious,” Wike added.

About 140 out of the 145 support groups that with drew their support to the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), Atiku Abubakar have returned to the PDP after a brief foray in the All Progressives Congress (APC). About 145 PDP Support groups known had earlier abandoned their support for Atiku for the APC on allegations of marginalisation, ingratitude and lack of support. But the group known as The Coalition of Atikulate Leaders Forum, in a World Press Conference on Monday at the PDP Presidential Campaign Headquarters, Legacy House, Abuja announced their return to the party and their collective resolve to end their support for the APC and its Presidential Candidate, President Muhammadu Buhari. They admitted they were aggrieved but stated that after reassurances from the Director General of Atiku Support Group, Math Yeduma, they resolved to return and work for the successful election of Atiku Abubakar. The National Coordinator of the group, Pastor Franklin Eze and National Secretary, Oyegoke Olawale in a jointly signed Statement stressed that the coalition has resolved to put their grievances behind. The Coordinator dissociated the coalition from what he described as self serving activities of a few members who may still be working for the ruling party despite the retreat. He said, “We have come to state categorically that of the alleged 145 support groups, not less than 140 groups, as you can see, are still with His Excellency Alhaji Atiku Abubakar except for ‘Atiku reloaded’ support group, led by El-Mikedo and a few others like him who have decided to reduce the nobility associated with politics and politicking into a bread and butter business. “Therefore, let nobody use the names of our various groups to go about collecting money from APC as that amounts to impersonation, outright falsehood and political prostitution orchestrated on the altar of the spirit of Balaamism. That is the spirit of avarice and kleptomania.” The coalition explained that the ruling party and its government has no respect for democratic institutions and uses official institutions to its advantage. “We cannot associate our groups to a government that have absolute and outright disregard for the rules of law that allows for a just and fair society, a government that has annexed the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) and the Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC) as an extension of her party. “The All Progressive Congress (AFC); as evidenced by the brazen show of the appointment of Hajiya Amina Zakari as the INEC National Commissioner in charge of the election collation panel and the refusal to retire the 1GP Ibrahim ldris who have served out his constitutional tenure in office. All this scheming we perceive is in attempt to perpetrate their rigging agenda. “Consequent upon the foregoing, we make it clear to the world that the about 140 Coalition of Atikulate Leaders Forum formally known as Coalition of All Aggrieved Atiku Support Groups (AASG) are still with His Excellency Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the Waziri of Adamawa and His Excellency Peter Obi. We are still with the Peoples Democratic Patty ( PDP) and we shall keep Atukulating until we get Nigeria working again. This is to say that we have decided to vote Atiku and Obi for the 2019 presidential elections, and there is no turning back to our collective resolution” Eze stated. For a better society |

Governor of Zamfara state, Abdul’Aziz Yari Abubakar, has threatened that elections in the state will not hold if the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) does not include the All Progressive Congress (APC) candidates in the polls. Governor Yari issued the threat on Friday, February 8, during the APC campaign rally in Talata Mafara local government area of the state.. “There is no way elections will be conducted in Zamfara State without APC candidates, despite Zamfara High Court judgment which confirmed that APC conducted primaries in the state," Yari warned. He said barring Zamfara APC candidates from contesting elections in the state will be a huge mistake and threat to national security. “All our actions are based on Zamfara High Court Order, we are therefore advising INEC to obey the order and include the names of Zamfara APC candidates list submitted to the commission,"Yari said. |
