Great news. The best goalkeeper in the world continues in our colours. Neuer der Mauer. SuperManu. Muller check. Phonzie check. It's only a matter of time before Thiago and Alaba put pen to paper. The club has done well in tying these key players down in spite of the uncertainty going on.

But will Nubel be okay with sitting on the bench for the better part of 3 years? I hear he has been promised some game time but no one really knows how that will turn out.

Godx:
“I don’t have to promise anything to anybody, only to myself in terms of working hard and giving everything, and that’s what I’ve always done since I started playing football. The fans have the right to be annoyed, we respect that, but they must be conscious of the fact they know nothing about football . I like tennis and basketball, I have played both since I was a kid, and I get angry when my team loses, but I would never offer tactical advice because I have no idea about it. It’s a general problem, fans of every team should understand that.”

Correct or wrong?
He is right in a way. Most football fans are ignorant and know next to nothing about the tactical aspects of the game. The average football fan is only quick to criticize and point out mistakes. It's easy to sit in a chair and say this and that but out there on the pitch, it's a different thing entirely. Just look at Gary Neville and Henry and how their coaching careers ended just as soon as it started.

But saying the fans know nothing about football is condescending and disrespectful. They may not have coaching badges but they are not outrightly clueless. They can see when things are not going right and as fans, they have a right to voice their opinions.

I've always said I consider Messi the 2nd best to ever do it. cheesy

Nah for real though, Messi is an incredible player and the most talented player to ever play the game in my eyes.

Ororo just has the extra seasoning that Messi does not and can never have. Killer Instinct. Big game performance. Knockout Stage God. Physical Presence. Arrogance. International Trophies. 2 international Trophies.

And that's the main reason why Ororo is greater than the talented choker.

I'm a childhood Dortmund fan, born and raised in Dortmund, in our family house beside the petrol station by the junction at the back of Signal Ideuna road.

Insha Allah we will prevent Bayern from getting their filthy hands on the trophy.

I agree with you here. Ability to head the ball should be a prerequisite for any Centre back especially at the highest level.
Same way goalkeepers are expected to make saves and strikers are expected to score goals. Does that mean we shouldn't praise players that excel at these things and do them better than others? VvD is the most dominant CB aerially in today's game and i don't see why we shouldn't give him props for that.

Geez, the ball was way beyond Ferdinand, reason he didn't jump. Go and watch the goal again.
I know. Ferdinand was caught out and a big part of winning headers is getting into a vantage position even before the ball is played. Cannavaro was good at this even though he was not the tallest of defenders. The point remains Messi scored a header that Ferdinand should have done better to stop.

Team shape and structure can easily be learned. On the ball intelligence, passing range and spatial awareness no be child’s play.
And who says Henderson and co are lacking in that regard? Fabinho can ping 30 yard passes with relative ease. Go and check out Henderson's over the top ball for Chamberlain's goal against Bournemouth earlier in the season. Wijnaldum is even the most technically-gifted of the trio. Proper Swiss knife. These guys aren't your average workhorses. They can actually ball.

Leyqute:
What you’re saying here, basically, is that you don’t need a proper football brain to function in Liverpool’s midfield. Creativity, passing skills and spatial awareness are not required. You just have to be fit and be willing to run around tirelessly for the whole 90.

Throw in Milner, Lingard and Perreira and Liverpool will still dominate and score goals.
Don't misinterpret what i said. You definitely need a proper football brain to play in midfield for Liverpool. Do Lingard and Perreira possess the same level of technical ability and tactical intelligence as Henderson and Wijnaldum? Do you think they just run around like headless chickens with no attention to team shape and structure?
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by pkasso(m): 9:49pm On May 09, 2020
nitrogen:
Thanks for confirming that the midfielders are not as prominently involved in the team's possession game. These guys only recover the ball for the defenders and attackers. Nothing more. Meanwhile, if your job is to recover the ball, you will definitely have high interceptions, tackles and even pass accuracy. There is no risk, you are just passing to the guys making use of the ball. I struggle with people that just watch football without trying to understand what is going on, Na to just shout goal dem sabi.

Now tell me why you think their (Liverpool's midfielders) scope of work is limited. Don't say that Klopp has always preferred that style, he tried to adapt his style, he realised it was becoming difficult for him to play creative football with his hardworking midfielders, he had to by-pass the midfield for good play.
I don't think you fully understand the work those guys put in. They win balls, keep possession and also cover plenty of ground, something that doesn't get mentioned often enough.

In Klopp's first two seasons at Liverpool, the team was a neutral's delight. Their games were always open and chaotic. End to end stuff. You could always bet on them scoring and conceding. I still remember Liverpool winning a 9-goal thriller at Carrow Road. The team was playing good but there was no balance.

Klopp then decided to tweak the system. The departure of Coutinho to Barca and constant injuries to Lallana and Oxlade-Chamberlain meant there were no creative influence in midfield. So he made changes. Henderson and Wijnaldum took on deeper roles and Fabinho was bought.

Their style of play is simply down to tactical instructions. Fabinho used to chip in goals from midfield during his time at Monaco. Wijnaldum scores goals for fun when playing for Holland and we all know Henderson isn't afraid to shoot. Remember that stunner against Chelsea some seasons back?
